In a few days, I was able to finally move into my own apartment. I asked Kitty to help me out with cooking so I could become better at it which she did give me some amazing tips and advice. She also gave me a few of her old cookbooks that she haven't used in a long time. I was very thankful for her cooking skills that she passed onto me so I could make my own meals for the boys and my son.

When it was officially moving day, we had all packed our things with our friend's help and used Michael's van to transport it to the apartment. The guys carried the boxes and I felt useless because neither Michael or Steven would allow me to lift any heavy boxes so I won't 'overexert myself'.

Steven and I said our goodbyes to Kitty and Red and neither of us wanted to make it emotional. Because I knew I'd cry if someone did make a big deal out of it. We all knew who would be the one to cry and it'd be Kitty anyway.

"Thank you so much for everything that you've done for us," I said gratefully to them in the driveway as our suitcases and duffle bags was being put into Michael's van. "You've brought us into your home and treated us like family."

"Better than your own family..." Eric had sourly grumbled as he carried a box to the van. Red glared at him, but I just ignored him.

"You guys were like parents to us. Better than our own. So, anyway, just thank you. For everything." I lamely finished and hugged Red and then Kitty.

"We'll miss you and Steven," She started to get teary eyed and I tried not to keep mine at bay. "If you ever need help with the baby once he's born, please don't hesitate to call us," Then her eyes lit up. "Even if you want us to babysit-"

"Don't call us for that," Red interrupted and his wife gave him a look. "What? It's a boy! That's like having another Kelso!"

"Yeah, don't remind me." Steven grunted and hugged Kitty first and then had a 'guy hug' with Red.

After our goodbyes, Michael drove me, Steven, and Jackie to our new apartment. She still lived at Donna's, but wanted to see the place. Once the four of us got there, we moved everything in. I'll worry about decorating it later. We were just exhausted from the long day, especially me.

"Look at this! Our first home! We're officially adults!" Michael said looking around in admiration as he stood in the living room.

"This doesn't look that bad, I guess," Jackie shrugged. "With some of my touches here and there, it'll look a lot better."

"Yours?" I turned to her with my arms crossed over my pregnant belly. "You don't live here and this is not your apartment."

"But this place is also mine because Steven lives here too who is my boyfriend!" She argued.

"Well, I'm going to decorate it how I want to," I retorted. "I don't want any of your frilly stuff."

Jackie scowled at me, but I wasn't scared of her. Then Michael came in between us.

"Ladies, let us not fight over small stuff, okay? There's way more important things like this..."

For some reason, he got on one knee as if he was about to propose and grabbed my hand. I had no idea what was happening and looked at Steven and Jackie if they secretly knew. But they were just as greatly stunned as me.

"Rachel Louise Hyde, will you marry-"

"Get up!" I hissed at Michael and he immediately did looking a bit ashamed. "What exactly are you thinking?"

"Thinking isn't one of his strong suits, Rach, you should know that by now." Steven said.

"I just thought we should get married," Michael answered. "We already bought a place and we're living together and dating. And we're having a baby on the way so us getting married seems the right thing to do and what's left!"

"Michael, we've been dating for not even one year and I just don't want us to get married because of the baby!" I reasoned and had to calm myself down because of how disappointed he looks. "You understand that, don't you? It's just not time. We haven't been together that long and the baby's not even born so who knows where that'll take us?"

"I understand..." He said softly and I gave him a kiss on his lips.

"I still love you. I just don't think we're ready for marriage right now. Okay?" Michael nodded and focused on everyone. "Um, I'm going to take a nap cause I'm exhausted."

"You don't want to christen anything yet?" He asked hopefully and I chuckled, shaking my head.

"No."

It's been a week since we've lived in this new apartment and I really loved living on my own! Well, not all on my own. Michael and Steven lived with me.

Steven looked moody on the couch as he watched one of his favorite TV shows, Three's Company. I didn't know what his problem was and he always looked grumpy lately.

"What's wrong with you?" I asked as I sat on the armchair.

"Ever since Kelso proposed to you, Jackie's been constantly nagging to me about our wedding and how I should propose to her and when was I going to do it. I'm going to kill him! It's his fault that he started it!"

