Percy groaned as he sat up in his bed, a glance at the window revealed it to be morning. This gave him pause as he realized that he had been asleep for considerably longer than he normally was. Granted, having fanatic nutjobs from the future popping up in your house would throw most people for a loop.
Not to deny his now groaning stomach further, he rose and gave a quick glance around his room. To his surprise, the only Necron influence that was noticeable was their own base. He could no longer see any units posted around his room. He smiled as he realized that they had taken his demands to heart and had 'not compromised the aesthetic' of his house. It didn't take a genius to figure out that they had simply hid themselves in various forms and fashions. Most were simply hiding behind some piece of decoration, while others were employing various forms of invisibility.
Another growl from his stomach forced him to move on and stop admiring. The upstairs living space was also unaltered, but he could have sworn the saw flashes of sliver and green here and there. As he made his way downstairs, he suddenly shuddered as a strange sensation came over him. A quick mental check revealed that the entirety of the third floor was covered in a Null field. The Necrons seemed to take his requests very seriously.
Sighing as he realized that he could now be pestered by the psychic minds that he could already feel around his. Before any could make contact, he yelled as he came down the stairs.
"WHOEVER WANTS SOME FOOD, COME TO THE TABLE!"
He felt a bit bad as he noticed some of the Tau forces covering their ears, but when they noticed his worried expression, they happily waved, easing his worry. As he made his way to the kitchen, while he didn't notice any direct battle damage, he did see that some things were slightly off colored under close scrutiny. He thanked his luck stars that the only carpet in the house were rugs in the bedrooms. His uncle, not being a fan of vacuuming, and how easily you can harm wood, had the entire house made out of as much stone, brick, and tile as possible. This particular trait had been a safety persuasion in case of a flood, as well as his uncle being slightly eccentric and wanting a castle. The result was a house that had concrete and brick as its major structure, with drywall and wood being added in for additional walls.
He made a mental note to make another announcement after he had some breakfast. He ended up setting out a bag of rice, jerky, ground coffee beans, and a serving bowl full of water. He then poured some of the contents of bagged items into separate plates and set them away from him. While he wasn't a military nut, Percy was pretty sure that the minis, at least the human ones, would appreciate what he had set out. Though he did need to gather more appropriate food for them if they ended up not liking whatever he had stashed in the pantry.
He noticed that there were a few of those presences hanging around his mind-scape, but seemed to be respecting his privacy enough to not completely violate it.
'Alright, does anyone having something to say, or are all of you just keeping an eye one me?'
Many of the presences didn't respond, but a few bothered to confirm that they were indeed just watching him before a familiar watery presence appeared and connected with his mind.
"That was rather rude of you yesterday, Mon'Keigh."
'I could say the same to you, Eldar.'
The presence that brushed his mind became cold, but Percy 'spoke' before it did anything.
'If it's of any consequence, I do apologize for shutting you of my own head yesterday. I really needed some peace and quiet for a while, and it seemed that I wasn't going to get that, even after I asked. So, I took steps to ensure that I could have my quiet when I want.'
Dehina was silent for a moment before speaking in an understanding tone.
"That is understandable, for ones just coming into their powers, they are often unable to find the stillness and silence they need during such a trying time. But you can't just keep shutting it out, as your powers eventually grow, going into that field will do you more harm than good."
'I am aware, I'm going to go to the space marines to ask for psyker training.'
There was a flash of emotion across the mental presence, but he didn't really catch what it was, and doubted it was anything.
"If you wish to do so, I hold nothing against it. Or are you perhaps asking me for permission? If you are, go right ahead. I might get some much-needed amusement watching you thrash about under their barbaric teaching methods."
Percy frowned at the Farseer's words, but knew that she was probably right, and decided to ignore the obvious sense of smugness emanating from the presence. The following minutes were filled with Percy's attempts at making a psychic wall to keep the Eldar away. Percy had been an avid reader all throughout his life, so began experimenting with imagining walls around his mind that slightly pushed out, a reoccurring concept in such stories.
Many people will find it impossible to imagine the feeling one gets when someone's mind brushes against their own, and even less can fathom what simply imagining walls around one's own mind really does.
Truth is, you can't. It is mostly relatable to someone discovering a hidden muscle in one's eyes that allows them to see the world differently, and then immediately turning around and trying to knowingly isolate a specific part of this new view of the world. One must constantly work a muscle they never had direct control over before, while not getting distracted by the new view, and while trying to identify something they have never identified before. That isn't even bringing into question the constant outside variables, such as other users of this power.
Percy's feeble walls crumbled under just a breezing touch of the Eldar's flowing mind. Any imaginary barrier he imagined was brushed aside, but he did find that the simplest while sturdiest ones seemed to work just a tad better. Instead of the whole mental image collapsing away from thought, a large hole would crumble away.
Eventually, Dehina's presence left him, and with none of the other ones bothering to attempt and enter his mind, he had to wait and see if the Space Marines would even bother training him. He wouldn't be surprised if they just said no or even dumped him onto one of the other Imperial factions, he was still a rather untrustworthy variable in their eyes. As such, it would be rather smart of them to deprive him of as many weapons as possible in the event he possibly turns against them. But he did prove his worth in giving them shelter, bothering to explain as much as he could, and stopping the small war that had been going on when he had gotten home, so he really didn't know how they would respond. He decided to leave it for his future self to deal with as he kept getting his food ready.
He then noticed a couple of salamanders (marines, not the creatures) standing outside on a windowsill as he got the supplies for his meal.
