Hearing the light footsteps approaching the front door, Dan Henze unholstered his weapon as he softly told Senior to get into the bedroom and close the door and stay there until he told him it was safe to come out. Waiting until the older man did as he was told, Dan silently across to the side of the door, his gun ready to use if needed.
He sighed a sigh of relief as he heard his partner call out, "You can relax, Dan, it's just me. I'm back," a heartbeat before he heard the key slide into the lock. Lowering his gun, he stepped away from the door as it opened, and McVie stepped inside. "What the hell took you so long?" he demanded.
"I told you, I had to report in. so I drove across town to phone in and then took the long way back." McVie reassured his partner as he brushed past him and closed the door. Turning back around, he glanced around the living room before he turned back to his partner and asked, "Where's DiNozzo?"
"In the bedroom. I told him to stay there until I made sure it was safe when I heard you walk up the stairs."
"Well, get him out here! We've got to get moving." McVie ordered as he hurried across to gather all their gear together.
"Get going? Where?" Henze asked in confusion as he watched his partner gather up the reports and files on Casini and the Casini mob family that he had been studying just minutes before.
"The boss has decided that NCIS should provide DiNozzo's protection. He's ordered us to take him to the safe house where they are protecting his kid." McVie answered, distractedly as he continued to gather the papers together.
"You're kidding me!" the younger man spluttered in disbelief. "Why?"
Straightening back up with the files in his arms, McVie looked across at his partner, "Who knows why. Maybe Gibbs whined into his boss's ear about us taking back control of the case and the boss decided that rather than cause waves it's easier to give in to NCIS demands." He shrugged again as he placed the files on the table before he turned and began to gather up their personal belongings as he added over his shoulder, "All I know is we've been ordered to take DiNozzo to the NCIS safe house on the edge of the Shenandoah Park and leave him there with the NCIS agents." Before he ordered gruffly, "Now hurry up and get DiNozzo out here. We have to get going!"

Jumping up from his desk and grabbing the unsanctioned file he had been collecting on McVie as he saw Gibbs round the partition, Tim began his report before the lead agent even took his seat. "Gabby's going over all the evidence that I collected at the motel, boss, and I took the statements both from the motel manage and the maid." he began nervously.
"And?" Gibbs snapped.
"The manager confirmed that Benettini and Aimone checked into the room two days ago, Boss, and that today he saw Aimone leave the motel, alone, with a backpack a couple of hours before he discovered the body after the maid noticed the bullet holes in the side of the car and the blood drops leading into the room. The maid just confirmed what he said."
"What about the BOLO on the car and Aimone?" Gibbs demanded.
"Nothing so far, Boss and I checked all the hospitals and clinics around the area for anyone being admitted for a GSW but so far nothing." Tim answered softly, flinching as Gibbs looked up and glared at him before he rushed to add, "But I think I have something that you will want to know about Agent McVie."
"Well spit it out, McGee or do I have to wait all night for you to tell me!" Gibbs snapped angrily.
"Yes Sir, I mean, Boss." McGee stammered, blushing as he lowered his voice, "I…ummm…I did as you asked, Boss, and hacked into the ATF data base and personal files…"
"And?" Gibbs demanded again, impatiently.
McGee shifted uncomfortably, glancing around to ensure no one was listening before he looked back at Gibbs, handing him the file he had so far managed to collect on the ATF agent as he answered nervously. "McVie has been an ATF agent for about five years. From what I was able to find out, he seems to be on the fast track up the ladder. He's been involved in helping to break some of the biggest cases and arrests but…"
"But what, McGee?" Gibbs asked, leaning forward.
The younger man blushed, "I… I couldn't find any sanctioned undercover operation involving McVie, Cassini or Tony's father. In fact, I couldn't find anything to show that McVie has ever been involved in any type of investigation into the Casini mob family or is now. From what I was able discover, Boss, McVie and his partner are supposed to be investigating a white supremacist group that has sprung up in Virginia after the group came to ATF's attention after they started stock piling automatic weapons."
"You mean, McVie and his partner are running this undercover sting on their own?" Gibbs asked, his anger rising as he remembered Fornell's observation about the ATF agent being a cocky son of a bitch and Fornells' own theory that it was possible that McVie was running the sting on his own.
"I…I think so, Boss." Tim nodded, unknowingly confirming Gibbs' growing suspicion of what McVie was up to, as he saw the anger flash across his boss's face as Gibbs rose to his feet.
"Come on, McGee, what are you standing there waiting for?" Gibbs growled over his shoulder as he headed towards the elevator.
"Where are we going, Boss?"
"To find McVie and find out just why he thinks he has the right to use one of my agents and his father as shark bait!" Gibbs growled as the elevator doors opened and he stepped inside, turning around and hitting the button to take them down to the parking lot just as Tim managed to step into the elevator before the doors slid shut behind him.

Stabbing the disconnect button on his phone and placing it back down on the small table beside him, the mob boss smiled, the bounty he had placed on DiNozzo and DiNozzo's kid's heads had finally paid off. DiNozzo's kid was hiding at a Fed safe house located on the edge of the Shenandoah National Park and DiNozzo was planning to meet him there later this evening, probably to plan their escape together with his one million dollars. Well when DiNozzo linked up with his kid, he would be waiting! There is no way in Hell that he was going to let either of them or anyone held up with them walk out of that cabin alive.
