Author's Notes- I don't own Dragon Ball Super. The show and manga are created by Toei Animation and Akira T. Here's Episode Twenty Three. This one is going to show some more details of Caulifla's and Kale's past, before they met. This episode will be Kale's past, and then the next one will be Caulifla's. This is not a two parter! The Misadventures of Caulifla and Kale: Episode Twenty-Three- "Kale's Past"
Planet Sadala, Hospital (Thirteen Years Ago/ Year 767)
In the operation room, a doctor is having a difficult time delivering a special child out of a pregnant saiyan woman. This woman has light skin, black eyes, long, black hair, and is wearing a hospital gown. The husband beside her has a strong build on the upper body, has black, short hair with one bang over his head, has black eyes, and a darker skin tone than the wife. His name is Collard, while the wife's name is Leaf. The doctor says to Leaf to push harder for the baby to come out. She does push harder than ever. The baby's head comes out and the doctor says to Leaf to push one more time. She yells to the top of her lungs and the baby comes out of her womb. It cries, after the doctor puts it in his arms. After cutting the cord, washing the blood off, and wrapping the baby in a green blanket. The doctor gives it to Leaf. She smiles at her new child, who has a bit of black hair and has black eyes. It also has the same dark skin color as Collard. He say to his wife of what the gender of the baby is. Leaf was about the check, by lifting the blanket off of the baby, but the doctor stops her by saying the baby's gender.
Doctor: It's a girl.
Leaf: It's a girl. Oh! (looks at the baby girl) We have a daughter!
Collard: That's great! What will we name her?
Leaf: I don't know. I was going to call the baby "Stem" if it were a boy, but since the baby is a girl, I don't have a name.
Collard: Maybe...No...That sounds off.
Leaf: (looks at Collard) You got a name.
Collard: I do, but...I don't know if she'll like it. My friend named her pet "Kale", because of how it looks. When I see our daughter's face and hair, the name suits them.
Baby: Gehgehgehe!
Leaf: (Looks at the baby) She likes the name!
Collard: She does! Well...I am a good name giver after all!
Doctor: (Looks at Leaf and Collard) Your daughter's name is decided?
Collard: (looks at the doctor, smiling) Yes. Her name is Kale.
Doctor: "Kale Brocc?" Sounds like a nice name to have. Congratulation! You have a daughter!
Collard: (Bows down) Thank you!
Collard leaves the room, so that he can have a moment to himself. Leaf holds Kale in her arms, happy to have a child in her life. Collard is thinking of the legendary super saiyan heritage. He knows that he's the third generation of the heritage, but he also thinks of what will happen, if Kale has this gene. Will she be a threat to Sadala, or be a different problem all together. He'll figure that one later, but for now he has a child to take care of. He'll use all of his strength to protect her at all costs. He walks back to the room, so that he can take a look at Kale's pretty face. This is the start of Kale's childhood.
Planet Sadala, SDF Headquarters (Five Years Later/ Year 772)
Kale, who's five years old, goes to the headquarters with her father. Collard thinks that Kale should know of the SDF Elites. This will show her that there are many other strong people that will take care of her, if he or her mother leave the planet for good. He's still worried about her ability with the legendary super saiyan gene. She's not aggressive, only shy towards others. It's a good sign, but Collard is internally worried about what will set her off. They walk into the building and Kale is surprised of how it looks. She's liking the white design, the soldier's armor, and how the stairs are placed. Collard says to Kale to never wonder off. He knows that she likes to explore around new places. Before she could wonder off, a soldier in a yellow hazardous protection suit stops her.
?: Hold! Don't come any closer!
Kale: (Looks at the solider, shaking in fear) Ah! M-Monster!
?: This area is dangerous! Please go to another safe area and stay there!
Kale: (Runs to Collard and hides behind him) Daddy! Help me!
Collard: (Looks at Kale) Don't worry, sweetie. I'll go talk to the monster. (Smiles, before talking to the soldier) Sorry about my daughter. She likes to wonder around!
?: Wait a minute...(Takes off his helmet) You're Collard! One of the strongest male saiyans on Sadala! (Bows down) Sorry!
Collard: It's okay. What's going on around that area? (Points to the area)
Soldier: Well, sir...there has been a gas leak and we need to take care of it carefully, so every soldier has to stay away from it. Only ones that are trained to do these kinds of things can remove the gas leak. You and your daughter will go into the safe area. (Points to the safe area) They have a fun place for the little one! (Smiles)
Collard: Thank you! (Looks at Kale) Kale! We're going to another area! Come! (Walks to the safe area)
Kale: Wait Daddy! I'm coming! (Runs to Collard and enters the safe area)
Collard: (Looks around the safe area) This looks like the lounge room to me. Hum...Maybe that soldier would have told me to go to one of the lounge rooms, instead of the "safe area."
