Happy New Year! Hopefully this one goes better than the last one did. Have some Lucifer dealing with helping an Asexual man get away from his sexually aggressive/harassing girlfriend.
Adam - Asexuality
Two weeks after he found out his club knew that he truly was the Devil and not freaked out on him, like most people tended to do was...better. That first week, he had locked himself up in his flat and refused to interact with anyone that he paid to work for him, with the exception of Patrick.
Bless his main bartender's pure heart. He had slowly gotten Lucifer back into a mood set, with the help of Linda, of course, to start interacting with his workers again. Outside hours when the club was closed but they were in downtime and socialising mode. This was his first night back on the job.
It was a Wednesday night and Lucifer was playing slow jazz songs on the piano as couples and people getting together for business meetings or to catch up surrounded him.
The kitchens were open tonight, the dancers had their day off and his club was open for what he originally meant it as, a piano bar. His eyes closed as he began playing a request form one of the girls on a date. Romantic music was called for apparently, and he played whatever came to his mind. It wasn't a song anyone would know, just his mind playing things that came to his mind, but the people surrounding him didn't seem to mind at all.
He opened his eyes again when it became apparent that the woman's date wasn't going as planned for her. He turned to look over to where the two were as the argument they started having became more heated. It was enough for him to hear it over the piano and from a few tables over. He wondered if the humans in the other seats were picking up on it, because that could be very awkward for the both of them.
"Jess, I can't believe you are starting this here. While we're having dinner on a date in public!" the man the woman was with, Jess he supposed was a nickname, said loudly. Said man took a wild look around the club, noting he was looking in their direction and ducking his head back down.
He was blushing. That was cute. Or would be, if it wasn't for their subject matter.
"It's fine, Adam. No one around here cares. It's just sex. Everyone here always talks about it, does it and some make a show of it. That's one of the best things about Lux. How open it is about sexuality and sex."
The man, obviously Adam, shook his head. "Then why can't you take me for my word that I'm not interested in having sex with you?"
"We've been dating for two months now, don't you think it's about time you drop the act and we do it? Seriously, I'm getting so frustrated with this shit."
Adam stared at his so called girlfriend and shook his head. "I thought you said you were fine with me being asexual."
Jess leaned forwards and grabbed at Adam's hands and Lucifer frowned. Was she trying to goad him into saying yes into sex he doesn't want? He knew about asexuality. Given his club was indeed a place that accepted all sexual orientations, he had found out that included people that didn't feel sexual attraction to others. It personally made no sense to him, but he at least got that it existed.
Jess rolled her eyes at her date and Lucifer scowled. He wanted to get up and talk her down, but Adam didn't look like he wanted anyone interfering. He decided to let it play out unless he was needed to break things up.
He kept watching them, as Jess rubbed a hand over Adam's cheek. "Come on, I've been with guys who said that. In guys, it just means playing hard to get. It happens in shy guys and virgins, and you told me when we started dating you were both those things. I figured you'd warm up eventually."
Adam looked upset and shocked that she would say something like that. "No, I meant I am asexual. I don't feel sexual attraction at all, for anyone. I do romance though."
To his shock, Lucifer watched at Jess reared back and slapped Adam across the face. Something he had done nothing to deserve at all. He stopped playing and stood up, ready to walk over.
Adam seemed just as shocked as he was if the way he stared at her was anything to go by.
"Fucking bastard! Why are you so determined to ruin this? Selfish asshole!" she screamed, before he made it to the table.
"Excuse me, what exactly is going on here?" he asked, not wanting to show he had actually heard their argument. Humans tended to be pissed off when he overheard things he normally wouldn't hear if he were human.
As it was, everyone in the bar had heard that last line. People were looking at them like Adam had done something wrong. That made Lucifer uncomfortable in ways he didn't understand properly, but it reminded him of how Amenadiel used to look at him before his little stint in losing his powers.
"Excuse you, this has nothing to do with you!" Jess stated out loud to him, glaring at Adam.
"Oh with that I disagree. You just slapped someone in my club. I would like to know why."
She blinked up at him and started. "Oh, shit! I'm sorry. I didn't know it was you."
He smiled down at her, before turning that smile on Adam. "Considering she won't tell me what's going on, will you?"
Sighing, the young human man shook his head. "She didn't like that I don't like sex."
He frowned and looked confused. "But... you're on a date. You don't come to a place like this for a first date unless you know for sure you're getting something at the end. How long have the two of you been together?"
Jess looked extremely uncomfortable. "Shit! Look what you've done, Adam!"
Lucifer frowned at her. "He hasn't done anything wrong, and I would like to know why you would slap him and yell things that aren't true in the middle of my club."
