Jason Grace was not having a good day. For starters, his sister wasn't able to make it to San Francisco for his birthday. To second that, his house was full of people he didn't know. Besides that, he was having a party he didn't ask for in the first place (including all the effects that come with it), but his father insisted upon. And on top of that, he was having a headache.

But then she arrived. Things were going great. Piper Mclean is an awesome person, with an even better personality. Jason wasn't expecting her to come, but it was a pleasant surprise amid the day's previous dilemmas. He admired her, even though he had only just met her, and she wasn't even complaining about his let down of a party. So, in his book, she was his new favorite person.

That afternoon, after the "party" ended, Piper went to the front room to get him a... surprise of sorts, one could say. Upon her return, she handed him a wrapped parcel. he set it on the table, and opened it after a moment of anticipation. Unbeknownst to Jason, his dreaded football teammates had chosen to enter his dinning room. Right when he opened a personalized writing notebook. Piper, oblivious to his uncomfort, glowed with joy at him seeing her gift. "Did you like it? It has thicker pages, so that it's easier to erase. I included a black pencil, it's beside the elastic."

Jason paled, and his mind immediately went into what he had named as his "panic mode". He slowly turned to face his teammates (ignoring Piper in the process) and hid the journal behind his back. "I- it's not nearly what you think it is. Trust me," he tried to reason.

Carl didn't take any excuses, and being the linebacker that he was, he took the notebook from behind his back and flipped to the first page. Piper whitened. She was smart enough to guess what was happening, and panicked. She had written a small note on the first page.

Dear Jason,

Have fun writing! I wish you the best of luck in all you writing endeavors :)

-Piper

Everything went downhill from that point on. Jason felt the exterior he had oh so carefully worked on crumble to pieces, his dignity with it. He blamed Piper, even if he knew he was at fault for it. But his temporary solution was exactly that, to blame Piper. She went back to L.A., accompanied with rue and regret. Jason regretted so much, but he didn't know how to pick the pieces back together to save face. Humiliation didn't stop there, not at all. School was the nightmare of Chaos for him.

His "friends", gone. His dignity, gone. His world as he knew it, gone. He had never felt more pathetic, a shell of himself.

A/N: Sorry about the sad chapter, but it's not over yet! This is not how the story will end, but we're nearing the close. Anyways, stay safe, thanks for reading!
