I'm not ashamed of it because it is something I cannot control but I am self-conscious about it. so a lot of my words are miss pelt and many, many of the sentience's are a little back to front. I can't tell you the amount of time I've gone to reread something that I have wrote but couldn't even understand what I was trying to say.

Hi… I'm sorry I haven't updated in a while. It'd been a really head few weeks for me. my nana and my dad had to both go in to the hospital on the same day. then I found out my nana is now going in to a home which is really hard for me because I spend a lot of my time looking after her while I'm not at my mum's or at my classes. Then I find out my dad has lung cancer, so now I'm staying with him so I can take care of him. and it's just been a really difficult time for me. but…. I still really wanted to get another chapter up. And if any of you read my others fanfics like Angler or my The Lost Boys one, green eyes meets yellow. The Angler one I've just starting working on again and I'm gonna try and update the Lost Boys one as soon as I can.

"I won't give him up if that's what you want form me".
"it would be best for both of you if you do". Nora said coldly.
"and what does that mean?".
"it means it will be easier for you in the long run".
"that doesn't answer my question".
The sun and had already set.
Eyeball was waiting outside on the front porch for Ada. He knew that Ada and Nora would have to talk, and through it be best if he wasn't in the way. but the chambers boy didn't want to leave her. not after her mother walking in on them like that.
So now the two women were sitting in the living room, staring at one another.
"that's because I don't care to answer".
"why?". Ada asked feeling a tear drop from her eye, and roll down her cheek. "what happened to you to make you so cold to me?".
Nora looked away from her.
"no really… tell me. tell me so that I could understand".
"your too young to understand". She replied. "besides…. Your nowhere near ready to hear what I have to tell you".
"let me decide that".
"I don't want that boy in this house". Nora sternly said. "Ada…". Her mother inhaled deeply. "please".
"why?".
"because it will save you a lot of heartbreak if you let him go now".
"what do you mean heartbreak?. What did somebody break your heart years ago?. And now you take it out on me?. I don't understand. Tell me why you don't want us to be together".
Nora lit up a cigarette. "you should leave him".
"who says I do?". that was a lie she did.
"I can see it in your eyes". She took another puff. "do this for yourself and stop seeing him".
"I ain't doing shit until you tell me something".
"you're not a hoodlum, talk….".
"like a lady". Ada snarked back.
"like somebody who wasn't raised in the back of a car". She snapped back. "Ada what do you even see in this boy?. everybody's heard about that Chambers family, he's a Chambers you now this". She flicked her smoke in to the unlit fire place. "he isn't going to go anywhere…. You can".
Though Ada knew better, she knew that Nora was trying to distract her daughter from where their talk was going. Because where ever it was going Nora had no intentions of speaking about.
But unfortunately for Ada it had worked. 'he isn't going to go anywhere'. Her mother's voice rang out in her head. there were a lot of things that made her see red….. and most recently. Anybody who spoke badly about her boyfriend was one on them. "don't talk that may about him, don't you ever talk that way about him".
"well it's true". Her mother frowned. "I know who he hangs around with. I know who his friends are. I've seen him around that Ace Marrill many, many times before. Not to mention his family. A drunk father and a thief little brother, I'll tell you right now I feel so terrible for those little girls in that house. To grow up seeing that kind of stuff. They should be taken away before it's too late".
"and what do you know about what goes on inside that house?".
"I know that that family isn't any good. I know that even if I were alright with you running around with boys I still wouldn't approve of that one. I know that that boy of yours is always, always, always running amuck and causing trouble. I know that those little girls are going to get neglected and end up raising themselves….".
"Eyeball loves those girl".
Nora looked at her.
"in fact the only reason him and I even got to talking was because he wanted me to touch his sister how to read".
Nora for a second seemed stunned. "why would he do that?".
"because he isn't what everyone thinks he is….".
"what is he then?. because all I can see is a good for enough hoodlum".
"he's smart he's a mechanic, and a good one at that. he taught me how to fix a car. And he's sweet…. When we're at school, he likes to make sure I eat something, so I don't feel hungry. And he holds my hand in the hallways". Ada touch her other hand, remembering the feeling of his hand on hers. "when I wasn't feeling well he took care of me, he stood up to his friends for me, he cares about his sister like a brother should and he loves me….".
"Ada". Nora cut her off. "that won't last…. Stop seeing that boy".
Ada didn't want to listen to this. "I can't do that… Nora".
For one split season it seemed like the older women was in pain "well then… you've made your choice".
"STOP IT!". Ada screamed, she jumped up from her seat and glared down at her mother. "stop acting like you don't care about me and just say what made you this way. tell me why I can't be happy. Tell me why you think my heart may get broken". Ada felt tears run down her face.
Nora then stood up to. "don't bring that boy back in to this house".
"or what?".
"or you can't come back either". And with that her mother turned and left the room. Not saying another word.
After a moment of Ada staring off after her and turn and sprinted to the porch.
The porch.
Eyeball was staring off in to the distance, stoned face and thinking about what he had just heard. 'she's kicking her out… and all because of me'.
