A/N: Thank you for the comments.
Bobbi - Thanks for the warning. I think I managed to post at the wrong time last week. Hopefully the site won't break this week.
"Please can you ask your nurses to go easy on me?" John asked as he approached Jennifer in the infirmary a few days later.
"Good morning to you too." Jennifer replied only briefly glancing up from her computer.
"Sorry. Morning. Please can you ask your nurses to go easy on me?"
"In what way?"
"Right now I am getting more bruises from them than Ronon."
"They are landing blows in training? When did you start training my nurses?" Jennifer asked confused. "Is this part of your abusing your powers to gain revenge?"
"I'm not training them. It is from when I come in for post mission checks and post sparring treatment."
"I'm lost." Jennifer confessed as she stopped what she was doing and gave John her full attention.
"They are taking out their ire on me with big needles." He explained.
"Well you did cheat on me."
"I didn't cheat on you." John protested.
"That's not what Rodney said."
"Rodney has his own agenda." John reminded her.
"Teyla doesn't."
"What did Teyla say?" John asked.
"That's confidential." Jennifer smiled. "But if you really want me to protect you, I will."
"Thank you. I think." John said. "How's the wrist?"
"Almost healed."
"So ready for another mission?"
"What? No. That's not what I said."
"It kind of was." John said. "Don't worry everyone here knows that you are the number one priority."
"That won't actually change my luck."
"But it will stop upstart Captains thinking they know best and not call issues in."
"How is Fletcher? I've not seen him recently." Jennifer asked.
"That is because I sent him on another escort mission. This time with Rodney and Zelenka."
"That's a little harsh isn't it?" Jennifer asked.
"You nearly died." John reminded her before seeing flowers on the workbench. Pointing he asked. "Are they some sort of wonder flower?"
"Wonder flower?" Jennifer asked.
"Like pollen that cures a cold."
"Pretty sure they don't exist." Jennifer smiled. "They are not medicinal."
"They're not?"
"No. They are from my latest secret admirer." Jennifer said.
"A guy sent you these?" John asked.
"That almost sounded like jealously." Jennifer pointed out.
"More surprise."
"That someone would send me flowers?" Jennifer asked feeling a little offended.
"What? No. I just thought I had a little more respect round here. I mean they are openly hitting on someone they think I am dating."
"Only you have threatened everyone with Ronon if something happens to me, which it will, so it is not like they have anything to lose." Jennifer countered.
"So what I am hearing is I need to get more creative with my threats." John responded before asking. "Where do they even get the flowers from anyway? Are they bringing bio hazardous materials into the city?"
"Apparently they have been cleared." Jennifer said. "They came with a certificate of safety." She explained handing John a card.
"Only in Pegasus." He muttered. "Anyway I better go. I'll see you at dinner."
"Sure. Wait. Dinner?" She asked, but John had already gone.

"Dr Keller." Fletcher said later that day.
"Captain. I thought you were on a mission with Rodney and Radek?"
"I was. The two doctors had a professional disagreement, which resulted in the mission ending early."
"Is everyone okay?"
"Physically yes. Some people's pride may have taken a battering though."
"I'm sure they'll get over it. So what can I do for you?"
"First, I wanted to apologise for what happened. And I assure you I will never underestimate your luck again."
"I'm glad to hear that. Especially as you are stuck with me for probably the rest of your career." Jennifer replied.
"While not underestimating your luck, I believe forewarned is forearmed." Fletcher said.
"That sounds like you are underestimating my luck." Jennifer said.
"I'm not." He assured her. "But I do have an idea I want to run by you."
"Sure." Jennifer said.
"I have reviewed all your missions and the time you are in most danger is when you are treating a patient. So I want you, well your team to train me in emergency medicine, or to be a semi useful assistant, so I can be with you and help as well as protect."
"That sounds practical." Jennifer said.
"You sound suspicious." He pointed out.
"I tried to implement a programme for all military to get more extensive medical training, but no one turned up."
"Well I promise I will be there and I can strong arm some of the guys as well."
"That's great." Jennifer said.
"Good. Well I'll leave you to it. I'll see you tomorrow."
"You will?"
"You are on standby to provide emergency support to missions gone wrong." He said.
"I am?" Jennifer asked surprised. "I was only cleared today."
"Um yes. Major Lorne was keen to get you out there."
"Was he?" Jennifer asked, eyes narrowing.
"I feel like I have said too much. I'm going to go." Fletcher said leaving.

"You scheduled me to go off world tomorrow?" Jennifer asked as she approached Lorne in the Mess Hall, where he was sitting with John.
"Only if things go wrong." Lorne said.
"So yes." Jennifer said.
"That's not very optimistic." John pointed out before noticing Lorne's expression. "What?" He asked.
"Well your team is on a mission tomorrow." Lorne said before adding. "Sir. Um, look at the time, I should leave you for your date." As he stood John said.
"I don't want to find out there has been any betting."
"Yes Sir." Lorne said walking off.
"Shouldn't you have said you don't want any betting?" Jennifer asked John.
"The guys will always bet. As long as I don't know about it, it's fine." John shrugged before asking. "Aren't you going to sit?"
"Shouldn't you be eating with your team?" Jennifer asked before lowering her voice and asking. "Are you still trying to make the city think you are a good boyfriend?"
"Ronon was getting suspicious. Teyla suggested a public dinner would be good. Especially as we haven't had a public date since the incident."
"Incident?" Jennifer asked amused. "Are you referring to the cheating?" She teased.
"I did no-" He started only to notice Jennifer was laughing.
"Sorry, I'll stop mentioning it." Jennifer said as Woolsey walked towards them.
"Colonel Sheppard, Dr Keller." He smiled.
"Mr Woolsey." Jennifer replied as John nodded.
"I'm glad I caught you. I need to discuss a future engagement."
"Sounds ominous." John said.
"It's not. I just need you to both go on a mission."
"Together?" Jennifer asked. "But that is against the rules."
"It's not so much a mission as a diplomatic meeting."
"Sounding worse." John commented.
"Well you brought this on yourself." Woolsey added. "Chief Rals is upset that you turned down his daughter's advances."
"Told you I didn't cheat." John said to Jennifer.
"To smooth things over I would like you both to visit the planet for their festival next month so Rals can see that your spurning of his daughter was due to being in a relationship. Anyway, I will leave you to your dinner." He smiled before walking off.
"So now we are pretending to be a couple on multiple planets?" Jennifer asked quietly when it was just her and John.
"Seems like it." John agreed wondering why what seemed like a simple plan was getting so convoluted.
