Chapter 11: Run! Don't Let Terror Catch You!
"Man, Vale City is pretty lively." Blond hair faunus thought as he stood up before stretching his back with his monkey tail flexing before swinging in air, "Even in morning. At least, compared to Mistral. Hmm, but again...Vale is new place."
Though he could make do without some crabby girl bent on chasing him down for reason he has no clue of. Seriously, that girl was creepily determined when they came across each other six times yesterday with two encounters started with the girl literally crashed into him. Even though he helped her get up (just to be polite and all), the girl got pissed at him and blamed him for not paying attention! But Sun didn't feel like listening and took running before the girl's team show up.
For real, Sun doesn't remember doing any wrong to tick that uptight princess who need to learn to chill out. Though the girl didn't appreciate that when Sun pointed it out in middle of chase. Seriously, man.
"Hopefully, I won't run into her again. Fun workout, though. Now what should I today?" Sun pondered his course of action, but shrugged to no one in his sight. Since he has been running, jumping, and doing parkour almost all day until evening when white girl's team showed and dragged her away, Sun didn't has opportunity to explore Vale City.
"If only I arrived DAY before yesterday, but nooo." Sun muttered before mimicking a robotic announcer's voice, "We're sorry to inform that due to bad weather, this and later trips have been canceled. Pfft." But again, bad weather would make his 'free' trip little too shaky to sleep. Oh yeah, and some supposedly big bad Grimms lurking in the sea.
Where was he, oh right. His today's plan. No, that's wrong for he doesn't do planning. Right now, he's in mood to explore the nearest area and maybe figure out how to get to Beacon's campus later.
Later…Late Afternoon…Random Alley...
"...You got to be kidding me." Sun wasn't expecting to run into that white hair girl again, considering how big Vale City and for real, it is BIG place. But come on! He has just ate double swiss cheeseburgers, sweet potato fries, and a milkshake! But not just any milkshake, but BANANA milkshake! Good stuff there.
No wait, quick! She's glaring at him like he committed a crime and what crime, he has no idea. Ok, he's dealing with an angry girl, this is call for Neptune's expertise! What would Neptune do in this situation? In Sun's mind, an image of Neptune flashed his smile, winking before suavely greeting, "Hey there. Snow...woman-" No wait, Neptune wouldn't phrase like that.
"Hey there, snow girl-" Actually, no. That's not how he would say it, think Sun's brain! Think! Got it, thanks brain!
Flashing confident grin, Sun was about to pull Neptune's trick when a white hair girl already has her pointy sword thing, pointing at him as she growled, "Do...You have...Any idea how much you insulted me?"
"Uhh...no? I mean, I did wonder about that but was too busy run-"
"YOU THREW A BANANA PEEL ON MY FACE, YOU RAPSCALLION!" White hair girl snarled with a rather murderous look.
"Oh." Is this girl for real? This was why she has been chasing him around yesterday? Apparently, his response wasn't well-taken.
"Oh? OH? Is that all you have to say?"
"Uh yeah-" Screw it, he's no Neptune. It's time for post-meal exercise, "Oh look, a banana man!"
"Like that-Get back here!"
And few hours later and currently night time, Sun found himself crouching next to a white hair girl, who's sitting on one of shipping containers and has just broke down out of nowhere, no explainable reason. At least in Sun's point of view. Despite her being a stranger albeit temperamental (and potentially crazy) one while doing decent job in parkour in her pursuit, Sun softly asked, "Hey, are you alright?"
"No, I'm not alright! Between my dysfunctional team, stressful schoolwork, my enemy, and everything! And then there's another of you!"
"Another-What? What do you mean another of me? Like another-"
"No! Your hair!"
"My hair?"
"Yes! And that insufferable grin!"
"What?"
"Intolerable attitude!"
"Huh-Hold-"
"Inexcusably poor manner!"
"Hey-"
"And don't get me started on senseless torment!" Sun watched a white hair girl pressed her face against her hands.
"Hey uhh...What's your name?"
