The Hero and The Inventor
Chapter 10: Another Time.
2 Months after Graduation...
Location: Development Studio.
"Please Power Loader?"
"No."
"Pleeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaassssseeeeee!?"
"No Hatsume," The pro replied, sitting at his desk with his feet propped up, as he flipped through another page of his inventor's weekly magazine. Much to the dismay of his former protégé', who was groveling on the other side of the desk.
"Please please please please please please please please please please pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease!?"
"Ya know the quantity of pleases doesn't convince me to do anything right?"
"What if they got louder?"
"That just makes me want to kick you out even more."
"That won't make me quit."
"Hound Dog will."
"I'm not afraid to scuffle with him."
"Then you will die braver than most."
"Hmph! You got really cold you know that!?"
"All those meetings with Aizawa really rubs off on ya Hatsume."
"Keep this up and you won't be invited to the wedding!"
"You invited me six months ago."
"I can UN-invite you."
"I have a guest reserved seat."
"Well we can always give it to someone else!"
"Like?"
"…"
"Liiiike?"
"Uhhhhhhh, Endeavor?"
"He won't show up."
"Aizawa."
"He has one to."
"Midnight."
"Maybe, just consider yourselves lucky if she shows up wearing anything formal."
"Drat…Nezu?"
"He'll be in Aizawa's scarf."
"Present Mic?"
"His loud sobs will shatter your ear drums."
"OKAY FINE I WON'T UN-INIVTE YOU SO CAN I HAVE MY OLD DESK PLEASE!?"
"No."
"But whhhhhhhhhyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy," she cried, her sobs staining the papers on the desk.
'I'll never forgive Midoriya for instilling a crying habit into you,' the pro thought as he grimaced, "Because Hatsume, it's school property, it's not mine to give and even if it was I need it for the upcoming freshman."
"The freshman didn't make it explode and rebuild it from scratch, the freshman didn't put scratches on it from every successful creation, the freshmen didn't sleep on it every day at your behest, and the freshman defiantly didn't make wonderful little babies on it with their future husband!"
"…God I hope you didn't make babies on that desk."
"Why?"
"Because I sometimes ate on that desk."
"Why would you eat on a desk that's had so much metal and oil on it," she flashed him a confusing look, the expression making him chuckle to himself.
"Your lack of awareness all these years never ceases to amaze me Hatsume."
"Awwwwwwwwwwwww thank you Power Loader," she blushed and smiled.
"You're welcome kid."
"…Sooooooo?"
"Still no."
"Grrrrrrr! Fine, I'll just take it, I'm a grown woman now, I can make my own decisions," she shouted triumphantly, dashing over to the desk with great speed, clasping her hands on the opposite sides of it, though quite heavy in it's entirety, joining Midoriya on his workouts did offer it's perks, one of which was getting a little swole in the arms department.
"Yes, now that you're eighteen and graduated you can make your own decisions as an adult."
"Glad to hear ya came around, Huuurrrgggghhhh," she pulled on the desk, dragging it away from the wall.
"Yeah, instead of juvey, you get to go to big girl jail!"
"…"
"Be a reaaaaal bad look if the next number one's wife was incarcerated no?"
"…We can pay you."
"Tempting but still no."
"Ugh….fine," she somberly relented in her quest, letting go of the treasured artifact from her times at UA, but not before rubbing the underside of it longingly, her frown slowly transitioning to a smile, as she remembered the first time she sat here, and when she saw her sad little dork sitting across from it all those years ago. Still unable to process that she was gonna call herself 'Mei Midoriya' soon, it never failed to make her eyes well up a little, Power Loader taking notice of her mood and her hand going under the desk, making both him a little suspicious, and feeling a little guilty for telling her no; no doubt in his mind that she already cleared a spot in her new place for it.
"Take good care of it, okay," she asked her mentor.
"I will Hatsume, I promise."
"Thank you sir."
"Hehe."
"What," she turned around and leaned on the desk, curious what his laugh was for.
"You can stop calling me sir now."
"Well it's hard to fall out of the habit when you've been saying it for four years."
"Astute observation."
"Wasn't I always good for those?"
"When you remember."
"May have a bad memory but I at least kept my smarts."
"Gonna need it whenever you start up that agency."
"Oh god I'm gonna have an agency," she giddily jumped in place, making the grown man laugh again.
