Sookie carried the dress that Pam had given her to wear the next day while they traveled upstairs to hang in her closet.
She turned from her closet and took a longing look at her bed. There would be no going to be anytime soon with keeping vampire hours.
The only place open at this hour was Fantasia.
"I've never been to Fantasia for fun" Sookie thought out loud.
She dressed in a black halter top and black leather skirt with knee high boots. Sookie took a quick look in the mirror before walking out of the door.
Eric was standing in his kitchen pouring a glass of blood when his phone rang.
"Northman".
"Who is at Fantasia"?
"I'm on my way".
Eric dropped his phone down on the counter and then went to his room to retrieve his jacket and shoes.
"I thought we agreed to take the night off". Pam commented when she walked in to the living room and saw Eric putting on his boots.
"We did but for some reason there is a Fae hybrid in my vampire bar". He answered as he put his boot clad foot down on the floor to pick up his other foot to put a boot on.
"Sookie is at Fantasia"? She questioned.
"Yes and I need to get there before some idiot tries to bite her". He stood to his feet and then exited the house.
"Go right on in Sookie" Cho disconnected to rope for her to enter the bar.
"Thank you" Sookie smiled at him as she went through into the bar.
Fantasia looked so different knowing that Eric and Pam were not there to watch over everyone's every move around her as well as her own. There was a hint of danger and adventure.
Sookie head straight to the bar to order a drink "Gin and tonic" she shouted at the bar tender.
"Here you are" The bartender handed her the drink
Sookie pulled her cross body on top of the bar top to pull out her money.
"Eric started a tab for you" The bartender attempted to stop her activity.
"I don't need a tab; I will pay as I go".
"That was my apparently too subtle way of telling you that Eric told us no to charge you".
"Oh, thank you" Sookie fixed her purse and then took the drink before walking away having had some of the fun sucked out her evening.
There was an empty table in the corner. She pulled out a chair and took her seat at the table.
"Come here often"? A tall vampire with short black hair and dressed in all black except for the white t shirt that was peeking out from his jacket.
"I actually do, you"?
"No, I just moved to the area. I was told this was the place to go".
"To check in with Sheriff Northman"?
"You're not a vampire". He responded confused.
"No, I'm not but I do know Sheriff Northman".
"Apparently every girl in this bar has known Sheriff Northman". He complained.
"I haven't known him but yes, he does get around". Sookie took a sip before looking around the bar.
Eric opened the door beside the bar and then turned to the bartender. "Where is she"?
"Over there" the bartender pointed to her at eh table in the corner.
Eric followed his line of sight. "Who is that"? He growled.
"New guy" the bartender answered while drying a glass.
Eric walked across the bar to Sookie's table. She felt a slight panic as she looked up at him.
"You are new to my area".
"Yes, Sheriff, I am Ray Walker". He quickly stood from his seat.
"She is mine" Eric dropped his fangs for punctuation.
"Yes, Sheriff. I am so sorry, Sheriff". Ray quickly turned and fled from the table.
Eric pulled out the chair that Ray vacated and sat down beside Sookie.
"Sookie why are you here"?
"I was bored and had never been here without you or Pam".
"For good reason, that one was almost pathetically harmless but what if someone else had approached you"?
"I don't know" Sookie admitted.
"Since I am here, please come sit with me". Eric held out his hand for her to take.
She took his hand and followed him to his throne where she sat in the seat beside him like she had the first time that they had met.
"The jewelry that you designed for me was beautiful". Sookie decided on small talk.
"I'm glad you liked it".
"There are a lot of pretty girls here tonight"
"I hadn't noticed" Eric shoved a woman away with his foot.
"Really"? Sookie asked astonished.
"Sookie, I am here because of you". He touched the side of her chin with two fingers to turn her head to look at him.
"Because of our agreement"? She questioned closing her eyes.
"No, if that were the case, I would have sent Pam to drag you out of here but instead I came myself to sit with you while you are here".
Sookie nodded her understanding. As long as she was there, he would be there.
"I'm ready to go home". She conceded.
"Are you sure? The night is still young".
"You kind of sucked all of the fun out of it. Pun not intended".
Eric laughed softly before reaching for her hand to lead her through the bar and out of the back door into the parking lot. Once they reached Sookie's SUV, he opened the door for her and she climbed in the seat before he closed the door and walked around to get into the vehicle himself.