"Weiss."
"Weiss." Sun tested her name, "That's uhh cool name-" At this, Weiss's head snapped away from her hands, "And then, there's another insufferable one who like to make dumb puns that invoke the feeling of needing to regurgitate!"
"Ok, ok! Pun's not intended!" How stating her name is cool is a pun, Sun briefly asked himself. Maybe because of her snow white hair? She does look little snowy there with her hair and outfit. A blond monkey faunus continued, "You're talking to innocent dude, not your another enemy. For real." Sun has his hands in placating manner when Weiss glared at him. She then pressed her face into hands again, making angry noises, muffled.
"Ok, forget what I said few seconds ago. Ok, so this first enemy...Is he your ex-boyfriend?" Sun yelped, landing on his bottom when Weiss's red eyes glared, growling, "No! SHE's never my b-boyfriend! SHE'S an enemy!" Though her cheeks sort look little reddish, but it might be her flushing make-up thing. Or was it blushing makeup? Why do girls-Focus, Sun. Not now.
"Ok, feel like this is beyond my league." Sun thought, "But again...I have nothing to do now." Though he wasn't expecting Weiss to bluntly tell him her school life right away. "Guess being a rich girl isn't what it cracked to be. Or at least, I think she is rich with her outfit and fancy pointy sword of her. Sure look expensive to me." Poor girl, no wonder she has white hair. Her life must be stressful to live. To his greater surprise, Weiss turned out to be a heiress to Schnee Dust Company! Whose reputation isn't exactly positive among faunus population.
Sun could tell Weiss didn't mean to disclose that part to him, since he's a faunus. But it just came out of Weiss's mouth in midst of her explanation (more as rant) about some girl named Janna. Sun could also tell that Weiss also didn't mean to tell him, a faunus, everything that's bothering her. When Sun expressed his incredulity, Weiss dryly mentioned her white hair. "Hold up, you for real? Everybody in your family have white hair?" Sun has asked. Huh, he always thought his snobby classmates at Haven Academy were joking whenever Schnee Dust Company came up (usually to complain about the price of Dust). Must be tough being in pre-school with white hair. Weiss must've thought "Screw it, I don't care" or something like that because she continued, Sun wasn't sure. But he continued to listen.
"Ok so let me get this straight-Oh, I'm Sun by the way-yeah, so your school life and team suck." Way a go, Sun. Very sophisticated. Weiss unintentionally snorted before looking away from Sun, not saying anything. Taking her silence as his cue to continue, Sun went, "Except your partner, Pyrrha. From what you just told me, you're Schnee heiress have this girl who is basically female version of me-" Sun halted when several loud crashing noises and screaming echoed from distance.
"Huh, someone-no, two people running toward us." Sun stated.
"How-?" Weiss shook her head, Sun is a faunus. Off course, he has night vision, Weiss thought with distaste. Schnee heiress mentally berated herself for forgetting Sun being faunus. Few seconds later, Weiss could spot a ginger head man in suit and a little girl resembling an ice cream running with terror. Sheer terror on their face.
Upon seeing them, a ginger head man lets out terrorized shriek before raising his cane to-
Weiss yelped when Sun pulled her backward to avoid small explosion, caused by ginger head man's weapon. Caused noticeable damage to shipping container and its inside content. As soon as Weiss got back on her feet, ginger head man and ice cream girl have already ran away.
"What was that about." Weiss heard Sun's muttering. And then, both teenagers heard howling and Sun could see dozen mask-wearing people running out of nowhere, bearing weapons and...are they bleeding? And they're all...faunus.
"White Fang?" Weiss voiced her confusion at well-known terrorist group's presence before snarling, "White Fang!"
"Wait-" Sun didn't has a chance to tell her there's something wrong with supposedly White Fang members, but Weiss has already jumped off the shipping container to engage them. Frowning at his instinct screaming him to run, Sun suppressed it before jumping off to aid Weiss against those howling faunus.