He jumped up when he heard the front door slam. He turned to see Ada frantically looking around for him. "I'm right here babe".
She all but jumped in to his arms. "Eyeball".
"yeah".
"take me out of here…. now".
"Ada…. Don't you think…..".
"no I'm sick of thinking. I hate her, I don't care why she doesn't want us to be together, her reasons are of no importance to us". she said sternly.
"But Ada…".
"you heard that right?... what we were talking about?".
He nodded.
"then you know that I love you right?".
He nodded again.
"then take me the hell away from here".
Without a second thought he took a tight hold of her hand and a practically dragged her to his car.
At the bar.
The cobras were mulling around the pool table playing a game when both Eyeball and Ada walked in. the Chambers boy had his arm around her shoulder protectively.
Ace had just gotten another pool ball in when he noticed them walk up to the table. "ohh hey love birds, been screwin'". He snickered. He made a sexual gestured with the pool stick.
They both grunted in responses.
All the boys were there, including Connie. Who had been pressing Billy for information all day long. Billy had started drinking before the rest of the guys just to drown her out.
Cammie the barmaid come out from behind the bar. She used everything in her might to hide her glare at the shorter bookworm. Afraid that she'd come off as nasty in front of Eyeball.
The Chambers boy saw her out of the corner of his eye. 'ohh fuck'. He thought. 'not this, not right now, why does it have to be right now. do something, fix this before she comes over. Do something now'. he coughed in to her hand and slightly turned to Cammie. "yeah a beer and a coke". He ordered for them, not wanting her to come any closer. 'the last thing I need is for my old dame to confront my new dame'.
Cammie watched him for a moment, drawing in the attention of some of the other gang members. "hmm". She nodded and went back behind the counter.
"awkward". Vince quietly snickered to Fuzzy.
"what was that about?". Ada asked her boyfriend. She too noticed the way the barmaid had been looking at Eyeball.
"it was nothing". He whispered back.
all Ada did was shrugged it off. not caring enough to dwell on it. 'too many things have happened today for me to care'. She decided to put it out of her head.
"who's winnin' tonight?". Eyeball asked.
"who do ya think". Ace scoffed with a grin.
"where'd you two go?". Billy asked drunkenly, half leaning on Connie.
"we just hung out". The Chambers boy shrugged.
Eyeball take my shot for me while I go take a piss". Ace handed his pool stick to his right hand man and walked off.
"hey toots". Billy looked down at Connie. "go sit with Ada and keep her company will ya. let the men talk".
"let the men talk, the big masculine many men". She mocked him as she headed in Ada's direction.
"Ada this is Connie, Connie….. she isn't going to tell you about our sex life. Whatever Billy said it was a lie". Eyeball said while taking Ace's shot.
"what was that for?". Billy asked with wide eyes angry eyes.
"I ain't in the mood tonight for shit boys. Either is Ada… we've had a day".
"what happened?". Asked Charlie.
"don't matter, Vince your up".
Both girls sat down at a table close to the pool game. "really?... you won't give me anything?". Connie asked with a mysterious grin.
Ada snorted at her.
"well I guess you can't blame a girl for trying".
"no I guess you can't". Ada replied just as Cammie was serving Ada her coke. "thank you". Ada said but the barmaid responded with a grunt and stormed over to Eyeball, to pass him his beer. "does she have a problem with me?". Ada asked Billy's girl.
"that's Cammie, don't take no notice of her. she'd just jealous because of another girl moving in on her turf". Connie used quotation marks while saying turf. "don't worry about her though, she didn't just fall around with Eyeball. She's messed around with all of them, even my Billy. But that was before he was with me, so I don't care". She said in a slightly bitter tone.
"her…and…. And Eyeball had…". Ada stammered.
"ohh yeah but don't take her seriously though. That girls fooled around with half of Castle Rock".
Ada's light green eyes widen. 'well….. I can't be too surprised can I?. it wasn't like I didn't know that Eyeball wasn't a virgin. I'm more pissed off that I don't feel like I can be mad at him for it". she took a swig of her coke.
"so?". Connie grinned.
"so?". Ada said back, not knowing what to say to the other girl.
"how long have you and Eyeball been together for?".
"ohh… umm…. Really, really not that long at all". She didn't know what to do, so she took another big gulp of her drink. "what about you and Billy?".
"6 lovely wonderful months".
"where'd you meet him?". Ada was hoping that if she were to keep the brown haired girl talking then the spot light would be off of herself. or for at least a while.
"well there do I start". She dramatically moved a piece of her brown hair away from her eyes. "I was working in the ice cream parlor after school, and he just kept coming in. always ordering himself the same thing all the time. a double cone of caramel swirl and poison berry". She giggled. "sometimes he'd order something for me, even though I already worked there. Normally he'd get me to eat a blueberry or a cherry". She happily grinned.
"well that sounds….. nice". Ada really did believe it sounded nice, but having an actual conversation with another girl from her school was foreign to her. 'I'm more hoping that I really do come off sounding genuine. I don't want her to think I'm trying to come off as sarcastic or rude. Their meeting may have not been a fairy tale but who am I to judge. I mean I meet Eyeball only when he wanted to win a bet with his friends….. and here I am'.
