A New Sinister Threat.
An eventful ordeal was over. Martin Li had been stopped and has now been sent to prison where he belongs. Cassandra had been so stressed out during the whole ordeal, but now that Li was finally stopped, she has earned her much needed rest. She had gone back to MJ's apartment where she past out on her bed, finally, she could sleep. She had slept for a couple of hours, until she suddenly woke up when she heard someone was trying to contact her. Despite being tired, she managed to reach out, grab her communicator and answer it.
"Hello?" She spoke.
"Cass. Sorry to wake you up, but we got a problem" Came the voice of Peter.
Cassandra was now wide awake and sat up "What happened?".
"The truck carrying the Devil's Breath was attacked. If the demons got their hands on it then I don't even want to imagine what could happen. I sent you the location, meet me there if you can" Peter said.
"I'm on my way" Cassandra said, as she began putting her suit on. She was very annoyed that another problem emerged right after they took care of the last one. A hero's job is never done.
"Cassandra?" MJ said in concern after hearing the commotion.
"The Devil's Breath is at risk. Me and Peter need to make sure the demons don't have it" Cassandra said.
"Cassandra, you haven't had nearly enough sleep yet. And you are still recovering from your fight with Li. Let Peter handle this" MJ all but begged.
"You know I can't do that. And he decided to inform me instead of leaving me out of it. Can't look like a hypocrite now" Cassandra said as she put on her mask and jumped out the window.
"Damn... be careful" MJ said as she watched Cassandra leave.
Cassandra soon arrived at the crime scene, just moments after Peter "Where is everyone?".
"I don't know" Peter answered as he looked around.
Suddenly they saw Yuri arrive in a helicopter "The Devil's Breath is gone, but we got even bigger problems. Hop on".
Cassandra climbed on to Peter's back as he swings them on to the helicopter "Ryker's…? What happened?".
"It was a coordinated attack. Must've been planned from the outside. Every cell block is breached. We're minutes away from every prisoner in Ryker's walking right up Fifth Avenue" Yuri explained.
"What about The Raft?" Peter asked.
"Should be okay. It's a supermax facility better security, and a separate power grid" Yuri answered.
"Good. What about Devil's Breath?" Peter asked.
"Sable's handling it" Yuri answered.
Peter did not like the sound of that "Do you trust them?".
Yuri looked at him "Do I have a choice?".
"We can worry about that later. We need to stop the prisoners before the escape in to the city" Cassandra said as they fly up to prison. Only to see a truck traveling at full speed.
"Uh-oh" Peter said as he jumps down and Cassandra let go of him as he lands on the truck and throws out the driver "Should've worn your seat belt".
The truck crashes in to a large fuel tank causing a big explosion that set fire to parts of the surrounding area. Luckily the heroes managed to escape the blast, but the prisoners were dead set on escaping.
"Take 'em out! Hurry!" Yuri ordered.
"We're on it" Peter said.
The two heroes quickly began fighting the prisoners. Cassandra struck one of them in the face with a powerful punch, before quickly kicking another in the chest when he tried to attack her from behind. While she did that, Peter swings at a prisoner and kicked him hard enough to send him flying in to one of his friends. Peter then dodged a punch from the side before delivering a swift elbow to the prisoner's face, knocking him out right away. He then shot a web line on another prisoner before pulling him closer and punched him down.
Cassandra jumped and kicked the last two prisoners in the face a the same time "Ok, that takes care of these guys".
"Dammit! They got into the armory!" Yuri said.
"Is that bad? That sounds bad" Peter said.
"It means some of the inmates are armed with rocket launchers" Yuri explained.
"Rocket launchers?! Why would a prison need rocket launchers!?" Cassandra asked out loud.
"Beats me, but we need to hurry and stop them" Peter said, Cassandra nodded as they headed deeper in to the prison compound.
"Come in? This is Sergeant Hanson, anyone on this channel?" A Guard named Hanson asked over the radio.
"This is Captain Watanabe. Where are you?" Yuri asked.
"Electrical access… rooftop near cellblock D… trying to restore power. That you in the chopper?" Hanson asked.
"Affirmative. What happened here?" Yuri asked
"No idea. First the power went out then all hell broke loose" Hanson answered.