It didn't take too long for Weiss to notice something off. Something that screamed wrong about her White Fang opponents. For one, most of them have blood flowing from their mask. Two, they're still howling like mad animals speaking insane gibberish. Three, they don't seem to care that they killed their fellow terrorists which could've spell end to Weiss if it weren't for Sun kicking away a deer faunus who was about to hit her back. A deer faunus lost her mask as she got up, revealing her bleeding eyes openly displaying fear and insanity. And finally, more howling faunus showed up, being led by an intimidating man wielding a bloody chainsaw. Not caring about their fallen comrades as they charged toward two Hunters-in-training.
"Run!" Before Weiss could say anything, Sun grabbed her hand to get her running. Seeing how 'eager' the unmasked White Fang members appeared with their crazed eyes, Weiss ran. Being pursued by insane faunus-no wait. Correction, they're being pursued by faunus AND humans as dockyard workers joined in, also driven by insanity with obvious signs displayed by White Fang members. No sign of understanding of their action or rationality. Howling as few humans (and a faunus) mindlessly ran straight into the containers, slamming their body recklessly whenever teen duo took a turn around the stacked containers. Weiss could swore she heard broken bones, but those-those humans kept running! With their bleeding fingers and improvised weapons.
Later...Different location in dockyard…
"Blake! Why are we here? C'mon, we're going to miss the last Bullhead ride to the campus!" Ruby exclaimed as she and other two girls caught up with Blake.
"Relax, Rubes. I'm sure Blake has good reason for running here, but yeah, we don't want to miss our...ship to Beacon." Yang quipped, only to get bemused look from her teammates, "Ok fine, that joke sailed over your head."
Rolling her eyes, Janna spoke, "But seriously, why we're here at this empty dockyard with barely light and security at this time?"
"You know you could just catch a ride back without me, right?" Blake walked, looking for something with her teammates following her.
"Pfft! And miss this whole nighty adventure with you?" Yang snorted, "After our exciting adventure yesterday?"
"Are you looking for something or someone?" Ruby asked, curious as she checked out every single shipping container and lack of security presence. Pretty weird for her, surely whoever in charge would have some measure of security with all those nutcases roaming around, wrecking stuffs? Somewhere in Ruby's mind is telling her that the dockyard isn't exactly open to public, for anyone to casually walk in.
"..No...Yes." Blake answered, seemly taking random turns, "I...just want to check out something. To see if they'll show up." To see if White Fang will show up to steal a rumored generous amount of Dust scheduled to arrive this night. To see the reason for their reckless pursuit of this Dust-stealing business. To see if-IF her former comrades have fallen into senseless violence.
"They? They who?" Janna has curious look on her face, "Your old friends or something?"
Blake stopped to face her team before shaking her head, "No. To check out something...It's...something I want to see if it's true or not."
"Hold up," Yang waved her hand, "Are you telling me we came here for a rumor you heard?"
"What rumor are you trying to check out?" Janna tried to think of something as there's many rumors floating around on Beacon campus.
"I-"
Suddenly, a high-pitch shriek of terror echoed, causing Team RABY to jump with their weapon out.
"Wh-ahem-what was that?" Janna asked pointlessly.
"Someone must be in trouble! C'mon!" Ruby took off running toward where shrieking came from.
"Rubes-wait!" Yang called out, already running after Ruby. Janna groaned and was about to go after Ruby and Yang when she heard Blake's voice, "Something's not right."
"Blake?" Janna look at a bow wearing teammate, who shook her head before telling her, "Let's go and find our teammates." Unknown to Janna, Blake has her instinct telling-no, demanding her to run away. Her cat ears picked up faint howling sound, Blake picked up her speed. Noticing this, Janna goes, "Blake? You heard something?"
"Hurry, keep running!"
Another minute later, Janna could now picked up the sound of howling and another high-pitch shrieking and sobbing. That sound like someone in pain, Janna thought as she tried to keep her pace with Blake's. The sound of screaming and howling grew louder and louder as Blake and Janna proceed, taking couple turns to navigate through seemly maze of shipping containers. Good Dusts, why the containers organized like this?
