Chapter 24

Hela and Falcon spent ten days away from the palace and didn't leave their little cottage Falcon had built by the waterfall. It was small but only the two of them would ever be there so it was perfect. From its cream coloured bricks, teal colour roof and flowers surrounding the property. Inside, it had a simple kitchen and living room with large bathroom and bedroom, all warm colours and welcoming. It was the artwork on the walls, small paintings done of their time together from being children running around the palace to present day, all warming her heart and making her smile every time Hela looked at them. He had built it to be their little piece of paradise away from life at the palace and Hela loved the idea and the two would surely return.

Alec and Ari took over during that time so they wouldn't be overloaded with work upon their return. They could have extended their honeymoon but they missed their family, the family Falcon was now officially a part of. All the guests from the wedding had gone home, including Hermione and the twins who were taken home by a Niflheim ship and they were back on Midgard within a few hours. Life on Niflheim was returning to normal and Dahlia was even back to hunting the last Horcrux that they needed before they could go for Nagini and defeat Voldemort.

The newlyweds were welcomed back with open arms and smiles but the happiness that filled the palace barely lasted a week when Dahlia finally was able to see and sense where the Horcrux was. Dahlia could sense magic, magic unlike the witches and wizards of Midgard but she could sense that the magic that was around the Horcrux was of Midgard but different to what Dahlia was exposed to at Hogwarts. As she looked closer, she could see a dark room crammed from floor to ceiling with golden coins and goblets, silver armour, the skins of strange creatures, potions in jewelled flasks and more.

With the help of Hela's list of Voldemort's loyal followers and the places that Hela's men had searched, there were still some places left to be searched. The Vaults of Gringotts were on the list and that was the only place that held magic of Midgard that wasn't possessed by wizard kind; the powerful magic of the goblins, who wouldn't know what was deep beneath their vaults as they kept out of wizard business and only cared about matters which would benefit them. Thankfully, the goblins would much rather do business with royalty than Death Eaters and they would use that fact to their advantage if they were caught. Hela had already made arrangements with Gnark, the head Goblin, for the family to have a vault and Hela had put enough gold and diamonds inside to make the goblins green with envy but filled with enough pride that they were the only bank on Midgard to have such a client. It was only a small amount to Hela, she wouldn't miss it but even she couldn't ignore the benefit that what was in the vault could come in handy to her family if any of them ever became stranded on Midgard.

It wouldn't take much to break into the vaults, Loki had done so before and thanks to Hela's spies she knew exactly where the vault was. It wasn't that they didn't wish to involve the goblins, they didn't care about the wizarding wars, they just didn't want them knowing what exactly they were looking for and breaking in was much quicker than having a meeting with the head of the bank. They already had the first vault in mind, the most protective vault of Voldemort's inner circle, the Lestrange family vault. Who else would Voldemort trust more than his right-hand woman?

Dahlia, Hela and their father appeared outside the vault, Hela saying a quick enchantment to disarm the defence wards that the goblins had in place for intruders. Their attention wasn't facing the door to the vault, it was to the gigantic dragon which was tethered to the ground, barring access to the five vaults that were the deepest in the bank. Unlike wizard magic, Hela had been able to open a portal behind the dragon, right in front of the vault but that didn't stop the problem at hand that the dragon could still sense them and could make enough noise to alert others.

The dragon's scales had turned pale and flaky during its long incarceration underground, its eyes were milky pink and both its rear legs bore heavy cuffs from chains which led into pegs deep beneath the rocky floor. Its spiked wings folded close to its body and they would have filled the chamber if they were spread but Dahlia doubted that the dragon had spread its wings in a long time.

Loki took a step closer to the dragon but the dragon looked to them and opened it mouth, ready to spit a jet of fire but Loki quickly held up his hand so that flecks of his green magic encased the dragon. The dragon became confused, its senses changing but soon its's eyelids became heavy and the giant dragon curled up falling to sleep.

"It's taught to fear clanking noise, it is constantly on guard. This is likely the most peaceful sleep this dragon has had since being here," Loki said, approaching the dragon to stroke its head as it slept.

