Captain America meets the Hunt chapter 11

Aria woke up with a very sore head it felt like she had been hit by a club then trampled by centaurs. She slowly sat up and looked around recognising Artemis's tent she turned to see Artemis sitting on a bear skin with Nia lying next to her.

"Lady Artemis." She greeted

"Take it easy." Artemis stated as Aria got up into a sitting position.

"Milady what happened?" Aria asked but as soon as she did she remembered she had fought Zoe she tried to kill her. "Zoe?" She asked

"Is fine, she and the others have moved on. I stayed here to talk with you." Artemis stated

"About what?" Aria asked she dreaded the answer part of her was expecting to be kicked out after all she did try to kill Zoe and had Artemis not intervened she dreaded to know what would have happened.

"I am going to tell you a story. It happened a long time ago. Before western civilisation, even before the Roman Empire back when we were in Greece. I was in the Southern forest with the Hunt we were tracking a monster one I had not seen in a long time. I had three other parties hunting different monsters when they all crossed the same path. We tracked them to the edge of my domain they had all left the forest heading for the mortals. I was curious to know what they were up to so I sent some of my hunters out to track them. By them going out I could keep an eye over them and see what was going on. One of the hunters was young, she had not been in my service for very long. She however had great potential so I sent her with one of my senior hunters the two of them tracked the monsters all the way to a small kingdom. At the time this kingdom was called Alia it was small but wealthy. The lands were very rich and the farming was good. At first we were confused at what so many monsters were doing there but it seemed that just because this kingdom was small and rich their defences were very good. Some of the best warriors were from Alia. They fought off the monsters...it was the young hunter that recognised it was a diversion the monsters were attacking getting the soldiers to fight in one area as they were doing that one of the monsters slipped by and made it into the castle. By this point the mortals were praying to the gods for help. I was allowed to go to my hunters together we made it into the castle where we came across so many dead. Servants, nobles the like. It was in the throne room we confronted the monster, or more accurately someone else was confronting the monster. The queen laid dead off to the left next to her son. The person fighting the monster a Laestrygones was a girl, she was no ordinary girl she was a demigod. We were about to assist her when things got a little weird. The girl was winning she was about to kill the monster when they were both surrounded by golden light as she slayed the monster. At first I thought it was his blessing but it was the wrong kind of energy. That was when I recognised exactly whose energy it was. That was when they turned up. The girl looked around her sword still in her hands she was confused more than anything and sad as she looked around she went over to the Queen, the castle walls shook, screams could still be heard from the fighting outside. Then it fell silent. Most of the mortals died from the monsters leaving dark energy it was Zeus that declared that we wipe the land."

"The girl...she joined your service."

"Yes." Artemis replied

"No, I was born in England." Aria stated she knew that Artemis was saying this was her story, but her memories were clear as day she was born in England not Greece.

"It was the Fates that turned up after you slayed the Laestrygone. They said that your string was entwined with the monsters. That you summoned Apollo's sword he did not give it to you. That was how you were able to fight him. That whenever he rose, he would be looking to kill the last Princess of Alia. That is his purpose now just as it is yours to slay him."

"Are you saying that every time I cross his path; I kill it?" She asked it was only logical seeming she was still alive. "If so, why have I got no memory of this? I have never fought a Laestrygones."

"You summoned Apollo's sword, held it and wielded it. Aria you were cursed because of it. You are immortal. More so than my blessing. That is how you got the name Golden Hunter. If the Laestrygones kills you, you do not die. He killed you the last time you fought...600 years ago. Some of the hunters tried to assist you in your fight. It did not turn out well."

"I lost my memory?"

"No, when you came too and discovered the others...you had rage..."

"Artemis tell me." Aria stated she could tell it was not good as Artemis paused it looked like she wanted to stop.

"You went off on your own, you said you would not be the cause of losing any more sisters. You left my domain...My father sent me after you when..." again she stopped

"Artemis what did I do?"

"You destroyed a small fishing village. You wanted Poseidon to kill you. You even tried to fight me. It was not your fault."

"You said I was cursed, being made immortal is not really a curse. What is my curse?"

"Every few centuries something happens. It usually ends..."

"You taking my memory. Why are you telling me this now?" Aria asked

"He is once again coming for you." Artemis stated at this Aria was not wanting to believe her, if this was true that meant everything else was too.

"Lady Artemis..." Aria had no idea what she was going to say. Before she could gather her thoughts though the ground shook. Aria's eyes widened in panic, she was not ready for this. She got up and moved outside looking around. Nia was growling she turned to see Artemis behind her. Aria made the signal for Nia to leave and she turned to Artemis wanting well anything from her. She wanted her to say this was one weirdly inappropriate joke but all she got was a seldom look from her before Artemis flashed away.
