Hey guys, so I know this is narcissistic of me to make this birthday special for myself, but seeing as Ruby, My Fiance, and I share a birth month, I figured I could do this for both my fiance and myself. But I will say this: all .5 chapters will be offset stories from the main story that focus on humor aside from this one, kinda like RWBY chibi skits. Without further ado, please enjoy
So… today's the day huh?I thought as I sat up in bed looking at my scroll. The date reading October 7. The day I was born, unfortunately I won't be able to celebrate with my parents because I died on Earth, But this is Remnant so I wonder what the drinking laws here are? I guess I'll find out.
"Hey Achilles" Yang said to my left "What's up? You look a little depressed"
"This is my normal face Yang, and today I turn 21." I said as I got out of bed.
Her face lit up with excitement. "Ooh how are you going to celebrate?"
I shrugged "Maybe just go to a bar for one drink."
"Oh I know the perfect place for you, and we can go after class today!" Yang said with her fist in the air
"Wait wha-" I said confused
"We're running late! I suggest you two hurry up and get dressed!" Weiss yelled as she got out of the bathroom in her school uniform.
"Alright Ice Queen, I hear you!" I said as I grabbed my uniform and headed for the bathroom.
{Yang's perspective}
"So Weiss today is Achilles' birthday!" I told her
"Really? What should we get him?" Weiss asked
"Well I'm taking him somewhere if you, Ruby and Blake wanna plan something while we're out." I suggested
"Oh I have the perfect idea in mind!" Weiss said with her finger in the air
"No Weiss, I don't think he'll like that" I said shutting down whatever idea she came up with.
"What? He has been working at that smith every weekend making something!" Weiss replied
"What are you suggesting?" I asked
"That we… you know… help him out?" Weiss asked
I shook my head as Achilles came out in his uniform. "Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to sprint to class and hope Peach doesn't catch me." Achilles said before darting out of the room.
"We'll talk more later." Weiss told me.
"Alright, I'll meet you in class." I replied, grabbing my uniform and changing into it.
[Later after class]
{Still Yang's perspective}
Well class went about as normal, though Achilles didn't mention to the class or anyone else for that matter that he was turning 21 today. So I'll go and help him get his ID so that we can go to Junior's bar. Not that he checks anyway, he just wanted one to 'feel like he's a part of Vale'. Whatever that means, so I let him get dressed in the bathroom and we both headed to Vale to get his ID. And so he did, it was boring so I won't bore you with the details.
"You didn't have to come with me if you didn't want Yang." Achilles said as he put his new ID card in his wallet.
"Well I never really hang out with you anyway, so I figured why not?" I replied with a shrug. In reality Weiss whispered to me during class to keep Achilles busy by any means necessary until around 5 or if she ends up done earlier she'll call me. I have no idea what she is planning, but she had to go ask Rose for help. Plus she ran off before I could get any more questions. But since we're in vale I might as well hang out around all of the cool spots I know. Ooh like this arcade Ruby and I used to go to!
"Hey there's an arcade nearby, wanna check it out?" I asked him
He smiled and chuckled "Sure why not Yang, I'm sure there's some game you wanna show me that has your highscore in it anyway." He then shrugged.
"Um… yeah, How did you-" I said before he interrupted
"I've watched a lot of movies, this is one of those cliches that I've seen too often" He interrupted
"You and Blake are nerds." I noted
"Yeah but like Blake, I have my moments." Achilles said with a shrug as we entered. Getting the tokens needed was pretty easy, there were even drinks for Achilles to get. He also said something about 'Jack on the rocks', whatever that means. He ended up getting a Fireball whisky, in which he exhaled the flames like a dragon, quite literally.
"What is in this stuff?!" He yelped as he covered his mouth with his sleeve
"It was poured through a filter with fire dust crystals." The bar keeper explained giving Achilles a glass of water
"Now I know they do alcohol hardcore here" I heard him mumble.
"Hey there's the game I used to play with Ruby!" I said tapping his shoulder. The game itself was called Invaders of Remnant. It was an old school shoot-em-up that had you controlling a spaceship destroying anything in your path to the final boss. I looked at the highscores and sure enough, there was my highscore along side Ruby's, My name being YXL with 5,820 points with Ruby or RUB in second with 5,500 points. I heard him chuckle.
"That's your highscore? Those are rookie numbers. You gotta bump those up." He said as he inserted a token. After playing for what felt like forever, the final score flashed up. ADV with 10,230 points. Replacing me as the highest score, and a bunch of tickets came flooding out.
"How?" I said falling to my knees
"It's simple, find a corner that they never get to, wait for the overpowered powerup to spawn where you are, then go to town. It never gets old." He said as he picked his tickets up. He then whistled "100 tickets for 10,000 points? That's a good bargain."
"So you cheated." I deadpanned
"Cheating would imply there are rules. I'd call it an exploit." Achilles said with a sly smile.
We played more arcade games, I won some and he congratulated me on those victories. Almost like a dad in a way, but he has explicitly told us to stop calling him dad or daddy. I don't understand why it's wrong calling him a father figure, but I guess he's just weirded out by being called that. Hell he's old enough to be our dad. But anyway, enough on that because we ended up with a prize that Ruby has wanted ever since she was a kid, a red giant stuffed bear.
"I'll give this to Ruby when we get back." Achilles said as I carried the stuffed animal
"Are you sure? You did win it." I reminded him "Plus it is your birthday."
"Meh, I don't mind. After living 21 years, birthdays are just another celebration. Or I just like giving things. Now let's head for Juniors bar. I could use a Redpine ale, I heard that's the stuff." He said as he noticed Bumblebee parked out front. "Did you bring Bumblebee?" He asked
"Yeah, I had a feeling you would want something. I can just tie it to the back." I told him "That may not leave a lot of room for you."