And then, there was an explosion with rather intimidating light shooting upward to the sky-
"MOVE!" Blake dragged Janna out of way before a shipping container came down, crushing.
"Ah!" Janna yelped.
"Keep moving!"
"No need to tell me!"
Blake and Janna ran as the surrounding containers waved or fell of bottom containers as there's more than one explosion by judging the sound. Janna could make out several weapon discharging in addition to screaming. Just when Blake and Janna managed to get to the top of container mess, Ruby's fearful, piercing scream could be heard, "NOOO-AAHHHHH!" followed by a brief flash of pale silver color.
Janna heard someone's voice from distance. An unnatural voice that filled a young Arc girl with sudden coldness and fear.
"How unfortunate for me, Nephalem's arriving sooner than I expected. I will have to come back to finish up your and others... This is merely...how you filth say this? A 'see you later'...Enjoy your respite...for now. There will be more to come."
And that presence! Janna doesn't know how to describe it, there were so many words that they may not be enough! Malice! Wrongness! Unnatural! Heavy! Vileness! WRONGNESS! EVIL! Why she's feeling heavy? This pressure! And unexplainable, unnatural terror! Sheer terror! As if it's grasping her heart! Beating faster and faster and faster! Her mind! She could hear a young boy's scream echoing in her head. Her body burned as if set on fire. Stop stop stop stop! Make it stop! Please! MAKE IT STOP! Piercing scream echoed as Janna's mind screamed with her hands clutching her head, falling on her knees. With her eyes closed tightly.
And then, it stopped. Breathing and sweating, Janna gasped as she shakily pushed her into sitting position, checking herself. No sign of burn or anything, but that sensation-it felt real. IT FELT REAL! At first, feeling cold but immediately came burning! Placing her hand on where her heart at, Janna could fell her heart, beating crazy. And-and that scream-Janna wasn't sure if that was in reality or just in her mind. Feeling something rolling down her cheeks, a blond Huntress-in-training rubbed her left sleeve. Tears, she must've cried. Why that scream she heard hurt? Why did it hurt? WHY?
"I-I need to calm-to calm down." Janna's mind said. Her heart beating this fast can't be good for her and-Wait, what about Blake? Breathing heavily, Janna look around before finding Blake shivering uncontrollably and sweating. No sign of a young boy Janna heard, was it really in her mind or is he-? No, that seems unlikely-Janna, go to Blake, her mind demanded.
"Blake!" Janna stood up, tried to make her way but her legs wouldn't stop shaking. So an Arc ended up, crawling and rolling herself way toward Blake.
Upon reaching her, Janna gently grabbed Blake's hand, "Blake?" Only for Blake to suddenly screamed with her eyes wide open, "NO! STAY AWAY! STAY AWAY!" as she wildly shook her body.
"BLAKE! IT'S ME! JANNA! IT'S GONE! LOOK AT ME!" Janna tried to stop Blake from potentially hurting herself.
"NO! NO! NO!"
"BLAKE! PLEASE!" Janna wasn't sure what she was thinking, but she grabbed Blake's head for face-to-face, tapping her forehead against Blake's. She could feel Blake's rapid breathing to her face. Seeing Blake's eyes looking at her blue eyes. Softer, Janna breathed out, "It's me, Janna. It's gone. It's gone now. It's not here anymore." Whatever 'it' was.
After few seconds and seeing Blake slightly less panicking, Janna shifted herself to hug Blake as she repeated her words, "It's gone. It's gone. I'm here, I'm here." A young Arc wasn't sure if she's actually comforting Blake or just herself. One thing she does know is that whatever was, she hoped to never encounter it in face to face. Or feel its presence ever again.
Couple minutes later, Janna and Blake slowly regained their composure. At least, most of it. Less shakily from earlier, member A and B slowly stood up.