"I'm gonna have to visit sometime."
"You will, but don't expect us to give you a job if you mess up the teaching gig."
"I won't hold my breath."
"That you shouldn't."
"Such compassion."
"…"
"…"
"Hey uh…Mr. Power Loader?"
"…Yeah?"
"I know I have no permittance to build here anymore but uh…"
"Yes?"
"…Can I build, one more baby on this old thing? I figured if I can't take it with me, that I could at least have one last ride ya know?"
The pro was silent, taking his legs off of the desk and placing his magazine down to look at her.
"Pleassssssseeeeeeeee?"
"It's Power Loader."
"Eh?"
"Just call me Power Loader…and don't ya think it's a bad idea, because I'm not sure if you remember but today is-"
"PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!?"
"…*Sigh*…Go bananas kid."
"YES," she shouted, lowering her goggles down over eyes, already dressed in her usual black workshop attire; Hatsume didn't like wearing many other things, but it never bothered her or Izuku, so she didn't try to change that. It made the old pro feel nostalgic in a way, seeing her get to work and already welding, it was a sight he would always appreciate, doubtful anyone after her would have her level of enthusiasm and passion, never another like Mei Hatsume, a smile formed on his lips, as he went back to his magazine, thankful for allowing her to do it.
He was never a fan of the quiet.
The worst thing you face, after saying goodbye…
'He may kill me for letting her do this today, but he gets her the rest of his life, I only get my pupil for a little while longer…so let this teacher say his goodbye in his own way. Eh, Midoriya?'
Meanwhile…
Tension, the last thing you should probably feel on your wedding day, it's understandable, everyone probably goes through it right? Yet the question on the quirk inheritor's mind was why he was so tense at a time like this, made apparent with his sporadic breaths, his chest heaving in the tuxedo he was wearing, thankful it wasn't tight or he may have busted the buttons on it.
"Okay Izuku breathe just breathe, it's just your wedding day, the day you walk away a happy and married man and map out the rest of your life with the woman you love who said yes I can't believe she still said yes my god how amazing can one woman get I mean it isn't impossible it's Mei shes always pulling off incredible things that I don't expect it's fine it's fine it's totally fine everything will be handled you'll be happy forever until you die no biggie no biggie at all just say the words 'I do' and it's done unless she changes her mind last second in which case I'll be totally miserable and depressed forever and sad so sad and then the walls may come down and crush me even if that doesn't happen and it'll be a bad end to the whole affair, hey when did this room get so hot and why am I light headed?"
"Maybe because you haven't taken a proper breath in the last couple minutes," a voice rang out from behind Midoriya, nearly making him yelp in surprise, but thankfully he knew the voice well.
"O-o-o-oh hey All Might when did you get here? Is this room hot to you?"
"Well one, I got here before everyone else four hours ago, and two," he walked up and placed his hands on his surrogate son's shoulders, giving him a reassuring grin, "Breaaaaaaaaathhhhe youn-…Midoriya, breeeeeeaaaaattttthhhhheeeeeeee."
"O-o-o-kay…breaaathheeee," Izuku inhaled, and slowly exhaled, "Breathe."
"Good lad, I'm guessing you're nervous," he asked as they sat down in two nearby chairs, in the nearly vacant groom's room.
"If I'm being honest, completely."
"That's understandable, it's a big leap forward for you."
"It is, and I'm just worried that something is gonna go wrong…"
"You've planned this with your mother for a few months now."
"Which would've been a waist if Mei didn't say yes."
"But she didn't, and now here we are, so I'd just push that thought out your mind, it'll just be unnecessary anxiety otherwise."
"But what if she changes her mind?"
"She won't."
"She won't but what if."
"Youn-…Midoriya, look at me," the skeleton looking man placed a hand on Izuku's still messy green hair, turning it to face him, "She ADORES you, she isn't going to change her mind."
"Y-y-you're sure?"
"Completely, now stay calm."
"I'll try."
"Atta boy."
"Thank you All Might…I feel a little bad though."
"Whys that?"
"Because I shouldn't doubt her, irrational or not."
"My boy it's just nerves, she knows as well as you do that you can trust each other whole-heartedly for the rest of your lives, nothing valid to worry about at all, well, other than your mother who could flood the church or pass out."
