What's wrong with me - a second oneshot in as many days?! Anyway. This story was suggested by Rexsoka66 who I thank for the idea.

Look, I can't be bothered to research random trivia. If I created HTTYD, I wouldn't need to research random trivia. So, surprisingly, I don't own HTTYD.

The rain, it raineth every day,

Upon the just and unjust fellow,

But mostly on the just because,

The unjust pinched the just's umbrella!

Astrid coughed again, and Hiccup sighed quietly.

"Maybe you should cut off your lap of Berk and head home for the evening?" he called over the sound of the pouring rain.

Astrid glared at him.

"Hiccup, I'm perfectly capable of patrolling in the rain!" she shouted back. Water trickled down her neck, making her shiver. She sneezed and leant forwards, speeding off into the torrential downpour as Hiccup rolled his eyes subtly as he waited in the relative dryness of the training arena. He watched her figure disappear out of sight before turning to the task at hand - cleaning Toothless's saddle.

Hiccup scrubbed away at the smooth leather until it shined in the dim room. His thoughts began to turn to other matters - would Astrid be OK out there on her own? Would she make her cold worse? Not that she'd admit to being ill - Astrid was a warrior through and through. As stubborn as one too, he mused.

A blast of cold air drew him sharply back to reality and he realised that it was his father entering the room. Stoick's beard hung limp, soaking wet. Rain dripped off the hem of his cloak.

"Gothi says there's going to be a storm. I've ordered the village to batten down the hatches. Be back before dusk," he ordered in his gruff tone.

Hiccup nodded and watched his father stomp back out into the deluge, muttering to himself and shaking rain off his cloak every few steps.

He turned back to cleaning the riding kit.

That was part of what he liked about her - Astrid's firm resolve. But it was also what annoyed him most; everyone needs help sometimes and stubbornly persisting with a task even when it's going to fail is pointless. Hiccup sighed. Nothing was simple with her.

Toothless made a small noise and Hiccup turned to pat him on the head.

"I know she can look after herself, bud," he said, "She's got a nasty cold. I'm worried about her."

The black dragon purred and Hiccup abandoned cleaning the kit to scratch the Nightfury's head. Toothless grinned and licked his Rider's arm.

"Bud!" moaned Hiccup. "You know that doesn't wash out!"

Toothless made a chuckling sound. Suddenly, his ears flicked up as he stared alertly at the door.

The thump of a landing dragon outside heralded the return of an extremely wet Astrid.

She stumbled into the cosy little room, dripping with water.

"Maybe we should call it a day? Gothi says there's a storm coming and you're not very wel- you're rather wet," Hiccup ended lamely. He didn't want to embarrass her about her cold, but he couldn't let her get even more ill.

Astrid sighed.

"Hiccup, I'm-" she coughed again, spluttering behind her hand,"-fine. Now let's go and train before it gets dark."

Hiccup rolled his eyes.

"I tried, bud," he whispered to Toothless before following her out into the downpour.

The two teenagers mounted their dragons and began to run through maneuvers - rolls, dives, wingman moves. The rain pounded down, dousing them with icy water. Astrid grew paler and paler as Hiccup struggled to reason with her.

"Maybe we should-"

"No!"

"Hey, Astrid, how about finishing training tomo-"

"Hiccup…" Astrid glared at him. "I'm fine. Let's finish the training."

"Are you s-"

"YES!"

"Ok, then let's try a few simple rolls."

Casting a worried glance towards Astrid, Hiccup urged Toothless up and executed a perfect roll.

"You try!" he called down.

Stormfly flew up the same level and looked back at her Rider who nodded. The dragon began to roll - and Astrid's eyes rolled back in her head as she collapsed. Hiccup stifled a cry and Toothless dived, catching her as she fell. They landed and Hiccup gently lifted her into his arms, ignoring the rain.

"No… Gotta - finish - training…" she murmured feverishly, "Must… Train…"

"C'mon, let's get you home," Hiccup soothed.

"No! Need - to - finish…"

"Don't worry," he whispered, "We'll finish it later, ok?"

Hiccup gently pushed her hair back from her over-heating forehead and walked quickly back to her house, soothing her the whole way. Using his foot to open the door, he carried her inside and settled her on her bed upstairs. As he tried to pull a blanket over her, Astrid came round slightly and tried to push him away.

"Calm down, Astrid. We can carry on later," he murmured. She subsided, muttering feverishly about training. Hiccup began to sing softly, crooning the tune of a lullaby he vaguely remembered from his childhood. Astrid's eyelids drooped as she dropped into a fitful sleep with her head leaning on Hiccup.

"Hiccup?"

"Astrid. You're awake!"

"I'm sorry for fainting, I was being so silly. Getting ill is ridiculous, I'm making far too much fuss." Astris looked embarrassed. Hiccup smiled.

"Getting ill is fine - we all get colds every now and then. Just promise me one thing."

Astrid looked up at him in surprise.

"Don't go out in the rain again. Ever."

They both laughed and Astrid felt a bit better.