Still breathing but slower, Blake quietly spoke, "We need to...find Ruby and Yang." Like Blake, Janna hoped Ruby and Yang and whoever are still alive. With caution, member A and B proceed their way toward where they heard Ruby's highly distressed voice came from. As they moved, several containers look melted with faint smoke. And that smell of metallic and...blood?
It took Blake and Janna few more minutes before they came upon Ruby lying over Yang, both unconscious with a crimson scythe's blade stuck in blue container.
"Ruby! Yang!" Janna and Blake called out as they hopped down to the hard concrete surface before hurrying toward member R and Y. Crouching next to them, Janna checked on Ruby while Blake checked on Yang.
Janna sighed in relief as she could feel Ruby's pulse, prompting involuntary whimper from her mouth. Ruby's alive and same with Yang, by judging Blake's expression. Few seconds later, both Janna and Blake tensed when they picked up a weak voice. Female, by judging the sound. Someone else still there, still alive and need help!
"H-h-help...pl-please." a female voice called out. Her voice appeared to be around the corner of yellow container. Strangely, her voice sound familiar. A classmate, perhaps? Janna and Blake look at each other with cat faunus standing up, "I'll go, stay with them. You call for help."
"Got it." Janna made sure Ruby and Yang are lying comfortably before pulling her Scroll and was about to press the first number when she heard Blake's vomiting. Looking away from her Scroll, Janna could see Blake on her knees with her hand pressing against the container and other against her mouth.
"Wh-what is it, Blake?" Janna spoke in worried tone. Blake held her hand up, shaking head to indicate Janna to stay where she's at.
"No time...she need help and is hurt." Blake thought as she pushed herself to stand up to walk toward a familiar white hair girl, sitting with her back against gray container. It's none other than Weiss Schnee! In damaged outfit with few noticeable blackened burnt marks on pale skin. Who is currently grasping a blond hair boy as if he's her security blanket. A boy with-
"Monkey tail? Faunus." Blake shook her head, making her way-
"Pl-ple-" Weiss's voice choked up, repeating, "-ease h-h-he-help. Hel-help...pl-ple-please." A white girl's face has blackened tear streaks as her body shivered uncontrollably. She doesn't seem to notice Blake's presence as she continued to repeat, calling for help with desperation, fear, and helplessness. Completely unlike how she normally behaved: self-assured, snobby, and sophisticated. How long has Weiss been calling for help? Who-whatever was here-no, not now. Not! Now! Blake closed her eyes to focus her mind on now before opening them.
Bending her knees next to Weiss, Blake took a deep breath before preparing herself with her right hand slowly moving toward Weiss's shoulders. Her hand hesitated for a second before gently making a contact.
"Weiss-"
"NoNoNo-" Weiss's voice panicked, choking with her body shaking with her pale blue eyes displaying
"Weiss! It's me, Blake!"
"-Bl-Blake?" Weiss's voice wavered with fear and uncertain.
"Yes," Blake softly replied, slowly nodding with her hands up in non-hostile manner, "It's me. From Beacon. Your classmate. Here to help. We're here to help." Weiss didn't say anything as her eyes gazed at Blake.
Her cat ears twitched under bow, picking up Janna's voice, "-ssor Goodwitch? Jaune?"
Blake could hear Professor Goodwitch asking Janna, "Where's Blake?"
"She's around that corner."
"I'll get her and other." Instructor Arc stated firmly and sure enough, he showed up with a flail in his hand. His harsh blue eyes softened a bit upon spotting Blake, Weiss, and unknown monkey faunus. As a blond man walked toward three teenagers, Blake could tell he has guard up with his eyes scanning everywhere. The man's eyes briefly hardened as he look at what it appeared to be footprint. Something that Blake just noticed.
Before a cat faunus could look at it more, Instructor Arc's movement pulled her eyes away from the footprint to see him couching before Weiss, saying few words, "Rest, Weiss Schnee. You are safe now."
"Diablo will not hurt you." Jaune thought, ignoring Blake's questioning look. Not paying attention that he just whispered Diablo's name, caught by Blake's acute hearing.
