'Hiroto's hand slid up Yua's bare leg, her eyes closing with the slight tremble of anticipation that wracked her body.' Kakashi's dark grey eye slid over the edge of his book to where Kagome sat at her desk, one leg bent on her chair as the other draped over the side while she read over the file.

He liked this, a comfort enveloping around the room after their earlier conversation as he lounged on her bed with his book and she looked over a few things before work tomorrow. 'Yua bit her lip and shifted beneath him, fingers flexing in his shirt before pulling it higher up his body.'

The book in his hand tipped slightly, he didn't need to read it to know the words having read it so many times. Looking at her in her sleeping clothes he wondered if this was a good idea, during their mission together he had been able to keep his composure, they hadn't been a couple which made everything so much simpler but now all he wanted was the opposite.

"What's wrong?" she glanced up and tucked her hair behind her ear, "you keep looking at me."

"Because you're pretty."

Kagome jerked slightly and lifted her head fully, mouth slightly agape as a blush coated her cheeks. When did she turn into the girl that blushes because a guy called her pretty? "I'm almost finished," she managed to mumble, untucking her hair to create a curtain.

"No rush." His finger held the spot between the pages as he shut the cover, "you called me your boyfriend."

Ebony hair swayed gently, chestnut eyes peering at him from between the strands, "I mean we haven't gone over labels or anything but—"

"No, no," he waved off her words and set his book to the mattress, swinging his legs over the side of the bed, walking closer. He gently pried the folder from her hands and set it to the corner of her desk, turning her chair to him and leaning over her. "I kind of like it."

"Kind of?" Kagome's tongue darted out to wet her lips, tipping her chair back slightly to look at him better.

He gave a shallow nod, kneeling in front of her and tucking her hair behind her ear gently, "you're also argumentative," he continued thoughtfully, "and so damn frustrating." Kakashi watched her mouth snap shut and frown, her head tilting as her eyes narrowed slightly, "are you always so charming, Kakashi?"

"Why?" he chuckled at her question, moving his hands to brace his forearms on the armrests and allowing his fingertips to dance lightly against her skin.

"Why what?"

"Why do you argue about everything with everyone?"

Kagome dropped her foot from the chair, shifting when Kakashi nestled comfortably between her knees as he waited for her answer. "Kikyō never did, even when she wanted to so I did it for her… I guess I never grew out of it."

"I'm not your enemy, I don't like arguing with you." Kakashi sighed and smiled, fingers twitching against her legs when she shifted them more against him, he shouldn't have read that section of the book but he wasn't going to skip pages.

Biting her lip at the gentleness of his touch against her Kagome tipped her head up to look at the ceiling, "I'll work on it." She gave a nod and lowered her gaze to his, "and I don't argue with everyone."

"Okay," he relented with a laugh, kissing her softly and standing to retreat back to the bed as he eyed his book, the words already coming to him before he could crack the spine having read it so many times. 'Hiroto's knee slipped between Yua's legs to keep them apart, palming her breast and earning a gasp of—'

"Hey Kagome!" Naruto bounded enthusiastically through the door, his blue eyes roaming over her room in a hurry before darting back to Kakashi.

The jōnin wore his lazy expression with ease, heart hammering as he held the book before his face and fumbling with the mask behind the barrier. Satisfied it was firmly in place, he removed the book and rested his head against the wall, "good evening, Naruto."

"Wha… um…" the jinchūriki blinked and shook his head, scratching under his forehead protector as he turned his attention to the still woman at her desk, eyes wide and face blank. "I just… wanted to tell you I'm back… and um Iruka-sensei said I owe you two an apology for earlier."

Kagome's eyes bounced between the men, her back hurting from the ramrod posture she adapted in her nervousness. This wasn't ever what she wanted and wrote a quick reminder to herself on her notepad to find an apartment, 'time to be a big girl…' "Okay," she cleared her throat and turned her attention back to him, "go ahead?"

