A/N: I know you all noticed that the period of my SD fic is in current. I tried to be close to the anime/manga as much as possible but I want this more relatable hehehe. Still unborn during the 80s.

Thank you very much to your birthday greetings, reviews and follows. I gained new followers and favorites.

For your questions:

"I know he is meant for Sendoh not for me.": I gave up on him because of Sendoh. Nyahahaha.

"Was Rukawa already asleep when Sendoh kissed his forehead?": I believe yes. That's how a sleepy head he is. Hahahaha. Poor Akira.

"btw, i'm also curious on who is sendoh's female friend?": Find out in this chappie.

"i'm guessing that the practice match will not only be between shohoku and ryonan but shoyo as well just like on the anime.": Waaaa. I hope you won't get mad on me after reading this.

"Did sendoh carry rukawa, in bridal style, to his room?": They are big boys though and almost the same height. But he is slim so maybe Sendoh can carry him that way. Hahaha

"You big dolt! How could you!": Ahahaha. I laughed when I read your comment. Sorry about that. But that is not my ideal confession. Hahaha.

--Something is wrong with the ffnet app. Ugh!

Tonight would be the first time Rukawa would setup his Flat Screen TV to subscribe in an entertainment app. All because his second-time-overnight-er won his bed yet again. And he demanded to watch a movie. The intruder always has his way to convice his Nana indirectly. This time he succeeded by mentioning tomorrow's match between Ryonan and Shohoku. Since it will be held in the morning, Nana asked him to stay for the night. And the guy seems to have anticipated his victory for he packed the right set of clothes.

Sendoh went out of the bathroom, wearing his comfy clothes with a still damped hair. He took his turn in the shower after Rukawa's.

"What movie?" Rukawa asked.

"Ah. War genre please." he answered and sat on the edge of the bed. The television is located at the base of the comfortable bed.

Rukawa continuously tapped on the button, searching for the best one, watching trailers and reading synopsis. "This one?" He stopped at one particular choice with a title 'Extraction.'

Sendoh, still drying his damp hair with a towel, said "Seems promising."

"Okay."

"But before you play that," Rukawa heard him say, turning his head to the speaker. "I have something to show you." he said, tapping the empty side of the bed, implying to the other to sit beside him. The rookie complied.

Sendoh grabbed his phone on the bedside and unlocked it. The foxy eyes suddenly widens. "Are you insane?" he blurted with his cold glares on the other.

"Why?"

"Don't pretend you didn't know!"

Sendoh started laughing. The reaction is expected. Their photo from the Sakura Festival is set as his home-screen wallpaper.

"Remove that."

"My phone. My decision."

Rukawa reached for his phone but Sendoh lifted the device further away while his other hand cupped the whole face of the growling kitsune, pushing it away. "Give that you stupid..." he tried to speak while the enormous hand covers his face.

"Let it go." he continued laughing. "No one is allowed to touch my phone anyway."

Rukawa calmed himself as the hand slowly drifted away from his face. "Have you calm down?" he asked. Squinting is his only response. "I assure you, no one can touch my phone. Even my mother."

"If someone sees that, I'm gonna kill you."

"You have threatened my life plenty of times. But here I am, still alive!!!" he mocked with his grinning face. Rukawa simply rolled his eyes.

"Anyway, let's focus on the actual topic I wanted to discuss."

"I'll break that phone." he continued mumbling.

"Shhh. Let's focus." Sendoh ignored his scowls and opened up his gallery. "I know it's your project but I really wanted to involve myself so I did some research on how to build Nana's Gazebo." He showed him his gallery. "Here. Select one."

Rukawa let out a sigh before looking through the gallery on the phone. His hand was about to reach for it so he can view properly but Sendoh moved it away. "Promise me first, you won't change my home screen or break my phone."

"Tch. I'll try not to." he said. Sendoh squinched up his eyes, wanting to make sure. "Fine. I won't" he promised.

The owner handed him his phone. As promised, Rukawa just simply scrolled through the list of Gazebo photos, finding the one that could capture his eyes. "This one. I like this one." he said, stopping on a particular photo. A wooden type classic rotunda design.

"Me too. I like this one."

Rukawa felt Sendoh's gaze on him instead of the photo. His eyebrow arched, confused on his stares.

"... the Gazebo." he beamed. "I like the Gazebo."

The foxy eyes suspiciously looks at him which the other ignored. Instead, the silly face leaned in closer to take a peek on the selected photo. Their closeness flushed Rukawa's cheeks. But for all he knows, he is doing this on double purpose, to take a look at the photo and tease him. "You're too close Sendoh." he said.

"I'm just looking at the photo." he reasoned out, but the face leaned more. Rukawa slammed the phone on his forehead. "Moron."

Sendoh sniggered as he took his phone back. "It's a great choice. Thought you'll pick the victorian one."

"A simple one is enough."

"Good. Though harder for beginner like us." he grinned. "I also did some research on the materials and equipment. I hope you don't mind involving myself on this."

"I don't mind." his reply. "But we can't until the tournament is over." It is not advisable to start their project before Inter-high as it might lead to injuries.

"You can't. But I can." he corrected. "And don't worry, I'll do all the manly works. You will take charge of the painting and final touches."

Rukawa stared at him. "Why are you so up for this?"

"For Nana of course." he continued. "Actually, when I started watching tutorials and basics on building this gazebo, I got keen and motivated. I don't know." He stretches his legs and crossed them, leaning back with his arms supporting him. "It feels like, building premises is kinda enjoying and interesting."

"You want to become an engineer?" Rukawa asked. Sendoh simply shrugged. "I'll build you a house if it ever happens." He gave him a wink.

"Tch. It would suck."

"Have some confidence on me fox. I'll prove it to you with this Gazebo."

"Whatever."

Sendoh ruffled the hair of the other before crawling to the bed. "Okay time to watch."

Rukawa stood and reached for the remote besides the flat screen. He clicked on the play button then marched to the mattress on the floor. Sendoh pulled his wrist and forced him to sit beside him. "What now Sendoh?" he growled.

"Watch here beside me."

"Tch. I can watch on my bed." But honestly, he might fall asleep as soon as he lay down. Movies are not part of his few interests. He was about to get up but Sendoh clinged on his arm. "Please Rukawa-kun." he pleaded like a kid.

"You're such a child." he uttered, annoyance in his voice.

Sendoh pleaded him more with his puffy eyes.

Rukawa just sighed. Again. Once the guy insisted on something, no one can stop him. So he surrendered to his will and stayed on the bed. "I hate you."

"I will never hate you."

"Now let my arm go you idiot." But Sendoh nudged the side of his head on his upper arm, still clinging. "Our first movie date."

"You look stupid."

"Doesn't matter." he gleed. "By the way, did you made me slices of lemons for tomorrow?" Lemons are his favorites. He usually sips on it during time-outs.

Rukawa nodded.

He clinged more. "My sweet sweet waifu."

The raven-haired sighed and just focused his attention on the movie, stretching his legs on top of the bed, and resting his back on the headboard.

