And the day has finally come for the trip to Oscorp...but it didn't exactly go as planned.
"There are over 32,000 know species of spider in the world." The tour guide tells the class. "They're in the order Aranae, which is divided into three subgroups. The Selena Spider, family Sparassudae, has the ability to jump to catch its prey." The tour guide continues on and they see a spider do just that. "Next we have the net web spider, family Filistatidae, genus Kukulcania. Spins an intricate, funnel shaped web whos strands have a tensile strength proportionately equal to the type of high tension wire used in bridge building."
While she was talking, Flash and his friends push Peter around.
"Hey, leave him alone, guys." MJ tells him.
"Or what?" Flash dares her.
MJ just steps on his foot, causing Flash to wince backwards in pain.
"Or that'll happen." MJ smirks.
"Thanks, MJ." Peter appreciates his friend.
"And here, our scientists are working on..." The tour guide was saying just when everyone comes across the Dark Archer.
She screams, causing the Archer to take notice of them and shoots an arrow at them, causing all the kids to run off and hide from him as the guards come in running to take him down but are inefficient.
Peter and Ned hide behind the spider desk and try to stay quiet as he leaves them.
But what they missed was the spider crawling down onto them and attaching itself to Peter.
Peter returned home where everyone was waiting for him, happy that he was okay.
Oliver found Walter and brought him home just a few days ago.
"What happened there?" Oliver asks.
"That Dark Archer guy, he showed up and murdered the scientists." Peter explains to them as Thea hugs him on the couch.
Moria gets a bad feeling and heads out as Oliver tried to speak to her about everything Diggle and Felicity found.
Suddenly, Peter felt a pinch on his neck and yelps and smacks the back of his neck.
"What? What is it?" Thea asks as Peter feels something stick from his neck and is shocked to find a spider at the end of the web.
"Where did that come from?" Peter asks, but then feels light headed and takes a rest on the couch.
Peter later woke up a day later in a sweat and gets up to see...big differences.
For one thing, he might be a bit taller than he fell asleep and sees he has muscles. Removing his shirt, he is shocked to see that he has a six pack.
"What the...what?" Peter asks himself, wondering what happened while he hears a knock.
"Peter, you awake?" Thea asks.
"Yeah, I'm up." Peter says.
"Good, you gotta come downstairs." Thea says as Peter grabs some clothes and follows Thea down the stairs to see a dozen reporters in the living room.
"My name is Moria Dearden Queen, and I am the acting CEO of Queen Consolidated. And god forgive me, I have failed this city. For the past five years under the threat for my life and the lives of my family...I have been complicit in an undertaking with one horrible purpose. To destroy the Glades and everyone in it." Moria confesses to everyone, causing the entire room to gasp, including Peter and Thea who begin to get worried for their friends who live in the Glades. "But I realize now that my family's safety will mean nothing if I let this dreadful act occur. But you need to know that the architect of this nightmare...is Malcom Merlyn. Yes, and I have proof that he has killed dozens in pursuit of this madness. Adam Hunt, Frank Chen, and my husband...Robert. Please, if you reside in the Glades, you need to get out now."
Peter didn't stick around to hear the rest as he just races out of the house and runs faster than he has ever ran before. Racing through the streets that had suddenly became a war zone on their own.
People screaming, running, robbing stores, just about anything that can be done is being done.
But Peter doesn't care about all of them, his friends are in danger. He pulls out his phone and gave Ned a call, hoping he's heard the news.
"Ned, you there?!" Peter cries into his phone.
"Dude, is this true? I mean, it can't be true." Ned said and Peter could tell he was panicking.
"Yes! Ned, it's true! Get out of there!" Peter cried as he kept going through the alleyways when the first earthquake went off and the streets began to crumble as did the buildings. "Ned, you there? Ned? Ned?!"
Peter kept on running until he came across a brick wall and runs up a car, leaping off of it and tries to grab on the top of it but begins slipping and looks away just to look up and notice that his fingers are sticking to the wall.
"What?" Peter asks but doesn't worry about that now as he uses his second hand to climb up and keeps on running until he comes across MJ's place and sees it's coming down.
Everyone has started coming out when Peter notices Michelle's mother trying to get past them to find Michelle who was inside.
Peter went running around the back of the place and runs into a few people and sees the place is filling up with smoke and fire, looking around quickly he takes notice of a red ski mask he quickly placed on and began to try and climb up to MJ's place.
He climbs up to the correct floor and crawls through the window.
Making his way through the room, he walks through the fires and falling debris as he makes his way through the apartment.
"MJ?!" Peter cries out through the place as it comes apart around him.
"P...Peter?" MJ can hear MJ from across the room and follows it through the room as more debris falls around them.