Sookie thought that Eric would have known better than her on how to get to Bon Temp from Shreveport but right now they were stopped in front of a gate to a neighborhood.
"Eric, where are we"?
"Outside of my neighborhood" he answered as the gate opened.
"You live in a neighborhood"?
"Shreveport isn't a back water town like Bon Temp. There isn't enough land to have cemeteries in between each house".
"That was very specific" Sookie commented with a laugh.
Eric pulled the vehicle into the driveway of a house that she would have never thought that a vampire would live in.
The house that was attached to the driveway was large and all brick. The lawn was well manicured. Sookie was almost expecting for Pam to come out looking like a Stepford wife.
"Why did you bring me here? All of my things are at my house"?
"Pam went to your house. Everything that you need is here".
"I don't know how I feel about that".
Eric unlocked door that led into the garage. Inside the garage were Pam's BMW and Eric's Corvette.
"Pam lives here too"? Sookie questioned.
"Yes, we have separate bedrooms".
"I didn't mean it that way. I just didn't know that she lived with you". She tried to recover.
Eric opened another door that lead from the garage into the kitchen.
The kitchen was beautiful with incredible detail. A large island in the center with barstools on one side.
"Why do you have a kitchen"?
"It came with the house" He shrugged. It would also be strange to have a room with just a refrigerator".
"I guess that you are right".
Eric led Sookie into the living room. "This is the living room".
There was a large u shaped sectional with a fur skinned rug in the center facing the television over the fireplace.
"There is a dining room over there. Again it came with the house. Then there is a formal living room over there". He finished pointing.
"Where do you sleep"? She questioned.
"Over here" he walked over to a door in the corner of the living room that anyone would over look. He opened it to reveal a large bedroom. He then flipped the light switch on.
There was a California king size bed on the far wall with a black leather head board and dark red bedding. A dresser parallels it by the doorway. To the left of the bed were two armorers side by side. There were two doors adjacent one on the wall with the bed and other tot eh right of it further down the wall.
"That door is the closet. There is clothing in there for you in there as well as in the armorer over there. The other door is the bathroom".
Sookie left Eric to explore the space. She opened the closet door. There were clothes in varying shades of black and gray with a few items in white.
There was one section of colored clothing that was newly purchased. They were all items that Sookie would have chosen had she had a bottomless supply of money.
"You bought me all of this for one night"? She asked standing in the closet.
Eric walked into the doorway "Pam purchased them for me, for you. I thought that since you would be working at Fangtasia that you could stay here some nights".
"That was thoughtful". Sookie commented before exiting the closet and walking to the other side of the room to explore her other clothing options.
She noticed her armorer seemed to be newer than its pair. She then opened the cabinet doors to reveal the drawers and then opened them as well. These clothing items also had high end tags and very little material.
"I'm going to need to borrow a shirt". She announced sheepishly.
"Did Pamela not purchase bed attire"? He asked concerned.
"She did but I don't think that these items were intended for sleeping".
Eric laughed softly before he opened his armorer to pull out a t shirt for her.
Sookie took the shirt from him and then walked into the bathroom to change.
There were his and hers sinks on each side of a huge garden tub. Then to the side of one of the vanities was a large shower the ran the length of the wall. There was a door on another wall that was a closet full of linens and clothes hamper.
Sookie quickly changed out of her clothing and into the shirt that Eric had given her. She opened the linen closet and slightly hesitated before throwing her clothes into Eric's hamper.
When she walked out of the bathroom, she saw Eric lying on the bed dressed to sleep.
"Is it time for bed"?
"Almost" Eric flipped back the covers to welcome her.
"This is going to be so different from sleeping in the cubby". She commented as she climbed on top of the bed.
"Yes, there will be enough room". He flipped the covers back over her and him.
"That's not always a good thing". She complained as she scooted closer to him.
"No, it's not" he kissed her on the forehead.
Sookie lay in Eric's arms with her thoughts running wild. She cared for Eric. She could possibly even love him one day. Could he possibly feel the same way? She couldn't imagine being in a marriage even if it was only recognized by vampires, without love.
"What are you thinking about"?
That's right. He can feel her emotions. "How do you care for me"?
"What do you mean"? He questioned.
"If there was no contract would we still be as we are"?
Eric tilted her chin up to look her in the eyes. "For me, yes".
She searched his eyes. "That's what I needed to know".