"DID SHE PASS OUT!?"
"Kidding! I'm kidding, sorry."
"Oh, *shew*, sorry All Might."
"Don't worry about it youn-…Midoriya."
"…"
"…"
"All Might?"
"Hm?"
"Why don't you call me 'young' Midoriya anymore?"
"…"
"I-I know it should be the furthest thing on my mind right now, but ever since graduation a couple months back, you don't call me that anymore, and I just…did I do something wrong?"
"…N-no, no my boy you've done very well, in fact, you've been doing well for as long as I can remember."
'I-I wouldn't say I've done THAT well,' Izuku thought as he rubbed his right arm.
"You have had some missteps, but we all do at some point or another in life, but the most valuable trait in times like those is the ability to pick yourself back up and surge forward no matter the cost. Something I've found that you have in spades."
"…I owe you for that to."
"…No, you don't."
"What do you mean?"
"What I mean is, before UA, before your battles, before your losses, before me, before One for All even, you always had the ability to shake off your insecurities, to stand defiant when the world, and even I, doubted the dream of a quirkless boy to be a hero, and even after all that your first instinct was to save someone even if it meant you would die, and that had nothing to do with me as even I was helpless," the blonde man contradicted his serious tone with a small laugh, "Why am I even recapping this to you, you were there."
"N-no, it's fine," Midoriya wiped some on coming tears with his sleeve, "G-go on."
"…What I'm trying to say is, even if you had never received my power, you were always going to be a true hero my boy, a hero that I can say I've had the fortune of seeing grow up before my very eyes. I couldn't be prouder of the person you are, and the symbol of peace you will become. That's, honestly why I don't call you 'young Midoriya' anymore, you're a man now, and a fine one at that, whose going to make that girl very happy this day and the rest of your days, of that and like usual of whatever you set your mind to, I have no doubts you'll do extraordinary."
"…" Midoriya's eyes welled up more than before, not letting the dam burst since odds are his mother would in fact do that later all by herself, "I-i-i-I'm still not good at holding the tears back though."
"Hehe, today of all days, I think that's warranted."
"T-t-true," a stream of tears ran down his face, "B-b-but one thing."
"Hm?"
Before he even had a second to react, Midoriya wrapped his arms around the former number one, burying his face into his shoulder, causing All Might's eyes to widen in shock from the surprise, "Whoa okay."
"All Might," he sobbed, "Thank you."
"It's alright my boy," he followed suit, hugging the young man back; although not quite as tight, "Everyone needs a pep talk before their big day."
"N-n-n-not just that."
"Huh?"
"…I may have had the spirit of hero, but you gave me the chance that no one else did, believed in me when no one else did, you made me the hero I am because you taught me everything I needed to know, stood by every step of the way, and even now you're still looking out for me, I couldn't picture the life I have now without you, I never would've met my wife without you, and…I never would've believed in myself without you. So, even if you disagree, I owe everything to you All Might, you'll always be the greatest hero in the world to me, and the greatest dad I could've asked for."
"…"
"*sniffle* *sniffle* I mean it."
"…"
"…"
"…"
"All…Might?"
…
…
"*sniffle* *sniffle*."
"Hm?"
"WUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH," All Might cried, a wave of tears shooting out his eyes and flooding the room drowning almost every piece of furniture, "UUUUUUUUUUAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGHHHH NO KID YOU'RE THE BEEEEESSST WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA *breathe*… AAAAAAAGGGGGHHHHHHHH!"
"NO ALL MIGHT YOU ARE!"
"NO YOU ARE!"
"NO YOU ARE!"
"AGREE TO DISAGREE!"
"AGREE TO DISAGREE!"
"WUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH," the father and son cried in unison, filling the entire room with water, the crying so loud that it started attracting some attention from everyone present.
"The hells going on in there," Aizawa asked, dressed in his own tux but still in his trademark sleeping bag.
"It sounds like they've sprained their ankles," Present Mic replied sitting next to his best friend.
"Yes because they'll definitely sprain their ankles at a wedding," Aizawa rolled his eyes.
"Hey man you never know."
"He's right," Nezu popped out of Aizawa's scarf, "You know what they say, what can go wrong will go wrong."
"…Why are you in my scarf at my student's wedding?"
"It's warm in here."