His phone rang. The free arm took the device from the bed side. A new message pops on the screen. Upon reading it, he felt Sendoh released his arm, saying "You're cheating on me."

Rukawa was surprised by his words. "What?"

Sendoh sterned at him. "You're texting other people while I'm next to you. You're cheating on me."

Confusion is on the rookie's eyes. "What are you saying?!"

The spiky-head crosses his arms to his chest, narrowing his eyes more.

Rukawa is still trying to understand the situation but decided to reveal the other person on the line. "This is my sister you big idiot."

"Oh really?" Sendoh's face brightens. "Okay. I forgive you."

"I am not apologizing and why texting other people means cheating on you? Or my family in particular." he asked, irked in his tone.

Sendoh just laughed. "Just playing..." He rested his back on the headboard. "... and practicing."

"Practicing for what?"

He shrugged in response.

Rukawa just squinted when no response was heard. Finally his other arm is free so he can type his reply properly.

"What does she want?"

Rukawa gave him a scowl.

"Kidding. Just checking if that's really your sister." He's back on the cheating topic, with a suspicious look. Rukawa slammed a pillow directly to his face. "Annoying dog!"

Sendoh let out a laugh before turning his full attention on the movie while the other boy continued messaging his sister.

When Rukawa is done, he returned his phone back to the bedside but a sudden weight on his lap startled him. A pillow and a head on top of it. His temper is starting to heat up. "What are you up to now?" he muttered, calming his almost growling voice.

"Watching."

"Don't start with me Sendoh. I swear, I'll hurl something on your head."

"I find this more comfortable."

He was about to gave out another protest but his phone rang again. This time, the message is not from his sister but from the newest contact on his list. "Hey. Hanagata here. Still interested on our Mochi lesson? I heard you have a game with Ryonan tomorrow. So are you free on Sunday morning?"

Rukawa mulled for a second. Sunday practice was cancelled and he wanted to get the perfect recipe as soon as possible so he could make another to please Sendoh. So he replied "Okay."

A new message was returned. "Great. Looking forward seeing you again. I'll send you the address. Have a good night Rukawa."

He locked his phone and placed it back to the side table. Attention is on the screen again, almost 15 minutes of the movie has missed due to interruptions. Uninterested at first, but the fighting and action scenes are remarkable. Then he remembered the intruder on his lap. "Why are you still on my lap?"

Sendoh sighed. "Shhh, I'm watching. Stop interrupting."

Rukawa smacked his head. "Get away."

Unfortunately for him, Sendoh didn't move nor winced from the pain. Another sign of defeat, so he just focused his eyes again on the TV. The guy is known to be persistent so arguing more will only prolong the night and missing important scenes from the movie. Besides, nothing is harmed anyway.

"Rukawa." he called while head is facing the television.

Rukawa didn't respond, eyes set on the action scenes.

"Who is more handsome? Chris Hemsworth or me?" An out of this world question was asked. Rukawa rubbed his forehead, starting to irk again. "Can't you keep quiet the entire movie? I'll staple your lips."

Sendoh chuckled on the threat. "Just answer me. Chris Hemsworth or me?"

"Who the hell is that?"

He bursted out a laugh at the innocent question. "Where in the world do you live in Rukawa?"

"Tch."

"That guy in the movie you are watching now is Chris Hemsworth." Sendoh shook the pale knee. "Come on. Look at him. Answer me now."

Rukawa examined the protagonist. Clear as the blue sky who the winner is. "Ugh. Don't disappoint yourself Sendog."

Sendoh cackled.

Only a few minutes have passed when his name was called again. "Rukawa."

"Just watch Sendoh." irritation on his voice.

"My mom used to massage my head so I could relax." he stated, which Rukawa realized the implication. He clenched his teeth, closing his eyes to control the rising temper. "And what do you mean by that?"

"Please."

"Isn't watching TV relaxing?" He is beginning to like the movie and the other guy keeps on interrupting him.

"It's not enough."

"Just shut up. Or I'll silence you with a pillow for life."

Sendoh let out a loud laugh on the evilish threat.

A few seconds of silence was given when the usual chatter breaks it by calling his name again.

"Rukawa."

He sighed. Where can he find his peace with this Chris Hemsworth? "What now?"

"If someone tries to get in between us, I'll fight for my place. Remember that."

A sudden change on his tone surprises Rukawa. He was expecting a tease or a dumb question but he is in his serious tone. "What do you mean?"

But Sendoh remained silent.

Rukawa moved a little forward to peek at Sendoh's face. Blank stares on the screen, no foolish expression and silently watching. But it feels as if his mind is wandering somewhere, troubling his thoughts. He wanted to ask but he has this feeling that it is not wise to do so. So he reached for his hair and started massaging and caresssing gently. Fingers are running in between strands.

Sendoh was a bit surprise for a moment but finds his lips curving slightly. Feeling the care through the warm hand running over his hair.

Little snores were heard after some time. Rukawa peeked and Sendoh was already asleep.

He turned off the television, not interested to know the ending anymore. Slowly moving the head and the pillow from his lap to its rightful place, fixing him gently on the bed, pulling the comforter to warm his body from the coldness of the room.

Rukawa watches the sleeping man. He looked peaceful. His fingers reached for his hair and ran through its strands. A smile escaped his lips before crawling down to his own bed.

"Sendoh."

The sleeping form only groaned.

"Sendoh wake up!"

He snuggled more inside the comforter "Let me sleep more..."

A pillow was hurled on his head. He quickly sat up "What?"

The dumb face of Rukawa greeted him. "We're late." he said, pointing at the wall clock. It's already 10:08 am. The game is scheduled at 10 in the morning.

Both boys started rushing everything.

Nana could hear their feet stomping back and forth with their loud banters passing through the room's open door. She can't help but be amused, chuckling in every exchange of words.

"You and your stupid alarm Sendoh." said by Rukawa.

"Why only me? You woke up late too!"

"Pay for my subscription! You slept at the movie!"

"Will you focus on hurrying up than other things?"

"Why are you taking so long with that hair!"

"I can't go out without this."

"Sendoh hurry up!"

Their feet are making big noises in every step, rushing down the stairs. Nana is standing at the end, waiting, with two bags of food. "Breakfast my dears." she said. Rukawa quickly planted a peck on her forehead, taking his breakfast, and dashed out. The other one kissed her hand and took his. "Thank you my dearest, Nana."

"Sendoh!!!" Rukawa yelled from the door.

"Oh? Rukawa yelled? Something new, right Nana?" he joked while the lady chortled in demure. "That means you need to go Sendoh-kun."

He grinned at the lady. "Right. Have a good day Nana." then he sprint out of the house.

"Good luck darlings!" Nana shouted before the door finally closed.

Sendoh noticed Rukawa is preparing his bike as soon as he was out of the house. "No. Don't use your bike."

"Why? This is faster. You can hop on my back." Rukawa lifted a leg to hop on his ride but Sendoh pushed it down. "Let's run. Morning exercise. Loser takes the punishment.

