Christmas was fast approaching and as the saying goes; it's the most wonderful time of the year.

For Olivia and Fitz it was definitely so; they're relationship were flourishing. Olivia spent thanksgiving with the entire Grant family since her parents went to Boston to celebrate with their extended family. Thus it was decided that the couple would be spending Christmas day with Liv's parents for a lovely lunch.

Currently Olivia was on her way to her parents house. It was a week before Christmas and since she had closed down her spa two days prior, she had a lot more time on her hands.

The two men heard the front door open, "That must be Evelyn. She went out to get a little last minute shopping done." Maurice told his guest.

Maurice thought it was his wife until he heard his daughter's voice ring through the house. "Dad, where are yo-- Oh. ." Olivia stopped; shocked upon finding her father in the kitchen along with a very unexpected visitor. Her ex fiance, Tyler Curran. It looked like they were catching up over a cup of coffee.

"Livvie.. I didn't know you'd be stopping by."

"Yeah, I was just-- nevermind. You seem to be busy right now. Maybe I'll swing by again sometime later tonight."

"Uh sure, yes.. definitely. Your mother's--"

"Out doing some last minute shopping, I know."

Olivia noticed how Tyler chose to almost completely ignore her presence. 'You're nobody to me' Those words creeped back into memory. The words he spat at her during their fight and ultimate break-up.

Yet she wanted to be nice and at least acknowledge him there especially since she has made peace with everything that has happened between them. So she offered him a cordial greeting, "Hello Tyler."

Their eyes met briefly as he raised his head. "Olivia." Short. Simple. Cordial? Maybe not.

An awkward pause followed their greeting.

"Will you be attending the christmas church service with us?" Maurice asked his daughter in an attempt to break the silence.

"Yes, we'll be there." Olivia answered absentmindedly, but then immediately felt a little bad. In no way was she trying to take a jab at Tyler or throw her new relationship in his face.

"Oh, Fitz is joining us?"

The shift in Tyler's body language didn't go unnoticed. It was the first time he could put a name to the mystery man who he blamed for wrecking his relationship.

"Yes Dad. You what, I really should be on my way. I'll see you at the service."

Maurice felt a tinge of guilt for Liv's swift exit. He didn't want her to think too much of the fact that he's still got a good relationship and understanding with Tyler.

Just minutes after Olivia's departure, Tyler decided it would be best if he left too.

"Hey Maurice this was great. It was nice catching up and talking to you again but I should head out. I think my family could do with a pair of extra hands to help around the house and prep for christmas."

"Yes I think you're right. I'm glad to know that you're doing so good for yourself though. "

"Thank you. Look, Maurice.. As much as I like you, and enjoy talking to you; I just don't think that it's appropriate for me to just walk into your home for a casual visit anymore. Obviously a lot has changed. But thank you for inviting me today. "

"At first I didn't think you'd show up because of..you know.. But I just wanted to to clear things up between the two of us. I considered you a son at one point and right now, certainly a friend. You're right though and I understand that things have changed and I should respect that. Plus I don't want to make my daughter feel uncomfortable in any way." As much as he liked Tyler, he just had to let it be known that his daughter is more important than anything else.

"Of course. Happy holidays to you and your wife."

"Thanks. Now go and have a great time with your family, I don't want to hold you up any longer."

"Hi."

Fitz's head shot up and an instant smile formed on his face when he saw her standing in his office doorway.

"Hi. You're allowed to enter my office you know." He chuckled.

"You look busy."

"Get over here right now Olivia Pope." The sass in his voice tickled her.

Liv released a quiet laugh as she made her way towards him. Rounding his desk, she planted herself comfortably in his lap. "I thought I was the bossy one in this relationship."

In response Fitz just grinned widely before latching his lips onto hers. As they kissed his one hand kept stroking her thigh.

With a satisfactory moan Olivia pulled back. "I needed that."

"Rough day?" He asked, kissing the tip of her nose.

"Not exactly, it's just. . I went to see my dad earlier and to my surprise I found him hanging out with Tyler."

"Oh.. May I ask how that went?"

"As good as it could have gone I guess." She replied, shrugging. "I mean from my part it was more of a surprised reaction. Like I just did not expect to see him being so chummy with my dad even though I knew they always had a pretty good relationship. I don't know it just felt weird, but don't get me wrong, I have nothing against it though. We're all grown and if they still want to hang out then that's fine."

"Is it really?"

"What do you mean?"

"Well I get that he sort of slipped into that role as the son your father never had and that's nice but surely your dad cannot overlook the effect that their budding relationship will have on his own relationship with you."

"It's not a big deal babe. It's not as if they're rubbing their friendship in my face or anything. If they wanna hang out, let them. As long as my dad understands that his friendship with Tyler should not have any influence on his opinion or feelings towards you and our relationship."

"I guess you're right. So, what else have you been up to today?" Fitz asked, kissing the corner of her mouth.

"I had a pretty lazy day. It could've been much more fun if a certain someone stayed at home with me."

"Hey! I gotta get all my admin work done." He said in a humourous attempt to defend himself.

"But it's the holidayyys." Liv pouted.

"I know that baby and in order for me to spend some stress-free, quality time with you and my family, I really need to get all of this done."

"Okay fine. I'll go so that you can finish up here."

"Wait, hold up! I don't want you to leave."

"Babe, you have work to do and I don't want to distract you from it."

"You're a welcomed distraction. Stay. I should be done with this in less than an hour then we can head out."

"Mister, we both know your work is gonna end up on the floor and I'm gonna end up bend over this lovely desk of yours. So no, I'm not staying. Get your work done.." She hopped out of his lap, ".. I'll see you at home."

Fitz tossed her a goofy grin, "Can I at least kiss you goodbye?"

"I mean you're a really great kisser so I guess you can." Liv said playfully as he got up to pull her into his frame. "No funny business Mr. Grant, just a kiss."

"Got it." He laughed as their lips locked.

"Bye, see you later. I think I'm going to take Booger for a walk."

"Yeah, he'd like that. Love you."

Liv winked and blew him a kiss on her way out the door.
