This one shot plays after the season 2 episode „Last Dance"
In my AU Season 2's School year is the last school year before changing to middle school, and with my extremely complex calculation this makes them 13. (don't ask me how that school system's working okay this took me ages) anyway- Have fun

Finally the feathers grew back. Harpy sighed in relief she had feared she wouldn't change back this time. She had hidden in the bathroom stalls since the dance had started. Two full hours. Not a full day, like it had happened Saturday. It seemed like that Medicine had worked, well this situation proved that it obviously didn't.
She stepped out and looked at herself in the mirror. She shook one of her wings and a last feather grew out. From outside she could hear the music, for being one whole story underneath it was damn loud. The monster mash ball must be a blast, literally. She actually had hoped to get to dance with Ra, but one.she had noticed the skeleton twins shooting their shot and, well this whole mess.
Carefully she left the bathroom. She'd probably just go back to the dorms, now she wouldn't have to fear meeting someone there. She was tired, that curse was tireing. The princess had to walk one story up to get to the dorm.
She was ready to move when someone crushed into her. Both of them fell onto the ground. „Ah sorry" Harpy flinched as she looked up. It was Ra. What was he doing here? The ball was far from over. „Are you okay he asked. She nodded quickly. „Sorry I was in thoughts." she stuttered as he helped her up.
Learning a new language had been hard but as soon as she learned to understand everyone around her it wasn't as hard. „Why aren't you at the ball?" she asked as he stroke down the dust from his clothes. „It's pretty boring. Casp left me hanging." he explained and before she could ask what that was supposed to mean he asked her. „But where have you been? Haven't seen you all night."
Harpy hid her mouth behind her wing, to hide her lying. „I had some family issues." she muttered. „But we're fixed them." she added quickly. „Good." Ra smiled and scratched the back of his head.
Neither of them said something. Harpy decided to take the initiative and say something. „So-" both of them started talking at the same time. She sighed in embarrassment. „Uhm you want to hang out, like at the docs or something?" Ra asked. And today wasn't even her birthday. „Yes I'd love to." she answered.
Ra's evening seemed quite adventurous. „Magic shoes?" Harpy giggled. „Yeah but Mantha was head over heels for that guy from the beginning." He explained as he lifted the plank that connected the jetty to Cappy's ship.
The plank landed heavily on both the ship and the ground, but it was adjusted well, so it wouldn't fall. „Ladies first." he joked. Harpy smiled and walked over the plank and climbed onto the ship. Ra followed her.
„Remember last year?" he asked. „Of course I remember, Ball King." she giggled. They sat down on the top part of the ships nose. „I sometimes still feel the spot where you stepped on my foot."
„And I still hear your whining."
Both laughed. The prince looked at the sky.
„Thanks for still going with me, even though I was, you know-"
„Mean?" Harpy interrupted.
„I wouldn't say mean-" Ra mumbled
„I would." she snickered.
„Okay yeah, but I apologized, and it was a very good apology if I can say so." The mummy insisted. Harpy smiled: „Always."
The prince seemed pretty serious now, for his standards. No goof, no joke. „My parents were very happy about that you know." he explained. Harpy knew exactly what he meant. Ra had told her, when he apologized back then, about his parents wish, which made it a whole lot easier to forgive him. Much like Ra's parents her mother was overly invested in her private life. She would have lied if that whole ball thing hadn't been a big deal for her mother as well, especially after she found out about Ra beeing her dance partner.
It was now a little quiet. Both of them understood what the other one felt in this exact moment. This pressure. „And were you happy that day?" Harpy asked then. „That's the most important part." she added.
„Of course I was, but not gonna lie I wasn't as calm as I seemed to be. When we thought we lost against Thatch I was a hardcore panicking. „You're good liar then." Harpy realized. „It wasn't lying, I was acting. I noticed how disappointed you were." he now seemed like he was joking again. „Oh trust me I was." Harpy huffed. „Who knew what your parents would have done to me, or my mom." she shivered. Ra laughed. „Who knows." he joked.
Harpy looked her friend. „What about today?" Show asked. „No crown no interest in the dance." Ra shrugged. „Who was your date?" she asked and immediately chocked on her own words. She didn't want to seem jealous. „Oh I didn't have one, not an official one at least. I needed to distract Mickey and Monaco if that counts." Harpy laughed. „I don't know seems a little forced. Then on the other hand-" „Hey, hey quit the slander will ya? What about you, who was your date huh?"
„I didn't have one."
The prince gasped. „You didn't?" he asked. „No, no one asked me." she explained. „Now I'm disappointed in both the guys and you."
„Why me?" she huffed.
„Because you didn't ask anyone yourself." he judged.
„I'm not into rejection." Harpy stretched her tangling legs and looked down at them.
„Oh come on." Ra rolled his eyes.
„Name a guys who would have gone to the ball with me. I'll wait." she joked.
„I would have." he insisted.
Harpy flinched. Did he just- Quick give an answer. „R-really?" she asked. „Of course. we're a good duo." The mummy looked at his feet tangling over the black water. „Well then why didn't you ask me?" She was a little disappointed.
„I wanted to." he explained. „But everytime I wanted to talk to you, you were gone or didn't have time to talk." Harpy cussed inside of her head. Stupid curse. „I'm sorry, family stuff." she muttered now. „Nah it's cool, I'm just glad you didn't just show up with another dude." he answered. „Someone who wouldn't complement your skills, the way you deserve it." he added quickly. Was he nervous?
Now it was quiet but it wasn't weird. They just enjoyed the wind pushing the water gently forward. „You know there's probably a dance next year, and I mean since you seem very hard to catch I'll just ask right now." Ra started. „Harpy, will you be my date for the next silly school dance we'll have?" he asked.
Harpy blushed. Then she needed to laugh, Ra tried to seem serious and stiff but it was obvious he had problems to keep this formal additude. „Of course and you better help me win a crown." she joked and both laughed now. Ra seemed now way more relaxed.
At this point they continued joking about last year's dance and started wondering about next year which then slipped over to royal duties. Ra told from his embarrassing first speach and Harpy mentioned her the time she had hidden the traditional gown so she didn't have to wear it.
Many people thought Ra seemed over the top, especially Thatch and his friends. But she liked that. He may seemed silly but didn't that make him even cooler. He just didn't care and that made him way cooler than Thatch or the other guys she was sharing a lunch table with.
The red moon has reached his highest point when she noticed Ra's hand moving closer. Now she was excited should she do the same? What if she'd be wrong? She didn't want to em-
„Ra." The janitor muttered behind them. Both of them screamed in shock. Both because of the sudden noise and also because of being spotted. „Your parents are on the crystal ball. They want to talk to you. Right now, they said." the janitor yawned. „Uhm yeah- I'll- Uhm-"
Harpy flinched. Ra gave her a short kiss on the cheek before he hurried back into school building. Did he just- „Isn't it like way past your bed time?" The janitor asked confused. Usually she would have just lied the janitor didn't really care but she was too shocked to lie right now. She just nodded and stumbled inside.
So she arrived at the dorms way later than she intended. Triclops was already sleeping. She layed down on the bed. Did this really happen or was this a dream. Maybe her destiny wasn't supposed to be all bad.