"it really, really was, and now we've been together ever since. And was been happy ever since. Haven't we honey". She called over to the pool table were the boys were still playing.
"sure". Billy called back. looking down at the table slightly embarrassed that he'd just been called honey in front of all his gang friends.
"so…. you and Eyeball".
"yep… Eyeball and myself".
"what's that like?".
"it'sss…..". Ada lingered trying to come up with something that would suffice for the girl sitting across from her. she gazed over to her boyfriend who at that moment just so happened to look up and catch her eye. He gave her his usual grin and went back to sipping his beer. At this point Ace had returned from using the bathroom, and went back to taking his shots. But that moment their eyes meet she knew what she was going to be letting the brown haired girl. "comforting".
"comforting?". Connie asked.
"yes comforting. He makes me feel so safe". Ada softly smiled to himself. "I don't have to worry about things when I'm with him. all of that anxiety and loneliness…. None of that matters when he's around". she was more talking to herself now then to Connie.
Hours later.
Ada had stayed talking with Connie for some time. the Blond haired girl liked Billy's girlfriend. Which wasn't something Ada could say about a lot of people. But she thought that Connie was witty and funny, and she enjoyed those qualities in a person very much. But by the time it hit 11:30 Billy had taken her home.
But before the couple left, Connie told Ada that the two of them should hang out a lot more, now that Ada was a cobras girlfriend it would be important for them to get to know each other more. At first Ada thought that the brown haired girl just wanted to get some dirt on her. but in the end decided that even if that was the reason she didn't really care too much. and agreed to spend some time with her, away from the gang.
Most of the gang had gone by now.
The only ones left were Ace, Vince, Eyeball and Ada. All four of them sitting around a table as the boys drank their beers.
Charlie had passed out and Fuzzy could barely walk without stumbling over nothing. So Mudgett drove them home.
"it's getting' passed 12:00 now Eyeball". The blond leader spoke. Lighting up his smoke, he had plucked from before his ear. "shouldn't you be tucking her in by now?".
Vince snickered.
The couple's eyes flickered to each other's.
"don't think that's gonna be happenin' tonight buddy". The Chambers boy replied.
"ooohhhh".
The chambers boy throw his coaster that he wasn't using at Vince. Who was able to dodge it easily. The bigger boy laughed and gave Eyeball the finger.
"why?, no sleep over tonight?". Ace mocked with innocent eyes.
"something like that". the Chambers boy muttered.
"why ya poutin' for?". Vince said a little too loudly. The alcohol had long taken affect.
"were homeless". Ada said while resting her head Eyeball shoulder.
The two other boys chuckled, believing she was joking. But lied down when Ace noticed they couple weren't looking chipper. "whit… your shittin' me right?. What do ya mean your homeless?".
"she means her mum walked in on us and told her that she had to leave". Eyeball grumbled.
"whit she kicked her out of her own house". Vince put his beer down, and looked disbelieving at them.
Along with a stunned Ace.
Who almost nothing could surprise by now.
"where are yous gonna go?". Vince asked.
They both shrugged. "we can't go to hers, her mother ain't gonna let us in. can't go to mine, my pops on a mean streak". He flung his arm around her shoulder, and drew her closer.
"fuckin' hell". Vince shook his head. but he slowly lifted his head up and smirked. "what kind of sex were you havin' to the point her mother don't want either of you around". he laughed.
"what happened?". Ace's smooth voice finally said something.
"didn't ya just hear'em. They was havin' sex and got…..". Vince didn't get to finished his slurred of words. Without looking his way Ace continued to speak.
"I know I virgin when I see one". this time he made eye contact with Ada Bloom. "what happened?". He asked again, his voice not changing.
"like Eyeball said….. mu….. Nora came home. Walked in on us in my room. Told me that if I left him now it save myself a whole lot of heartbreak and that was that". she shrugged finishing her coke. "then she said something about how I wasn't old enough to know something…. Which she didn't tell me either, and that brings us to now".
Ace scoffed. "sounds like a women of mystery". The blond gang leader put his smoke out. "Eyeball were you guys stayin' tonight?".
He shrugged. "back of my car?". He said like he was unsure.
"fuck that you can stay at mine". He swigged his beer. "why didn't ya just ask to crash at mine in the first place buddy?".
"it didn't cross my mind to ask ya, honestly". Eyeball wasn't totally lying to his friend. he hadn't really thought to ask the blond leader if he and Ada could stay at his for a night, until he figured out what they were going to do. but the other two reason was because he knew how his friend like his privacy, and he didn't particularly want him around Ada. 'it ain't that he'd done anything. It's just I know how Ada don't really feel comfortable around him'.
"we don't want to put you out". Ada answered.
Ace scoffed. "put me out". He spat to himself, like she had said the most ridiculous thing he'd ever heard.
"wouldn't your parents mind?". she asked him.