"I didn't like it that Michael proposed to me either, by the way," I said in my defense. "You know how unpredictable he can be. Jackie's just caught up in her fantasies again. Do you want to marry her? Even though you guys have been on and off, you two were in a long relationship."

"I don't know..." He sighed. "Now, there's pressure to propose with the whole wedding planning that Jackie is doing."

"Just tell her to cool it." I advised.

"Cool it?" He scoffed. "Do you even know her? Most likely she'd been planning her own wedding since she was twelve."

"I don't know what to tell you, Steven," I got frustrated with him. "Figure it out if you want to marry her or not. If not then...what are you even doing with her?"

"What are you doing with Kelso?" He countered. "You're with him too and you rejected his proposal."

"I didn't want us to marry because of the baby and I thought we should still date more. I just hope that the baby wouldn't change anything between us."

"Like how?" Steven asked as if how that was possible.

"It would be a lot more stressful and exhausting to raise him. We just have to make this work first. Michael's been doing so good being with me during all of this and I don't want anything else to ruin that. Even if we do break up, Michael and I would still have to be parents with each other. If you can't figure out if you want to marry Jackie or not, then can you even see your future with her?"

Hopefully, that gave something for Steven to think about.

To my major surprise, Michael had signed us up for parenting classes and Kitty was the teacher. I'm assuming she put him up to this and then he had asked me. I couldn't see Michael had this idea and wanted to do it willingly. But I appreciate the effort on his part.

Inside the classroom, there was a lot of heavily pregnant woman. Older adults too and it made me feel like that Michael and I was the youngest parents here.

"Man, look at all these preggos," Michael called them making me snort as I tried to hold in my laugh. "God, that one's walking like a gigantic duck."

"I think she's in her third trimester," I looked at the same woman Michael was staring at. "The baby probably dropped."

"Nah, I think it's still in there."

I love how Michael would unintentionally make me laugh at the dumb things he said.

"It means the baby's gotten itself into the birthing position," I clarified. "I got some baby books at the library to learn some stuff. And I got some parenting books. You can read them, too."

"Read parenting books?" He looked at me as if I was crazy. "Don't you just want to wing it?"

"No, I don't just want to 'wing it'. My parents winged it and look how Steven and I turned out." I made a point.

"You're right. I don't want our son to turn out like Hyde."

Before I could respond anything to that, Kitty came to us in her nurse uniform ready to teach.

"Oh, hi, Michael and Rachel. Hope you two are ready to talk boo-boos, burps, and binkies. I am so happy you two are here."

"I was at first, but now it feels like we're the youngest ones here." I said being self conscious as my eyes look around feeling that people was judging me.

"What's wrong with that?" Michael asked not seeing the problem. "That just means we're the most good looking. Well, I am. Look at that couple," He pointed to a couple who looked like they're in their late forties. "They're having a kid and they're old. Old people shouldn't be making babies."

I rolled my eyes at his logic and either Kitty was used to it or ignored him.

"Well, you should be happy because you have me as your tour guide as you make the transition to," She closed the rolled up projection screen to dramatically announce. "Parenthood!"

But on the wall was written 'KELSO RULES' in white chalk. Kitty and I gave Michael a look as he tried to not be guilty. We both knew it had to be him.

"Michael!" I scolded him and hated how shrill my voice sounds. Reminded me of the days when Michael was dating Jackie. Dear God, I hope I won't turn out like her.

"But that could have been anybody," He gave a pathetic excuse. "Everybody knows I rule."

"Okay, alright, okay. Let's get started," Kitty began the class and test and we all sat down. "Now, when you first bring your little bundles of joy home, they will spend almost twenty hours a day sleeping and pooping."

"Man, that's the life, huh?" Michael muttered to me and I tried not to laugh again.

"Now, who can tell me what they will do with the rest of their cute, little time?"

It's an answer I actually know. Turns out the baby books did come in handy after all.

"Oooh, yes, Rachel." Kitty picked me when I raised my hand.

"They'll be eating." I answered.

"Very good. And what will they be eating?"