And Weiss closed her eyes, leaving Blake look at her face. Felt something familiar about this scene as if she has deja vu. A memory flashed in her mind of her first encounter with Jaune Arc and Qrow. Jaune spoke similar phrase with his eyes glow-No, did his eyes glo-
"Jaune-" Professor Goodwitch appeared with her voice halted upon the sight with her eyes widened. To her credit, she did not vomit but was understandably shocked. Not far from three teenagers and her co-worker is a horrific scene. Nightmare. A number of people, both faunus and humans. Who will not be getting up at anytime in future. For they are no more.
Later...Headmaster's office…
Thck!
Jaune has just slammed his hands against Ozpin's desk as he coldly spoke with harsh stare, "He is not to be underestimated. You know it, Ozpin. You met his 'sister' before. I know you still have that memory of the factory."
Ozpin closed his eyes at Jaune's word, pushing memory of that-that thing out of his mind, "You do not need to remind me." Opening eyes, Ozpin quietly ended with, "Jaune."
Jaune stood up straighter, removing his hands away from the desk with his eyes glowing with rage.
"Jaune." Ozpin repeated stoically and Crusader's eyes resumed normal, but still harsh.
"...Leave it to Qrow." Jaune began, "That's what you told me to and we have yet to hear anything worthy from Qrow. I do not know what they're planning to do in Vale City, but it is coming. Don't know when, but it is coming. Here, in Vale City. Do you not feel that from your magic?"
Ozpin didn't say anything as he removed his glasses to rub his eyes. He felt it. In his gut with magic giving him a grim feeling.
"Ozpin." Jaune's voice grabbed an immortal's attention, "Qrow will not find anything. We need to find them and stop them. We-"
"With what, Jaune. You told me yourself. They're immortals, all of them." said an immortal wizard, putting his glasses back on, "Remember? Death is merely temporary."
"Exactly!" Jaune harshly spoke, "And did you not said you have the solution?"
"...It's not a solution, Jaune." Ozpin calmly corrected, "It is not certain, but-"
"But what?"
"One of my colleagues is scheduled to arrive tomorrow."
"And does your...colleague has anything to do with the solution you were thinking of?"
"You may-"
"Yes or no." A tense silence filled the room as two men stared at each other.
"It's not certain he'll agree to my solution, Jaune."
"And why is that, Ozpin?"
"He doesn't belie-"
"Whether he believe it or not matter not!" Jaune rudely interrupted, breaking away staring contest to move toward one of the windows in Ozpin's office. Glaring at Vale City in distance.
"...The council will be demanding an answer, seeing our students were involved." Ozpin broke silence, staring at a holographic display. Already, few articles of news have been written and published.
"...They can demand all they want." Jaune responded, sneering at his memory of how Vale Council fools reacted two years ago. "It does not matter. They're fools."
"They're still humans."
"Humans who are fools."
"Still have no faith in them." Ozpin could see Jaune's reflection on window looking at him, "Only your faith." Jaune's eyes resumed staring at Vale City without saying anything.
"I should be out there, tracking them down. Not Qrow."
"Jaune, it is not guaranteed your solution will work. You even mentioned your doubt."
"It would still be worth trying."
"I supposed, but this Diablo-"
Blond Crusader's head snapped away from the window with stone-cold expression, "Diablo will die, Ozpin. Along with his disgusting kins." It was spoken as a statement. Not disagreeing, Ozpin decided to change the topic, "How are the children?" since Jaune and Glynda bought six teenagers to infirmary and Jaune later left infirmary for a meeting with Ozpin.
"They're fine." Jaune gave a short answer.
"But they're not."
"No, they're not fine but they will live." Jaune bluntly agreed with his eyes briefly softened before resuming cold, silent rage, but Ozpin caught it.
"It's difficult, is it not." Ozpin spoke rhetorically, "Being in different world for two years while preventing-"
"That would be foolish of me to do so, Ozpin. You are aware of this, I have no desire of staying once my Cru-." Jaune spoke in rough, neutral tone while knowing what Ozpin was going to say.