"fuck that, I moved out the moment I got some money in my pocket". Ace looked over to Cammie and waved his empty beer bottle around. alerting her his need for another. He noticed the look on Ada's face. "what ya afraid I got a hole in the wall or somethin'?".
"umm no". 'oh god does he?'. She thought.
"believe me doll…". He took a moment to lit up another cigarette. "I don't wanna know what's goes on in your bedroom, as much as you wanna know what goes on in mine. Besides". Ace's eyes flickered to Eyeball. "if I wanted to know what you looked like under those clothes I just gotta ask him". he gestured towards his friend. "your boy here in famous for not being able to shut up".
"Ace". The Chambers boy warmed.
"calm down buddy, I ain't gonna tell any of your secrets". He chuckled.
The Chambers boy flipped him off.
"I don't even wanna know what that means". Ada ran her hands over her face.
"you don't". Vince drunkingly snickered as Cammie dropped off a few more beers. "hey baby what you doin' later". Vince all but fell out of his chair and followed Cammie back over to the bar.
"so what ya say?".
"I don't know Ace…".
The blond leader cut him off. "will ya just stay at mine and stop bitchin' already".
"fine, fine will stay at yours geez". Eyeball rolled his eyes.
"good". He took a swig of his beer.
"where abouts do you live?". Ada asked.
At this point Cammie had given Vince the no go and he had made his way back to the table. "somewheres fun". He slurred. "it's s'll party, party, party…". The bigger boy rested his head on Ace shoulder and shut his eyes.
"ohh great". Ace said dryly. He dug in to his pocket and throw his keys over to Eyeball. "take her and head to my place… get off me". he pushed Vince away from him and he landed on the bar floor with a bang. "I gotta take this stupid jackass home". He stood up and grabbed a hold of Vince arm. "get up will ya". he pulled him up and slapped in in the face, not hard but hard enough to slightly wake him up. "ya good?... good. Now get ya ass up and walk or I'm leavin' ya here". Ace grabbed Vince to the door. he turned once more to look at the couple. "put a towel down". He laughed and was out the door.
"oh my god". Ada felt her face go red, understanding what he was implying. "did he have to yell that out in a bar filled with people".
Eyeball looked around. "there's not many people in there. And the ones who are, are drunk". As he said that a man sitting at the bar fell of off his stool. "see". He chuckled.
"is he okay?". the truth was she didn't really care that much.
"yeah that's just Bill". He drank the rest of his beer and slammed in back down on the table. "come let's go". He stood up, grabbed her hand and pulled her out of her chair.
"are you sure that staying with Ace is the best idea?".
"you got a better one?".
She shrugged.
"hey it's either Ace's place or the side of the road".
At Ace's place.
"so….. this is the breaded cobras house". Ada said looking around.
"is it all you've imagined it to be?".
"less empty beer bottles and female undergarments lying around".
"ya mean chicks panties?". He frowned as he took off his jacket and flung it on to the couch.
The bookworm shuttered. "I hate that word".
"what word?". Eyeball asked innocently. "chicks?". He knew what word his girlfriend meant. He just wanted her to say it. the Chambers boy sat down on Ace's sofa and patted the spot next to him while grinning at her.
"your not tricking me in to saying it. you know exactly what word I mean". she flopped down next to him and forcefully nudged in to his shoulder. Making him laugh.
"I bet I could get you to say it". he whispered as he nuzzled his nose in her hair.
"bet you couldn't". Ada said quietly back, resting her hand on her shoulder. He eventually laid his head down on hers.
The couple say there without saying anything for a long time.
"it's gonna be okay". the Chambers boy finally said.
Ada gazed up at him.
"I'm gonna make it okay for us". He looked down at her. "it ain't gonna be easy or nothing… ain't anything easy with a Chambers". he muttered staring down at the surprisingly clean floor. or at least Ada was surprised Ace's floor was clean. For a moment the look on her boyfriend told her that he really believe he was no good.
"it's easy right now…. me and you just sitting here". she rubbed his hand. Without warning Eyeball laughed, making her jump. "what's so funny?". Ada asked.
"it's what you said". the Chambers boy tried to stop himself from laughing so he could choke out his words.
"about just now being easy?". She frowned.
"no, no not that". he coughed a few times trying to clam himself.
"what then?".
Eyeball smile at her for a moment. "you said me and you….. not you and I. I guess bein' a country bunkin' is kinda rubbin' off on ya more then I thought it was".
"I think you may be right ". Ada spoke nestling her head in to his neck. Then wrapping her arms around his waist. "are we staying on the couch tonight?".
"nah, Ace has a spear room, we'll be stayin' in there". He peered out of the window that was behind the couple. Cheeking to see if he could spy his friends car coming up the drive way. "you getting tired yet or what?".
She nodded against his neck.
"mm kay". Eyeball murmured and stood up, taking her with him. Ada let out a short yelp as he lifted her up bridle style. He walked then both up to the end of the hall and lightly kicked open the door. the Chambers boy walked over to the bed and placed her down next to it. "bathrooms that way if you gotta go".
Ada nodded and made her way there. Slightly shutting the door behind her.