"You idiot. We don't have time for that." he gnarled but Sendoh started jogging in place. "Let's go. Chop. Chop." then he hastened out of the gate, leaving a still hesistant rookie at first but decided to follow him, leaving his bike alone. "Cheater! You could at least give a signal."

Sendoh cackled at the young one's competitiveness. "Stop complaining and just run, loser."

"If captain smack my head, I'll double it on you."

He laughed.

A practice match on a weekend is the most perfect day of all. No audience. No annoying cheerleading squads of the super rookie. No one but only the players, coaches and managers.

For the past thirty minutes, players can only do warm ups as both of their aces are still missing.

Veins are starting to form on Akagi's forehead, patiently tapping his foot on the ground, arms crossed to his chest. "Where is that Rukawa?" he gnarled in between his teeth.

"Odd." Kogure said. "Rukawa had never been late before."

Sakuragi started pouncing Coach Anzai's chin. "Old man! Why do we need to wait for that kitsune? You only need me. Let's start the game." Akagi hurled a fist on his head to halt him.

"Unfortunately Sakuragi, the ace of the other team is missing too." the coach said. "And they too don't want to start without their own captain."

"Damn you kitsune! Where the hell are you?" he shouted.

On the other side of the court, Coach Taoka is losing his patience yet again at his team's very own captain. "Koshino!" he yelled at the vice, who cringes when his name was called. "Where is Sendoh?!!! He's your responsibility!!!"

Koshino could only cry. 'Why me?' It's really hard to be a vice when you got a lousy captain like Sendoh Akira. 'Damn you Akira!'

A sound of a slamming door and a beam of the outside morning light caught everyone's attention. "Winner!!!" They heard the familiar jolly tone of the blue team's captain. Sendoh crouched himself to catch his breath.

"There he is." Fukuda exclaimed.

"Spiky! What the hell? Why are you late?" Sakuragi yelled.

Sendoh, in between his pants, pointed his thumb to his right. "Ask him Sakuragi."

To everyone's surprise, a certain raven-haired boy revealed himself shortly after Sendoh's appearance. Heaving and panting as he rests his back on the door frame.

"Ru--Rukawa?"

Silence filled the area, surprised by the sight that both of the aces, the ultimate rivals as they are known, came to the gym together and at the same time.

"Ca--captain? And Rukawa? Together?" Hikoichi couldn't believe what he is seeing. Fukuda just shrugged his shoulder, not giving a thing. Koshino tapped his forehead. 'Akira. You are way too obvious...' he thought.

Akagi squinched up his eyes at Kogure while the other just scratched his head, couldn't think of a better response to the unspoken implication of his captain.

Ayako, who knows much more than anyone, was chuckling on the side. Haruko, the next in line manager, wonders too.

"That is not something you see everyday." Miyagi smirked while Mitsui stretches himself as the game is about to start, not bothered by the unexpected circumstances of the morning.

Sendoh stood and flicked Rukawa's forehead. "Loser."

Rukawa snapped his hand. "Cheater."

"Crybaby." he threw another tease then walked passed him, heading to his own team.

Sendoh receives the morning nag from his coach while Rukawa earned a bumped on his head by Akagi's knuckles. He bowed to Coach Anzai to apologize, but was laughed off only by the coach.

"You ugly Kitsune!!!" Sakuragi approached him, anger on his eyes. "Who do you think you are? You let us wait for thirty minutes? And why are you with that spiky head? Are you guys living together?"

Rukawa whirled his towel to the side, intentionally slapping Sakuragi's face. "Oops sorry."

"Ack! You mothefuc--" Akagi gave the red head another blow on his head then faced their super rookie. "Rukawa, you got no time to warm-up and dressed yourself in here."

He nodded in his stoic expression and placed his bag on the ground, at the back of their bench. As he opened, his red jersey wasn't the first thing to welcome him. And no! It wasn't there. He opened his gym bag widely, searching deep down in every corner but no luck. There was never a time he missed packing the only important uniform of his life. Unless...

He inhaled a deep breath before slowly shifting his sterning cold gaze to the other side of the court. And there is the anticipated sly grin, already wearing his own basketball jersey, pointing his finger down to his bag.

Rukawa formed a fist, mouthing, 'Asshole.' He must have stolen the jersey while he's busy with the early morning panic.

Sendoh motioned a finger, taunting the rookie to come and get his jersey by himself.

"Rukawa! Hurry up!!!" he heard Akagi growling behind.

As he was left with no choice, and the pressure from his captain's tone, he stood up from the ground and succumb to the humiliation he's about to do. So he took a deep breath, swallowed his pride, and started marching towards the opponent's bench.

"Rukawa! Where are you going?" Kogure called out but was ignored.

Both team were astound when Rukawa halted in front of Sendoh, glaring intently at him. The culprit took the red jersey from his own gym bag and handed it to its owner. "Here you go. Seems you've misplaced this."

The whole gym was filled with silence for a moment. Unsure how to react at the jawdropping scene. Rukawa Kaede's jersey is inside Sendoh Akira's bag! Minds are going crazy. Blushing women. Some are stunned. Others concluded a deeper meaning, particularly Akagi, Kogure and Koshino. While the others took this chance to tease the aces yet again.

Miyagi started, "The SenRu is now a married couple!!!" whistling and hooting right after.

The three stooges sang the wedding hymn.

"Hey Sendoh? How's the married life?" Mitsui taunted, as the spiky head replied with an OK sign. Rukawa hurled the red jersey several times on the spiky head. "MORON!!!" then walks back to their own bench.

"Seems the wife is unhappy with the marriage, Sendoh." Sakuragi adds in.

Both teams were entertained. Though Ryonan team can only laugh inside in respect for their captain but unfortunately for the Ru of the SenRu couple, he has to suffer the teasing from his group.

The inexplainable interaction of the two aces were easily forgotten when the referee, Kakuta of Shohoku, whistled to start the game.

Each starting players lined up at the middle of the court. Sendoh, who stood acrossed the super rookie, playfully pouted his lips briefly, giving him a distant kiss. Rukawa's cheeks are highlighted in pink for a while but twitched his upper lip in annoyance. "Doaho"

Kakuta was about to whistle to start the game but Sendoh halted him. "Wait ref." Attention are all onto him. He took a step forward to Rukawa and encircled a white sweat headband around his head with a 'Sendoh Akira's No. 1 fan.' printed in front. A gift from a fan. "A crown for the loser of the bet." he teased.

"NYAHAHAHA. You lost again Kitsune? Such a wimp." Sakuragi added.

"Ooooh. Sendoh's number one rival turns to number one fan." Miyagi jeered. Mitsui joins in. "Hey Rukawa, let's hear your cheer!" The three wild boys of Shohoku lined up together chanting. "L-O-V-E A-KI-RA.", mimicking his own fan chants, repeating it over and over.

Both teams are laughing including the coaches. Akagi just sighed, couldn't believe a captain, such as Sendoh, is delaying a game.

Rukawa was in beet red of shame, scowling at the man in front, cursing him in his head. A payback will definitely happen. And he'll make sure of it.