"It's wrong that it's being kept here," Dahlia said as she stepped closer to the dragon to see vicious slashes across its face, knowing it would have been taught to expect pain when it heard the clanking noise and it was clearly hurt on many occasions.

"We will free it, but not today," Loki said and walked to the vault door and Dahlia took a moment before she followed.

Hela and Loki both held hands as Dahlia stood back to observe. "Do you remember the spell I told you?" Loki asked Hela. Hela nodded and the two held hands while one hand almost touched the vault doors.

"Aperti ad conteram incantatores, quae intus in praesidio," the father daughter duo repeated the incantation four times, the vault door becoming encased in their joint magic and after the fourth time, the door melted away revealing the inside of the vault. It was covered floor to ceiling with gold coins, goblets and armour just as Dahlia saw in the vision.

The three walked into the vault and they could all sense the dark magic that filled the air around them, every object in the vault was covered in dark magic and they knew best not to touch anything until they were certain it was the Horcrux.

"Can you feel it?" Hela asked her sister.

"It's all confusing," Dahlia answered with a slight shake of her head. "This is the place I saw in my vision, but there is so much dark magic in here, its…" she then put a hand to her head as she tried to focus on sensing the Horcrux but she was beginning to get a headache.

"It's okay," Loki said and put a hand on her shoulder. "Just look around. The darkness within the Horcrux is more potent than any other artifact in this vault".

The three split up and began to look around. They saw the gold and jewels and although they were valuable in some sense, everything Voldemort had chosen had been of some significance to him and they all knew what they could obviously see in the vault wouldn't be it. Dahlia looked up and began to look on shelves that went up to the ceiling and saw goblin-made helmets until her eyes were drawn to a small golden cup with two handles and a badger engraving. She had seen a picture of the cup before, it belonged to Helga Hufflepuff. It seemed no surprise to Dahlia that he had chosen something of another founder of Hogwarts, he already used Slytherin's locket and Ravenclaw's Diadem and the sword of Gryffindor had been used to kill his precious Basilisk.

She focused on the cup and could feel her scar beginning to hurt and knew she had found it. "Over here," she said loudly and her father and sister quickly came. She got out her wand from her waist and pointed it towards the cup. "Accio cup".

The cup didn't move.

"Midgardian magic won't work," Loki said.

Dahlia put her wand away and used her aesir magic instead. She allowed her magic to flow between her fingertips before swiping her hand towards the cup and the cup fell right into her hands. At the touch of the cup in hand, Dahlia's scar began to hurt more than before and she took a step back as she closed her eyes tightly. She almost bumped into a tower of coins but her father put his hand on her back to stop her. "Are you okay?"

Dahlia nodded with her eyes still closed and Hela took the cup from her and the pain eased but she still leaned into her father, the scar hurting more than it ever had when it came into contact with another Horcrux. "Let's go," Hela said and they walked out of the vault, making the vault door reappear before disappearing into a portal, the goblins of Gringotts never knowing that they were there.

They appeared back on Niflheim in Hela's office and Hela was quick to put the Horcrux with the others.

"I can have a small group of soldiers put together, that's all we'll need when we go after the snake," Hela said as she was putting the Horcruxes away. "We just have to find Voldemort, the snake will be with him and then we attack, grab the snake and then perform the ritual to send all of the pieces of his soul to the in-between and get the soul out of you, sister. We can find him today and ready the men for tonight, tomorrow at the latest, it won't take long to find him".

"Dahlia, sweetheart," Loki said concerned and Hela looked to them to see her sister looking paler than usual and swaying slightly.

"I don't feel good," Dahlia said then collapsed, Loki catching his daughter just in time before she hit the floor.

Hela and Loki rushed to the hospital wing, Loki carrying his daughter while Hela told the guards in the hallways to find her brothers and send them to the wing. Once they arrived at the hospital wing, Saida was quick on her feet, as were her assistants, in trying to help the princess.

Loki put her down on a bed but once he did that, Dahlia began to shake as if she was having a seizure and her eyes shot open wide and she began to scream. The scream so loud and piercing that it made everyone in the room reach to cover their ears for only a moment before Dahlia began to cry. She still shook and cried but managed to speak. "Daddy, daddy, help me".

