Chapter 12
A/N: Thank you so much to anyone who's still reading! I'll have more Chloe and ange chapters soon because they're my absolute favourites to write, but for now this is another school chapter. These few chapters have been more of build-up chapters, so hopefully I'll have some more exciting ones up soon. (Also sorry for the delay in uploading, I took a bit of a break to focus on some other things but I'm back now :) )
Before leaving the bathroom, Chloe applied pressure to her arm to make sure the bleeding had ceased. Once she was sure that it had, she headed back out of the bathroom to the corridor. Somewhat coincidentally, Chloe quite literally bumped into Carrie as she headed out.
"Oh Chloe, you okay? Where's Lenny?" Carrie asked as she recognised the short blonde hair and piercing blue eyes of her friend.
"Oh um yeah, I just went to the bathroom. I think Lenny said he was in the library."
"Okay. Shall we go there then? We'll get Lenny and then head to the cafeteria."
"Yeah sure." Chloe finished as the pair continued along the corridor to the library.
When they got there, they saw Lenny at a desk with his notebook out and they headed towards him.
"Hey Len. Are you ready to go get lunch?"
"Sure, just give me one second." Lenny replied in his Scottish accent. Despite the school being located in Greenock, the pupils and staff had come from a wide range of places. Most being parts of the UK, but some from other countries across the world as well. Chloe and Lenny had Scottish accents, however Carrie had a southern English accent. Once Lenny packed up his things, the three of them left the calm and quiet library and entered the busy corridor filled with the hustle of everyone trying to get to the cafeteria.
The staff usually got their lunch from the cafeteria, and then headed to the staff room to eat it. Hence why most teachers were at the cafeteria, leaving a few getting their coffee and catching up on marking in the staff room. Lorna was one of the teachers marking, whilst Christine and Audrey were eating their lunch.
"What?" Lorna's internal voice had accidentally escaped. She was checking over her homeworks from her S3 class (not particularly to mark it as they had already done that in the lesson, but more to check everyone had done it and understood) when she got to Chloe's. It wasn't even a major issue- it was just an incomplete homework which is given to her from about 10% of students per homework set, but the issue didn't lie in the work but in the student it came from.
"You alright there Lorna?" Christine chipped in. Much to Christine's disapproval, Lorna was appointed deputy when she hadn't had any senior experience before. This was not to say that she wasn't a good deputy, because she was, but more that Christine used to be head and was shocked that the school would appoint someone with such little experience. Because of this, Christine had always been looking for signs of Lorna struggling in a sense to prove that they appointed the wrong person. This, however, had backfired as Lorna seemed to be doing an excellent job in the role.
"Everything alright?" Christine repeated when she didn't receive an answer.
"Yeah, fine Christine. Sorry, I thought out loud then!" Lorna replied.
"Well we might be able to help love." Audrey stated, keen to be of assistance.
"It's nothing really." Lorna hesitated, but then decided to go ahead and tell her colleagues. "I've just received an incomplete homework."
"Well that happens everyday." Christine said, confused about why Lorna was taking this so seriously.
"No, see, it would be fine, but it's from Chloe Godard."
"Ah." Christine replied. "That's not like Chloe."
"I mean she usually has to make sure her work is perfect before she hands it in. She holds herself to such high standards, too high standards."
"She was off earlier in my lesson, I don't know if it'll have anything to do with that." Audrey added.
"What happened in your lesson?"
"It was strange. They were all working in pairs, and I look up and there's Chloe and Carrie arguing over something. It was like Carrie had taken something but wouldn't give it back, I'm not sure." Audrey took a sip of her tea after saying this, only she soon realised it was too hot to drink and put it back down on the coaster.
"Did you ask her about it."
"Well I certainly tried to, but she wouldn't say anything. I mean it didn't seem like a big deal or anything, but it was just weird."
"Hmm." Lorna said, as she pieced all of the run-ins she'd had with Chloe over the last two days together.
"In registration yesterday she seemed a bit off." Christine added, receiving a 'go-on' look from Lorna as she did so. "I mean it wasn't much, she just seemed a bit dazed."
"Okay. Thanks guys." Lorna finished. She set Chloe's work to the side and made a mental note to follow up with her later.