After she was done the first thing she saw was Eyeball laying on his back on the bed. With only his boxers on. it wasn't that she hadn't already seen him in his underwear before. But the sight of his bare legs and upper body still made her face go hot. "here". he suddenly said. Eyeball had thrown her his shirt. "figured you wouldn't want to sleep in your clothes that you're gonna be wearing tomorrow". Then he grinned. "also figured you wouldn't want to sleep naked next to me either…. Even though I'm perfectly okay with that".
"of course you would be". She scoffed ad went back in to the bathroom. Changing in to his shirt that went from just above her kneels. Around her mid thighs. Ada feeling embarrassed all of the sudden try to pull it down as much as she could before stepping back out in to the spare bedroom. Closing the door behind her she speed walked to the bed and jumped under the covers.
"what's wrong?". Eyeball asked, trying to suppress his smirked. He knew that his girlfriend wouldn't be totally comfortable with showing him too much skin. But he just couldn't help but himself. he jokingly lifted you the blanket, only to have her swat his hand away. He laughed. "come on, it ain't like I haven't seen your legs before".
"that's was different". She replied.
"how?".
"I was wearing shorts, it was a hot day". she crossed her arms. "I'm just in my…".
"panties now?".
She seethed through her teeth . "Eyeball….. what did I say about that word?".
"what word?". He raised his eye brows.
The blond giggled. "god you can be a schmuck". She smacked his arm.
"ohh that's how you wanna play". He jumped on her and began to attack on her. kissing her neck and face while rolling from side to side, making her laugh.
"quit it… quit it". she spoke through her laughter.
"hate to break up…..". Both teenage whipped their heads in the direction of the door. only to see the cobras blond leader leaning against it. "…. Whatever this is". He finished saying once he had their attention.
ither of them had heard the front door open.
"what do ya need Ace?". Eyeball grumbled, making it clear that his interruption wasn't appreciated…. Not one bit.
"just come to see ya settled in okay?". he smirked as his eyes wondered over to Ada.
"yeah well we are, see ya tomorrow". The Chambers boy tried to dismiss him, but Ace wasn't having it.
"Eyeball…". He said in his smooth voice. "there is somethin' we gotta talk about though… so…. if you'd kindly". He stepped aside and mentioned for Eyeball to follow him in to the kitchen.
"can it wait till tomorrow". The dark headed boy said through his teeth. His all so slightly gestured his head towards the girl who was still under him.
"no…. it's about….. the others". his lips were in a tight thin line.
"the others?".
"Eyeball". He took a step int o the room. "who would I have ran in to on my way to drop of Vince?".
"ohh…. the others. I got ya". his eyes went wide when he finally understood what the other boy meant.
"who are the others….?". Ada asked.
"cobra business".
Eyeball gave Ace a look. not liking the tone he was taking with Ada.
"the others are…". the blond leader wouldn't let Eyeball finish what he was saying.
"cobra business". Ace said a little slower this time. Ada went to ask more about them but Ace cut her off with a sharp tone. "Eyeball…. Tuck her in already and meet me in the kitchen". He turned and walked away.
"geez… what's gotten in to him?". she asked her boyfriend, with a confused expression. 'when he left the bar he was practically floating'. She thought with a frown.
Eyeball hoped off of her. "nothin'..". he shrugged. "the more sober he gets the more serious he gets is all".
"who are the others…?".
"EYEBALL GET A MOVIN' WILL YA!". Ace yelled from the kitchen.
"their no one". he lent down and kissed her cheek. "just fall asleep okay". he rushed out of the room to meet Ace.
The kitchen.
"took ya long enough". Ace was leaning against the cupboards, sipping on a fresh beer. But the Chambers boy choose to ignore him. taking a set at the table.
"what did they say?. What happened?".
Ace opened the fridge and took out a beer for him. he throw it to Eyeball and sat down on the other side of the kitchen table. "we was drivin' down McKenzie road, and when we come to the lights guess who just so happened to pull up next to us".
"the spiders". The spiders were the other gang who occasion would come down to Castle Rock and try to start trouble. "so what happened".
"what happen?... what do ya think happened?. Same thing that always happenings. Words were said our mum's were brought in to it, a blade was taken out..".
"by you?".
"who else". Ace smirked to himself. "and now there's gonna be a rumble".
Eyeball exhaled loudly. "when?".
"next week".
The Chambers boy nodded. They sat in stillness for a few moments before the blond leader spoke again. "I thought you two weren't sleeping together?". He sipped his beer.
"I told ya guys, we ain't".
"didn't look like it. stay there". Ace got up from the table and disappeared up the staircase. He strolled back down a minute later and throw something at the darker headed boy.
"rubbers?". He cocked his head to the side. "Ace man look it ain't like that right now". he tossed them back.
"I don't care what it ain't right now cos your takein'em". He throw them back at him.
"Ace..".
"Eyeball I'm tellin' ya right now I ain't hangin' around with ya no mores if ya end up gettin' the clap or some shit".
"neither of us have the clap…. Or anything else for that matter". He throw them harder at the blond now boy.
"I ain't sticking around for no baby either. They cry and they smell". Ace tossed them back with the same amount of force.