Loki moved closer and sat on the bed and tried to hold her as he said, "sweetheart, what's wrong?"

She screamed and cried out again but this time, blood began to stream down from her head and Loki moved her hair to see that the scar was bleeding badly. Saida came close to look at the scar just as Dahlia's eyes turned black. "The soul inside of her is fighting," Saida said as she looked between Loki, her queen and the screaming princess.

Fenrir and Jörmungandr then ran into the room and Fenrir asked, "what happened?"

"It's the Horcrux, it's fighting but I don't understand-" Hela started but was interrupted by Dahlia.

"Angrboda," Dahlia said as she continued to shake, the blood still coming from the scar but she was breathing heavily, and began to sweat. "Purple man…I see…I see…" her teeth began to chatter making loud noises of them hitting each other. "With…with…Vol-"

She began to scream again and instead of shaking, she began to convulse and Loki had to move from her side so Saida could begin to help her but there was very little she could do when it came to the Horcrux.

"We have to get it out of her now," Loki said as he turned to his three other children.

"Papa, I need more time," Hela said. "The book of Akhmanrath does show a way but it has to be done while Dahlia's body and soul are in a state of change or parting the two, removing her soul just for a few moments but it is risky".

"What about the apple of Idunn?" Jörmungandr suggested. "If she has the apple, her body would be in a state of change and so would her soul because her whole being, and who she is, would be changed".

"Could that work?" Fenrir asked.

Hela thought for a moment as she was the most familiar with soul magic but she knew she didn't have long to think or look more into the idea. She agreed quickly. "Someone needs to get Dahlia's box from her room, the apple is in there but you can't get into it without her locket so bring it here. I'll get the books and the ingredients.

"I'll get it," Jörmungandr said and he and Hela ran out of the room.

Loki and Fenrir quickly began to help Saida and her assistants in holding Dahlia down as she was fighting back, trying to claw at her face as if she could rip the Horcrux out of her, which did nothing but add further damage with claw marks along her face. Loki and Fenrir both knew Dahlia would have bruising on her arms and legs where they were holding her but they had no other choice.

Jörmungandr returned first and Saida took the necklace off at Loki's command and gave it to Jörmungandr as they used Dahlia's hand to open the lid of the box as it would only recognise her.

Once open, Jörmungandr went into it using the necklace and following the directions of his father who knew exactly where the apple was hidden. It didn't take Jörmungandr too long to find the books on Asgard and the hidden cabinet behind them and finally he had the apple and left the box.

Hela returned only moments later and Dahlia had stopped fighting them in holding her down but they would have preferred that than to what happened. She became limp, she was getting cold, colder than she ever was before and if it wasn't for the fact that her skin stayed the same, they would have thought it was her becoming her Jotun self. Her breathing became shallow and they were all concerned, especially Saida as she felt for her heartbeat to see it was becoming faint.

They moved some of the beds so Hela had larger room to work with as she began to put flammable black powder on the ground, making the shape of heptagram. Hela then instructed her father to put Dahlia in the centre and he picked her up and held her in his arms for a moment before kissing her forehead and placing her on the ground. Hela then put all the Horcruxes around her, the necklace, the ring, the diadem, the cup and even the diary as it was a Horcrux at one point. Hela had hoped she wouldn't have to do this until they had the snake but needs must, and they definitely needed to get the Horcrux out of Dahlia.

Hela then began to pour different ingredients into a basin while following what the book of Akhmanrath said to do. "Papa, brothers, I need your blood," Hela said. "Dahlia is a living breathing person with a soul of her own, the only way I will be able this with such little preparation is if we give Dahlia something to hold on to. Who better than family?"

They each put their hands over the basin and Hela cut into them as well as her own before she went to her sister and kneeled and dipped her fingertips into the thick potion before drawing an octagram on Dahlia's forehead, covering the scar too. She also put the symbol on Dahlia's palms and had them facing upwards before she left the heptagram.

Saida's assistants were told to leave for their own safety while Saida stood by the door, not wanting to leave in case she was needed but also following orders to stay back.

Hela levitated the book so she read it while she stood. She held her hand out for the apple and Jörmungandr handed it over. "Papa, you'll want to do this," Hela said and handed him the apple. "There'll only be a few moments that Dahlia will be conscious to take the apple, I can only hold it for a few moments, okay?"