"Hold tight, we'll get to you as soon as we can. Spider-Man, can you get to that rooftop? There's an officer calling for help up there…" Yuri said.
"On it! Can you handle the prisoners on the ground, Batgirl?" Peter asked.
"I got them, help the guard" Cassandra said as they parted ways.
As Peter went to help the guard, Cassandra leaps around, avoiding attacks from the prisoners while hitting their pressure points. She then saw a prisoner aim a rocket launcher at her. He fired it, but she was able to dodge it and rushed at the prisoner before he could reload. He tried to hit her with the rocket launcher but she struck him in the stomach making him fall over.
"Where is everybody?! They're attacking my car!" Cassandra looked and saw a police car being attacked by prisoners who jumped at it. It was the Warden's car, and he crashed before being surrounded by the prisoners who proceeded to pound on his car.
Cassandra hurried over to help him. The prisoners didn't have time to react before Cassandra took two of them down with a quick strike to their necks. A large inmate stomped towards her, ready to crush her with his raw strength. But Peter swings in and kicked him in the back of the head, knocking him out cold, he may have been big and strong, but he was not Kingpin. The two heroes continued to deal with the rest of the inmates, with Yuri keeping watch from the sky, even preventing them from escaping with a stole helicopter finally restoring some level of control.
"Okay, looks like things are somewhat under control…" Yuri said, until there was an explosion at the Raft.
"I thought you said The Raft was secure?!" Peter said.
"It was. Let's go" Yuri ordered and the two heroes got on her helicopter "Maybe it's not as bad as it looks".
"Love the optimism. But in my experience… when it looks bad… it's usually worse" Peter said, but as they got closer, a bald man covered in sparks showed up "Look out!".
The man fired an lightning bolt at the helicopter, causing it to spin out of control. Cassandra lost her grip and had to use her grappling hook to save herself from a deadly fall. She collapsed for a moment, needing to catch her breath. She was getting tired. So many events had happened, and she had very little rest between each one. Her body may be at it's peek, but there is only so much she could take before he body gives out. What she would do to have super human enhancements right now.
"Batgirl, are you alright?" Peter asked.
"I'm fine. Who was that guy?" Cassandra asked.
"Max Dillon, AKA Electro, he is pretty much a living source of electricity. He must've had something to do with the power going out and he is letting out the other prisoners" Peter explained.
"If they make it in to the city, they will cause anarchy. We have to stop them" Cassandra declared as she got up "I will do what I can on my end. Will you be alright on your own?".
"Don't worry about me. Just be careful" Peter said.
"Understood, see you soon" Cassandra said before she hurried inside the prison to stop anyone from escaping.
It was a mess. Everywhere she went, there were more and more inmates that needed to be stopped. Cassandra ran down a hallway until she stopped when she spotted someone in a cell. Someone very familiar. The first villain she faced when she arrived in this world.
"Fisk..." She said silently.
The large man looked up "You. Haven't seen you in a while, child".
"I am surprised you aren't trying to escape" Cassandra admitted.
"You think I am a fool? The Spider was not wrong when he said I had many enemies. Trying to escape in this chaos, without any of my men to help me, that would be a good opportunity for a potential rival to kill me. Like that mad man, Martin Li" Fisk said.
"Like he has done anything you haven't" Cassandra said with a glare.
Fisk looked her her calmly "I love my city. Li is a madman who wants to destroy everything. What he did was apaling, even for me".
"Just because you are the lesser of the two evils, it doesn't make you any less evil. If you are not going to escape, then stay put. Or I will hunt you down and throw you back in here myself" Cassandra warned as she was about to leave.
"Tell me child. How does it feel, knowing I was right?" Fisk asked, making Cassandra stop "I warned you, and the Spider. That locking me up would do more harm than good. Now, look around you. Low life criminals running rampant. A terrorist bombing that claimed the life of a good and honest cop, and all those demons gunning down everyone they see. How does it feel knowing all this is your fault, hero?".
Cassandra grabbed him by his collar "Shut up! You never did anything good for the city!".
Fisk wasn't the least bit intimidated "I kept the crime rate in check. If I had still been in charge, the City Hall bombing would've never taken place. I belive you know this".
