Chapter 11: Leo Fights with a Painting

The rest of dinner went by uneventfully, apart from a couple of questions from Ron.

"Uh, Nico?" In response, I turned to look at Ron.

"Why were the ghosts calling you their king? Come to think of it, why'd the goblins at Gringotts do the same thing?"

Harry and Hermione turned their heads, interested in our conversation.

"It's a long story, but let's just say I'm well known."

I hoped that that would be enough to satisfy their curiosity, but Ron raised his eyebrow, waiting for more of an answer. In hopes to avoid the question, I just turned back to talk to Will. People were already suspicious, so any cover we can keep is good. Harry and Ron looked confused, and Hermione looked exactly like Annabeth when she's thinking. Really, the resemblance was uncanny. We would have to watch out for her. I don't doubt that she'll be keeping a close eye on us as well.

After dinner ended, the prefects were told to take us to our common rooms. I watched as Percy Weasley got up and shouted "Gryffindors follow me! This way!"

We continued to walk towards our houses, and we came across a junction of staircases. Percy yelled "Careful around the stairs, they like to change!" I was puzzled, until I felt a huge lurch. The staircase shifted, and swiftly moved to match up with a different floor. I grabbed Will and rushed him off the staircase as fast as possible. The rest of the Gryffindors seemed to follow in suit.

The demigods and I were standing in front of the rest of the crowd, and I felt Hazel jump behind me. I turned around to see what was going on, when I noticed what Hazel was looking at. There were hundreds of paintings on the wall, and all of them were moving and talking. I wanted to draw my sword, but there were too many people, and not many of the kids seemed too alarmed by the portraits. Some were even talking to the pictures. I looked at Percy Weasley, who was talking with a rather large painting of a fat lady.

"Password?" She said.

Leo has made his way to the picture and said "Why would I need a password?"

Percy tried to say something, but the picture interrupted him. "You are in Gryffindor, are you not?"

"What's it to you?"

" Young man, I have the power to lock you out of Gryffindor tower!"

"Yeah? Well listen up mamacita! I can make it so you don't talk-"

"Okay! Leo chill out man! It's just a painting," said Perce, then lowly, "we've handled much worse." Leo nodded, and backed away from the painting, making the "I'm watching you gesture". The painting just rolled her eyes, as Percy Weasley let us into the common room.
