Chapter eleven:
With the plan in place the trio begin their motions to get the plan going.
The bell has rung and pretty much all of the orphans are in class.
Mello, and Near head towards Rodgers office while Matt hangs back around the corner.
Mello moves to the other side of the doorframe while Near stays on the side that they came towards. He looks to the other and pats his shirt confirming that he has what he needs all ready. He sees that Near does the same so the two nod to each other.
Together the two of them turn to the door and Near presses an ear against it.
Near moves his head away from the door to nod to confirm that he hears someone inside.
The two open the door stepping inside and Rodger looks up from his computer in shock as they walk in.
"Aren't you two supposed to be in class?" Rodger questions as Mello turns to close then lock the door that they had come through. "What are you doing inside of my office?"
Near leans against Rodgers desk by the right corner and Mello comes to stand in front of the desk.
Rodger looks from Mello to Near then back to Mello as he tries to figure out what in the world is going on with the two who haven't responded to his questions at all. "I demand that you answer me!" He sits up tall with a demanding glare at the two who stare back at him. He starts thinking that maybe he should send them to the buyers next because he really doesn't want them trying to figure out anything.
"You don't even need to bother." Near warns him causing him to turn in slight confusion. His face is very serious and doesn't give away anything else. "We know what you have been up to." He informs the older man whose eyes widen a little. "And we want to know the location of where you have sent those you have sent away."
Rodger is quick to try to calm himself down and regain control on his emotions. He gives Near a look of confusion. "I don't know what you are talking about. Sent who away? What have the two of you gotten into your heads?" He stares into Near's stormy grey eyes who keeps his serious look on his face. He hears a click and turns his attention to Mello only for his eyes to widen once more.
Mello is standing there with a gun in one hand and his other hand is ready to grab a knife he has sticking out of his waistband. He has clicked the safety off with the barrel of the black pistol aimed right at his head. He did make sure that it wasn't close enough that Rodger could easily grab it but he clearly knows how to aim. "Don't play games with us. We know what you have been doing. And we know more than you think." His eyes narrow looking like an icy glare that shoots a chill down his spine. "We decided to give you a chance to tell us where those you have exchanged money for. I suggest that you take this opportunity."
"This is absurd!" Rodger slams his fists down onto the wood surface of his desk. "Mello, I don't know where you got that gun but I demand that you drop it or give it to me. It is not safe. And you both can stop with these allegations." As soon as he had finished those words there is a sudden bang from where Near is that makes Rodger jump. He quickly turns to look to the other with wide shocked eyes.
Near has slammed the top tip of a butchers knife that looks like a cleaver into the desk. He easily removes it from the desk despite that it seems to have gone in a good way in. "This is your last chance to stop with all of this bullshit and tell us what we want to know. I also want you to know that we do have other ways getting this information. Perhaps if you save us the trouble and tell us where you had sold them off to, then perhaps there will be just a small bit of leniency on the consequences that you will face."
Rodger looks from Near then to Mello and realizes how serious they are. "I am going to call Watari and explain your behaviour." He picks up his phone secretly calling one of those that he sells the orphans too. His hope is that he can get them to get in here and take these two away. Then he doesn't have to worry about them as they'd be taken care of. He freezes as the phone answers to Matt's laughter.
"Nice try." Matt says over the phone to Rodger. "You think that they did this alone? I've already tapped into your phonelines as well as your computer. Any call or text, or any other type of message I can block it before it reaches anyone else." He chuckles softly to himself feeling proud of his accomplishments before turning serious. "Now. We are giving you a chance to make your case look better when you are taken into custody. I know that my teammates have already asked you to tell you where you have sold the orphans to. And I would suggest that you answer them. I know from seeing what they are capable of, that you would not like them if you anger them or push them too far."
Rodger's face changes to horror as he truly realizes that they do indeed know a lot more than he had been hoping that they did. He ends the call putting the phone down onto his desk. He lets out a heavy sigh and rubs the bridge of his nose with his thumb and pointer finger. "Okay. Look I can only tell you so much." He knows that he is truly trapped and he has no choice but to come clean to them. "I just get a group to pick them up after they confirm who it is out of the options that I gave them that they want. They take them away then send someone to give me the money that was agreed upon. That's it. I don't care enough to even pay attention if they ever told me where they were going. Okay?"
Mello and Near glance to each other then Mello brings a hand to his ear.
"Matt. Call them in. We've got what we can get for now from him."
"Who is them?" Rodger questions yet receives no answer from the two.