"Okay ref. We can proceed." Sendoh signaled the referee to finally start the game.

Both centers positioned themselves in the middle of the court while the others are preparing to catch the ball.

"Sendog. I want another bet." Rukawa mumbled to his usual guard in every game. "First to get 10 points."

Sendoh smirked, the young one can never really accept defeat without payback. "Sure. By all means. But you can't remove your headband. It suits you well by the way."

"Tch. I'll burn this after."

A whistle signaled the start of the game. The centers jumped as high as they can to tap the flying ball. Akagi succeeded, directing to Rukawa. But his body froze when an enormous hand slids down from his upper back down to his waist. "What the--?" His attention was lost so the ball was easily caught by the man guarding him.

Rukawa was stunned. His eyes followed the culprit driving to the other side of the court, performing an easy lay-up. 'Did he just--' He was still in shock. Is he losing himself again with his touch? But they had one-on-one match and it never quivers him.

Sendoh ran back to him, snapping his fingers to woke Rukawa's senses who is still in shock. "Wake up darling. Still sleepy? Don't bore me with your play."

The foxy eyes squinched up. "Did you just slide your hand on my back?"

"Oh? Every player does that. Why are you pissed about it?"

"You pervert." he mumbled in between his teeth.

"Nah. Basketball is a physical game remember?"

"That's a perversive touch!" he insisted.

"Says who?" he smirked. "Or maybe because this one is true." he tapped the forehead with the No. 1 fan sign.

"Tch. Like hell." he squinted. "I'll have my payback soon, dog."

"Stop blabbering and just do it fox."

Miyagi is driving the ball, calculating the start of their play. Rukawa blocked Sendoh by his whole form, waving at the point guard, asking for the ball. His focus was lost again when the same culprit blew on his ears, sending shivers all over him. The approaching ball was nabbed by the blue team's captain, earning an easy jump shot to the other side.

"What's the matter with Rukawa? He lost two possession in a row." Kogure asked. The other bench players are wondering too.

Rukawa clenched his fist. The guy is harassing him on his weakest points.

Ball on him again, dribbling and setting up the pace. The guard is smirking at him.

"Tch. I hate your silly face."

"I'm pretty sure that's a lie." he said with confidence.

He drives the ball, charging his body to Sendoh, trying to get out from his defense. But a hand slids on his side down to his waistline. The caress heated his cheeks up, quivering his whole form. The dribbling decreases its pace which gives Sendoh an opportunity to grab the ball and passed it to Fukuda.

Rukawa sends him his coldest glares while Sendoh responded with a wink and a clack of his tongue.

"Rukawa keep your focus on the game or I'll substitute you with Kogure!" Akagi yelled. He nodded, but still pissed.

Another possession was passed to the super rookie. His glaring eyes on Sendoh. "Don't touch me."

"This is basketball Rukawa. Have you forgotten?"

"Tch." He dribbles the ball while the other slightly bends for defense. He took a step closer. "Okay. You know you mean a lot to me so your wish is my command." He sends the freshman a smirk. "I'll just use words instead."

Rukawa is baffled by his statement. The man on defense started moving closer, leaning and whispered "You're so beautiful my Kaede."

His eyes widened. The hand froze its dribbling, losing the ball as it rolls outside the line. He tried to run for it but it was too late. His cheeks in deep red, with his chest throbbing in full speed after hearing his given name uttered in a soft voice.

Sendoh gave him a smirk. "No touching right?" he mocked, before running to his team.

"Oi Kitsune! Are you shaving points for your boyfriend?" Sakuragi growled from a distance. Miyagi approached him and asked. "Hey Rukawa? Are you alright?"

Rukawa was silent for a moment, listening to the pounding of his chest. He knew. Sendoh knew he weakens from his touch because of this crushing thing or whatever this is called. And he's using it to get onto his game. But this isn't right! Basketball must be played fair! Nobody should mess with his game! And him losing focus because of his perversive antics is pissing him off. This has got to stop!

So he ignored the point guard and marched to the other side of the court. Glaring eyes never left the back of the number 7 white jersey who is currently in discussion with their point guard and shooting guard. The two was alarmed by his threatening stares. Sendoh's head slightly tilted when his team's attention are not on him.

A foot in full strength landed on his back, forcing his feet to move forward until he reaches the wall. Only one person is expected of this. The side of his head was nudged in every word spoken by the suspect. "STOP. MESSING. MY. GAME. SENDOG!!!"

Even though his head is being banged to the wall, he couldn't stop laughing himself off. "What are you saying? I'm not doing anything."

If Sendoh isn't laughing, everyone would think they are on a physical fight. But knowing Sendoh's gentle personality, it's far from a brawl.

"What the hell are those two doing?" Mitsui asked. Miyagi shrugged his shoulder while Akagi just shook his head.

Another kick was felt on his behind. "Don't act innocent you stupid dog!"

"Okay! Okay!" Sendoh tried to speak despite his uncontrollable laugh. "I promise I'll play fair this time."

Rukawa nudged his head for the last time. "Promise me now!"

He raised an arm, swearing his words "I promise! I promise!"

"Rukawa is scary. Coach aren't we going to stop them?" Hikoichi asked Coach Taoka. Coach Taoka just smirked, for finally, someone has the audacity to rule over the slothful ace of his team.

On the other hand, Coach Anzai, instead of stopping the commotion as it interrupts the game, was actually amused by Rukawa's interaction on other people.

The crabby freshman freed the spiky head. "Score on the bet will reset." he exclaimed before heading back to his team's side of the court.

Sendoh is still on his grin while rubbing his pained side of his head.

"Are you alright Akira?" Koshino asked.

"Don't mind me Koshino. I'm used to this." he said, beaming at him.

"But what did you do to him? He is really pissed."

"Just checking the progress of my work." he said while fixing his jersey inside his shorts.

Koshino's eyebrow arched. "What work?"

The captain flicked his forehead "Tch. Nosy."

"Stop calling me nosy!!!"

The game has resumed after the commotion of the two aces. Sendoh kept his word and played a fair game. This time, Rukawa have won the bet before the second half has ended.

After the fifteen-minute halftime break, each team started to warm up. Two minutes before the game starts, a certain raven-haired approached the Ryonan team.

"Ru-Rukawa?" Uekusa was surprised with the unexpected visit.

"What is Rukawa-kun doing there?" Haruko pointed at the Ryonan's side.

The captain turned around, greeting the super rookie with his wide grin. "Yes? What can I do for-"

He was cut off when Rukawa clutched on his jersey, and started pulling him out of the gym.

The whole area was in awe again.

"Those two are acting weird." Miyagi stated while rubbing his nose. Akagi just tapped his forehead.

Rukawa leads Sendoh to the sink, just outside the gym. "Bent down." he commanded and placed a bottle of shampoo to the side.

"Ugh Rukawa. Please be gentle. It's my first time." he joked. Rukawa hurled the bottle to his head. "What are you mumbling about?!!!"

Sendoh chuckled in response.

Inside the gym, everyone is hearing disturbing words from the two players outside. Most are blushing and feeling awkward.