Achilles then deadpanned at me "Yang, I am a stick. My ass is small. I think I'm fine"
"If you're sure," I said tying the new stuffed animal to the back of Bumblebee.
"Positive. Let's go." He said after I secured it.
…
I'll admit it was a tight fit, but we managed despite the fact that Achilles' ribs kept stabbing me in the back. How has he not gained any weight when he eats at least four maybe five meals a day?. Anyway I parked Bumblebee right outside the entrance as we walked in.
"You sure these guys are friends?" Achilles asked.
"Positive!" I said as we entered. "Hello everyone!"
After I said that I heard the sound of a lot of guns clicking. Achilles included.
"A, put those down." I told him
He sighed as he put his pistols away.
"Everyone back off!" Junior yelled as he pushed through. "What do you want this time Blondie?"
"A drink for my friend here." I told him, gesturing to Achilles. "Redpine ale. Get to it."
…
"Hm… not bad." Achilles said sipping his drink.
"Yeah, yeah. Any ID?" Junior asked.
That's weird, he doesn't ask me for mine. Achilles gave his to Junior and he looked at it for a moment and scanned it. "Alright you're good." He said placing his card back in front of Achilles
"Thank you, now I won't blow your head off." Achilles said as he took another drink. Damn I didn't think he'd threaten like that. I then felt my scroll buzz. Weiss texted me
Everything is set. Bring him to the dorm
Alright time to go. Looks like he's finished anyway. "Alright let's go back to the dorm A." I told him as he got up
"I was about to suggest the same thing." Achilles replied as he and I walked to the door.
"Hey you still need to pay!" Junior yelled behind us. Achilles pulled Kronos out of his holster as I readied Ember Celica and we both fired a round near his face. "You know what, it's on the house…" He reluctantly corrected.
[Hallway to RWBY+A's dorm]
{My perspective}
"Thank you Yang for today. I had more fun than I have in a long time." I told her.
"Don't sweat it A. You do a lot for us, this is the least we can do." Yang replied]
"If only the others could have joined. Minus Ruby, she can only get soda or apple cider." I said
"Yeah we don't need a drunk Ruby yet. And who said the others did nothing the entire time?" Yang said
"Wait what?" I responded.
"You'll see." She said as we approached our dorm. I knocked, no answer so I just opened it.
"SURPRISE!" Yelled Weiss, Blake, Rose (Jocelyn), Ruby, Jaune, Ren, Nora, and Pyrrha.
I honestly didn't know what to say. It was heartwarming to see all of the friends I made here in one room
"We were told today was your birthday." Pyrrha explained
"So Ren here made a cake and Rose picked out the flavor." Jaune continued
"It is white cake with strawberry filling and chocolate icing." Ren explained I also noticed it was a quarter sheet too. Enough to feed each of us twice.
"We also have presents for you!" Nora chimed
"And we even have a decoration for you!" Ruby said gesturing to the banner between Ruby and Yang's beds. I'll be honest, it made me shed a tear.
"Hey are you alright?" Blake asked as the others looked at me concerned
"Yeah, I'm fine. These are tears of joy…" I said taking my glasses off and wiping my eyes. "I really don't know what to say, you guys really didn't have to do all of this!"
"We wanted to. Rose told us how you normally spend your birthdays anyway on your computer. So here we are, celebrating. Now come on and blow your candles out." Weiss said as the cake was rolled out, pushed by Zwei. I know Ren is a good baker, but I didn't expect this. It was decorated with a black border with red writing that wrote 'Happy Birthday Achilles!" with candles that made the number 21 right in the center. Everyone sang Happy Birthday to me before I blew out the candles and took the first slice with my fiance feeding me. The celebration went great. I gave Ruby the teddy bear she has always wanted. I got a few weapon cleaning and repairing kits, as well as some new binders. I know that was from Weiss, but I won't complain. And even got some razors for 'the dead animal on my face' that is my beard. I also told them Rose's is next week after mine and they relit the candles for her to blow out. I couldn't resist and made a joke about a BJ. I then gave Rose a gift I got from the arcade that I had gotten with my left over tickets, an emblem that looked like a rose with the stem and all. Once it was curfew, JNPR as well as Rose said good night. I couldn't stop smiling even after they left. That was the happiest I've been in a long ass time
"Now that's one for the yearbook." Blake said taking a picture of me smiling.
"Stop it you." I chuckled
"Glad we could make your day Achilles." Ruby said with the most adorable smile
"Thank you for the best birthday I've had in a long time." I told her rubbing her head. "And thank you Weiss for putting all of this together."
Weiss blushed as she looked at the floor "I-I-It's no trouble, I just wanted to make sure you had a great birthday."
I chuckled once again. "You guys are amongst the best friends I've made in a long time."
"Aww… glad we can make it. Now since you're the birthday boy, why don't you take the first shower?" Yang offered
"Well thank you Yang. How kind of you" I snarked.
"Just get in there before I change my mind." She said with a chuckle.
After mine and everyone else's showers. They all wished me one last happy birthday as I turned off the lights and climbed into bed. I then fell asleep soon after. My exhaustion overwhelming me into a dreamless sleep

Like I said, I know it's rather narcissistic making a birthday special for me, but I wanted to celebrate somehow. Plus this .5 chapter was for both me and my fiance who has yet to read the rest of my fanfiction. But that aside, regular chapters will return this Sunday. The .5 chapters will pop up occasionally so that it doesn't confuse you guys.