Cassandra glared at him, she wanted to beat him up so bad, to leave him broken and struggling for air... but she knew she couldn't do it... and part of her knew he was right. Putting him in here just triggered a power vacuum, which gave way for an even greater threat. She let him go and walked away.
Fisk smiled "Don't worry child. Once I get out, I will remind all those punks of their place. And I will get out, but I will do it my way".
Cassandra said nothing as she walked away before contacting Peter "What's the situation?".
"Not good. Electro, Rhino, Scorpion, Vulture and Martin Li has all escaped from their cells" Peter answered.
Cassandra got wide eyes "No! Li can't be allowed to escape after the nightmare he caused! Where are you? I will come help!".
"I am outside, still trying to catch Electro" Peter answered.
"Got it! I am on my way" Cassandra said as she hurried outside.
She spotted Peter in the distance, landing on a platform, with five villains surrounding him, including Li. It was easy to guess what name belonged to what villain, so Cassandra began rushing towards them. As hurried towards them, the villains attacked Peter.
Vulture flew at Peter but he punched him away, before having to block a blow from the massive villain Rhino. But this left him open for the tailed villain Scorpion to hit him with his tail. Vulture tried to attack him again, but Peter kicked him away before swinging around for a bit and kicked Scorpion down, only to have to block a blast from Li. Peter then jumped at Rhino trying to hit him, only to be grabbed by Vulture who took him in to the air, but Peter managed to break free before punching Vulture down. But the second he landed, Peter was stabbed in the back by Scorpion's stinger.
Cassandra got wide eyes as she saw Peter fall and the villains began to brutally beat on him "NO!".
She ran as fast as she could. Peter was so badly beaten he couldn't even try to fight back. When they finally let up, he tried to crawl away, only for Electro to blast him with his power. Cassandra was almost there, Peter just needed to hang on for a few more seconds... but then someone else showed up... Doctor Octavius... the man who Peter looked up to... the man who was so friendly to both of them... he was with the villains? He used some long arms to lift Peter up.
"First and final warning. Stay out of our way" He warned.
"STOP IT!" Cassandra screamed as she finally reached them, Otto looked at her before tossing Peter down towards the water below "NO! Why?!".
"Wrong questions, Batgirl. Now you have a choice. Try in vane to stop us. Or save your friend" Otto said coldly.
Cassandra looked at the villains, each of them smirking at her, silently daring her to try and fight them. Cassandra glared at them before rushing past them. Otto did nothing as Cassandra jumped and dived towards the water. He only smiled, she made the smart choice.
Down in the water, Cassandra found Peter floating, she quickly swam up to him and held on to him "Hang on Peter. I got you... I got you..." She struggled to keep them afloat as she looked around for anything that could help... then she saw a rescue boat "Hey!... Over here!".
The boat shined it's light on them, and the welcoming voice of Yuri was heard "There they are!".
The boat pulled up next to them and they helped pull Peter's unconscious body on board, and Cassandra managed to climb on, with a little help from Yuri. Cassandra collapsed, coughing a lot as she tried to breath. Yuri rubbed her back to help with the cough.
"Easy there kid. You are safe now" Yuri assured.
"It was over... I thought it was over... It was supposed to be over!" Cassandra said as she angrily slams her fist down.
"Hey, hey, easy there" Yuri said as she held on to Cassandra... who ended up starting to cry. She was so tired... so frustrated... nothing had gone right... every time it looked like something was going their way, something bad happened.
Cassandra ended up passing out in Yuri's arms... she had no strength left.

Changed up a few things. Sorry for Cassandra not taking part in the fight against the villains... but let's be honest here: Had Cassandra taken a part in that fight, she would've died, or at the very least ended up crippled. She is tough for a human, but there is no way she could handle a beating from 5 super powered villains at the same time.
And even with Peter's help, I don't think they would've been able to beat them, given the villains held a major advantage in both number and in power. And the spot they were fighting on would leave little to no room for our heroes to dodge the villains for long.
Not to mention, Cassandra is not at 100% yet, she is still tired and injured from all the other fights. So the situation was pretty much unwinnable for them.