Another pregnant woman had answered breast milk which she was correct.

"The baby will be seeing your breasts every day? Lucky," Michael said close to me, but I hushed him. "Just wait till I feed the little guy some pizza when you're not looking."

"Michael, babies can't eat pizza. They don't even have teeth." I told him.

"My Uncle Joe doesn't have teeth, but that didn't stop him from eating pizza."

I chuckled quietly and listened to learn Kitty's teaching.

Later, we were trying to wrap the fake plastic baby in diaper. For some reason, Kitty gave us a black looking baby.

"Okay, our kid better not be black cause if he is, you'll have some explaining to do." Michael said to me as he set it down onto the changing table.

I gave him a look as I rolled my eyes at how he could think otherwise. "Michael, I know the baby is yours. Are you sure you know how to use a diaper?" I doubted as he grabbed a diaper and had the plastic toy baby lay down on it.

"Look, I think you're underestimating me," He showed off his hands to me. "These beautiful hands aren't just made for foreplay," Michael started to put the diaper onto the baby. "Now, I remember the first time I baby sat for my little brother and he power-dooked all over himself, right? So, I got my Mom's salad tongs and pulled off his pants and then I grabbed him by the ankles and took him outside and hosed him off. And voilĂ !"

The baby was diaper wrapped in his hand and I smiled at how good of a job Michael did.

"Wow, that's amazing!" He passed the baby to me and I held it in my arms.

"See, you got the brains and the maternal instincts and I know how to wrap ass," I looked at him. "We're gonna do this together and we're gonna be fine." He assured me.

"You really think so?"

"I do." He confirmed and kissed me.

"Oooh, Daddy, that's just how I like it!" Kitty grinned and we gave her strange stares for saying that.

"You're really starting to creep me out." Michael said uncomfortably and I nodded my head in agreement at how weird she was.

Jackie and I got the news that Steven fell off from the water tower while he was talking with Donna. We were both worried and she drove me to the hospital. I couldn't believe Jackie got herself flowers at the gift shop for her 'grief'.

"Steven, we heard what happened!" Jackie immediately said as we rushed into the patient's room. She kissed his lips and I kissed his forehead as I rubbed his right shoulder in comfort.

"And you brought me flowers?" Steven asked. He wasn't the flower type.

"No, these are for me," Donna and I rolled our eyes. "My boyfriend fell off the water tower," She turned to the tall (and the apparently very strong) redhead giving her a rude look. "Your beefy man hands shoved my Steven off the water tower! What did he ever do to you, huh, Donna?"

"Jackie, stop, it's just an accident!" Donna sighed. "I feel bad enough..." Her boyfriend soothingly rubbed her back.

"I can understand if you accidentally pushed Eric off the water tower because he weighs like a leaf!"

"Excuse you, but I weigh eighty pounds, thank you very much!" Eric exclaimed in his defense.

"You may be in a neck brace, but at least you're still in one piece," I told my brother before a fight could ensue between Jackie and Donna. "And leave the falling off the water tower to Michael. That's his job."

"Hey!" My boyfriend cried in offense as everyone agreed.

"Okay, Steven, you can be free to go home. Get some rest and take it easy," Kitty released him as she tucked her clipboard under her armpit. "Trade you a kiss for a lollipop."

She had one out for him and Michael, Fez, Eric, and I watched the scene while Jackie and Donna already left. I knew he wouldn't take it in front of them. The guys would make fun of him for sure.

"I don't need that baby crap." Steven grumbled waving hand off, but as soon as the guys left, I saw that he took the lollipop like a happy little kid and kiss her cheek. I watched in amusement, shaking my head at him.

Kitty called my apartment to let me know that she wanted Steven and I to come over because she had some big exciting and surprising news to tell us. I had no idea what it could possibly be other than something that could happen to Eric and Donna, but they could just have told us about it themselves.

So, Steven and I went to the Formans for Kitty's big announcement. Michael and Jackie was there with us, too, for support. He just wanted to know what the juicy gossip was. We discussed it in the kitchen.

"Steven, Rachel, we found out the man you think is your father isn't really your father." Kitty began, but I was just confused.