Loki nodded and took the apple.

Hela took a slow deep breath before her fingertips traced the writing on the bones as she said the spell. The moment the first words were spoken, the heptagram lit, the flames so hot it caused the brothers to take a step back and flinch at the heat while Loki was more focused on his daughters.

"Copias nigrum et album, per locorum temporumque inclination pelagus luce habere et atrox spectaculum animo. Nunc experigiscimini, nunc experigiscimini!"

Dahlia's eyes shot open and Hela made a pathway through the flames for her father and Loki was quick to move knowing they didn't have long. He kneeled down beside Dahlia. "Dad," Dahlia said sounding weak, not being able to move.

"You have to have this, sweetheart," Loki said as he held the apple to her mouth. "It's the only way to banish his soul".

Dahlia didn't hesitate and took a large bite from the apple. The apple was juicy and sweet, it was the most delicious apple she had ever had but as she swallowed the bite, she could feel a sensation going across her body as if she was waking up for the first time from a long sleep feeling refreshed.

"PAPA, MOVE!" Hela shouted.

Loki only just managed to jump away from Dahlia as the fire rose again and the leftover apple in his hand withered and died until it was ash.

Hela continued with the spell. "Caede peracta victoria inimicitias immortalitatem sapientiae. Rapta ignis ardens animus tuus non modo facti funus prier. Pereat quasi tinea flamma, spiritus hanc habitationem animae ad animae nigaro return".

As Hela continued with the spell, all of the Horcruxes, including Dahlia, began to shake. Suddenly, a black cloud left all the objects and Dahlia and the pieces of the soul began to fight to escape the heptagram but the fire created a barrier that the soul tried to fight against. The pieces of the soul joined as one and Voldemort's face formed in the black smoky soul and he snarled. "RELEASE ME".

"Expelle decretum tenebris meam in habitaculum animarum," Hela said then spoke the last bit of the spell loudly. "ABLEGARENT ERGO CONCIDERET".

Voldemort's soul screamed as it was pulled from this world and disappeared to the in-between where they would deal with him later when the remaining part of his soul joined together to be complete. Then he would get a very Niflheim welcome.

After the spell was complete, Hela felt lightheaded and collapsed to the left but Fenrir was stood beside her and caught her. "I'm okay," she said feeling a little dizzy and let Fenrir hold her.

Loki made sure she was okay before moving to Dahlia. The young witch was unconscious and Saida quickly walked to them to check her over to see that she was fine and just needed to sleep, her body changing and adjusting to the power that came from the apple. Loki picked her up and carried her to her room, not needing to stay in the hospital wing and his other children followed.

"Hela," they all heard someone calling and looked down the corridor of Dahlia's bedroom and saw Falcon running towards them.

Falcon took Hela into his arms and hugged her as it was clear she was still very much weak. "I'm okay, don't worry," she said comforting her husband.

He pulled back but put his hands on her waist and glanced into Dahlia's room to see the brothers and Loki putting an unconscious Dahlia to bed. "What happened?" he asked. "I know pieces of Voldemort's soul are in the in-between, I sensed them and I knew something must have happened to Dahlia. What happened?" he raised a hand to cup her cheek.

"We don't know yet. Papa, Dahlia and I went to get a Horcrux and we got it but Dahlia collapsed and wouldn't stop shaking. Voldemort's soul was fighting inside of her and the scar started bleeding and we knew we had to get it out of her. I performed a ceremony from the book of Akhmanrath but to get it to work, Dahlia had to change. We gave her the apple of Idunn and I said the spell and it worked. All the pieces of his soul that we had are now in the in-between".

"But how can the soul fight back? I thought Dahlia had control?"

"Angrboda. Dahlia said her name before she started screaming, that and a purple man that has to be Thanos. She said they were with Voldemort. I don't know how they got to him, how they even know about him. I've had the search team searching for months, how could they have got into the nine realms without us knowing?"