Kale: (Looks at a dark-skinned woman) Hey, Daddy! Who's that lady?
Collard: (looks at the woman) Oh! I know her from somewhere. (Walks to the woman) Hey, Marionette!
Marionette: (looks at Collard with a blank expression) …
Collard: Still the same face as ever. (Smiles)
?: Marionette? Collard just said hi to you.
Marionette: Hi! (Looks at the soldier)
?: (Looks at Collard) Hey! It's been a while since we last talked!
Collard: Hi, Renso! (Hugs Renso) How's everything going?
Renso: Everything is going fine. Me and my sister are feeling pretty much better from last week.
Collard: Good!
Kale: (Looks at Renso) (This man is different. He knows Daddy, so he must be a friend of his.)
Renso: (looks at Kale) Hi there!
Kale: (Hides behind Collard) …
Collard: Kale. This is Renso, captain of the SDF elites group. He's a close friend of mine. He has a little sister who's the same age as you. (looks at Renso) Where is she?
Renso: She's in the other lounge room, probably bored. She likes to explore, too, but I told her to stay in there, due to the gas leak.
Collard: Yeah. I know. (Looks at Kale) Kale?
Kale: (looks at Kale) Yes, Daddy?
Collard: I want you to go with Renso and meet his little sister. You'll like her and even start to talk more. Okay? (Smiles)
Kale: (Smiles) Okay, Daddy! (Walks to Renso)
Renso: Okay! I'll take her to my sister! Good luck!
Renso and Kale leave the lounge room and into another. Collard sees a phone booth, thinking of calling his wife. He also knows that Leaf can worry about him and Kale. He walks to the phone booth, dials in the numbers, and waits for her to pick up. Meanwhile, Kale and Renso are in the other lounge room that has colorful decorations. This must be the "Fun Place" that the soldier told Collard. Renso sees a girl in a pink t-shirt, purple pants, black shoes, and has black, wild, spiky hair. She seems to be drawing something, while making a bored expression. Renso walks to her, along with Kale and taps her shoulder. She turns around, seeing her brother in his usual saiyan armor. She says that she's bored and starting to feel hungry. Renso says that lunch is almost there; she just has to wait a bit longer. She grunts, before going back to her drawings. He tells Kale that the girl in the pink t-shirt is named Caulifla. She puts her on a chair facing Caulifla and tells them to have fun. He leaves the room, allowing Kale and Caulifla having their first conversation together.
Kale: (Looks at Caulifla) (This girl is weird. She looks like she can be a boy. If Daddy was here, he would say that she's a girl and not a boy.) (Looks at Caulifla's drawing) (It looks like she's drawing a person on the ground and a girl on top of the person. The person is in pain, while the girl is laughing. I don't know what she's drawing, but it seems that she likes to be creative.)
Caulifla: (looks at Kale) Hey!
Kale: (Jumps a bit) Heh!
Caulifla: What are you looking at? Do you want to draw?
Kale: N-No. I was told by your brother to talk to you, but...I'm not a social person. (Shyly looks away)
Caulifla: Oh...Sorry about that. I'm here, because my brother and his weird girlfriend are here on a special mission: "Save some of the soldiers from the gas leak and remove it at once!" He said.
Kale: Hehehehe. You really don't want to be here. Do you?
Caulifla: I don't! It's boring and I need the excitement! (looks at the door) Maybe… (Smiles, before looking at Kale)
Kale: (Makes a scared expression) Uh...Why are you smiling at me?
Caulifla: How about we know each other a bit more? We need to go to a special place first.
Kale: Did Mister Renso said to stay in the room?
Caulifla: Who cares? I need to leave this boring place and go to somewhere fun. I've heard that there's a training room across the place, but it's guarded! We can get to the room and play in there for a while, before he returns. What do you say?
Kale: I-I don't know. I don't want Daddy to get mad at me for not following his orders.
Caulifla: Come on! I'll treat you and me some lunch, when we get back.
Kale: (Looks at Caulifla, who has puppy eyes) Uh...I guess so…
Caulifla: (Makes a happy expression) Good! Let's go! (Grabs Kale's hand and runs out of the room)
Kale: Ahh! Maybe it was a bad idea for me to take! Caulifla?!
Caulifla: (look at Kale) Huh!?
Kale: Can you slow down!? Please!
Caulifla: Not right now! We need to get to that room quickly!
Kale: AAAAHHH! HELP ME, DADDY!