"That still doesn't answer my question."
"I'll answer it with another one, how did you not notice until now?"
"…"
"Exactly, speaking of where's Gran Tornio, I thought he'd be here for sure."
"Oh, I think I just saw him go towards the groom's room," Mic explained pointing both hands bombastically, "I think he's going to check on his boys!"
"Aw that's sweet of him."
…
"…AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
"The hell," Aizawa asked looking toward the right of the church, feeling a sharp vibration throughout the room along with everyone else.
"Is it a villain," Momo asked with concern.
"Could just be a random earthquake Momo," Shoto replied to his date.
"My how unlucky, to have an earthquake on your wedding day," Iida did his usual chopping motion.
"I hope there isn't an earthquake on ours," Uraraka clutched Iida's arm.
"Uraraka we haven't told anyone about that yet!"
"Oops, sorry Tenya."
"Everyone's getting married but meeeeee," Mina whined, sobbing into her dress, making Kirishima feel a little bad that he hadn't popped the question yet.
"Same girl," Toru patted her shoulder.
"Hey Jiro, can you tell what it is with your super hearing," Kirishima asked.
"A migraine and a lot of crying," Jiro explained.
"Best way to describe this whole event," Bakugo scoffed.
"You're just saying that because you're jealous," Kaminari teased.
"At least I could get a woman."
"…Your words hurt ya know," Kaminari sobbed into his tux.
"Hey don't lose hope Jamming Yay," Mirio flashed him a grin and a thumbs up, "You'll find somebody."
"*sniffle* Thank you Lemillion!"
"Hehe!"
"Hey look it's Gran Torino," Tamaki pointed out to Mirio, or at least tried to with his beloved Nejire asleep on his arm, "Wonder why he's running?"
"RUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!"
The old man shouted as a massive wave of water chased after him, everyone in the church screaming and holding each other for dear life as the rushing wave crashed over and carried them all.
"Help somebody I can't swim," Mineta shouted, "Preferably a hot life guard!"
"I would drown you again but I think nature will do it for me, ribbit."
"Inko quit adding to the water," Mitski Bakugo shouted.
"MY BABY BOY'S GETTING MARRIED WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"
"Dark shadow help," Tokoyami cried, soon his quirk manifested and popped his head out of the rushing water.
"Nah dude you're on own!"
"Man this is a long church," Sero observed while Koda nodded.
"The pussy cats do not do well in water," Mandalay shouted while hugging Pixie-Bob.
"Hold on girl's," Tiger shouted as he held onto them and Ragdoll.
"You got it," Ragdoll smiled cheerfully, while gripping Kota tighter, who was just uncomfortable by all this.
"I'm honestly surprised we have a cameo in this story," Katsuma commented while being held up from the water by Shoji.
"Yeah I know right," Mahoro was in the same boat with Shoji.
"Hey me to," Mellissa Shield popped her head up from the water.
"Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee pool party," Eri shouted, holding her hands up in the air while sudo-surfing on Aizawa in his sleeping bag.
"It's not a pool party, Eri," Aizawa reached his hand up from the bag to pet his adopted daughter.
"And mass drowning sounds so much more appealing," Shinso joked, also surfing on his mentor.
"You kids will be the death of me."
"Hey at least we won't drown you," Eri laughed at Shinso's follow up.
"The night is still young."
"Hey that's my line," Midnight pouted.
"Be glad you even get a line unlike everyone in Class 1-B and the rest of the staff," Aizawa replied.
"Fair point."
Outside…
"Do you really think it's a good idea Gentle," the short red haired woman asked, dressed in an inconspicuous hat and trench coat, "Showing up to a hero's wedding when we're supposed to be on the lamb?"
"Nonsense La Brava, it is perfectly safe, Izuku Midoriya is a dear friend to us," the tall silvered haired man replied twirling his moustache; also in a inconspicuous hat and coat.
"Who also got us arrested."
"Not the point my dear, everyone should get congratulatory sentiment by friends and family on their wedding day, it is the most gentlemanly action one can perform!"
"I guess you're right."
"Exactly, now get the camera ready so that way we can make a nice wedding video for them."
"You got it Gentle!"
At that very moment the doors to the church slammed open as the oceanic wave carrying everyone in attendance poured out into the court yard, everyone was sent off in different directions, some were hanging from trees, others landed in bushes, hit the concrete wall surrounding the area, others found themselves a block down the street, it was absolute and utter chaos.