"They could have accomplices, Angrboda is also a sorceress, she could have used magic to get to Midgard and so she could be behind the Horcrux fighting itself inside Dahlia. As for how they know about him, we don't know what Odin has been telling people. If people's perception of Dahlia is fear because of her mixed blood, Odin may have tried to reassure them by telling them Dahlia has a prophecy of good for now".

"We have to find them," Hela said. "If Voldemort is with them, this isn't some simple Midgardian war now. He'll have Thanos' army, and he's destroyed worlds".

"We need answers," Loki said as he and the boys approached. They turned to face him as he spoke. "Voldemort has followers of his own, if he didn't leave with them, they should know something, especially his inner circle. They will be under orders to likely create as much carnage as possible. If the inner circle are not on Midgard, they have children of their own that they likely haven't taken with them".

"Your majesty," they heard and looked down the hall to see the dark elf Nelvu running down the hall. He stopped and bowed to them. "Lord Thortun sent me. We've had a communication sent from Asgard regarding the Princess".

They all looked to one another, wondering why Asgard would be communicating about Dahlia when Loki spoke. "They must know she has taken the apple".

"But why contact us?" Jörmungandr questioned. "They knew she was going to take the apple eventually".

"Let's see," Hela said.

"I'll stay with her," Fenrir said. "She shouldn't wake up alone".

Fenrir stayed while the others went with Nelvu to the main command centre below the castle. The guards, engineers and others were walking around working but Loki's attention was focused on Lord Thortun who stood by the computers.

Lord Thortun turned when he saw them and bowed. "Your majesties, milords," Lord Thortun said. "We received a transmission from Asgard requesting that Queen Frigga be given permission to come to Niflheim. She claims to have information regarding the Princess that you aren't aware and she must speak with you urgently".

"She has not said what information?" Loki questioned.

"No, milord".

Everyone looked to Hela as it was ultimately her decision on whether Frigga could come to Niflheim. Even though Falcon was the new King, Hela was the Queen and she was the one who had history with Frigga and he would never go against her, especially when he wasn't bound by a soul contract like his wife and her father and siblings.

"I give permission," Hela said with only a moment of hesitation, not wanting the Asgardian on Niflheim but the desire the know what she knew about Dahlia outweighed the dislike she had for the woman. "I'll weaken the shield above the courtyard, we have no time for travelling when Dahlia is in such a state".

Lord Thortun sent the response back to Asgard while the royal family went upstairs to the courtyard. With the order, the courtyard was clear, Hela not wanting any of her citizens in the presence of the Asgardian Queen. All left except the guards who stood standing the attention. Being connected to the shield protecting Niflheim, Hela focused and made the shield weaken above the courtyard but only for a few minutes as the light from the Bifrost hit the courtyard and as it disappeared, the Queen of Asgard was stood alone.

"Ruin our courtyard," Hela mumbled at the burn marks now on the stone work.

Frigga only glanced around for a moment before she approached them. "Dahlia has taken the apple, hasn't she?" Frigga asked, already knowing the answer.

"Yes," Loki answered. "Within the last hour. You claim to have information about Dahlia that we don't know, what is it?"

"You have to put her somewhere safe right now. We don't know what powers she has, if any at all but until you do, she needs to be isolated," Frigga said with urgency.

"Powers?" Jörmungandr asked concerned. "We already know what she is capable off, what powers do you speak of?"

"I don't know," Frigga answered then looked to her adopted son. "But once she took the apple, we knew because the Norns saw what she has become-"

"A goddess," Loki interrupted knowing the Norns only would have spoken about his daughter's power if she was gifted with something after her change.

Frigga nodded.

"Of what?" Loki asked with urgency, wanting to know what title his daughter was now burdened with.

"The Norns were confused but they agreed that Dahlia is extremely powerful, powerful enough that they struggled to understand what she was at first and they still don't know if she has any powers from the title but it is believed she will. They couldn't see what she is to become. They say they understand why she might be hidden from their view because she has the title of the Goddess of Destiny".

Loki froze. He understood why the Norns could not see, why Frigga needed to see them with such urgency. He had never heard of a god or goddess of destiny before. If Dahlia truly was something new, something unknown, then she would awaken with no guide, no one to help her truly understand what she was going through and no books or diaries from previous Gods and Goddesses of Destiny when there were none. He was also filled with the fear that his daughter being something new would attract even more attention.