"Hang on! I'm coming!" Peter promises as he crawls under the debris and finds MJ stuck under some.
"Peter, what are you doing here?" MJ asks.
"What does it look like?" Peter asks her as he gets on his knees and begins to try to raise it off of her.
"Peter...you need to leave." MJ says, knowing it's only a matter of time before the rest of the place comes crashing down.
"I'm not leaving you!" Peter promises as he begins to raise the debris and MJ is shocked to see he's doing it.
But before he could get it off of her, more debris comes crashing down and the two of them are crushed.
Peter begins to franticly pull off the ski mask and begins to become more and more closterfobic.
Looking up, Peter looks and sees MJ is unconscious under the debris.
"No...no." Peter whispers as he tries to stand back up with the debris to save his friend. "Come on...Come on, Peter!" He cries as he lifts the debris off of himself and quickly races over to MJ and quickly lifts the debris off her and carries her out of the building.
"My baby!" MJ's mother cries as Peter carries her out and lays her down. Doing a quick check, they see she just passed out from the smoke but needs to get to a hospital.
But Peter begins to look around and notices all the people giving him a dark look and notices that he's not welcome here.
Seeing MJ is okay, Peter races off to find Ned but realizes that the earthquake went off right underneath his home.
Ned didn't make it.
After everything, Peter just spent the next few days sitting at home.
You never realize just how big a home is until you just listen to the emptiness of the place.
And Peter has learned just how empty his home is with everyone gone.
His mother was arrested, Thea is gone, Oliver is gone...again.
Peter continued to sit there in silence when he hears his front door open and quickly goes to see it's only Stick.
"With a house this big, I'd assume you'd keep those locked." Stick states as he strolls around into the living room as if he's been here a dozen times.
Peter just sighs and crosses his arms. "Come to talk how I failed this city? Because the news, twitter, and just about everyone had beaten you to it."
"You want me to blame you for something that your mother was forced to do as you and your family had a gun pointed to your heads?" Stick asks.
"Everyone else has, why not?" Peter shrugs.
"You risked your life in this house to protect your friends, and both of your friends were hurt, your family is now almost nonexistent, and you're staying in an empty house held together by your own allowance. I'd say you suffered enough." Stick lists Peter's past week. "And your girlfriend's fine. Her mother came looking for you at my place. Seems nobody has seen you for a while."
"What do you want me to do, Stick? This city hates me, and I want to help, but every time I help, it's an excuse for everyone to say how I'm hiding my involvement with this conspiracy. I...I just want to help but no one will let me." Peter states as he leans against the wall and drops to the ground. "Nobody even wants to see my face."
"Then don't show your face." Stick states, getting Peter's attention. "You have gifts. I can feel something changed in you since the last we saw each other. Use these skills. Wear a mask, and help the city in the shadows."
Peter begins to think about what he's saying and knows he will do anything to help the city.
But he needs to run it by someone first.
Peter was sitting in Iron Heights and waits as his mother is brought to the other end of the glass and is happy to see him.
They both pick up the phones and just stay silent until Moria speaks first.
"How are you, my beautiful boy?" Moria asks.
"I'm getting by okay, I guess. It's been hard. But I push through. Stick want's to continue my training, wants me to be prepared in case someone wants me to suffer more."
"I'm sorry this is happening to you, Peter." Moria apologizes as Peter nods his head.
"Mom, I don't blame you. I blame Merlyn. But...I came here to talk about something else." Peter tells her.
"What's wrong?" Moria asks.
"Mom...when I went on that trip, they said those spiders were genetically enhanced. I think the spider that bit me had those properties." Peter tries explaining to her as best he can.
"What does that mean? Has something been happening?" Moria asks him.
"Mom...I have powers. I-I can climb walls, lift cars, I have a six sense that warns me of attacks." Peter lists everything he discovered with his abilities. "And I want to use these powers. I feel like there was a reason I was given these powers. I...I just don't know if I have what it takes to keep the city safe."
Moria sees he's serious and had the perfect time to tell him a story. "Did I tell you about the day you were born?"
Peter looks confused and asks her to keep going.
"When you were born, you were so small, looked like if you sneezed you'd break, but your father looked in your eyes and immediately turned to me and said, 'He is going to change this city.' You went out of your way to go and save your friends when you knew you might die."
"I couldn't save Ned." Peter reminded her.
"You cant save everyone, son." Moria tells him
"I have failed this city, Peter, but you can save it. If you have a gift, go out there to use it for the right reasons."
Peter smiles and places his hand on the glass as Moria does the same thing and Peter tears up at the thought he might never hug his mother again.
"I'm going to do it." Peter promises. "I'll keep the city safe."