"Rukawa! Please don't."

"Stop moving."

"Ah slowly. It hurts."

"Silence!"

"Be gentle."

"Stop moaning you idiot!"

The noise from the outside has stopped and both aces came back with a towel on Sendoh's head.

Rukawa snorted before going back to his team.

The taller one took out a deep breath before removing the towel from his head, revealing an unstyled hair.

Sakuragi and Koshino were the first one to laugh.

"Hey Spiky. Didn't know you look like Maki? A fair and taller version of the old man. NYAHAHAHA"

Koshino adds in, time to reciprocate his teases. "You looked like a Dad, Akira."

"He looks matured." Fukuda mumbled. Coach Taoka, for the first time, got the chance to laugh at Sendoh. A payback from his lazy ass.

"Well, to be honest, he still got looks." Ayako said which Haruko agreed. Miyagi and Sakuragi almost cried.

Sendoh sighed. He never got out without styling his hair. The kitsune got him this time. 'Do I really look like Maki?' he thought.

The second half of the game has began.

"I know why you did this." Sendoh muttered to Rukawa who is handling the ball. "You find me more attractive in this look." he winked.

Rukawa rolled his eyes before taking an easy jump shot right in front of him. "In your face, dog."

A sly grin escaped Sendoh. Seems the rookie is challenging him for a one-on-one match. "Aaah. You want it that way huh? You got it princess."

Ryonan's turn. Sendoh is dashing in great speed, driving the ball. Rukawa is on his defensive position waiting for his arrival. But before his attempt to block his way, Sendoh spins around, passing his defense swiftly. He tried to catch up but he lost his balance and stumbled to the ground. As he looked up, Sendoh had already won a shot. A mocking grin on his face, mouthing "Weak."

"Arrogant fool." he mumbled.

Rukawa responded with a commendable dunk while Sendoh and the center tried to block him but failed to do so. He wiped the sweat off his forehead and flicked his hand directly on Sendoh's face.

"Lucky shot." Sendoh derided.

"Chicken."

Time for Sendoh's attack. Sprinting to the other side, driving the ball with the pale guard waiting for him under the ring. He jumped, aiming for a dunk. Rukawa tried to block it but was unsuccessful. The rookie landed first then Sendoh followed after, acting as if he lost his balance. His feet moved forward, forcing Rukawa to move back until he reaches the wall. Sendoh's hands trapped him inside. "Oops sorry."

"Get off."

Sendoh pouted his lips briefly again towards Rukawa. His cheeks reddened but quickly pushed the intruder's chin upward. "I said get off me you pervert."

Sendoh releases him and ran back to the court, snigering.

Out of nowhere, Coach Anzai let out his santa claus laugh, baffling Kogure and the other bench players. Ayako joins in her coach's laugh.

Two-minute timeout was called by the white team. As usual, Sendoh is missing on their team's huddle "Rukawa." he called, running towards the opponent's bench. "My lemon."

A kitsune scowl welcomed him. "It's in your breakfast bag."

"If it's there, I won't be here." he replied sarcastically.

Rukawa rolled his eyes before he opened his own breakfast bag. The clear container with the slices of lemon he prepared last night is inside. Nana must have switched it. He sighed, taking it out and handed to the spiky head.

Sendoh took it with his sweetest smile. "Thank you."

"Aaaw. What a sweet couple." The usual tormenters said altogether.

"Now go away." Rukawa shooed Sendoh, trying to prevent the teasing to go further.

"Got a grumpy wife right there Sendoh." Mitsui chaffed.

Sendoh abruptly pulled Rukawa's waist to him. "But beautiful right?"

The wife was stunned, but before his face could turn red he quickly freed himself from his arm and pushed his face away. "Get lost freaking dog!"

"Kidding. Kidding." Sendoh said in between his chuckles.

The wild boys began humming the wedding hymn while Coach Anzai let out another laugh.

"Sendoh! What are you doing there?!!!" Coach Taoka gnarled from the other side of the court. He bids his goodbye with a slice of lemon on his mouth.

"I didn't know Sendoh and Rukawa-kun are that close?" Haruko whispered which the current manager heard.

"Rukawa, did Sendoh slept at your place?" Ayako's nosy question was asked as soon as Rukawa is settled on the bench. Rukawa doesn't feel like explaining himself but answered away. "He's Nana's guest every Friday."

"Nana? Who's Nana?" Sakuragi asked.

"His Grandma, Sakuragi." Kogure answered the question himself. "But what's on Friday Rukawa?"

Rukawa is feeling a bit uneasy as all attention are on him and the questions are trespassing his cloistered life. But to silence them, he still answered. "Practice match with Sendoh."

No one could noticed the smirk forming under their Coach's moustache. Proud that Rukawa is taking huge step on his advice.

"Practice match? You cheater! You're using Sendoh to get ahead of this Tensai." The red-head growled.

"Doaho."

Kogure turned to Akagi. "I hope that answers your question?" Though the captain is partially convinced.

"I'm glad Rukawa-kun has a friend." Haruko whispered.

"You have no idea Haruko-chan." Ayako added which wonders the young manager.

The game ended with Shohoku claiming the victory with an 8-point lead. The Ryonan's center has totally improved but far from Akagi's skill. They were able to catch up with Sendoh and Fukuda earning points for their team.

Coach Anzai gratified Coach Taoka for allowing the practice match to happen. Allowing him to see the result of their trainings in preparation for the upcoming tournament. The team got stronger which Coach Taoka admitted to himself. This boosted Coach Anzai's confidence to win or even advanced on the National Tournament.

Both captains shook their hands as well, thankful for a good game.

The Ryonan team is starting to leave while the Shohoku team is heading back inside the gym.

"Hey Ruk." Sendoh called before Rukawa heads inside. "Can I visit again tomorrow?"

"Why?"

"I want to measure the Gazebo."

"Afternoon."

Sendoh's eyebrows met. "Why not morning?"

"I have an appointment." he explained.

Sendoh narrowed his eyes. "You're cheating on me again."

"Will you cut that out?" Rukawa growled. Sendoh simply grinned back. "You're cute."

"Akira! We need to go." Koshino called from a distant. Rukawa realized the nagger is calling Sendoh by his given name. He heard it before but he never gives attention to it.

"Hold up Koshino."

"Why aren't you calling the nagger by his first name?" A part of him felt curious. It's unlikely of him to pry on other people's life but this question in his mind was blurted out before he could even think.

"Oh you want to know?" Sendoh then called Koshino by his name. "Hiroaki, wait for me."

The nagger growled in anger. "Effin Asshole!"

"He hates his name."

"How long have you been friends?"

Sendoh mulled. "2 or 3 years? I don't know. First friend when I transferred to Ryonan."

Rukawa remained silent.

"Anyway, I have to go now. See you tomorrow." He blew a kiss towards Rukawa.

"Knock it off!!!"

He chuckled and waved goodbye, approaching his team. The raven-haired watches his retreating form. Questions are filling his mind.

