Midnight called everyone's attention. "Well that was exciting! Don't worry you can still end up in first place in the next round!" she said. The screen flashed and landed on a cavalry battle. Midnight explained that it was a four man squad. They decide on who is going to be the top as the other three carry that person. The most headbands collected by the end of the round is the winner. She showed the leader board and how many points each person is starting off with going by who finished first all the way to last. Ani felt every pair of eyes on her cause she was going to have one million points. Everyone was told to split and make teams. Ani sighed while thinking great everyone is going to try and get me. Deku came up behind Ani and said "hey you want to team up?" Ani squeaked a bit before saying "are you sure? People will focus on me and I don't want to put you in a bad position." Deku shook his head before saying "don't worry if we plan this right we will stay in first place." Ani listened to him as they planned who else they needed.
A girl carrying gadgets came up to Deku and Ani. She started speaking "Hey can I join your team?" Ani looked at the girl before asking "could you not find anyone else?" the girl smiled while saying "I could have joined any team but with you being in first place you must be smart." ani gave a nervous laugh before speaking again "I guess you can join but what is with those in your hands?" The girl smiled before saying "oh these are my babies that I made for this event." Deku and Ani stared at the equipment. The girl smacked the side of her head while saying "silly me let me introduce myself my name is Mei Hatsume." Ani and Deku introduced themselves. Deku said to Ani and Mei "Be right back." He took off running. After a while of the girls chatting Deku came back with a student. "I found our last team member." he said as a boy with a crow head came forward.
The boy introduced himself as Fumikage Tokoyami. Ani noticed he wore a black cloak. "His quirk can be very helpful plus Hatsume's equipment we have a shot." Tokoyami looked at Deku while saying "I told you my weakness to my quirk. I don't know how helpful I am going to be." Deku spoke again "I understand we won't rely on your quirk too much. Hatsume's equipment should work to compensate for it." Hatsume looked pleased before asking "who is going to ride on top of the three of us?" Deku looked at all three before saying "the person we will be carrying around is going to be Ani." Ani looked at Deku before saying "why me?" Deku looked at her and said "because your quirk is powerful for defense and some either forgot or never seen you use it." Ani looked around seeing everyone make their teams and saw Nagisa was with Uraraka and some of the other classmates of 1-A.
Midnight announced that the teams were made and their head bands with the total amount of points were given to the people that were the riders. The countdown began as everyone got ready. All Might watched in Anticipation. Midnight went on to explain not to use their quirks to maim or kill anyone. The team will be disqualified. Once the countdown reaches zero Midnight yells "begin!" People started running around snatching headbands and clashing in hopes to get a headband. Ani and her group avoided Todoroki and Bakugou. They focused on the groups that didn't belong in their class and didn't know their quirks. Ani grabbed three headbands with ease. Ani looked around thinking we should have had some of the bigger groups attack us by now. Mei said quickly "incoming!" Ani put a bubble shield around her group to have a tongue bounce off. Ani turned to see Shoji with his arms covering Tsuyu and Mineta. Deku looked in disbelief before saying "Is that even allowed should everyone be able to see your team?" A voice sounded behind Mineta and Tsuyu "they allow us to use our quirks so I think this is fair." Ani knew the voice belonged to Yaoyarozu.
After a while something came out and went off and produced a lot of smoke around Ani and her group. Hatsume said to Deku and Tokoyami to hold on as she activated her gadget that was strapped to her back. Ani and her group floated up out of the smoke as Deku used the shoes that hasume made to propel them away from Shoji and his group. They landed and quickly ran to find another small group. It was halfway through the round and Ani was tired she ran into some groups that gave her a run for her money before successfully getting their headbands. Deku looked at Ani before asking "How are you doing Ani?" She kept focused while saying "I'm ok." They stayed runningalong and ran into Todoroki on the way. Ani got ready for a battle. All Might watched thinking come on you know his quirk use it to your advantage. Ani and Todoroki traded blows. Ani dodged Todoroki's attempt at grabbing the head bands. Ani knew she was at her limit with her quirk. Deku quickly told Tokoyami to use his quirk to get one of Todoroki's headbands while Ani had his full attention.