The waves dissipating at last, as everyone was allowed to catch their breaths.
…
"On second thought La Brava, let's just send them a card in the mail."
"Gotcha," the two then quickly dashed away from the scene.
"Ya know…I gotta say Midoriya," Aizawa spoke as he washed up to his former student, who was laying upside down against the wall, alongside All Might.
"Yes Mr. Aizawa," Izuku said exhaustingly, some water coming out of his mouth.
"Even when you've graduated you still find a way to make trouble."
"I guess something's never change then," Midoriya coughed.
"That they do not my boy," All Might patted his son on the back, preventing him from choking.
"Awwww Eri," Izuku's eyes started watering again, "You look so adorable in your flower girl dress!"
"Thank you, and also that water ride was really fun!"
"I bet it was," Izuku smiled, "Oh hey Shinso glad you could make it!"
"Well…" Shinso surveyed the damage, "At least someone's glad, congratulations by the way."
"Th-thank you."
"Is everyone alive," All Might yelled as he stood back up.
"FOR THE MOST PART..-ART," everyone replied, even the one's down the street.
"Great, that's good to hear!"
"Toshinori, I broke my hip," Gran Torino muttered, hanging from the tree above them by his boot.
"Recovery Girl is gonna have her work cut out for her," All Might sighed.
"Ya got that right," the school nurse groaned, also having landed in the same tree.
"Hell of a day today," Present Mic groaned, crushed under Aizawa's sleeping bag.
"I've never been so grateful to be running late," Ojiro grimaced as he had finally arrived to get his cameo in.
…
…
"DON'T WORRY GUY'S" Sato shouted as he dashed out of the entrance of the church, dry as a bone alongside Aoyama, "WE SAVED THE CAKE!"
"Wi," Aoyama flamboyantly held the massive cake over his head in triumph.
…
…
"Huh well that's good," Izuku smiled, still laying upside down like before.
*ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ* *ZZZZZZZZZZZ* *ZZZZZZ*
"Huh, surprised to see this thing still working after that," Izuku commented as he pulled out his phone, "Oh, It's Power Loader."
*Click*
"Hello?"
"Heya Midoriya."
"Hey Mr. Power Loader."
"Just call me Power Loader, anyway how's the wedding coming right now?"
"Uhhhh…. Swimmingly."
"Great, glad to hear it, anyway…there may be a tiny problem."
"Did she steal the desk?"
"No no, she tried though."
"Then what is it, she's not hurt is she!?"
"No, she's okay, for the most part."
"What does that mean?"
"Welp…old habits die hard."
30 Minutes Later…
Development Studio
"HeheheheheHA I knew this old baby was my Excalibur," Hatsume shouted as she patted her old desk, having finished a whopping three hundred babies she had in the back of her head, cluttering the once cleaned up lab, every corner filled with various mechanisms and devices, the only clean spot being the desk it all came from, even the teachers seat wasn't safe. The only thing visible was Loaders head, and right arm.
"God this baby was a fine piece of work and art, look at what you've accomplished today baby," Hatsume rubbed her arms all over the surface, kissing the cold metal without shame, getting lost in a trance as she celebrated her old tool, "Yeah that's right you're the best, yes you are, yes you are hehe!"
"*Sigh*…"
"Sorry Power Loader, but you can't keep the chief out of the kitchen ya know."
"Believe me…I know."
"Awwww, is someone getting soft again?"
"That, and the current amount of machinery crushing my spine."
"Whoops, hang on," Hatsume pulled out a grapple gun from her back pocket, shooting the claw at her mentor which gripped him tightly, nearly making him soil himself, as he is quickly ripped from the pile and became free at last.
"Th-thank you Hatsume," he said as he snapped his spine into place again.
"If you need a chiropractor, I'm pretty sure Izuku knows a good one."
"With all the bone damage, that wouldn't surprise me."
"Well at least he doesn't have to worry about that anymore," she breathed a sigh of relief.
"Because of you?"
"Because of me, and him, buuuuuuuuuuuuut mostly me," she smiled.
"I'm sure he's thrilled," Power Loader smiled, deciding to ignore the mess for now, cleanup can come some other day.