"who says anything about a baby".
"no one cos your gonna take the damn rubbers". He took the cigarette out form behind his ear and lit it up.
Thy were both quite for a minute or two. This time it was Eyeball who broke the silence. "would you really leave if me and her had a baby?". he frowned.
"ohh Jesus freakin' Christ…. You're not thinkin' bout it are ya?".
"no I'm just askin' is all. if I get her knocked up would you stick around?".
Ace didn't say anything. He just stared at the table.
"what would be so wrong if me and her had a little baby?".
"Eyeball…". Ace exhaled. "I don't even know how you want me to response to that". he shook his head.
"no really…. Tell me. if me and her had a kid would it be so bad?".
"yes". Ace spoke with out missing a beat.
"why?".
"because you have no idea how to be a father. Ya don't got any money and ya don't even have a house". Ace gestured with his hand around his kitchen.
"I don't mean right now…". he looked down. "I mean like…. In the future. If we decided to have a kid would ya be there?".
"I don't know?".
"so you would?".
"what are you deaf?, I just said I didn't know".
"well a minute ago ya just said you wouldn't stick around. then ya said ya didn't know… what which one is it?".
"if I did stick around then I wanna make a few thing clear". He slammed his beer down on the table. "I ain't no baby sitter kay. don't you be expecting me to change nappy's and shit. Don't be thinkin' that I'm gonna get up in the middle of the fuckin' night to help with feedin or nothin''".
"what do ya think we're still gonna be livin' with ya?".
"at this rate yes". he continued. "don't be askin' me to help throw baby showers and birthdays party for it".
"what if we name it after you?". Eyeball grinned.
"shut up". He throw his now empty beer bottle at him.
"no really…. Little Ace Chambers".
"ya think ya so funny don't ya?".
"yes".
"you are a idiot". He shook his head. for a second his eyes panned down to the box in Eyeball hand. "Eyeball…. Take them please. You aren't…. you and her both aren't… just don't okay".
"hey cool it Ace, we ain't plannin' on havin' kids for sometime now okay. so me and you…. we're fighting about nothin'".
"but you are plannin' on havin' them with her".
"I….". the Chambers boy had to stop himself for a moment. 'oh dang am I plannin' on havin' kids with her?. cos if I have kids with her…. that's means I gotta marry her… do I want to marry her?... oh my god… I wanna marry her'.
"yeah". Eyeball said quietly.
"well son of a bitch". he knocked back the rest of his drink. "I'm goin' ta bed. If ya could put a towel down I'd appreciate it". He roughly pattered the Chambers boys shoulder as he walked away.
Leaving Eyeball there, thinking about what he had just realized.
The next morning.
Ada woke up before Eyeball did. After he had gone to speak with Ace last night she fell asleep only moment after he had left the room. 'I guess I was more tired then I thought I was'. she rolled over on to her other side to look at Eyeball. His eyes were shut and his face was slumped in to the pillow. Ada moved a strand of his hair away from the front of his eyes and slid it back behind his ear.
The blond sat up in the bed and stretched her arms out while cracking her neck. "what to so, what to do?". she asked herself quietly. Ada gaze shifted back down to a sleeping Eyeball. 'now I suppose I could wake him up…. But I really don't want to be that kind of girlfriend, ya know…. the kind that can't handle to be a minute away from her other half for two minutes without whining about it'. the some words rang in her head form the night before.
"I'm gonna make it okay for us".
She remembered his words. "for a Chambers boy…. your real sweet when you want to be". Ada told him, knowing full well he couldn't hear her in his slumber. She hoped out of the bed and tip toed in to the kitchen. She slowly peered around the corner, making sure that the cobra leader was no longer leaking in the shadows. 'I don't want to wake Eyeball…. But I really, really don't want to wake Ace. The closet I've come to being alone with the local hoodlum was when he cornered me in the school hallway. Need I say being alone with Ace is not something I'd like to experience anytime soon'. Ada peeked in to the kitchen to see nothing but an empty kitchen.
The green eyed girl stepped in to the middle of the room and looked around. she went over to the cabinets and found some mugs. Ada turned the kettle on and looked out of the window. Observing the hoodlums back yard for the first time.
Thinking but about nothing really impotent, really just trying to pass time.
'it's pretty much just how like I imagined it would be. It's big and filled up with broken down, old looking cars. This is where they go when their not at the bar or school. Well I guess it does make some sense for them to be there. I mean both Ace and Eyeball are mechanics. Along with the Mudgett boy….. is his name Mudgett?. I don't know, who care, not like I talk to him at all'. She shrugged it off. 'I could see why they'd hang out around there, spend most of their time here. there's no one around for miles, they could do whatever they wanted. Throw party, drink, fix up their cars all day. I guess for a young guy it would be a dream. The truth is that's just kind of my life already…. Ya know…. accept for the parting… and the drinking…. And the fixing up old cars. What I'm trying to say is for someone who knows what it's like to have that kind of freedom in the palm of their hand it isn't hard to see why they'd spend so much of their time here'. Ada stood there watching the outside world, enjoying the quietness of the morning when another thought crossed her mind. "maybe….. Eyeball and myself finding a place to live together wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. Yeah the towns people will talk and say we're living in sin but why should I even care?. I hate everyone and Eyeball already has a bad reputation. He'd getting abused at home and I'm living with Nora. So we both have it bad, it isn't like I'm being a spoiled brat because my mummy told me I couldn't have a pair of roller skates. Maybe if she could just tell me why me being with him annoying her so much I could reassure her that we're happy together'. she shook her head and poured herself and Eyeball a coffee each. But before returning back to the bedroom she took a slip of her and watched as the sky began to get darker. 'rain must be coming in?'. she smiled a small smile to herself. "that's always nice. Ohh….. but not as nice as this". She grinned and looked down to see two strong arms around her waist.