"What?" I asked.

"Your real father's name is William Barnett and he lives in Milwaukee." She revealed and I didn't know what to make of it.

Steven and I exchanged glances at each other and I knew he felt the same like I did.

"Woah..." Michael said in shock under his breath. "So...neither of you are a Hyde. You're a Barnett," He made a face. "But it doesn't have the same ring to it like Hyde does..."

"Oh my god! Steven, this is so exciting!" She turned his chair to face her. "You have a whole new family, which is great, because I hate your family."

"Hey!" I exclaimed in offense at her.

"Except for you!" She quickly corrected herself and I just rolled my eyes.

"Steven, Rachel, I know you have a lot of feelings and emotions, and maybe you two want to cry together," Kitty said being sensitive with the subject. "We won't tell if either of you cry."

"I'll tell." Red said. He was standing behind his wife.

"Yeah, I don't like guys that cry." Jackie shook her head.

"What about me? I cried!" Michael pointed out to his ex. "I thought girls liked emotional guys."

"And that's one of the reasons why I broke up with you."

"Will you three please?" Kitty snapped at them and looked at us. "Steven, Rachel, are you okay?"

"I don't really know what to make of this, Mrs. Forman. It's pretty much too late to find out who our real father is. We're both grown adults now and I'm going to be a mother soon." I told her.

"Oh, no! No, no!" She shook her head. "It's never too late to know who your father is! Don't you want William to know he's about to be a grandfather soon?" She smiled being excited.

"Not really, no. We made it this far without him and we can do better off without him." I replied making her smile falter to a frown.

"Steven? What do you think?" She asked him.

"Well, I don't know the guy who's supposed to be my Dad, and obviously, I don't know this new guy, so I don't really care."

Steven got up and left to go outside and I followed him.

"We have a new father, huh?" I asked him once we're out.

"A biological father we never knew about thanks to our wonderful mother." Steven corrected sarcastically.

An epiphany just struck me.

"Since Bud isn't really our biological father, that's probably why it was so easy for him to always leave. We were never really his kids."

I started to feel nauseous a little bit that Bud knew that information for all of our lives. He did what he was able to do as our so-called 'father', but still failed tremendously.

This was too much to fathom and overwhelming. Steven and I really didn't want to talk about this anymore.

"Do you really want to visit this William Barnett guy?" I asked him to be sure.

"I don't know," Steven shrugged. "It just seems...pointless."

"I know what you mean." I agreed.

Just not seeing William would be much better for us. We lost all hope and love for our parents. Kitty and Red had pretty much replaced their roles and became good and proper parents to us.

The Formans was always our family.

The next few days, Steven was starting to come to the idea that we should see William. He was talking to me about it in the living room of our apartment. I didn't want to at first, but since he did, I went for him. It'll also make me look bad to William that I was the daughter who didn't go visit him in Milwaukee. Steven thought it should be the two of us, but I wasn't so keen to that idea.

We showed up at the Formans and was in the kitchen to announce that we're going to visit our...our biological father.

"Steven, you're all dressed up," Then Jackie had dramatically gasped seeing his nice outfit. I was in a dress. "Are you gonna propose?" She eagerly looked at me. "Rachel, is your brother going to propose-"

"No." We both answered together.

"Rachel and I thought we'd head out to Milwaukee."

"Just the two of you?" Kitty asked.

"Yeah, I guess." Steven answered and I just shrugged.

"I just figured...why not? Maybe this wouldn't be a bad idea."

"So, we'll see you guys later, then." Steven said and we're about to go, but we hesitated, looking at them.

"Well, we were, uh, just talking about going to Milwaukee...for their famous...honey buns." Red said, but he didn't sound so convincing.

"Well, you guys could come along, I guess," Steven looked at me. "Is that okay with you?"

"Sure." I nodded.

"Well, I'm...I'm sure in the mood for a honey bun," Kitty said and then smiled as if she couldn't help herself. "And to see two babies go home home to their Daddy!"

Steven, Red, and I groaned and cringed at her excitement.