"To think that Holy Terra in its youth was this beautiful and tranquil... It honestly moves me beyond words."
"YES!"
"...It's very quiet outside. It is almost difficult for one to imagine that this world will eventually become the most overcrowded Imperial planet in the galaxy."
"YES!"
"... Are you alright brother?"
"YES, I AM JUST OVERCOME WITH EMOTION!"
"That's quite alright brother, I believe most of us are. Just be sure your emotions don't compromise your ability to perform your duty whenever the time comes."
"YES!"
Percy smiled at their conversation, not bothering to consider how he heard it so clearly despite the relative distance. It wasn't long after he had sat down and started wolfing down the bowl of milk and cereal, that the minis started showing up.
A couple of space marine squads escorted a small group of Guardsmen in a trio of Valkyries, both making a beeline for the set-out food. It wasn't the commanders, so they only gave Percy a brief nod, the guardsmen obviously still terrified of him, as well as being exposed out in the open with several xenos factions nearby. He smiled at them as they gawked over the food presented for them, becoming ecstatic when he told them they could take as much as they desired. The Guardsmen that is, the super humans were impassive as ever, though the Salamanders present did make their thanks known.
Soon after, the Tau floated over, causing the humans to stop and glare at them. But the atmosphere was broken by Percy drumming his fingers on the table next to the mallet he had placed there before hand and leveling a glare at the two groups. They both instantly stopped showing hostilities, but it was obvious they were still sizing each other up. The aliens had a similar reaction to the food, proving that Tau were at least compatible with human diets.
Percy still hadn't heard anything from the Sisters of Battle, nor had the Eldar decided to get some food. But in the case of everyone's favorite space elves, they did still have a functioning ecosystem for food if they wished it. And you can bet that they would have nothing to do with human food if they can help it, so Percy didn't really worry about them. It didn't help that a couple of the presences floating around his head agreed with his thoughts.
The Sisters of Battle, if they actually bothered getting food that came from him, would probably just get it through one of the other factions after they proved it was safe. Percy was pretty sure that those Mechanicus fellows didn't even eat food, at least not food that can be consumed by normal humans. The Necrons obviously didn't eat food at all, being spooky scary skeletons.
He left the groups to keep collecting food, making his way downstairs to the space marine area. Just as he was passing the doorway to the Eldar room, Percy felt a familiar consciousness approach his again. He raised an eyebrow, regardless if it could be seen, curious as to why the Farseer would bother contacting him again.
"While we may be able to get food from our own land, our land is currently inside a rather dark and musty basement, which isn't the exactly best environment for plants to flourish."
Percy winced at the realization that the Eldar's terrain was currently locked inside his own house, and he was pretty sure it wasn't separable anymore. He made his way into their room and look over the contraption that their fortress sat upon. After grabbing a measuring tape, he compared the width of the garage door to the width of the terrain piece, and found that it was same distance.
'Boy I hope that it can still fit out the garage door.'
He proceeded to unlock all the wheels and open the garage door, the Eldar seemed to appreciate the sunlight, even if they kept glaring at him. He approached the 'front' of the base, where the three Farseers had once again gathered.
"This is gonna be pretty tight, but it should still squeeze out the door. Though you guys might want to hold onto something."
The Farseers simply nodded, which was about as much conformation as he expected from them.
Percy griped the underside of the edge that he was at, and started to pull. The first thing he realized was that being turned from light plastic and foam into metal, bone, and dirt, really increased the weight of something. The entire diorama groaned and squeaked under the stress, but it seemed that through his uncle's basic engineering, and the patchwork upgrades of the Eldar, the structure held as it was moved along.
The Eldar on their part didn't seem to react to their entire base vibrating as it was moved. The contraption reached the garage door without mishap, but as it reached the threshold, its sides began scraping against the rails for the door. Since it was wood on metal, the noise itself wasn't unbearable, but it did force poor Percy to use all his strength to force the thing through. After a lot of grunting and quiet swearing, the massive structure was free, Percy took a moment to rest with his hands on his knees.
"Do you guys need me to move this somewhere else, or do you want me to keep it close to the garage so I can put it back if need be?"
Percy asked the assembled elves.
"Here is fine, thankfully your dwelling faces south, allowing us to have plenty of sunlight. We will make adjustments to our home so as to make moving it about easier for you."
Dehina responded in a cool tone, causing Percy to frown slightly, reminded of how relations with the Eldar had effectively deteriorated. Ultimately, he simply sighed and walked away with a nod, but as he was walking through the doorway into the house, the weather being pleasant enough for him to not worry about the garage door, he was stopped by a soft voice in him mind.
"Thank you, for helping us. While we are different in so many ways, if the Aeldari had met a race like you in our grim future, perhaps peace would have been possible."
Percy didn't turn around.
"Even if they asked the same as I do?"
The was silence for a long moment.
"...For one such as Euryra, who is not consumed by insanity or hate... Perhaps even then."
Percy smiled softy as he walked through, throwing one final piece over his shoulder. He was rather proud of how elvish is sounded despite being in the moment. Sure, it wasn't original, but it sounded awesome.
"Everything that was, and is, began with a dream, and the word: Perhaps."
"But do you know what truly made those dreams reality?"
"Faith, trust, and a little bit of insanity."
His smile turned into a grin when he heard faint melodious laughter.
I'M STILL ALIVE DAMN IT!
CURSE NURGLE AND TZEENTCH!
