Preface: Happy October, everyone! Yes, I can't believe spooky season is already upon us once more. Welcome, everyone, to the final chapter of Chaos Haven! This will conclude the story with the final battle before the epilogue completely wraps things up and sets up future development.
Before we begin, a shout-out to CVGWJames for following me and making me a favorite author. Us noobs gotta stick together, and maybe we can spread this story far and wide! And, also, we hit 100 views! Even if about half of them were re-views, this means a good amount to me, since I originally stated out just doing this for my friends. With that, onto the final battle!

Previously...as their journey through the world of Whisker Haven became more and more chaotic, Sonic, Tails, and their friends and newfound allies have loosened Metal Sonic's control more and more, finally making it onto the Death Egg Model S and taking care of Metal Sonic's main threat.
Now...Sonic prepares to take on a supercharged Metal Sonic as the others rescue the remaining captives.

Chapter 10:
Panic in the Atmosphere

The cold atmosphere of outer space overwhelmed everyone as Metal Sonic flew off. Unlike with the garbage chute, everyone was able to keep a grip on the surface, but they were still stunned about what to do.
When Sonic regained his wits, however, he got an idea. "Knuckles, you said those Chaos Rings are crystallized Chaos energy?"
"Affirmative," said Knuckles, "But I don't think-"
"Then we fight Chaos with Chaos," Sonic interrupted. He grabbed all seven Chaos Emeralds and began to levitate in the air. The emeralds encircled him and put their power into him. The hedgehog's blue quills turned upright and yellow, and his usually emerald green eyes turned a more striking red. The emeralds then seemed to enter his body, and a golden aura surrounded him.
Sonic was now Super Sonic!

"Oh, my dearest me!" cried Ms. Featherbon in awe. "Have you gained magical powers?"
"Not exactly," said Sonic, "but there's no time to explain! You help evacuate everyone! I'll take care of this myself!" After that, he flew off to face Metal Sonic.
"Seriously? That's it?" cried Tails. "We follow Sonic all this way and all we do is help everyone escape?"
[Location Change: Greater Outer Space]
Sonic flew for what felt like hours, but it was actually quite shorter. Either way, he eventually faced the devilish appearance of the transformed Super Titan Metal Sonic.
"Alright, Metal!" he said. "Time to end this!"
"Indeed," said Metal Sonic. After that the two charged at each other. Metal Sonic fired a laser from his chest, but Sonic dodged it and landed a Super Sonic Spin Attack on his face. Oddly, it barely made a dent.
"Wow! He really is Chaos-powered!" said Sonic. "But I can probably still-" Suddenly, Metal Sonic grabbed him with his giant hands.
"Hah, such futile attempts to stop me," said Metal. "But it's time to say goodbye."
With a squeeze, Metal Sonic forced the Chaos Emeralds be forced out of his organic counterpart, and Sonic returned to his normal state, but in a huge amount of pain. Sonic was cast away, back towards the Death Egg Model S, the emeralds still circling him.

"Alright, everyone! The transport is here! C'mon! No pet left behind!"
The rest of the heroes were making sure the captives made it out of the Death Egg Model S safely, with Amy leading them towards Uncle Chuck's Hover Bus.
"Okay, that seems to almost be the last of them," said Treasure. "Do you think we should go see how Sonic is doing?"
As if summoned, Sonic suddenly crashed into the Prison Hall, face-first. The Chaos Emeralds spilled out of him and scattered around.
"I tried to tell you," said Knuckles, shaking his head, "with the Master Emerald's power, Metal's unstoppable."
"Cut the snark," said Sonic, standing up and shaking himself off.
"Perhaps we need more power," suggested Pumpkin. "What if we all go in and attack the robot at once?"
"I'm not sure if all of us can even use the Chaos Emeralds," said Ray. "I mean, Mighty and I only just found out we had our own Super forms."
At that moment, Uncle Chuck, having heard the commotion, put the Hover Bus in park and stepped out. "I think I have an idea."

