Ch 11 Tragedy

Makucha let out a furious roar and slashed Sarak again and again until Sarak's body was completely covered in scratches. "Now to end this," Makucha snarled, raising his paw to kill Sarak. But just then Makucha and his minions heard furious roars. "Shit its Rani and the Night Pride," Makucha cursed.

"Lets get the Hell out of here," Jiona said. "Before they rip us to shreds." Without waiting for a response Jiona hightailed it out of there with the rest of the group right behind him.

"Sarak!" Rani cried out, her brown eyes wide in horror as she took in her uncle's bloodied condition.

"Is..is he dead?" Baliyo asked, his voice coming out very soft.

"He's alive," Nirmala said, checking Sarak for a pulse. "But he's loosing a lot of blood. I need some supplies from the Tree."

"On it," Fuli said as she and Azaad raced towards the Tree to get Nirmala's medical supplies. Minutes later the two cheetahs returned with the supplies. After what seamed like forever Nirmala was finished.

"Is he going to be alright?" Rani asked, her voice shaking with emotions. Baliyo nuzzled his sister as they both awaited Nirmala's response. Nirmala looked at the Queen and Prince her blue eyes filled with sadness.

"I'm so sorry dear ones," Nirmala said softly. "But there's to much damage for me to properly treat. And he's lost so much blood."

"He needs to be brought back to the Tree!" Rani cried out. "I can heal him there!"

"Rani.." Nirmala began.

"It worked before," Rani reminded her friend. "Remember when Grandmother was able to channel the Tree's energy and heal Ono?" The group nodded and Rani continued. "If it worked then I can get it to work now."

"Sis that seams pretty far fetched," Baliyo said.

"Well its better than just letting him die Baliyo!" Rani shouted. "Can you guys carry Sarak back to the Tree?" Rani looked at her friends when she said this part.

"We're on it," Azaad said as he, Fuli, Baliyo and Nirmala got underneath Sarak and gently picked him up and carried him back to the Tree all of them hoping Rani would be able to save him.

TLKTLKTLK

Back in the Pride Lands Kion was walking aimlessly thinking about his life. "I'm such an idiot," he thought miserably. "I should have at least talked to Kweli before killing him. That's what Dad would have done. Kings Above what am I going to do? I probably lost the love of my life because of my stupid actions. I can't go back to her after this." Kion lowered his head as the tears came. Kion cried for a few minutes, sinking to the ground. He didn't know how long he was there when he heard a voice call his name. Looking up Kion saw Kiara staring down at him with concern.

"Are you ok Ky?" Kiara asked, lowering herself beside her brother.

"I'm such an idiot Ki'," Kion whispered.

"Kion you're not an idiot," Kiara said. "You are one of the smartest lions I know."

"No I'm not," Kion said as the tears once again came. "I killed someone without even thinking about the consequences of doing so. I was so angry at Rani at first but the more I thought about it the more I realized that she's right. And I...I'm beginning to wonder if...if I'm more like him than I thought."

"More like who?" Kiara asked, clearly confused

"Him," Kion repeated. "Scar. He killed without thinking too. Just like I did."

"Oh Kion I thought you moved past that," Kiara said.

"I thought I did too," Kion said with a sigh. "But with everything that's happened lately I'm beginning to have doubts again. I was so stupid in thinking what I did was the right thing. And yeah it did help me gain a little confidence back but Rani's reaction is making things worse."

"I thought you said Rani wasn't angry with you," Kiara said.

"Oh she was plenty angry with me," Kion said with a heavy sigh. "I mean she did ask me for forgiveness so I think she felt a little bad about what she said."

"Well that's something at least," Kiara said with a smile.

"Yeah I guess so," Kion said with another sigh. "But the truth is Ki': I'm still angry with her. She really hurt me with what she said. Even if it was a little true it still hurts me that someone I love so much could think that low of me. Even for a second."

"Oh Kion," Kiara whispered, nuzzling her little brother. "Anyone would feel the same in your position. I know I would. But you've gotta think of the big picture here."

"What do you mean?" Kion asked.

"I'm talking about long term consequences," Kiara said. "You've gotta ask yourself if it's worth it staying married to Rani and being King. Do you still love Rani?"

"Of course I do," Kion responded. "I love her more than anything."

"And do you love being King?" Kiara asked.

"Well yeah I do," Kion admitted. "I love the Tree of Life. The animals there are really nice and they treat me and Rani with respect."

"Well Ky I think you already know what you want," Kiara said with a smile as she stood.

"Yeah," Kion said softly as he also stood. "I do. Thanks Kiara. You're the best." Kion gave Kiara a nuzzle when he said this part. Just then Kovu approached the brother and sister.

"Kiara there you are," the brown coated lion said, sounding a little angry. "I've been looking all over for you."

"Sorry Kovu," Kiara said with a slight laugh. "I was talking with Kion. He..." But she was cut off by her mate's angry voice.

"You shouldn't be out this late," Kovu declared, looking up at the night sky. "Its too dangerous. Plus its getting cold out. Rafiki said that if you get sick it could be really bad for the cub."

"Oh Kovu relax," Kiara said with another laugh as she nuzzled her mate. "I'm fine. A little chill in the air isn't going to make me sick."

"Yeah," Kion said with a laugh of his own. "Besides I've been with Kiara the whole time. She was perfectly safe."

"Yeah sure cause you're the strong one aren't you Kion?" Kovu said, rolling his emerald eyes. "And Kiara doesn't need the stress of whatever the Hell's going on with you so I'd appreciate it if you didn't dump your problems on her."

"I didn't dump my problems on her," Kion said, getting a little angry at Kovu's attitude.

"Kovu what is wrong with you?" Kiara demanded, narrowing her amber eyes at her mate. "Why are you being so mean?"

"I just don't want you to have any unneeded stress," Kovu declared. "And you shouldn't have to deal with your brother's problems."

"I was being a good sister," Kiara said, the anger creeping into her voice. "And if it was Vitani that was having problems then you'd be doing the same thing."

"Kiara.." Kovu began. But he was but off by Kiara's angry growl.

"You know Kovu you say you don't want me to have any stress," the golden brown lioness said. "But right now the only thing that's stressing me out is you!"

"Kiara I was just trying to look out for you," Kovu said, a little surprised by his mate's reaction.

"I don't need looking after all the time," Kiara snapped. "Kings Above Kovu you're worse than my father." Kion couldn't help but snicker slightly when his sister said that, earning a glare from Kovu.

"This isn't funny Kion," Kovu growled, glaring at Kion.

"Geeze Kovu why don't you relax?" Kion said with another laugh.

"Just because you don't give a shit about your mate doesn't mean everyone does," Kovu hissed. "I actually love my mate and want to protect her."

"I do care about Rani!" Kion hissed back, his amber eyes flashing with anger. "And who the Hell do you think you are Kovu?! You don't know a damn thing about me or my relationship! So shut the Hell up!"

"I know you abandoned your mate when she needed you the most," Kovu said, his voice low. "That doesn't exactly scream love to me."

"What the Hell would you know about love?!" Kion growled. "You were raised by Zira. The only thing she knew how to do was hate. And looks like you're just like her aren't you?!"

"That's it!" Kovu roared, lunging at Kion and tackling him to the ground. Kion shoved his brother-in-law off of his and stood. But Kovu wasn't about to back down and he tackled Kion again.

"Guys stop!" Kiara shouted, going to separate her mate and brother. This turned out to be a mistake as the two lions were so engrossed in fighting they accidently hit Kiara, causing her to hit the ground hard.