Kale and Caulifla leave the room and go to the training room for some more fun. Kale may have made a bad decision, but at least she had fun with Caulifla. While in the training room, she saw her fighting against some robots with ease. Kale would like to fight like Caulifla, but she doesn't have the fighting experience yet. After twenty minutes of fun in the training room, the two girls leave the room and go back to the lounge room. Once they get back, Renso is looking at them with a mad expression. Kale hides behind Caulifla, while Caulifla makes an angry expression to her big brother. They argue in front of Kale. She isn't used to having people argue in front of her, She learned that hard way, when her parents argue in front of her. She starts to shake and glow green. The room starts to shake, causing the two siblings to stop arguing. Collard walks into the room and sees Kale glow green. He calls out her name and tells her that everything is okay. Kale stops glowing green and looks at her father. She runs to him, hugging one of his legs. Collard is glad that she's fine, but isn't fine for what he just saw. "She does have the gene! I have to make sure that she controls the power, before it gets out of hand." are Collard's thoughts, before picking up Kale and telling Renso that they'll be leaving. Renso is glad that his closest friend is a father. Maybe he and Marionette would start a family of their own. He tells Caulifla that lunch is ready, but she leaves the room, after he said it. He slowly shakes his head, while walking out of the room to get to her. The meeting between Kale and Caulifla is the first step to their long friendship in the future. Three years later, Kale's parents are killed during an invasion at West city. She's the only survivor of the invasion and is found by Renso. Afterwards, Kale lives with Renso and Caulifla as their guardians. This starts Kale's journey of discovering her own person...without her parents to guide her.
Planet Sadala, Park (Three Years Later/Year 775)
In the park, Kale and Caulifla are walking around, trying to find something to play. They tried to find something fun that they could play together, but to no avail. Caulifla sees a dark alleyway and thinks of a good idea: go into the alleyway and find something that will definitely give them the fun. Kale looks at the same alleyway and shakes in fear. She says to Caulifla that the alleyway looks scary and they should look at a different area. Caulifla persuades Kale to the alleyway by saying that it might be a good place for them to have their play time. "If anything goes wrong, then I'll protect you! Okay?" are Caulifla's words to Kale. She's having some second thoughts of how she should approach to it. Should she go into the alleyway and find some fun or go to another area and not find the fun that she and Caulifla need? Kale doesn't get a few seconds to think, because Caulifla grabs her hand and starts dragging her to the dark, potentially scary alleyway.
Kale: (Try to let go, but can't) Caulifla! We can't go into that alleyway! It's dangerous looking!
Caulifla: Kale! You need to start being a brave person for once. It's the only new place that I haven't been to yet! We could probably find some new stuff to take! (Looks at Kale with a smile)
Kale: Caulifla… (Sees a light) Caulifla? There's a light by the end of the alleyway. (Points to the light)
Caulifla: Good! That's a good sign! (Runs to the light, while dragging Kale)
Kale: No! No! NO! Don't go into the light!
(Girls see a hideout after coming out of the alleyway)
Kale: What is this place? (Looks at the hideout)
Caulifla: I don't know, but it looks bad ass! Let's go inside!
Kale: NO! (Lets go of Caulifla's hand!) We don't know what or who is in that building!
Caulifla: Kale...Calm down. I was just joking. (Winks at Kale)
Kale: (Grunts) Caulifla! Be serious! We're going back home! I don't want to be in this place anymore.
Caulifla: Okay! We'll go back. I was hoping for some more fun around here. (Crosses her arms)
Kale: Thank you! (Turns around and sees a tall man with a bag) Ah!
Man: (Looks at Kale and Caulifla) What the hell are two brats doing at the hideout? Where did you two come from!?
Caulifla: Wow! A thug! I've been waiting to see a thug, so that I can kick his ass! (Puts her right fist into her left hand)
Kale: Caulifla! We can't fight this guy! He's older than us and he's a boy!
Thug: Who cares!? I'll take you in and you can become our hostages! (Tries to get Kale, but she runs away)
Kale: Ahh! (Hides behind Caulifla) Never mind! Take him down!
Caulifla: (Smiles) Heh! Great decision, Kale!
Caulifla takes care of the thug, by punching and kicking him to the ground. While she's doing that, Kale gets captured by another thug from behind her. After she's done with the thug, Caulifla sees the thug with Kale. She runs to him into the hideout. Once in the hideout, she yells out Kale's name and warns the thug to let her go. The thug comes in front of her with Kale on his right arm. He says that they're his and he has some great "usages" for them. Caulifla clenches her fist and punches the thug in the face. He feels this and punches her in the face as well. Caulifla is sent into a pile of metal boxes. Kale sees this and calls her name. Caulifla doesn't respond. She does get out of the metal box pile and charges at the thug. He pulls out a gun and shots her in the waist. She falls to the ground with blood coming out of the wound. Kale sees this, thinking that the thug killed Caulifla.