"Ah, Muttski's proper owner," said Ms. Featherbon. "What do you propose?"
"I have recently been researching a phenomenon known as the Hyper Mode," explained Chuck. "It is achieved by giving someone a fraction of the Chaos Emeralds' power, and it gives someone remarkably similar power to a Super form."
"Say, that's it!" said Tails. "We'll go into our Hyper states!"
"Actually, Hyper Mode is not the same as Hyper forms," said Chuck.
"And even then," added Sonic, "wouldn't we need the Master Emerald for them?"
"Hmm, lemme try something…" Knuckles took the Chaos Emeralds and closed his eyes. He then proceeded to say a prayer that had been passed down to him:
"The servers are the seven Chaos. Chaos is power enriched by the heart. The Master is the one that unifies the Chaos."
A sudden influx of power overtook him, and said power entered the Chaos Emeralds. All at once, they suddenly grew and started glowing.
"Yeah! The Super Emeralds!" said Sonic, excitedly. "Let's get this show on the road!"
He, Tails, and Knuckles all stood around the seven Super Emeralds. They all started levitating, and then, the emeralds' power fueled them all. Sonic's quills once again turned upright and his eyes became red, but his quills now flashed all the different colors of the rainbow. Tails's fur started glowing and four golden Flickies began circling him. And Knuckles's fur started glowing in a similar manner.
They were now Hyper Sonic, Hyper Tails, and Hyper Knuckles!
"Okay, but what about the rest of us?" said Mighty.
"What if I do this?" suggested Ms. Featherbon. She approached the Super Emeralds and they began to surround her. She put her wings together and began shooting magical spheres, not unlike the ones that she used to open up the portal to Whisker Haven. The emeralds' accelerated even more, and their power seemed to refract, similarly to a prism.
When the lights faded, most of the allies had a collection of stars surrounding them, signifying the start of Hyper Mode. The only exceptions were Mighty and Ray, who both gained Hyper forms of their own, and Amy and Pumpkin, who both were surrounded by magical auras, similar to a Super form. Pumpkin's aura was purple, while Amy's was golden.
"Oh, my!" said Dreamy. "All this power is amazing!"
"But I've never had a Super form before," said Amy. "Is this like my own Super form?"
But before they could question it further, the fact that I made this transformation sequence so long finally backfired on the heroes, and Metal Sonic ripped off the roof of the Death Egg Model S.
"Of course! It was so obvious!" he boomed. "Attack the heroes while they were still here!"
"Well, this is where your reign of terror ends, Metal!" shouted Sonic.
"Yes! Now it's time for you to see the real royal heart of friendship!" shouted Ms. Featherbon.
And so, the heroes and Metal Sonic shot up into the air, ready for a debatably anti-climactic beatdown.

Metal Sonic began shooting all sorts of lasers at everyone, but they simply dodged the lasers and hit Metal in retaliation. And this time, the added Chaos energy made Sonic an actual threat.
"No! This extra Chaos energy is unstoppable!" shouted Metal Sonic.
"Woo! This is awesome!" said Charmy, sticking his stinger right in Metal Sonic's hand.
"One more punch oughta do it!" shouted Mighty. He flew up to Metal Sonic and dealt one quick punch, sending the arm flying off.
"That's it!" Metal Sonic growled. He reached his remaining hand out and grabbed Pumpkin, Berry, Treasure, and Sultan.
"Oh, come on!" shouted Sultan, angrily.
"Thought that was gonna work, didya?" snarked Sonic. He reeled up and split off the arm with a single Super Sonic Spin Attack.
"Go, Super Flickies!" cried Tails. All of the Flickies flew towards Metal Sonic's head, distracting the robot as the heroes decided to regroup.
"Okay, I think he's almost done for," said Amy. "We'll have to do one last attack, and then we're home free!"
"Wanna bet?" Metal suddenly shouted. Drawing upon every single bit of the Chaos Rings' energy remaining in his system, he shot one last powerful laser, sending all of the heroes flying. "Oh, that was exhausting," he moaned, hovering in place. It would take a bit to charge back up, but he would be severely weakened either way.

