Adam was sent backwards by the Undying Mind. The Dominus of the Red Legion looked behind him.
"The second he dies, we win." Adam stated as he looked to his men who were busy fighting.
Adam rolled out of the side of a barrage from the Hydra. He opened fire at the hulking Vex machine.
"We need to rip the Vex out of here." Adam muttered while he cracked his fingers and rolled out of the way.
His men continued battling Vex. A Gladiator impaled a Goblin on his Severus, a Legionary blasted a smoking hole into a Minotaur. Ca'uor raised his magma launcher and thumbed the trigger.
A glob of magma exploded from the muzzle, splashing the Undying Mind with the flame like liquid.
The Vex unit screeched in pain and turned to look at the Red Legion Captain.
"I didn't expect the Vex to put up such resistance!" Ca'uor yelled as he crushed a wandering Goblin in his hand.
"I warned you they wouldn't go down easily!" Adam yelled as he opened fire. Half of his magazine vanished into the shields of the Vex. "Damn it! This thing is harder to kill then the last 3 Vex I killed to destroy this place." Adam stated and dropped the magazine to the ground.
The Undying Mind rose up, bullet holes pockmarking its metallic shell. Magma dripped off, melting some of its shell but causing nothing more than burns. The Vex looked over them like a robotic viper ready to strike.
"We can kill one more." Ca'uor stated as Adam reloaded his weapon. "I'm sure you can finish him off." Ca'uor put in while Adam nodded.
"If I can get close enough to batter its core apart." Adam said and put his rifle on his back.
Adam knew for a fact that he could shatter the armor with enough force. Vex were powerful, but they lacked power in combat at close range. It was why Adam was confident in defeating the machine.
"Did you plan on getting this far?" Prime asked Adam who ducked under another barrage of gunfire.
"Yes." Adam put in and cracked his neck. "I just didn't expect it to be this difficult." Adam put in as he prepared for another attack.
He looked at the Vex which shrieked and chortled as Adam peppered it with gunfire. The bullets punched holes in the alien metal but didn't strike it down. Adam sighed and rolled out of the way only for a blast to strike at his feet.
Adam was sent rolling down the stairs with annoyance. Adam growled and cracked his back as he sighed with annoyance. Adam slowly rose to his feet.
Adam backed down the stairs, emptying his magazine into the massive Vex as he slowly stepped down the steps while sighing with annoyance.
Adam cursed before he dropped another clip and loaded another in.
"Ca'uor?" Adam questioned as he continued to battle the Vex command unit. "I need you to melt more of its armor!" Adam put in and cracked his neck.
"I am a little busy, my liege!" Adam put in as he opened fire on the waves of Vex who were trying to breech the shield wall their men had set up.
"Then just keep the Vex off me!" Adam ordered and threw himself backwards while trying to buy time to draw his shotgun.
The Hydra continued to fire at him while more Vex moved in. Adam sighed with annoyance.
He decided to attack the Hydra more aggressively. If too many Vex troops entered the battlefield? Then it would be fruitless to destroy their leader.
Adam summoned his light and charged the Hydra. It shrieked out a command which made the Goblins fire. A glowing hammer formed in his left fist.
Adam charged through the barrage of gunfire. He smashed one Goblin's head into scrap, then turned and punched through another.
The Hydra fired at him only for Adam to dodge, making the Hydra vaporize its own men. Adam spun the war hammer through his fingers as he charged forward.
He leapt over a blast of fire which washed over his armor as he slammed the glowing weapon into the Hydra. It shattered a piece of its armor.
Ca'uor watched as Adam vaulted onto the hulking machine and battered away at its armor. Each hit of his hammer smashed more and more of its armor.
The massive Vex roared and swung around, trying to knock him down. Adam smashed at the holes in its armor that had formed. Smoke and the Vex's life giving fluids poured out of the machine as Adam drove his hammer into the hull of the machine.
The Vex finally managed to throw Adam from its hull as he slid along the ground. Adam groaned and looked up at the Vex before it collapsed over the edge, smoke billowing from its wounds as it exploded in midair.
Every Vex unit blinked as their systems started to overload and they collapsed into puddles of scrap.
Adam panted in exhaustion as he looked around at the Vex.
The Cabal claimed a victory over their enemy today… But the war with them as a whole wasn't finished yet.
"That was… Easier then I expected." Ca'uor stated to Adam who allowed his light to leave him. He wondered what the Vex would do without the Black Garden.
It would no doubt make them more aggressive.
"We should return to the Immortal and discuss the next move." Adam ordered as he turned around.

Phew. Another chapter done! I want to point out that Adam's plans are more grand scale and will be revealed in time. Next chapter will be 1200 words or so and will show Adam in a war meeting outlining his plans to the Cabal and his Red Legion. Until then, Lighting Wolf out!