"Oh he is."
"Right, speaking of I think he's on his way right now."
"He is," she perked up even more, stars in her eyes, "Fantastic he can see all the work I've got done today, and maybe help me steal this desk."
"I don't see that happening…"
"Hmph! You say that, but I can convince him."
"I don't know," Izuku replied as he appeared in the doorway, still a bit wet having a dripped a bit of his water onto the floor, "It is still a crime sweetie."
"Oh come on live a little," Hatsume rushed her fiancé, wrapping him in a tight hug and him doing the same, "Hey baby."
"Hey."
"Uhhhh," she patted him over and over, hearing squish after squish as more water dripped, "Why're you wet?"
"It got a little emotional today."
"Ohhhhh did Inko look at tour wittle baby photos again?"
"N-no," he laughed, becoming a little flustered.
"Fountain?"
"No."
"Training with Kota?"
"N-n-no dear," he laughed again, "It was me and All Might."
"All Might?"
"Uh huh."
"I thought he was gonna be out of town until…"
"Uh huhhhhhh."
"Oh….oh my god…"
"Yep."
"Today was the wedding."
"On the money."
"TODAY, WAS THE WEDDING," Hatsume grabbed the sides of her head, gripping her long droopy pink hair in a panic, "OH MY GOD I ALMOST MISSED MY OWN WEDDING!? POWER LOADER HOW COULD YOU NOT TELL ME!?"
"W-w-well I uh-"
"OH MY GOD I MISSED MY OWN WEDDING!?"
"Hatsume, it's all right," Midoriya comforted her.
"Izuku," Mei started crying, ashamed of herself for letting this slip her mind, "I-I-I-I'm so sorry, I missed our wedding, I'm so so sorry oh my god, *sniffle* oh my god…"
"Hey," Izuku wrapped her in a hug again, placing his hand on the back of her head, "Hey hey hey shhhh shhh it's okay Mei, it's alright."
"No it's not," she muffled out, gripping her love tighter and tighter, "I'm the worst."
"No, you're not," he coursed her hair gently.
"Yes I am, okay I MISSED! OUR WEDDING! How do you not hate me?!"
"Because, you're everything to me Mei."
"Izuku…"
"You could miss a thousand weddings, and I'll just plan more and more until I'm old and grey, and I'll never once lose faith in you and me."
"…W-why," she asked, raising up to meet his soft and loving gaze, the same one she had become so reliant on over the past four years, to pick her up when things were bad, that carried her everyday through the failure, that she would now meet whenever she woke up and when she went to sleep, and would always be there when she needed it.
"Mei," he breathed out softly.
"Yeah?"
He pulled her close, and kissed her slowly, the two closing their eyes to take in the moment, holding it longer than they ever dared to in a public setting, a full minute and half passed before they parted it just as slow as they took it, nuzzling their foreheads against each other's.
"I think you already know," Midoriya smiled, wiping away her tears with his hands.
"…Yeah, I do."
"Besides, I wanna save that for after the wedding."
"If you say so."
"*Cough*."
The couple turned around to see Power Loader leaning awkwardly against the pile of devices.
"S-sorry Power Loader," Mei blushed as she apologized.
"Nah nah, just keep acting like I'm not here, you got me used to it anyway."
"Sorry for getting your floor wet to," Izuku rubbed the back of his head, blushing as well.
"Janitor's problem not mine."
"You're right, I'll be sure to apologize to him later about this."
"Eh, he don't mind, in all honesty this was one of his more tame cleanups."
"There have been worse messes in this lab…"
"Don't remind me Hatsume," Power Loader groaned.
"So what next," Mei asked her fiancé.
"Well wheres your dress?"
"Back at the house…"
"Sometimes I think you'd forget how to breathe if it wasn't vital," Midoriya chuckled.
"Mmmmmmmm yeah probably."
"You think we'd have time to run there and get you ready?"
"I mean maybe, how much time we got?"
"Uhhhhhh," Midoriya pulled out his phone, frowning at the digits, "About twenty or so minutes…"
"Oh crud."
"Yeah…well, don't worry about it we can always book the church again next week."
"Are you sure?"
"Of course, at least…I hope so anyway…"
"Oh for the love of pete," Power Loader walked up to the two, "Everybody already got dressed up and cleared their plans, the church will take forever to book again, you're already dressed up, you're already soaking wet, just get married here!"
