Amelia, Boscha, Willow, and Luz sat in the Treasure Shack.
"So, you really aren't going on the field trip next week, Luz?" Willow asked.
"Willow, why would I go on a trip to my house?" Luz said.
"She has a point, Willow." Boscha said, not looking up from her magazine.
"Well, what do you guys want to do?" Amelia asked.
"There really isn't much going on today." Willow said.
"There has to be something to do." Luz said.
"Sorry, Princess, but unless someone comes in with a magical adventure then you're out of luck." Boscha said.
Not a minute after she said that, a person came in.
"Hello? I need some help." They said.
"You were saying Boscha?" Luz said with a smile.
"Whatever." Boscha said, returning to her magazine.
Luz got up and walked over to the man. He was fairly tall, little over six feet. His hair looked to be made of pure fire. A small bit of facial hair on his chin. He wore welding goggles, black pants with flames printed on the side, a red tank top and fingerless black work gloves.
"How can we help you?" Luz asked.
"Greeting's; my name is Burner. The greatest metal worker on the Boiling Isles! I require assistance to help improve the Isles for generations to come."
"Improve the Isles? How?" Luz asked.
"I have found a way to power the Isles for the next thousand years. I just need help from some powerful witches to help power it."
Luz liked this idea. Her destiny was to help the Isles and this could be the first step towards that.
"I'm a powerful witch! I can help! My friends can also help!" Luz said.
Boscha grabbed Luz's arm and pulled her aside.
"Luz, don't just volunteer us to help a stranger!" Boscha said.
"So, you won't help?" Luz asked with big sad eyes.
Boscha had to look away. Luz had a lot of secret ways to get people to help her and the puppy dog eyes are the number one way to make someone agree. It didn't take long for Boscha to cave.
"Fine, we'll help."
Burner brought them to his workshop. The building was littered with scrap metal and old broken tools. In the middle was a large cauldron with multiple different ingredients surrounding it.
"I've been able to make the device, but getting it powered is the hard part." He said grabbing a medium sized metal, card shaped, device.
Luz grabbed it and ran her thumb over it. There were these lines that were indented on it.
"What seems to be the problem?" Luz asked.
"I might be a great metal worker, but I am not able to create the potion I need to power it. Potions never have been my specialty." Burner said.
Boscha made her way to the front of the group and shook Burner's hand.
"Hi, I'm Boscha Triplet. Daughter of Elizabeth Triplet, the current Potion Coven leader. If there is anyone that can help you, it's me."
"Well then, Ms. Triplet, if you're anything like your mother then you'll definitely do better than I."
Boscha cracked her fingers and got to work. She looked at the ingredient list and put in specific amounts of ingredients.
"While she's doing that, I need you two." He said pointing at Amelia and Willow, "To grow a Dead Wood Tree."
"Why a Dead Wood Tree?" Amelia asked.
"Only their wood can burn at the temperature needed without burning up. Very rare and hard to grow, but you two could grow one if you put your power together."
"What about me?" Luz asked.
"I've heard about you, Ms. Noceda. You've won awards from your Fire Spell. Your fire burns hotter than anyone else on the Isles." Burner said, "When they get the wood and she finishes the potion, we need to boil it. Then when it reaches 3000 degrees Fahrenheit (Around 1648 degrees Celsius) we dunk the device in the potion."
It took a while but Amelia and Willow finally came in with a pile of wood. Boscha finished the potion and the wood was placed under the cauldron. Luz carefully used a Fire Spell and burned the wood. They waited in anticipation as the potion started to bubble. It soon reached the desired temperature and Burner carefully dunked the device in the potion. After a few minutes he pulled it out and the lines were glowing a yellowish-orange.
"Amazing, the potion has managed to infuse the device with magical energy and can power the Isles for eons! Well done you four! I could never have done it without you!" Burner said.
"You're welcome. It was a pleasure to help bring a new form of energy to the Isles." Luz said, putting up the Royal Mask.
They left and went back to the Treasure Shack.
"Have to admit, this was a pretty good day." Boscha said.
"See, nothing bad happened. We did something that will help the Isles." Luz said.
Burner walked into a room and handed the device off.
"Here's your damn power card, now give me back what's rightfully mine." Burner said.
"Well done. This will be able to power my machine and my plan will soon be complete." The man said, "Now… about our deal."
The man pulls out a small wooden chest.
"You promised that you'd give me back my heart if I found a way to power your machine." Burner said angrily.
"No, I promised no harm will come to it while you built the power card. Now that you're done with it."
The man crushed the box that held Burner's heart, which also crushed the heart. Burner held his chest and started to gasp for air. His eyes started to roll back into his head and the man watched him struggle.
"Who… are… you?" Burner struggled to say.
"It doesn't matter who I am yet. But soon, all of the Isles will know my name."
Burner finally collapsed on the floor and died. The man walked over to a large machine. He inserted the card and his machine started to power up.
"Soon... soon I will end the product of that damned human the witches call Empress." He said.
If this chapter looks different, Microsoft Word decided to crash on me so I had to write this in Google Docs. This chapter was not originally going to happen, but I needed to show that the villain has a plan and Jade'sPetDragon helped with the idea. Go give them a thanks. I, uh, never told them that I was going to kill Burner so... sorry. Follow, Favorite, and Review for more.