He looked to his two children and his son in law and it seemed they were worried too and had come to the same conclusion as him. At the sound of smashing glass all around the courtyard though, they all ducked to avoid the glass but it was only when the glass began to hit the ground that they all heard the scream and looked up to see the scream was coming from a familiar bedroom window.

"Dahlia," Loki said and ran into the palace, the other four following closely behind.

As they got to the corridor of Dahlia's bedroom, they saw at least ten guards on the floor and they arrived just in time to see Fenrir being thrown from the room and crashing hard into the wall, the wall splitting under the pressure.

"FENRIR!" Loki shouted and then ran but the doors to Dahlia's room slammed shut.

"I'm okay," Fenrir said slightly groggily as he stood. Falcon and Hela checked on the guards, they were okay and told to leave.

"What happened?" Loki asked.

"She woke but everything started to shake then levitate around her, her hands were glowing again then she said she could hear voices and she just screamed and everything broke. I tried to help her but I couldn't and the guards came and they were thrown back and so was I. Papa, the last time her magic took her over like this…"

"I know," Loki said remembering the time at Hogwarts. He went to the door and began to bang on it. "Dahlia, sweetheart, open the door," he said loudly but the door wouldn't budge and he put his ear to the door to try and listen but all he could hear was crying.

"I'm sorry," Dahlia cried loud enough that they could all only just hear her.

"Sweetheart, we can explain your powers now and why this happens. Please just open the door and we can talk," Loki said using his magic on the door but it wouldn't open.

Hela even tried to open a portal into the room but it wouldn't and Falcon tried to shift into his Death self and disappear into the room but Dahlia's power stopped him too.

"This has happened before the apple?" Frigga questioned.

"Yes," Jörmungandr answered. "But the other times, it has been to protect people".

"But why this time?" Fenrir asked. "There was no threat".

"To her there is," Hela said then looked to her father and brothers. "The last time she threw you, internally her magic acted out because she was trying to protect you from herself. Perhaps that is what it is doing again. Dahlia is stopping us all from getting in there and to stop Falcon and I, that takes a lot of power and determination. Her magic must think she's protecting us".

"Right now, I don't care why it's doing it, all I care about is getting in there," Loki said to them before his attention was back on Dahlia. "Dahlia, I need you to open up".

"I'll hurt you, I know it," Dahlia cried.

"No, sweetheart, you won't. We've been through this before, I promised I wouldn't let you hurt anyone against your will and I know you don't want to harm me. Allow me in and we can talk, just me, everyone else will wait out here…please, Dahlia".

The door slowly opened ajar and Loki stepped inside, the door slamming shut behind him and locking again. He knew the lock was of little use but the magic of the girl inside is what was keeping the others from entering the room. He looked around the room to see some of the furniture broken but what surprised him most was that almost everything was floating in the air, the bed, broken pieces of furniture, even the small pieces of glass from the broken windows.

Dahlia was sat in the centre of the room, her legs pulled up to her chest but she was surrounded by pieces of ice and ash, as if ice and fire had a part to play in all this. As he approached, she looked up, her eyes red from crying. "I'm sorry," she cried. "I didn't want to hurt Fenrir or the guards".

"They're okay," Loki said kneeling down. He saw her hands and saw the light coming from them, not as brightly as in the past but still shining enough for him to notice.

"It's stronger than before, I can feel it is. I tried to stop it, I promise, but I couldn't," she said then looked down to her side and Loki followed her gaze to see her wand beside her, split in half.

Loki went to reach out for her but she flinched. "It's okay. You won't harm me." He sat on the floor and opened out his arms and gestured for Dahlia to join him and she hesitated but soon crawled into his arms and once his arms were wrapped around her and she was comfortable, the light of her hands went away and everything around them slowly began to fall to the floor.

"What's happening to me?" he kissed her head as she asked. She looked up against his chest as he looked down on her. "We've tried to find out the truth behind this magic before, and we failed. Dad, it's too strong now, I can't control it".

"Yes, you can. My sweet little Dahlia, you have been controlling it all this time. This power has been within you all this time, it has only now gotten stronger because of the apple".