Jess stood up. "The no sex thing is just a stupid game guys like him like to play to get out of having sex with women to make them not look bad when they last about two seconds before coming."
He got quiet and still at that, because it sounds like she had done this before. "Are you saying that asexuality isn't a thing if it's a man that's identifying as such?"
Jess nodded. "Yeah! There isn't a man alive that doesn't want sex."
And that was it, this woman didn't belong in his club. "I'm sorry, miss, but I'd like you to leave my club now."
She looked at him like he had just insulted her. "Excuse me? What did I do wrong?"
"For one, if someone doesn't want to have sex with you, then you should accept they don't want to have sex with you. For another, I don't like people shaming others for their sexuality, like you are doing to this young man here."
She looked like she had been slapped herself. "But... everyone knows that asexuality isn't actually a thing. Just an excuse to beg out of sex by prudes."
Adam looked close to crying now. Boy did he choose the wrong woman to date. Lucifer frowned. "Leave now, or I will have you escorted out by security."
She picked up her purse in a huff, turned to start walking out and glared at Adam. "Come on Adam, let's go. Maybe this night won't be a waste after all. We can go back to my place."
Adam stayed sitting at the table and shook his head. "No, Jess. I'm sorry, we're just not going to work out. I think I'll just... stay here and finish my dinner. If that's okay."
Adam looked to him and Lucifer smiled down at him. "Of course! Enjoy your dinner. I have no problem with you or asexual people being in my club. I am well known for accepting all sexual orientations, even if that orientation is no to sex."
For the first time during that night, Adam looked like he was going to relax. Then Jess came storming up to him, grabbed him by his arm and jerked him up from his seat at the table. "No, you're going home with me."
Lucifer frowned at that and gave the signal to get security over. He grabbed at one of Jess's shoulders to keep her in place and waited for his security team to arrive.
"Please escort this lady out. The man is free to stay, as he has done nothing wrong."
The two security guards on duty that night, took hold of one of her arms each and began walking her to the exit. Lucifer watched until she was gone and wouldn't be getting back in, before relaxing and turning back to Adam. "If you like, I will stay with you until you are safe at home so she doesn't try ambushing you outside. Trust me, her kind can and will do that to teach you a 'lesson'. I don't understand how people like that are allowed to make a scene. Come, sit back down, enjoy your dinner."
Lucifer took the seat where Jess used to be and looked down at what was left of her meal. It looked fine to him, but he did serve fine food. He waved over one of his waitresses and asked for a clean knife and fork, as it was considered rude to eat with the same cutlery as someone else. He had no problems eating the food, as she hadn't actually touched it with her hands or mouth so he deemed that fit enough for public consumption.
Adam took a few long seconds, before he took his seat back and begun playing with his food.
Lucifer leaned forwards and laid a hand on his partner for the night's hand. "It's okay. If you feel like staying longer to not run into her again if you can. I have plenty of rooms you can stay in. I rent out the whole building and have rooms for people needing to spend the night. This isn't a sex den, regardless of what your ex might have told you."
Adam sighed. "Yeah. And thanks for the save. I don't think she was going to take no for an answer, but I'll have to go home at some point and I am afraid she'll be there waiting for me."
Lucifer nodded. "Get one of those things which makes someone not allowed near you or they get arrested. I can't remember what they're called off the top of my head. But it'd definitely make her think twice about how she treats people."
"A restraining order?"
Lucifer grinned and nodded at him, before his waitress came and handed him the clean cutlery and took the dirty set away for the kitchen hands to clean.
After that, they lapsed into silence as they both ate the food in front of them.
It wasn't until after the plates were cleaned of food before he went back to the conversation, grinning at Adam widely as he let his intentions known. "You know, I work as a consultant with the LAPD. I could easily get you in for a restraining order if needed. I can't sign one for you, as I am not actually a police officer, but I have friends who could do it for you. I can call my partner over to get one ready if you like."
With that he pulled out his phone, ready to call Chloe to tell her what was going on, but was stopped by a hand on his wrist.
"Not right now. I just want to see if she's lurking around at my house first. If she is then I will come back here and you can call your friends with the police."
Nodding and accepting that as an answer, he got up and held out his hand. "Would you like an escort home, or do you wish for me to call you a taxi and explain the situation."
Adam stared at his hand, before shaking his head. "I'll take the taxi please."
Nodding, Lucifer used the phone to call for a taxi.
He stuck by Adam's side as he saw Jess hanging around outside the club, looking to get her hands on her now ex boyfriend. He gave Adam his number and told him to call if she showed at his home, before bundling him in the taxi and watched as he went on his way.
Thankfully, or not as the case may be, Adam didn't call for the rest of the night, even after Jess had slunk her way off to parts unknown. He hoped that Adam didn't become a nasty statistic in a world full of them.