"some ones awake".
"Mmm Hmm".
Ada felt a nose in her hair and smiled.
"I made you a coffee".
A hand reached out and grabbed at the other cup. "Thank you"
The blond let of a yelp realizing that wasn't the voice of her boyfriend. The arms pulled away from her completely and she whipped around. only to be meet with a smirking Ace. She hadn't heard him come in.
After several long moments of glaring at him she finally said something.
"what the hell do you think your doing?". Ada hissed through her teeth.
"who's doing what?". A still half asleep Eyeball came shuffling out of the bedroom. He had heard her little yelp and figured that Ace had did something. When he didn't hear her scream and didn't hear glass shatter or something brake he assumed whatever happened wasn't too bad. But still decided to check it out.
"getting the cup of coffee you were in front of". the blond leader smirked at her. "I assumed it was for him, but I'm too tired to make one myself and figured it was easier just to steel this one".
"you're a jerk".
"yep". He popped his P and walked off back in to his bedroom.
"he's such a jerk". She rubbed her face.
"yeah well that's Ace". The Chambers boy rubbed his eyes and slowly walked over to her while basically still asleep and took her hand. "come back to bed will ya, it's the middle of the night".
"Eyeball….. it's 7:30 in the morning".
"yeah that's what I said". he took her coffee away from her and place it in the skin. Then lead her back in to the bed room.
"eyeball….".
"just a few more hours of sleep okay". he fell back in to the bed and was asleep almost as soon as his head hit the pillow.
"fine… couple more hours". She got in with him.
A couple more hours later.
Ada woke up to an empty bed, she'd rolled over an tried to reach for her other half in her sleep and only noticed he was gone when she opened her eyes. 'where's he gone now?'. she signed and got back out of the bed. She throw her jeans back on and made her way to the door, but only stopped when she heard voices on the other side of it.
And there was more than two.
"hey man sounds like a fun time to me". Ada recognized that voice as Billy's.
"yeah we all know how chicken shit stone is man, I bet ya anything we'll be there 3 minutes before they all bow out, just like the last time". Charlie's voice was next to ring through the halls of the house.
"they didn't bow out last time, the coppers showed up remember?". Ada frowned at hearing Eyeball's Voice.
'the cops showed up?... who are they talking about?, why did there need to be cop?'. Of course she already knew the answer to that. she just didn't think about what they could have been doing at the time.
"still left didn't they". Ada could hear the matter o fact tone in Charlie's voice.
"when's it all goin' down?".
'fuzzy's here to'.
"next Friday, after school, behind the bar". Ace's cool voice answered. "figure after we kick the shit out of them we could all enjoy a ice of beer". The bookworm could hear the smirk in the leaders voice.
The fellas cheered in celebration.
'okay I've had enough of this'. Ada stepped out from before the door and lent against the door frame , with her arms crossed. "who's stone?".
The cobra ganged stopped what they were doing, all head whipped in the direction of the door.
Eyeball swallowed down the hot coffee he was drinking. Flinching a little as he felt the hot liquid run down his throat. "no one". he coughed out, she gave him a pointed look. letting him know that she didn't believe him for a hot second.
"he's umm well ya see umm…. We know him from umm… well it's a funny story… OW". Charlie began to rub the back of his head as he glared at Billy. "what was that for?".
"for being a dip". He replied.
"he….". Ace had been leaning against one of his kitchen chairs. He pushed himself off of it and took a couple of steps closer to Ada. Not in a threatening way, or at least Ada didn't think so. "is someone you have no business knowing about". he smiled smugly at her. "it's cobra business".
"yeah no chicks allowed". Charlie laughed, that was until he got another punch in the arm. But this time from Eyeball.
"no chicks allowed?". She frowned at him. "who are you?... a 13 year old boy in a tree house club house?".
Feeling slightly embarrassed by her comment the lanky blond teen looked down at the floor.
"hey Ada". Eyeball got up from the table and went over to her. "can we talk in…".
"he's the leader of our rivel gang… the spiders". Ace cut him off, earning himself a death glare from the Chambers boy. "oh Eyeball she was gonna find out sooner or later". Ace turned his attention back to Ada. "they from the next town over, they come around those parts to steer up trouble some times is all".