Rukawa is now standing in front of a fancy restaurant. He fished out his phone to double check the address given but it is definitely the right place. Before he could even ring the doorbell, the sliding door opens, startling him as Hanagata appears. "Good morning Rukawa. I'm so glad you came."

The rookie didn't respond.

"Uhmm. You wanna go in?"

"This is not a mochi store." he said, feeling like he was fooled.

Hanagata smiled. "Our business is not just selling mochi Rukawa. Why don't you go in first so I could explain?"

Rukawa, hesistant at first, but complied to his request, walking inside with the four-eyed fella. He roamed his eyes around. The restaurant is actually big inside, japanese styled but modernized.

"Do you find our restaurant nice?" he heard him asked.

"It is." his short reply.

"Awesome. My great grandfather started this restaurant and it was running for fifty years already. I was told I would succeed this but I'm still unsure of it."

Rukawa didn't feel like listening but somehow it amazes him. The business is running for 50 years. That is truly remarkable.

"Anyway, follow me." Hanagata lead him to a huge kitchen with upgraded equipments. He was in awe. His enthusiasm elevates, wondering how busy this area could be during business hours.

"Main kitchen. Busiest area of all." Hanagata handed out a booklet. "In case you want to know, here's the list of our dishes." The menu is mostly japanese cuisines but there's one section for foreigners.

The four-eyed smiled, fascinated by his innocence while he reads their menu. "Come Rukawa. I'll show you what you came here for."

A small area with big freezers. Cakes and other mouthwatering desserts are displayed inside. "Dessert section." said by his companion.

It's not a typical Rukawa Kaede to think about other stuff except for the thing he only needed. Like in this case, he should only be focusing on the Mochi lesson. But a lot of questions are forming on his mind. How many crews? How is this maintained? How does it feel like to run a restaurant? How many dishes are cooked in a day?

Hanagata interrupted him when he brought out a tray of ingredients. "I've prepared this last night. So shall we start?"

Rukawa nodded and placed his bag on a clean counter. The coach of the day gave him a black apron but the guest declines it. "I brought my own." He wore his very own apron with a fox character.

"Cute." Hanagata complimented but Rukawa ignored him and silently walked towards his side so the lesson could start immediately.

Rukawa listens to every word his temporary coach says, following all his instructions step by step. The four-eyed teaches him three kinds of mochi-Daifuku, the one he made for Sendoh; Sakura mochi; and Ice cream filled which is the easiest. But his focused is more on making the anko filling as it is where he failed to impress Sendoh.

His eagerness to learn, aiming in perfecting the dessert, amazes Hanagata. His innocence in the dessert making process fascinates him. The way he asked questions with limited words is adorable. Like teaching an innocent child. A caring Rukawa is what he sees based on how he carefully followed the mixtures of ingredients, kneading the mochi, making the anko filling. This discovery is not something he expects from the Ice Prince as he is known. Actually, it was unforeseen for them to get close like this, but he is enjoying this moment. Now he is feeling hopeful. Hoping to see more of his undiscovered side. More so, he really finds him beautiful even without the maid costume.

Rukawa cuts the mochi in circles using a cookie cutter as instructed.

"Taste the anko first Rukawa." Hanagata scooped the anko from the bowl and moved the spoon forward to Rukawa. His hands are all covered with flour so he accepted the gesture and chomps in on the spoon. Hanagata's lips curled to the side. "How was it?"

Rukawa nodded. "Same with the mochi you are selling."

"Good. You are a fast learner, in and out of the court. Hoping you remembered everything? You know I cannot write it down for you as much as I want to."

"It's fine. I can remember." Then he continued on cutting the mochi. He started filling it all with the sweet red-bean paste.

For those three hours of producing the dessert, he had made five boxes all by himself with Hanagata only instructing him. It felt satisfyingly good and confidence is overflowing inside. Now, he couldn't wait for Sendoh to taste them.

A group of people enters the kitchen. Everyone greeted Hanagata. "Hey Tohru. You got company." By their appearance, it seems they are the service crews.

"Aye. Rukawa, everyone." he introduced him to the crew. Everyone greeted him as he nod at them slightly.

"You are making mochi?" one crew asked.

Rukawa nodded.

"Well. You got a good teacher. Boss Tohru is an expert."

Hanagata scratches his head in embarassment. "Ah don't say that and stop calling me boss. Rukawa might expect more of me."

For some reason, he felt like he wanted to stay for a while to watch them do their work, cooking, chopping, plating. He wants to witness how this kitchen gets busy. But this thought changes when his phone rings with a message from the usual sender. "Where are you? I'm already here at your place. What time will you get back?"

"Hanagata-san," he interrupted. "I have to go."

"Are you not going to stay for lunch? I'll have our best sellers prepared for you."

"No. I have to go."

"Oh okay." he felt disappointed somehow. "Saijou." he called the manager. "You take care of the opening, I'll be back as soon as possible."

Hanagata and Rukawa left the kitchen.

As soon as they are out, Rukawa immediately handed him bills. "Payment for the troubles."

The four-eyed was a bit surprised. "Ah no need Rukawa. We're friends right?"

He didn't answer as his mind is wondering on why people aren't accepting his payments? Sendoh back on the beach and now Hanagata.

"But I hope we can still keep in touch?" For his second attempt, he offered a hand. Rukawa stared at it for a second before accepting. Only because he helped him today. Hanagata's face turns in glee. "Thank you Rukawa."

"Another thing, you seem to be an aspiring chef so I would like to invite you on this upcoming event. Excellent and famous japanese chefs in the country will be serving their signature dishes. Also, there would be imported goods from around the globe. Only few are invited and my parents are one of them. But they couldn't make it so they asked me to attend on their behalf. And I'm hoping you can come with me?"

Rukawa mulled. Signature dishes from famous chefs? Maybe this event could give him an idea on what dish he'll make for Sendoh. He is having a hard time searching and looking for the perfect dish to cook for him, something he deserves as he requested. So perhaps, one from the signature dishes might help him. "When is this?"

"Wednesday night. Great timing before you flee to Hiroshima." he said, pertaining to the tournament. "Though, you have to wear formal attire."

"It's fine. I have one."

"So that's a yes?"

Rukawa nodded.

"Oh great." he noticed Hanagata's face in pure joy and he finds it weird.

His phone rang again but didn't bother to open the message, knowing who the sender is. "Hanagata-san, I have to go."

"Rukawa, Tohru is fine. Mouthful family name." he said. "And it seems you are in a hurry so let me take you home."

"No need. I can manage."

"Car is faster than train Rukawa."

Rukawa flinched. "You have a car?"

"Yes and a license too."

Good riddance. He needs to get home as soon as possible so he agreed with the offer.

"Great." His face brightens more. 'Really weird guy.' Rukawa thought.

Nana noticed a car suddenly parked outside their gate. "Oh. Is that Hanagata-kun?"

The name irked Sendoh's ear. He quickly stood and followed Nana to the main door. Sendoh saw Hanagata opened up the car door for Rukawa whose hands are occuppied by boxes. The sight pained his eyes and struck his heart. So the morning appointment is with Hanagata. He walked passed Nana to open the gate.