Kale: Caulifla!
Thug: Oh shut up! She's dead and that's that! You're mine now!
Kale: (glows green) You...shot Caulifla! You'll pay for THAT!
Thug: Huh? (Looks at Kale) What the hell is going on here!?
Kale: AAAAHHH! (Brightens the room for thirty seconds)
Thug: (Falls to the floor) Ugh! What just happen?! (Feels some shaking) Where are these footsteps coming from?! (looks at a huge figure)
?: YOU!...YOU'RE DEAD! (Throws a punch to the thug's face)
Thug: NO! (Gets vaporized by the punch)
Caulifla: (Slowly gets up) "Guh! What was that move? (Looks at the huge, muscular figure) What the hell?
?: (Looks at Caulifla) … (Walks to Caulifla, making the room shake)
Caulifla: (Regains balance) Whoa! Hey! (Looks at the figure's face) You look like a real freak of nature!
?: RRRRRAAAAAAGGGGGHHHH!
Caulifla: (Covers her ears) Man! That's too loud! Wait a minute! (Looks around the place) Where's Kale?
?: (Caulifla: Kale...Kale...Kale…) C-C-Cauli-fla (Shrinks down into a little girl, while falling to the ground)
Caulifla: (Looks at Kale) Kale! Are you okay!?
Kale: …
Caulifla: I should have listened to you! We should have gone to another place! How can I be so careless!? (Picks up Kale and puts her on her back) Don't worry, Kale. I'll protect you and make better decisions. We're sister in arms for a reason.
Caulifla carries an unconscious Kale back home. She's not sure who that large figure was or why it came to save her, but all that she know is that Kale is save. Kale is also fine, due to the smile on her face. She thinks that she protected Caulifla from that thug, but can't remember how. "I'll do my best to be as strong as you, Caulifla. I promise you!"Are Kale's thoughts, before Caulifla flies into the sky and the scene turns white.
Planet Sadala, SDF Headquarters (Present Day/Year 780)
Near the SDF headquarters, a ship has landed. It made a crater near the building. Cabba is the first one to see is and runs to it. When he gets into the ship, he sees it completely destroyed with loose wires hanging and big pieces of metal on the floor. Cabba sees a bright green light and rushes into the area. He does and discovers something unique. He sees Kale in her Bersereker form, holding a huge piece of metal with her arms. Cabba removes the piece from her and carry Kale out of the ship. A few minutes later, Kale is on the ground. Cabba comes back with a bucket of ice water. He splashes the water to Kale's face, causing her to wake up. She sees Cabba and the headquarters. She later on transforms back to her normal form.
Kale: (Looks at Cabba) Cabba! What happened!?
Cabba: Kale..First of all, Why are you doing on Sadala!? You were suppose to be on Goliath!
Kale: For a short answer to that question: Hit came on the planet, tried to kill me, killed my new lover, Smasher, me and Hit fight for a while, me and Smasher kiss for the first time, thus turning me back to normal, Hit tells me the details of where the figure in black's master is heading, I take Hit's ship and I traveled from Goliath to Sadala to join the battle! Does that solve your first question?
Cabba: Wait...Hit was on Goliath!?
Kale: He was brainwashed.
Cabba: Oh...Never hear that sentence before. Anywho...Secondly, Do you know where the master is going to be?
Kale: I don't know. I thought that he or she is coming to Sadala, so I came here.
Cabba: Good, because we're starting our defense plan. You can go into the headquarters and stay in there. I don't want you to get hurt by this master.
Kale: Cabba! I'm stronger than you! I should be able to fight with you.
Cabba: We don't know what he or she wants. We have to make some serious measures to keep you and Caulifla save.
Kale: Caulifla...Where is she!? I need to get to her!
Cabba: Caulifla is on a safe planet away from the fight. Please. Go into the headquarters and be safe!
Kale: No! I'm not going in there and you're not going to make m- (Gets neck chopped by Romaine) Agh! (Falls to the ground, unconscious)
Romaine: There! Cabba. (Looks at Cabba)
Cabba: Right. I'll take her to a safe place in the headquarters. We must follow the plan as instructed. (Picks up Kale)
Romaine: Okay. I'll talk to Janet and say that Kale's on the planet. You take care of the rest. (Goes into the headquarters)
Cabba picks up Kale and goes into the headquarters. He knows that Kale is much stronger than him, but he needs to follow Janet's plan. He finds Limo and tells him to place Kale in a safe area in the headquarters. He nods, while grabbing Kale and walking to the safe area. Cabba goes out of the headquarters and starts his fight against the master. He has to be brave for his planet and his friends.
