Part 11

Earth-38

"Oh my god! I think I got it!" said Caitlin

Kara and Mon-El walked in to the lab seconds later.

"Do you really think you have it?" asked Kara

"I am pretty sure. All the simulation I have run show I do." Said Caitlin

"So the only way to know for sure is to test it." Said Mon-El

"Yeah I mean I wouldn't recommend taking a lead bullet or get stabbed with something made of lead. But this should protect you from the lead that would be put into the atmosphere." Said Caitlin

"Why are you doing this? Don't get me wrong I am happy you are. But we hardly know each other." Said Kara

"My relationship with my mother is complicated. But there are a few things she did right. First off it was to teach me the value of life. All life. Though she did admit to me recently that she would kill to protect me. The reason I couldn't use my powers when you came to help with the Dominators is because I couldn't control them because I feared them. I had the misfortune of meeting a doppleganger of mine. She had the same powers I do. But she used them to be a killer." Said Caitlin

"That must have been what Barry meant when he had been to an Earth where we were all evil and that it sucked." Said Kara

"Well not everyone was evil. From what I understand Barry and Iris's dopplegangers weren't evil. Barry's was a bigger geek then he is."

"Is that even possible?"

"Apparently where the multiverse is concerned it is. From what Cisco told me about Earth-2 Barry. He wore glasses and a bow tie and was basically scared of his own shadow. Iris was a cop and a good one. Iris's dad was a lounge singer. It seems that the only ones that were evil on Earth-2 were the ones that were metas. Cisco, myself, Cisco's brother, Ronnie, my husband who sacrificed himself to close a singularity. Another friend Laurel Lance, Sara's sister."

"Sara is on a time ship. Why doesn't she go back and save her sister?"

"From what I understand Laurel's death is a fixed point in the timeline. Just like the death of Barry's mom, and I am guessing his dad's death. If you changed a fixed point in time then all kinds bad things can happen. It is why Professor Stein hasn't gone back to save Ronnie for me. Ronnie was Professor Stein's first partner as Firestorm. Before Jax."

"So the destination of Krypton is most likely a fixed point in time."

"Unfortunately yes. I wish we could change that. But we can't."

"It's ok. So you going home once you know that this will work?"

"Not until we send Mon-El's mother away for good."

"So how does this stuff work?" asked Mon-El

"All you got to do is drink what is in this vile." Said Caitlin

Caitlin handed a vile to Mon-El. The liquid in it was green. He raised an eyebrow looking at it.

"Look it will probably taste horrible but until you have it in your system there is no way to know if it will really work." Said Caitlin

"Oh you are really making me want to drink this now." Said Mon-El

"Well you either drink it and we know for sure it works. Or you could not drink it and go back to being a spoiled brat prince and mama's boy. Breaking Kara's heart and risk the possibility of her dropping that mountain on you." Said Caitlin

"Ok good point." Said Mon-El

Kara laughed. She was beginning to really like Caitlin.

"You know if Barry still acts like an ass once he gets out of the speed force I would be willing to come over to your Earth and drop a mountain on him for you." Said Kara

"As much as I would enjoy that. I am the one that would have to patch him back together."

"Just remember the offer is always on the table."

"I will keep that in mind."

"Anytime. But I will give you this piece of advice. Tell Barry how you feel about him."

"I will think about it."

Inside the speed force

"We need to talk Barry."

Barry turned to see that the speed force had taken the form of Caitlin's late husband Ronnie Raymond.

"What do you want to talk about?" asked Barry

"Why did you break your promises? The ones to both Caitlin and Ronnie. You promised Ronnie that you would take care of Caitlin. You promised Caitlin that you would help her. But you did neither of those things. You forgot all about Caitlin and what she was going through, didn't help her with her fears over her powers. If you had worked with her helped her get passed her fears then she would never have lost control for even a minute."

"I don't know why I didn't help her. Cait has always been one of the strongest people I know. I guess I didn't think that she would ever be anything but ok. I mean she saved herself from Zoom."

"Yes she escaped on her own. But he had already broken her. The block put on her powers as a child had been cracking since the night of the particle accelerator explosion. Zoom was the final straw. So over the next few months they slowly broke through."

"Wait Cait has been a meta since she was a kid? Why didn't Harry's meta detecting watch work on her?"

"His watch only reacts to dark matter metas. Caitlin's powers don't come from dark matter. They come from a genetic mutation caused by an experimental treatment created by her father to treat ALS."

"Is this another change because of Flashpoint?"

"That I can't tell you. Barry, all you need to know is that Caitlin despite you pushing her a side made her choice. She could have become a full on villain, just like her Earth-2 doppleganger. But she chose the path to become a hero. She needs you to help her."

"I will help her. I will keep my promise this time."

"Once Caitlin finishes what she needs to on Earth-38 she will return to Earth-1. But it will be up to her when you are freed."

"I will have to wait for her."