Tokoyami tried using Dark Shadow to grab one of the head bands but Todoroki's group jumped back avoiding the attempt. Iida started talking to Todoroki "We have a chance. I didn't want to use this unless it was a last ditch effort." Todoroki told Iida to explain. Iida explained and they quickly made a plan. Ani quickly started asking Deku and Hatsume if they could float. Deku told Ani that their shoes were damaged when they landed. Hatsume reported that the glider overheated and was out of commission. All Might stared at what took place next. Iida used his quirk to propel his team at Ani's at a higher rate of speed than normal.
Ani quickly put a bubble shield up just in time. Todoroki's group got sent backwards. Ani's bubble disappeared and she was breathing heavily. Tokoyami took advantage of the team being disoriented and grabbed one of the headbands. Todoroki's team recovered and went on the offense again. Ani's team dodged narrowly missing the hits. Ani was breathing heavily and started saying "Deku we need to create distance. We can't keep dodging like this forever." Deku nodded trying to think of a way to get away from Todoroki. All Might watched seeing Ani breath so heavily. Come on you need to push past your limit Ani he thought as his fists tightened up. Midnight announced that there was five minutes left in the round. Ani saw the thing needed to win. Ani started talking "Hey Todoroki I don't think you can go that fast again." Deku looked at Ani while thinking what are you doing, Ani?! Todoroki spoke back "You want to test that theory?" Ani smiled and said "yeah cause I think you guys are at your limit." Todoroki's group got ready for another launch. Ani spoke to her team quickly and quietly "We need to run at them trust me." Deku took a big gulp and nodded.
Ani's team started running at Todoroki's team as Todoroki's team launched themselves at Ani's team. When there was a foot between the two left Ani threw up a bubble shield right as she told her team to stop. Todoroki's team hit and got sent flying backwards creating a big gap between them. Deku quickly got the team turned around and ran in the opposite direction. All Might watched pleased that Ani was able to push past her limit and create the distance they needed. After that the buzzer sounded signaling the end of the round. The leaderboard popped up and listed the final scores. Ani's team was in first, a group from class 1-B was in second, Todoroki's group was in third and Bakugou's group was in fourth.
Ani scanned the list and found Nagisa's team came in eighth place. Midnight congratulated everyone on a job well screen changed to a bracket with a list of names that are going to be facing each other. Midnight told everyone that they are going to take a break and resume when everyone is healed and re-energized. Deku helped Ani to Recovery Girl. Once there Ani told Deku to go relax a bit that she was going to be ok. Ani was looked over and gained some energy back but not all of it. Ani thanked Recovery Girl before leaving to go wait for the final round to start. As she walked back someone fell in step with her and gave her a bump in the shoulder. Ani turned to see her dad smiling at her. Ani smiled before asking "Did you see Deku?" All Might nodded before saying "Yeah he explained everything. Now it's going to be difficult because you're facing Bakugou and he is going to put you on defense." Ani looked down as they continued walking. Ani spoke again "I'm worried about Deku's match Shinso's quirk. We have no idea what it is and Ojiro dropped out along with some others because they didn't remember how they made it."All Might nodded before putting a hand on Ani's shoulder while saying "just leave Deku to me ok."
Ani nodded and a horn went off to signal that the final round was about to start. All Might hugged Ani and wished her luck before going to find Deku. Ani headed to the stands to sit with her classmates. When she got there she found Nagisa and sat next to him. Nagisa turned and smiled at her before saying "Way to go with the cavalry battle babe that was really smart thinking on your part." Ani smiled saying "Thank you. This is going to be a really interesting third round." Nagisa nodded as they turned back to watch what is going to take place.