The blonde squared his shoulders and crossed the floor, "you are one of the only people that have treated me nice from the beginning and now that you're dating I'm scared it'll go away like you."

Kagome set her pen to the side and shoved the folder away, "you think because I'm dating Kakashi I'll go away?" bracing her head in her hand, her mouth twisted slightly, "he learned his lesson the first time, he knows he can't keep us apart. I'm going to keep standing right behind you until you reach Hokage, I haven't gone back on that word have I?"

"No," he grinned and tossed his arms around her neck, "thanks Kags, you're the best!"

"You smell like ramen," she rubbed his back before he pulled away with a wrinkled nose.

"You smell like sake."

Rolling her eyes, Kagome picked her pen back up and crossed out her reminder, she could live like this a little longer after all.

"Kakashi-sensei," Naruto ventured closer to the bed and twisted his face into what Kakashi deemed his 'serious business face'.

Turning his attention from his book, Kakashi arched a brow in silent question, 'he's so much like Obito…' The thought sent a wave of emotions over him, tuning his voice in and out before blinking out of his stupor when Kagome's pen collided with the side of his face.

"—hurt her I'm going to kill you." Fire blazed in the depths of Naruto's eyes, signaling it was a blessing to the relationship as well as a threat before the jōnin nodded his thanks.

"I wouldn't dream of it, Naruto; I care for her quite a bit." Kagome's cough earned a hidden smile, she would really never know just how long or how much he had been feeling that way after all.

Naruto scrutinized him for a few breaths before his face relaxed, "I guess I'll… go to bed or somethin'…"

"Good night Naruto," Kakashi's eye crinkled as Kagome echoed his words, the pair watching him trudge from the room. Rocking to his feet, Kakashi shut the door gently and scooped Kagome's pen in his hand, "I'm glad I decided to stay tonight."

"If his career as a teacher doesn't pan out, Iruka should become a shrink, whatever he said to Naruto worked…" Kagome mumbled in awe, "that's why we tag team."

She held her hand out for her pen, climbing to her feet when Kakashi held it farther from her. "You tossed it at me, it's mine now."

"Alright," she scoffed and dove on her bed, wiggling the book at him, "this is mine."

Kakashi's eye darkened as she flipped it open and propped her head on the pillow comfortably. "Where are we today?" she teased, flipping the pages and allowing her eyes to gloss over the words.

Kakashi knelt at the foot of the bed and crawled closer, arms holding his full weight before shifting to tug the book from her grip, "I think," he settled it beside him and flipped quickly with an 'ah' and a nod, "here we are… 'Hiroto's knee slipped between Yua's legs to keep them apart,'" Kakashi followed suit with his knee between her legs, watching her swallow hard as the book flipped shut and he returned his hand beside her head to hold his weight. "'His hand dancing across the exposed skin of her stomach up to her breast and rubbing her nipples into peaks—'"

Kagome lifted her hand to clamp over his mouth, dragging her gaze from his and releasing her breath in a nervous woosh. "I hate your book."

Shaking her hand from his mouth, Kakashi dipped his head into the juncture of her shoulder, thankful for all of the clothing between them to act as a barrier. "We should go to bed," the words were muffled by her skin, not trusting himself to expose his face and kiss her skin.

Holding her breath, the kunoichi managed a nod and arched into him to dislodge him, stilling when he pressed his hips into her to stop her movements. Inhaling deeply, he released the breath slowly and allowed himself to fall to the side, reaching back over her to grab his book and shove it in his pocket.

Kagome rolled from the bed and flipped the light off, padding back to the bed and pulling the covers back. "Thanks for staying," she ran the edge of the sheets between her fingertips, happy he couldn't see her face, "sometimes I miss sharing my bed with you."

"You do?"

"I got used to it going to the Land of Ice," she shrugged and settled under the blankets fully, "sleeping alone after that got a little… lonely."

Shifting closer, Kakashi tentatively draped his arm over her waist, pulling her against his chest and closing his eye. 'I had that feeling too,' the thought drifted through his mind as he drifted off to sleep.