Hanagata noticed the same company from the Sakura festival. "Ah Sendoh, you're here too?" He wanted to follow his question with 'Again?' but thought it would sound inappropriate.

"Hanagata-san." he greeted with a slight curve on his lips. His smiling eyes turned to Rukawa who is now standing beside him. "Welcome home."

The youngest just nodded at him.

The four-eyed waved at Nana when she noticed her standing at the door. The lady waved back.

Rukawa turned to him and blankly says, "Thank you for today and for the ride."

"Anytime Rukawa. I'll see you soon." he smiled.

The raven-haired bobbed his head and walked inside, leaving the two alone.

"You seem to be close to the Rukawas, Sendoh." Hanagata blurted when Rukawa was out of the scene.

"Aye." his short reply.

"Ultimate rivals turned to friends? Ain't that cool."

Sendoh smiled a bit. "Yeah. Everything has changed."

"Noticed." Silence surrounds them for a while when Hanagata speaks "Rukawa is beautiful, isn't he?"

Sendoh's usual accommodating face turns blank.

"He's interesting. His personality is mysterious but I saw a caring Rukawa a while ago. I'm very keen to know mor--"

"Anything more I can help you with?" Sendoh cuts him off. Hanagata felt an unwelcome tone so he just smiled. "No. I'm going."

"Drive safe then." he said, and was about to head inside but called out the four-eyed again. "And Hanagata-san..." His intent stares on the other guy. "Don't call him beautiful." He bowed his head lightly and completely walked inside, leaving the four-eyed alone.

Hanagata's lips twitched to its corner, realizing the meaning behind his words. "Seems I'm not the only one huh?"

As Rukawa went inside the kitchen, he noticed a dozen of fresh red flowers on top of the table. His lips curled lightly, warmth by the only person he knows who would give these beauties to his Nana. He placed the boxes of Mochi on the counter and walked towards the table, running his fingers around the flowers, searching for a blue one. To his disappointment, no blue rose was found. He frowned and just walked back to the counter and placed the mochis inside the fridge.

After a fulfilling lunch, Sendoh went directly to the garden, crouching down to his equipments. He pretended everything's okay during lunch for he doesn't want to trouble Rukawa again with his mixed of emotions. Anxiety. Jealousy. Fear. Insecurity.

'Why are they together again? Damn it.' he thought, his hand grasping on the wooden pencil. And a car ride? Who can top that? He is hating every second of the moment he witnessed a while ago. An eye sore. And how did the stranger concluded that Rukawa is a caring person? What happened between them? What did Rukawa showed him? And he even told Rukawa, 'I'll see you soon.' What does that mean? Will they see each other again? But the main question is, why did Rukawa allowed to meet him again?

A lot is on his mind right now that he can't continue on the main reason why he is there, measuring the gazebo to build.

A hand startled his thoughts, squeezing his face and pouting his lips, forcing his head to look at the owner's direction, who is crouching beside him. "I've been calling you for three times already." Sendoh was stunned, couldn't believe Rukawa is touching him.

"Are you in daze again?" he asked irritably.

"Ah, no." he said, trying to speak with his pouting lips.

He freed him then completely sat on the grass, crossing his legs, facing Sendoh's side. "Where you at?" he asked, referring to their project. Sendoh did the same but stretches his legs with his arm supporting behind him. "Ah. Measurements only." he tapped a finger on his notes.

"Okay."

Sendoh took all the courage to ask about Rukawa's activity. "So. What did you do this morning?"

Rukawa looked at him for a while before answering. "Making mochi."

"With Hanagata-san?"

He nodded. "He taught me how to."

"Oh okay. Where did he coached you?" he asked, praying for a better place than what he is thinking right now.

"Family's restaurant."

Somehow he felt relieved. "Ah cool. He seems rich. A car and most likely he will inherit their business."

"He is."

"Really? Good for him." Insecurities over the man are overflowing inside. "So how was your lesson?"

"It's fine."

"Come on. Give me more."

The raven-haired paused for a while, trying to think of something he can share to him. "They have huge kitchen. Upgraded equipments. And a lot of crews."

Sendoh poked a cheek. "I knew you are an aspiring chef. Your enthusiasm on that area is evident in your face."

Rukawa just shrugged his shoulders.

"Did he harassed you? I'm gonna break those glasses if he did."

His foxy eyes narrowed at the disturbing question. "You're the only pervert I know around me."

Sendoh laughs on it.

Silence in a while when Sendoh suddenly asked a question. "Why you didn't tell me?"

Rukawa looked up to him, confused by the question.

"That you are meeting him today. I thought I told you he has a crush on you."

He stared at him for a second. Crush? But he never felt Hanagata being nervous around him. And there's not even a hint of blush on his face the entire time they're together. So his intuition is probably untrue. Even so, it never really matter. "You're mistaken. And I still don't care."

Sendoh's lips formed a curve. Rukawa is truly innocent on this part. On the positive side, he seems not bothered by it.

"So why you didn't tell me?"

"It's no big deal."

He frowned. "Right." Rukawa is not someone who explains his actions or anything that is going around him, even to his closest friend such as him. That part kinda hurts as he wanted to be involve in every details of his life. Not just the important ones. But he can't force his intentions. Like ask him to let him know if he and Hanagata are going to meet again. It would be too demanding and Rukawa might not like it.

"Taste this." A daifuku in front of his face interrupted his thoughts. He turned to the owner of the hand. "What?"

"I made this mochi myself. Taste it." Rukawa moved the round dessert further to his mouth, almost touching.

Sendoh was too surprised. Rukawa is feeding him! An unlikely gesture. He can feel a little burn on his cheeks.

"You don't like it? Fine." Rukawa, as impatient as he is, took his wrist back when the other didn't comply on his demand. But Sendoh held the arm and quickly bit on the soft dessert on his hand.

Rukawa could feel the nervousness while watching Sendoh munched his work, anticipating for a positive feedback.

To his relief, Sendoh turned to him with satisfaction on his face. "Now this is perfect." He lifted Rukawa's arm again and finished the remaining mochi on his hand.

"Are you being honest?" Rukawa asked, ensuring it is an honest criticism. But the initial reaction is fluctuating his inside with joy. Sendoh smiled his eyes on him and drew an X on Rukawa's chest. "Cross my heart."

He sterned. "That's not your heart idiot."

Sendoh responded with a chuckle, still grinding the dessert inside his mouth.

Rukawa's face miraculously brightens with a slight curve of his lips.

"Oh. Isn't that a beauty?"

"What?"

Sendoh poked a cheek. "You're smiling."

"Tch. You're hallucinating." Rukawa picked the Sakura mochi this time and moved it forward to Sendoh's mouth.

"Oh you made another? Are you aiming to become a mochi master?" he jeered, in between munching.

"Stop blabbering."

He chuckled. "Wait up. I only have one mouth."

"Even in eating, you're lazy. Chew faster!"