Uncle Chuck had just finished getting the last of the captives onto the Hover Bus when he noticed this occur. Quickly, he flew up to them and caught them in the bus.
"Whew, thanks, Unc!" said Sonic, standing up.
"No problem," said Chuck. He began to put in some controls. "Now, I think I have something that can defeat Metal Sonic." A huge laser shooter came out from the top of the bus.
"Okay, fighting lasers with lasers," said Vector. "I guess that'll work."
"Unfortunately, at this power level, it can only distract him," explained Chuck. "We're gonna need whatever power we have left."
"I get what you're saying," said Sonic. He focused for a moment and allowed the Super Emeralds' energy to be released from him. His quills returned to their usual blue and turned downward, and his eyes became green once more.
Everyone began to copy him, and the Chaos Emeralds began to appear back in the bus, to the awe of the freed captives.
The emeralds were placed into seven slots on the control panel, and the laser shooter began to power up.
"Ready, fire!" cried Chuck. The laser was sent towards Metal Sonic, engulfing him. However, he remained intact.
"It looks like it needs more power!" said Tails.
"But what can we use to make it stronger?" wondered Berry.
"Oh! I know!" said Ms. Featherbon. She reached into a pocket on her dress and pulled out a plastic bag with the same green dust the heroes found in the food shop.
"Glitterbits!" said Pumpkin. "Perfect!"
"That's what they're called?" said Espio. "And how will they help?"
"Just a little bit of glitterbits," sung Ms. Featherbon as she poured it into a power slot, "and Whisker Haven will be free as a snitch!"
"All systems are full power!" cried Uncle Chuck. "Fire in the hole!"
Back at full power, Metal Sonic performed one last charge, but was met face-to-face with one more laser, this time more powerful. "No!" he wailed. "It's more powerful than the Chaos Emeralds…"