"They're still humans. Different, but still humans. Just as I am. Just as you-"
The door opened and both men look to see Glynda walking in with neutral expression. Before a blond woman could say anything, Jaune walked away from the window, stating, "I'm returning to infirmary and then, I'll be patrolling."
"Do tell them they're excused for a week." Ozpin nodded a farewell at Jaune who briefly paused before exiting of the office without saying anything. They will finish this meeting later. Ozpin has a feeling Jaune will do something to help those huntresses-in-training and a blond stranger. More likely to offer his ears and perhaps, some words.
Somewhere in Vale City…In one of abandoned buildings...
"You should've not done that, Diablo." said the Lord of Hatred in visual projection, addressing sickly yellow eyes woman who merely sneered, "I was simply...indulging myself in their fear, Mephisto."
"Do not speak to me that way, Diablo." Mephisto harshly hissed with his eyes glowing with Hatred, "You are not to do ANYTHING! And yet, you went off to reduce the filth-"
"WE will still have enough. More will come for their silly-"
"SILENT YOUR TONGUE, DIABLO!" Mephisto snarled, causing the 'Lady of Terror' to snarl back. Both Sins glared at each other, snarling in guttural noise, openly displaying their teeth. Few seconds later, Mephisto continued, "Do NOT make me remind you, Diablo. Lest you'll go through it again." His voice contained a warning and a promise of torturous pain.
"That will not happen again, Mephisto. You and Baal." Diablo hissed dangerously. No, Diablo will not allows Mephisto and Baal 'punish' her again. For next time they try, she will be prepared for fight. Both Hatred and Destruction were fortunate that Terror was weakened from involuntarily freeing them and four lessor 'siblings', losing power in process. Seeing a challenging look from Diablo, Mephisto merely sneered, "Do not do anything that'll delay our time, Diablo. WE need every single one of them. Every. Single. One. Of. Them!"
Diablo glared harder when Mephisto's projection disappeared out of her sight. She clenched her hands, feeling her nails digging into her borrowed flesh, bleeding before opening them up with fire. Feeling a woman's magic flowing, Diablo roared as she flung fire spell at the dull gray wall, blasting a hole with scorch mark. All this waiting is, to be blunt, bothersome. And boring.
Diablo never thought she would experienced what those filth-those humans-called 'boredom'. Even when she was a he, wearing a filthy skin under name of Dialon, Spirit of Determination and later, body of her wretched daughter whose name Diablo didn't bother to learn. Her spawn was still a filth whose purpose to serve as a temporary vessel before emerging self out as the Prime Evil to invade High Heaven.
Was it result of possessing a human of different world and magic? Humans including those with animal parts as noticed by Diablo felt odd. Abominations of different sort, but still as sinful as those in Sanctuary. Or simply because of crossing the boundary between two different worlds? No, either of two would be unlikely. For she has consumed the body's soul during possession. There's no reason for Diablo feel something as if she's human. But still, that wretch tasted bitter, Diablo thought with her sickly yellow eyes gleaming as she walked through the hole.
As bitter as her worthless spawn's soul.
Author: This chapter took place in what it would be Black and White episode in RWBY canon world. Except few noticeable changes with Weiss and Sun first (of RWBY's important characters, White Fang doesn't count, not important enough) to reach dockyard, Roman and Neo, and Penny's absence being major differences. To summarize this chapter, Weiss's stress has been building up while Sun just happened to be there, lending his ears and poof! Wild nutcases showed up and poof! Diablo showed up! Poof! Team RABY showed up and poof! Diablo met Ruby and Yang! Poof! Diablo's gone and Crusader came, but late.
Would like to point it out that I'm not planning to pair Weiss and Sun. But feel free to think it that way if you like that pairing. Mind you, I'm neutral to that pairing though do feel free to tell me if I mess up with Sun's and Weiss's characters.