He chuckled again. But in all honesty, this moment is fluttering him inside. Apart from Rukawa feeding him, his criticism on his work is being taken seriously. And the smile, the once in a blue moon sight, is starting to appear comfortably right before his eyes.

When his mouth is clear, he took a bite on the pink mochi, pausing to taste it. "Not a fan but it taste good."

The next mochi is an ice cream filled. Rukawa feeds it to him as he happily bites on it, even though his mouth is still full. "Oh coffee flavored. I like this."

A glimpse of Rukawa's face in relief was witnessed again by his eyes. His fingers reached for his chin. "You are smiling."

Rukawa remained silent, back to his stoic expression.

His face softens, turning to its seriousness. "Smile only to me, Rukawa." he said. The thought of this mysterious smile being shown to others, particularly on Shoyo's center, distresses him. A feeling of selfishness, unlikely of his character, but he wants to own this. Only to him.

Rukawa can feel his troubles through his eyes. So he reached for his spiky hair and tapped on it, "Here doggy doggy."

Sendoh was a bit surprised by the unforeseen joke. His hand then crumpled Rukawa's whole face. "You fox!"

Rukawa removed the hand on his face. "I made five boxes, bring home another two for Anika-chan and Akane-san." he said. Sendoh curved his lips. "Thank you. I'm sure they would loved it."

The raven-haired speaks again. "Sendoh I need to go to the mall. I have to buy necessities for next week." he stated, referring to the Inter-high as they will be staying the entire tournament in Hiroshima.

Sendoh seems to understand what he meant. "Okay. Sure."

"Why do you have to take your bike?" The two arrived at the nearest mall from the Rukawa's residence.

"To carry the items." he said, tapping the basket in front.

"I see. Where are we heading first?"

"Akira!" A woman's voiced called from a distant. Both turned. Sendoh has easily recognized the woman. "Yumi?!"

'Odd.' Rukawa thought, for the guy is cursed in remembering names. Perhaps someone important.

As the woman approached, Rukawa scanned the girl. A simple beauty but neat. Golden-brown straight hair, jaw length. No fancy make up or anything, not like the one he met on the cafe near the train. Rika? Ria? Risa? Can't remember the name. The woman in front is different. A lady-like feature. Modest based on the way she dressed. Wait? Why is he scanning her?

"Thought I'll be seeing you tonight Akira. This is earlier than expected." she laughed in grace, covering her mouth.

Rukawa noticed the way she calls Sendoh. She addressed him by name. Is she a best friend like the nagger?

"Tonight?" Sendoh looks surprised. "I thought tomorrow." he stated in embarassment. Rukawa could only roll his eyes. The guy's memory is too disfunctioned.

The girl laughed. "You haven't changed Akira. To think, I told you just last week."

"Oh sorry? It slipped my mind." He reasoned out, scratching his head. Sendoh turned to Rukawa. "This is Yumi. Our previous neighbour who moved to Tokyo just recently. Families are close." Rukawa couldn't understand why he has to know. He doesn't really care.

Sendoh then introduced his companion to the lady. "Yumi. This is Rukawa."

A delicate hand was offered. "Nice to meet you, Rukawa-kun." Rukawa is not really a handshaker but he doesn't want to disappoint Sendoh, so he accepted it.

"She's the female friend." Sendoh explained, referring to the one he's talking on the phone from last week's sleepover.

"Ah. The one night wo--" Sendoh quickly covers his mouth, surprising the lady in front. "She's not one of them. She's different." he whispered.

"If you say so." he said as soon as his mouth is freed.

"Ah Akira." Rukawa noticed a hint of blush on her cheeks. "I hope you can make it tonight. I have a gift for everyone and..." The girl shifted his gaze dowm while scratching a cheek. "... also for you."

Blushing. Nervous. Is it possible that they are both feeling the same way around Sendoh?

"Of course." The jolly one said. "I'll be there. It's not everyday you're here in Kanagawa. You seem busy now."

Her face brightens. "Yeah. A little. You know, it's almost night so why don't we go together? I'm actually heading to your house."

"Ah sorry but--"

"You can go." Rukawa cut him off, before he could decline the lady's request.

Sendoh was surprised. "I thought you need me to--"

"Oh sorry Rukawa-kun." A sincere apology is uttered by the lady. "I didn't mean to..."

"No need." he quickly halted her, stopping the unnecessary explanation. Then he turned to Sendoh. "It's fine. I won't take long."

"Are you sure?" Sendoh asked.

"Don't make Akane-san and Anika-chan wait. I'll kill you."

Yumi was a bit surprised about the violent statement but Sendoh quickly explains. "Ah. This is his normal way of speaking. He doesn't really mean it."

"Oh I see." she chuckled.

Sendoh turned to Rukawa again. "Message me when you get home. Don't take long."

"Okay." he bowed a little to Yumi before leaving with his bike. When he is a few steps away, he glanced back, watching the two walking side by side.

As Rukawa went inside his house, his phone suddenly rings. A call from the usual.

"Hey, are you home?" Sendoh asked from the other line.

"I am." he replied, as he changed his shoes to home slippers.

"I thought you're gonna message me once you are."

"Tch. I just got here, idiot." he gnarled as he headed upstairs to his room.

A chuckle was heard from the other line. "Okay I forgive you."

He gritted his teeth. "I am not apologizing."

"Sorry about a while ago." Sendoh said.

"It's fine." He heard the childhood female friend's voice in the background. "Still have guest?"

"Yes. She might stay for the night." he stated. "Have you bought everything you need?"

"Aye."

"They love your mochi by the way, especially Nee-chan. All gone in an hour." he laughed. Somehow, this flutters him. "That's great to hear."

"Okay. I'll see you soon."

"Okay."

"Have a good night."

The call has ended.

As Rukawa steps inside, his eyes caught the newest thing in his room. Three blue roses on his bedside, displayed in a slim transparent vase. A note is below it 'To brighten your room.' No doubt who delivers it.

He sat on the edge of his bed and pick one from the three mesmerizing beauties, reflecting on his own bluish eyes. He ran his thumb through the soft petals.

This beauty has become a favorite. Roses tinted in blue. Everytime he looks at it, he felt warm and secure. But this time, the feeling is different.

The feeling of hollowness. An unfilled space. A gap.

They've been friends for weeks but it felt like he is still far from his reach. Is it basketball? Their skills? Or is it because he got little knowledge about his life? His favorite color? Favorite food? Even his birthday, he got no clue.

And his name.

His given name. The other best friend calls him by his name. The lady, introduced as a childhood friend, is allowed to use his given name. So what is their differences? What is so special about them? Is it because their bond just started weeks ago? But why Tohru offered his name so easily? Why can't he?

But really, what is weeks compared to a year of friendship? Or worst, to a childhood friend? How much does he know about Sendoh? And how much does he not know?

"Closer." he whispered as he softly caresses the petals. "Let me move closer. I want to know more." he added, deeply staring at the blue rose, feeling the warmth of the giver through its softness.

"Akira."

A/N: I am not promoting Extraction by any means. Hahaha. I just love the movie.

Hope you like the SenRu progress.

Review me darlings.