With that, he seemed to vanish. The Chaos Rings flew off, back into the Special Zone, while the Master Emerald began to fall. Quickly, the Hover Bus flew over and Knuckles grabbed it.
"Oh, don't worry, baby," he said, comforting it, "you're safe now."
"How lonely are you?" said Mighty.
"We did it!" cried Sultan, jumping into the air. "We saved Whisker Haven!"
The Palace Pets and Ms. Featherbon put their hands together, before looking at the others, expectantly. The other heroes shrugged and put their hands in as well. The pets chanted "Hearts, hooves, paws!" and threw their hands into the air.
Suddenly, they all heard explosion sounds coming from the distance. Looking at the radar, Tails had a grim realization. "The Death Egg's falling towards Little Planet!" he shouted.
"Wait! I still have the Time Stones!" shouted Sonic. "Bring us back to the surface!"
Hastily, Chuck slammed his fist down on the "overdrive" button. The Hover Bus began speeding back towards the planet at alarming speeds, passing the remains of the Death Egg Model S and Little Planet.
[Location Change: Whisker Haven, Lake of Wishes]
"Okay, are you sure this'll work?" cried Ms. Featherbon as she and Sonic exited the Hover Bus.
"Nope," said Sonic, "but it's the best I've got!"
He unleashed all seven Time Stones, which began circling around. Ms. Featherbon sent her magic into the circle, and the power of the Time Stones began amplifying. It spread all across Little Planet, creating a magical shield that caused the remains of the Death Egg Model S to fade away as it came into contact.
After that, the metallic shell around Little Planet shattered alongside the chain, and it floated back into the atmosphere alongside the Time Stones, vanishing in an image of Sonic's head and leaving nothing but its magical flowers in its wake.
[BGM: SEGA SOUND TEAM - Cosmic Eternity - Believe in Yourself]
"Is it safe?" cried Treasure, jumping out of the Hover Bus.
"We saved it," said Sonic, "but it left. Back in the dimensional ether until next year."
"Oh, okay," said Treasure, disappointed.
"It's okay, Treasure," said Pumpkin, giving her a hug. "We can still celebrate it."
"In fact, why not have the farewell celebration early this year?" suggested Ms. Featherbon.
"Yeah, it can even serve as a victory celebration!" added Berry.
"Yeah, let's do it to it!" said Sonic.
And so, that night, the Whisker Haven Celebration of Time was held. The freed captives decorated the village and palace with streamers representing different eras, food from all across time was served, and music was played. Sonic and his friends even added their own touch with a display of Sega consoles and some of their finest rock'n'roll tunes. Overall, it was the best Celebration of Time that was ever held.
One notable part was Sonic stepping up onto the public stage in front of everyone. Dressed in her queen outfit she wears for the special Whisker Haven Whoop-De-Doo! show, Ms. Featherbon took a pinwheel and 'knighted' Sonic. "From this day forth," she said, "you shall be known as Sir Sonic, Honorary Palace Pet."
As the party began to wind down, the pets began to return to their respective princesses and the heroes used the Warp Zones to return home. Before long, only Sonic and Tails were left.
[BGM: A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes ("Cinderella") Instrumental]
"It was a pleasure to meet you two," said Ms. Featherbon. "You are by far the bravest people I've ever met."
"Well, I don't exactly do it pro," said Sonic. "I just saw trouble and knew I had to stop it."
"Will we ever see you again?" asked Treasure.
"Who knows?" said Sonic. "The world's a magical place. But what's important is that you don't waste your time, because someday, it'll all be over." After that, he charged up a Super Peel-Out and vanished back into the Warp Zone.
"I wish he could've stayed longer," said Treasure. "He was the first friend from his world I made."
"Well, that's just who he is," said Tails, shrugging. "Always looking for the next adventure." He turned to Ms. Featherbon. "Oh, and Uncle Chuck was considering doing something with you."
"Oh, he is?" said Ms. Featherbon. "I would be honored."
"Well, guess I'll be seeing you," said Tails. And then he followed Sonic through the Warp Zone.
Treasure and Ms. Featherbon both smiled at each other. They'll be back, they both thought. I just know it.
The end...almost!
Next chapter: It's all come down to this: the epilogue of Chaos Haven! With the kingdom saved and everyone back in their separate ways, it seems like the perfect opportunity to leave a note for what's to come in the future! Don't miss this chance to find out "What Happened After That!"
Postface: And that's that! The curtain's almost been called, the action's over, the swan song's been sung! I hope that the battle was still enjoyable for you, even if I was right about it being anticlimactic.
Trivia time! Super Titan Metal Sonic was based on the final boss of Knuckles' Chaotix, which is a powered-up version of Metal Sonic that was dubbed 'Titan Metal Sonic' in the Archie comics. You may recognize the prayer Knuckles does to tap into the Master Emerald's power as Tikal's Prayer from Sonic Adventure; it works similarly to how it does in the games. And the Hyper forms make an appearance! They come from Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles as an exclusive to the locked-on game. Tails's Hyper form was actually his Super form in the original game; I changed it to Hyper Tails for continuity sake, as Tails's Super form in Sonic Mania was in-line with the other Super forms. But what about the Hyper Modes? Those come from Sonic the Fighters, and it's a state that you can enter by putting up a shield in the final stage without all of the Chaos Emeralds. I used it here because I wanted the emeralds to power-up those without canon Super forms, including the Palace Pets, and just giving them straight-up Super forms like in the original version of this story just seemed dumb in hindsight. But what about Amy and Pumpkin? Those are a continuation of the subplot that began last chapter... Lastly, the Hover Bus was an original creation of mine, which was originally just a generic spaceship thingy. But then it gave me the perfect opportunity to use glitterbits!
Normally, I'd end it here, but since the epilogue's also up alongside this, I'm just gonna say, go on ahead!