"Why?" she asked as she frowned.

Loki hesitated but knowing she needed to know, he told her. "Frigga is outside with your siblings".

"Why's she here? Dad, what's going on?"

"It seems you are a goddess; you are the Goddess of Destiny".

"Hela told me about being a goddess. She said there are only so many titles, that it can skip generations but there are books, diaries, from the past people who had the title. I can learn how to control this from them," Dahlia said, hopeful.

Loki hated to take away that hope but the truth needed to be told. "I'm sorry, sweetheart, but no. There has never been a God or Goddess of Destiny before, you are one of a kind".

"A freak of nature you mean," she commented. "Why do I always have to be the something new, the something no one knows nothing about".

"You are not a freak; you are my daughter and I love you. We can handle whatever comes our way. Yes, we are in the dark but your powers are linked to your emotions, even with the outbreak of your full powers now, you pushed back your brother and the guards and unknowingly put a shield around the room so no one can get inside. Your desire to protect those you care about outweighs anything your power does. Look at what happened with that professor, your magic harmed her because you knew she would only continue to harm children. I know your powers scare you but I will help you control them; we now know it is because you are a goddess and Hela and I can help you. We didn't have control of our gifts either when we were young but we learned just like you will".

"And the voices, there are so many, what do I do?"

"We hear them too. They are the voices of the people of the nine realms you can help, who are asking for help. Since we fell into legend, the Midgardians didn't even know when they were doing it, I doubt they still understand we can hear them. They don't even have to be praying, they just have to want something so badly that we hear them. Now we don't hear everyone when they pray for us because deep inside, they know they don't need us. Only those who really need us we can hear. Frigga is the Goddess of Marriage and Fertility. If she blesses a marriage, the marriage is surely one that will last till death do you part and she helps those who long for a child, that is her power. Your sister can bring death to those who want it, you may believe she doesn't get a lot of prayers but you would be surprised. Those who are old, suffering, ill, even those who know Hela is the Goddess of Death pray at the end for peace. I on the other hand, don't just hear those who need help with mischief and lies like most would believe, I hear those whose lives are in danger and only a good lie can save them. I hear those who are going into battle, needing not strategy but a good trick to fool their enemies. We all hear those voices every day in here," Loki said and moved one hand from around Dahlia to point to his head before wrapping it back around her.

"How do you stop it?"

"I don't. I learned to focus, to put the voices to the back of my mind. They are small voices in the back of my mind, I barely hear them but I have learnt to hear each individual one and I think of ways to help and my magic helps them. What do you hear them asking?"

"I don't know," she mumbled as she turned her head into her father's chest and closed her eyes. "The voices, there are too many of them".

"You'll learn," he said and kissed her head. "I'll teach you and one day you won't even have to hear them if you don't want to. But you have to learn to listen before you can learn to stop them if you wish it. It's like your magic, just close your eyes, focus on one sound, one voice, the loudest of them all. Focus".

Dahlia focused for almost five minutes before one voice became clearer than all the others. "Midgard, a girl. She wants to study art but her parents want her in medicine. I keep seeing flashes, art leads to happiness and love but she'll lose her family. Medicine leads to money and her family's happiness but not her own".

Dahlia opened her eyes and looked up.

"It seems you have to help her decide which path to take," Loki said not liking the idea of his daughter being so in control of someone's life as she could blame herself for their faults or the way their lives go.

"But I can't be in control of someone's life," she replied. "What happens in their life is their choice, it's free will, I won't take that away".

"You're not taking it away. Your power won't take away free will it will just strongly encourage someone to choose what you believe to be best for them".

"So what? I choose her happiness or her family? That's not fair".

He raised a hand to cup her cheek. "It is not that simple," he replied. "I love you; your sister and brothers love you; I would do anything for you to make you happy. If this girl's parents do not wish for their daughter to choose what makes her happy, clearly, they do not love her enough. Dahlia, it is important to remember that not all families love like ours. Look at the one I was raised in, the one you were raised in, if you decide to help the people you hear coming to you, you have to think of people from all walks of life. If you decide against it, I will teach you how to control your power and soon enough block out the voices. Everything will be okay".