"Wh-what," the two asked, surprised at the insinuation.
"Yeah, I said it, just get married here."
"Will the school board even be okay with that," Midoriya asked.
"Screw em, just do it."
"Yeah but getting someone out here to make it official would-"
"Hatsume…what do you think your dear old teacher does in his spare time?"
"…You, can marry us?"
"I am certified, been that way for about seven months now."
"Huh…d-did you plan this," Midoriya laughed as he titled his head at him.
"I felt like this may happen, and I figured why not?"
"Oh my god…Power Loader you are the best," Mei started crying again, loving her homeroom teacher even more as she hugged him tight.
"Consider it my wedding gift to you two, a marriage before a wedding you can call it," he said as he patted Mei on the back.
"I guess," Midoriya smiled at his love, the two then looking into each other's eyes, "What do ya say dear?"
"I'm down if you are!"
"G-great okay um, should we wait for everybody to get here?"
"That depends Midoriya," Power Loader said, "You wanna wait over an hour for everyone to dry off and get through traffic? Or do ya just wanna rip that band-aid off now, and do it again when everyone gets here."
"I vote number two," Mei smiled.
"Same here."
"Alrighty then uhhhhhhh, I guess get into position?"
Izuku and Mei joined hands, backing up a little to leave some space in-between them for the teacher, who quickly got in between them, and started the improvised ceremony.
"I think you guys just want me to skip the big grand part and get to the end?"
They nodded, not breaking eye contact with each other.
"Fine by me. Now, Izuku Midoriya, do you take this woman to be your lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold from this day onward in sickness and in health, till death do you part, for as long as you both shall live?"
"I do."
"Great be really awkward if you didn't. Now, Mei Hatsume, do you take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband to have and to hold from this day onward, in sickness and in health, till death do you part, for as long as you both shall live?"
"I do."
"Fantastic, now by the power's vested in me…by the world hero association, and a chapel I studied at for like eight months. I now pronounce you: husband and wife, you may-"
He didn't get the chance to finish, since they had been waiting to do this for about two years, they didn't need to hear the rest to get the go ahead. They kissed almost immediately, cementing their new lives forever, in the very school that brought them together in the first place, grateful for the sports festival where they first met, grateful for when Izuku walked into the development studio that fateful day, and finally, grateful that they were now husband and wife.
"I love you Mei."
"I love you to Izuku."
…
…
"*Sigh*"
"Hm, something wrong Power Loader?"
"No Hatsume…. screw it, take the desk."
"*Gasp* YYYYYYYAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYY, I GET MY DESK BACCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKK *GASP* AND IM MARRIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD" Mei yelled, picking her husband up and twirling him around the room, then down the hallway, and then outside.
"THANK YOU POWER LOADER," Izuku screamed down the hall, tears of joy in his eyes, before happily laughing at his wife.
"I swear…they better name a kid after me," Power sighed, looking over at the desk that would now be gone, a little piece of his favorite student now leaving him, his curiosity getting the better of him, wanting to know what she rubbed at the underside of the equipment, spying it instantly.
"Heh, crazy kids," he breathed, as he stood back up.
It was a metal carving of a heart, with a list of things that Hatsume cherished the most:
-Babies
-The Studio
-My Teacher Dad
And as you'd expect.
-Izuku Midoriya.
The End.
Author's Note: It's always tough to say goodbye.
I loved writing this story that changed my life for the better, and I owe everything to this tale...
As you can see by the fact that I typed nearly 10,000 words today for it, and I wouldn't trade that time for the world, for any of you for the world.
The Hero and The Inventor is special to me, in every way imageable, i got me to where I am, and where I will be in the future, im happy that I was able to entertain you all, make you laugh, warm your heart, and maybe cry a little, i'm glad that i was able to entertain at least one person, never expecting to entertain over 150, but that's just a testament to the dedication you have all given me and this story and by god I just hope I was able to bring it all home at the end.
Im sorry to make you all say goodbye, but, I'm just glad that i mean even made this far.
Heres to another two years, and beyond, I hope to see you all in the next one.
Thank you all.
To the readers, to the reviewers, to the supports, and to the one that stood by side through thick and thin, my beloved fiance.
I love you darling.
This ones for you.