"yeah and we always take care of'em. Ain't that right fellas". Vince said with half a grin. The bookworm could tell by his posture and dark sun glasses, that he may be regretting those last few drinks from the night before.
Her gaze turned back to Eyeball. She raised one of her eyebrows. "look it ain't no big or nothin'". He shrugged it off. "we do this sort of crap all the time…. and nothin' bad ain't ever happened before".
"what happened after the cops showed up?".
"ohh ya heard that part did ya?".
"is that what you sleep in?". Billy asked in disbelieve. Looking her up and down with a deep frown. "more covered up then I thought you would be".
"Billy". The Chambers boy barked. "not be thinkin' 'bout what she sleeps in…. ever. Ya dig me?". he hissed.
"chill Eyeball, it ain't like I was humpin' her or nothin'".
Without meaning to the picture of Billy on top of her flashed in her mind "Ew". She shuttered with a grim expression.
It didn't go unnoticed by the gang. "hey you could be a lot worse then me girly". He said as if he was hurt by her reaction.
"she already has". Snickered Mudgett at his comment, while Fuzzy snickered along side him. he high fiving him for his remark a moment later.
"shut up!". The Chambers boy through his now empty cup at them. hitting Mudgett straight in the middle of his stomach. Making him huddle over in pain.
"fuck". He grumbled.
"he's fine". Eyeball said casually, looking at his girlfriend.
"I don't care about him". she said casually back. "has anyone ever gotten hurt before?".
"well I once…".
"Charlie by anyone I mean Eyeball".
"don't ya care about the rest….".
"does it seem like I care about the rest of you?". she wasn't in the mood to act like she cared about the other cobras.
Charlie turned to the Chambers boy. "Eyeball buddy…. Controlled your women please".
"yeah feeling may begin to get hurt". Billy said rubbing Charlie's shoulder and glaring at Eyeball girlfriend.
"wait a second….. have you been here the whole time?". Vince said looking confused.
"yeah Vince me, and her are stayin' here for a while remember?". The chambers boy ran a hand through his dark locks.
"no…. when did this happen?".
Eyeball looked at him in disbelieve before snapping out of it. "Vince how much did you drink last night not to remember…".
"Enough". Ace's voice cut through the kitchen like how a blade cuts through butter. He swiftly switched his gaze back on to the shorter blond girl. "your boy will be fine, we'll take care of him".
"and he was only stabbed once and he was fine". Charlie said trying to help.
"Charlie". Eyeball turned around to face him. "why, oh why….. did you think that was gonna be helpful?".
"dude we're tryin' to make her let him go not freak her out more".
"what do you mean let me go?, I can do what I want, no one can control me". Eyeball huffed.
Ada grabbed his arm and swung him around. "what did he mean by stabbed?. When were you stabbed?, what happened?". She demanded. "and you can do what you want?... please".
"whipped". Mudgett remarked with a grin while Fuzzy made the whipping noise and gesture.
"Ada I'm gonna be fine, the blade barely grazed me. I didn't even need stitches".
'I still don't think it's a good idea". She crossed her arms.
"hey let the man do….. what's the man's gotta do".
Ada didn't make any moves towards Vince, so she opted just to give him a mean look.
"or… don't let the man do….. whatever… it's all good".
"look Ada..".
"no wait". She hushed her other half. "look… you do… what you need to do…. but you better not come back to me all bruised and bloody. Every drop of your blood I want all intact inside of you. I don't want to see one strain of your hair out of place".
"Ada, I will put your mind at ease right now….. we are all very, very adamant….. about our hair". All the gang nodded in agreement.
"Charlie…. Thank you…. but please not trying to help".
"okay, okay I'll be quiet now".
"surprised ya know the word adamant". Vince snickered.
"shut up, I know words". The lanky blond huffed at him.
"wait a minute….". Billy stood up. "let me get this straight…you're really just gonna let him….. go off to get in to a fight?... with another gang?... that too….. has weapons?".
"Apparently so". the bookworm held her hands over her face.
"that isn't right". Billy said in disbelieve.
"what does that mean?".
"there we go". The Chambers boy rolled his eyes.
"chicks….. ain't mean to do that". he sat down and shook his head. "that shit ain't right".
Eyeball turned back to his girlfriend. "you don't won't to know what he means by that". 'mainly because if he pisses her off then I definitely won't be getting any anytime soon… also it would piss her off and that just wouldn't be good… even if I wasn't trying to get sex. I mean…. Not right now'.
"believe me I wasn't". she ran her fingers through her blond hair. "are you down with them now or what?".
Eyeball looked at Ace.
The leader nodded.
"yep all done".
"good, well I'm going to take a shower then we're going to the book store".
"we were goin' go to the book place?".
"we are now. I just found out my boyfriend is about to get in to a rubble with another gang. Needless to say, I need to go to my happy place". Ada turned and disappeared in to the spare bedroom. Leaving her boyfriend and his mates in the kitchen.
"your girlfriends happy place….. is the book store?". Vince asked in disbelief. "why?".
"because she's a freaking little book worm". Ace remarked.
"yeah and back off..". Eyeball pointed at all if them. "she'd mine".
