AN, this chapter may be short but this chapter is the first character building chapter, this one is building the romance between Wolf 4/Spartan Austin-113 and Ashley

Wolf Effect

Ch 25. Escape

Location: Halo, tunnel

Prime's POV

I was shooting at the flood combat form of a Turian with my shotgun before they got too close as myself & the others as we were running towards Halo's control room

I wasn't sure why we were running there but from my guess the Flood are trying to turn us

But one of them had a sniper & shot Ashley through her leg as she nearly tripped but I wasn't going to let those fuckers get anyone here so I holstered my shotgun then I picked Ashley up in a bridal style as I looked at her "Keep shooting, I'll carry you"

I only saw a nod as I carried her with the group & I was seeing Anthony with his energy swords out as he was cutting the flood to bits & pieces yelling "You'll not escape this place while o still breath!" He sliced apart a Asari combat form which was basically just like the human one except this one could use biotics but the flood wasn't fast enough to learn it before Anthony cut it into pieces

I saw Spark & Halsey staying close to Red team as Halsey held up her pistol & fired a precision shot at one of the combat forms causing it to stop & drop but she had to get a good amount of time before she can fire again because she didn't get the military training like us

Spark was helping her & Red team out as he fired his fucking laser killing either any flood that got too close as well or he fired at the ones that seemed like the biggest threat while Red team was covering them

Wrex & Shepard had their shotguns out nailing any of the combat forms who were dumb enough to get close but all of us were moving quickly so Anthony was up from, Wrex was in the back along with Shepard while everyone else was in the middle

I went ahead & shouted to Spark or Anthony "Where the hell are we going?!" I was hoping we weren't going to the control room

Anthony replied "Control room! That's where they'll be at & since we got Spark here then he could help get us out!" He said this as he changed his swords to the plasma rifles & fired at a stalker that was about to jump me & Ashley

We continued running as we reached the door & Shepard said "Now what?!" She tossed a grenade & killed about a few flood forms

I could see that the door was shut but if I could I would use my sword to open it but then that would mean the flood would easily get in, I then saw Sparks but realized that he may not have authorization to access any of the systems here or something

But then I saw the door open for us with Liara yelling "HURRY!" Myself while carrying Ashley went in first as I set her down then laid down a suppressive fire as Wrex, Shepard, Halsey, & Spark came in next then Red team came through until finally Anthony jumped through & the door slid shut

We were all panting because of the heavy fight we had to get through but there was no way that we would run through there to Tony's group in one piece or uninfected as I then saw Kaiser & the rest of his group come walking up to us as he said "Lucky we found you guys quickly or we would have to add you guys to the casualties"

Anthony nodded then said "What happened?"

Ruby answered that question "Well from what Liara & me were able to see apparently the Council's Spectre & her team went ahead & open up containment but if they didn't keep the Sentinels busy daily then we wouldn't have this problem but sadly we do thanks to them"

Liara frown but added "But one of your friends did say there was a way to get out of here & back to the ship almost the same way how you were transported to-"

I finished that answer for her "-The control room on the first halo!"

Ashley went ahead & asked "What are you talking about?"

The Rookie answered that question "Basically their talking about teleportation & this ring can do that as long as it's in range & able to teleport us to or close enough to the Normandy"

Wrex said "Well if it's so simple then why didn't you do it?" He was probably a little anxious to leave like everyone else but I could guess what the problem was

Kaiser replied "We don't have a monitor & who ever was the monitor here either abandoned their station or was destroyed by who or whatever got to them"

Spark said "Then it will be my job to help get everyone to the ships quickly" he floated over to the console & fired his blue laser which I think is to either repair or work on it to get us out of here

Everyone decided to take a bit of a break while 343 Guilty Spark was working, I saw that Anthony got tackled by the Promethean's & I gotta say it was funny

I turned my head to look at Ashley as she was applying medi-gel to her wound she then said "What is it?"

I replied "Well I just wanted to know if you were ok?"

Ashley she leaned up against the wall then said "This is why I don't like aliens"

I sat down next to her & said "Well why is that?"

She looked at me then said "Because of our first contact with the Turians & how my great grandfather surrendered instead of fighting made my whole family's military career difficult"

I knew that was the problem but I played dumb so Anthony can be happy but I replied "Well I had my own war which lasted for 30 years, think about it he chose the choice that saved the lives of his men & the Turians actually respected him for it including any military commander who knew that scenario would of ended with a lot of casualties"

She looked at me like she wanted to retort but didn't almost like she was actually realizing that I was right & I continued "So anyone who still had scars from the war would say he was a coward but your generation would say otherwise, I know the UNSC would accept that act if the covenant were that less religious & weren't trying to eradicate our whole race"

She sighed then leaned her head onto my shoulder then asked "You don't really seem like the super soldier like everyone else, but in situations like the flood & Covenant then the Didact your completely different, so do you have a story or is it classified?"

I sighed knowing this was gonna come up & since we have plenty of time I decided that now was better then nothing as I took a deep breath & started telling her my story "I used to have a family but I was taken by ONI to become a Spartan I am today while they replaced me with a clone that would die before going to college... years later I found my brother who was the leader of the 182nd ODST legion, it was basically a simple rescue mission on earth in my hometown but when I found him... I fought along side him & his soldiers against the Covenant..."

I noticed that she was listening to me but I had to continue because this is important "We found some civilians & a Field marshal was in the way so I took care of him while my brother got the civilians out, next thing I knew a civilian got a weapon off of a dead marine & used it only to get killed by the Field marshal... but that didn't happened because my brother used himself as a shield to take the hits then after that everything seemed to stop... he fell to the ground dead & soon I killed the bastard that killed my brother & when I got to him..."

I was fighting hard to not show any tears as I tried to continue "He was gone... I couldn't do anything except just held my oldest brother... later we were at a memorial & I placed his helmet & sent his dog tags to our family personally... after the war it was a train wreck after train wreck where just about everyone that was under his command, our mother & farther disappeared & all that was left was me, my other brother, my three sisters & a few cousins but after all that we were barely holding together & the worst part of it all... they never knew who I was noir did my brother before he died..."

I looked down to the ground just barely keeping it together then I felt her hand on my back which I could guess was that she was trying to calm me down which I guess worked but then I saw Wrex call out "Everyone! You may want to take a look at this!"

As soon as he said that everyone got up & I helped carry Ash as she got up & once we joined everyone I saw what Wrex wanted us to see as I saw 4 Spartans in Cyro as my eyes widen "Oh my god..."

Shepard asked "Wrex how did you find this?" She looked at him as he just shrugs

I looked at Anthony knowing that he was also shocked along with the rest of Wolfpack that was present as Ashley asked "Austin who are they?"

I only told them this "Achilles... they are my team"

AN, if your wondering who Fireteam Achilles is my character Spartan-113's fireteam of Spartan IV's when Wolfpack were given their own fireteams onboard the Infinity as an idea to see how Spartan IV's would handle being under the leadership of a Spartan II
