Kenshin pushed the doors of the police station aside and walked through. "I need the chief." He was directed to the office where he was let in.

"Mister Himura. Have you found anything yet?" The man placed his chin on the backs of his hands.

"The murderer is not a human. It's a monster, and you will not be able to handle it."

"What kind of monster? A grimm? Here?"

"No, it's not a grimm. It's something much worse and far older." Kenshin's eyes shined with a hint of gold as he finished.

"Where did you get this information? Did you find it?" The police chief was getting more and more agitated as the conversation went on.

"I had an encounter. I cut it in half, from waist to head. It stood up and attacked again. Fortunately it is now incapacitated and on the run. I will handle this from now on. Call off the investigation." Kenshin began to leave when the chief stopped him.

"Where are you going?" The red haired man looked back at him.

"I need to find it, so I'm going to someone who can track it down." He closed the door behind him.

"The attempted robbery was led by nefarious criminal Roman Torchwick, who continues to evade authorities. If you have any information on his whereabouts, please contact the Vale Police Department. Back to you Lisa." The screen switched to a woman with light purple hair.

"Thank you, Cyril. In other news, the Faunus civil rights protest was disrupted by the White Fang. The once peaceful organization has now disrupted-" The feed was shut off and replaced with a hologram of another woman.

"Hello and welcome to Beacon. My name is Glynda Goodwitch. You are a select few who have the honor of attending this prestigious academy, where you will have access to the training and knowledge necessary to protect our world." The hologram receded into the projector and Yang looked out the window.

"Hey Ruby. I wish you could see this, but Signal is only a few miles away." Ruby's shoulders sank, then Yang put an arm around her. "Don't worry about it. I'm sure we'll figure things out soon." The ship they were in began to ascend and Ruby was thrown off balance. She sank to her knees and held her head with one hand, concentrating.

"Ugh, aagh." Someone to the side of her sounded like they were about to puke.

"Well, at least I'm not the only one with motion problems."

The giant ship landed at the docks and everyone departed. Ruby was glad to be back on solid ground. The person she presumed was a boy from the sounds they were making made a dash for the garbage can and began to fill it. Ruby and Yang got halfway down the path when the older of the two looked out over the school.

"This is great. The school is absolutely gigantic up close." Ruby clicked her tongue a bit louder then normal, just to see how far she could hear. She got to the front of the building before it fizzled out. Not to mention all the other sounds of people walking around, opening and closing their weapons messing with her echolocation. She pulled air in deeply through her nose and let it out.

"I smell fish. It's faint, though. Where's it coming from?" Ruby continued to sniff around for a few seconds before Yang spun her around and took off with a group of people saying something about meeting up with her later at some point. The young girl fell over and crashed into something.

"What are you doing?" She bolted upright. "Do you have any idea what you could've done?"

"I don't know what happened. Who are you?" Ruby hadn't the faintest idea what was now going on. She laid her hands on whatever she had crashed into and felt some sort of leather or cloth. It was so fine she couldn't tell.

"Of course you don't even know who I am. You're even looking at one of the company logos on my luggage. Doesn't that symbol ring any bells?" The voice started to sound vaguely familiar and very feminine.

"I don't know who you are and I can't see whatever it is you're talking about."

"What are you, blind?" The girl's voice raised in volume and pitch.

"Yes, actually." Ruby looked at where ever she thought the new girl was, and that's when Weiss saw it in her eyes.

"Oh my god, I'm so sorry. I didn't realize-"

"No problem. It happens all the time." Ruby stood up and dusted herself off. Weiss saw the cataracts filling her pupils and the faint scars across her eyelids.

"Is there any way for you to not do that again?" Ruby looked in her general direction.

"Yeah there is. Just one second." She picked up one of the suitcases, brought it up to her face and inhaled deeply, taking in it's smell. "Okay, I got it." She handed the object to the girl covered in white.

"Be more careful next time." Her voice was getting huffy again.

"Will do, princess." Ruby made a half hearted salute.

"It's heiress actually." That was a new voice. "Weiss Schnee, heiress to the Schnee Dust Company, one of the largest producers of energy propellant in the world."

"Finally some recognition." Weiss raised her arms above her head and let them drop back to her sides.

"The same company for it's controversial labor forces, and questionable business partners." Ruby heard the muscles in Weiss's face contract into a scowl.

"Why you. How dare- Ugh." Weiss's heels clicking against the concrete as she walked got softer and softer.

"Well, that could've gone better. There's that fish smell again." Ruby turned toward the other person, a girl based on the voice, and heard them walking away too. Her eyes closed slightly as she sank to the ground and threw her back against the stones. "Welcome to Beacon." A strange presence and familiar smell was slowly getting stronger.

"Hey, I'm Jaune." The voice sounded like a boy, and from the name, definitely. She heard muscles stretching and felt something come closer. It felt alive, so she grabbed it. The boy, Jaune, helped her off the ground and to her feet. Then the smell hit her.

"Aren't you the guy that threw up on the ship?"