In William Barnett's workplace building, we waited for him. Jackie was coddling Steven and Kitty was doing the same with me. It was getting on both of our nerves. We eventually told them off to stop it.

I think I was getting cold feet about meeting William...

I pulled Steven aside away from them and spoke to him in private. "I'm nervous. I don't think I can do this. This is a bad idea, Steven."

"Yeah, I don't know what I was thinking. I just..." He sighed. "I don't know. Sorry I put you through this-"

"What? You don't have to apologize! I kinda wanted to see him, too, but...uh, just not right now," I suddenly had an idea. "We can just leave!"

"Just leave them behind?" Steven asked as if it was stupid, but then he beamed at me. "Okay!"

Without anyone knowing, we had quietly left the place together.

Kitty didn't like that Steven and I ditched them and that we had changed our minds at the last minute to not see William. But she made some calls to William so we could all meet him. We waited for him to arrive in the Formans living room since Kitty always loved to host and throw parties.

I sat on the couch with Eric, Michael, and Kitty as Red sat on his armchair, and Jackie and Steven sat on the piano bench together.

"Steven, Rachel, I am so happy we finally found your real father," Kitty excitedly said. I think she was way more thrilled to meet him than Steven and I were. "Here, I framed the blood test results for the both of you," She gave the frame to us, but we set it carelessly aside. "Now, I spoke to him this morning, and I told him how your parents abandoned the both of you, and we took you two in, but now you two have moved out on your own," She got a little emotional at that part, but tried to control herself. "And I know it's hard for the both of you to say it out loud, but that you two love me because I saved your lives."

"Kitty, I'm not sure..." Red started to say, but his wife interrupted him.

"They would be dead on the streets!" Suddenly, the doorbell rang and Kitty hurriedly went to answer it. I was nervous to finally meet him and not run off like I did last time. "Okay, he's here. Now, Steven, Rachel, fix your hair. Eric, don't mumble. Red, don't yell at Eric if he mumbles." She ordered all of us.

Then Kitty opened the door to reveal a black man standing there with a friendly smile.

"Hi, is this the Formans?" The guy asked us.

"You know, I'm sorry. I told your friend last week we don't want a subscription to Ebony Magazine."

He chuckled. "No, no, no, no. We spoke over the phone. I'm William Barnett. I'm Steven and Rachel's father."

We all turned our heads to see him and I know I was definitely surprised at what my biological father looked like. I just have no words.

"Woah..." Michael muttered under his breath. Then he said louder. "How can you be their father? You're black!"

Eric and I slapped our hands onto our foreheads at how we couldn't believe he just said that. I didn't expect my father to be black either, but at least no one mentioned it.

"Michael!" Jackie had harshly scolded him and I mentally thanked her for that.

"Everybody, meet Steven and Rachel's father!" Kitty introduced as they approached to us. "Steven, Rachel, look!"

"I'm lookin'." Steven said, standing up with the others.

I was about to stand up too until William quickly forbid me. "Oh, no. You don't have to. Please, sit," I'm sure it's because I was pregnant, but I appreciate his courtesy. "I never expected to have a beautiful and pregnant daughter."

"I thought it'd be a fun surprise!" Kitty giggled, practically bouncing in excitement.

"It definitely was a surprise for me when I found out..." I remarked.

"You didn't plan this?" William asked.

"No, I'm only eighteen."

"Who's the father?"

"I am." Michael proudly answered with a smile.

"Are you going to be taking care of them?"

"Yes, sir."

"Good. So, are you having a boy or a girl?" He asked me then added as a joke. "Or twins?"

"Just one boy, thank god," I answered. "I'm thirty three weeks so he should come very soon."

"Unplanned or not, congratulations," Then he said to Steven and I. "It's good to meet the both of you. I've really been looking forward to this. Wanted to get you kids a card, but they don't have one for our unique situation. So, here," William handed us an envelope. "Happy first communion."

"Wow," Jackie was amazed as she stood up. She looked at us then at William. "You two came from him?"

"Yeah, I'm not sure I see the resemblance." Eric said and I had to agree with him.

"Yeah, me neither." I doubted.

"What are you talking about?" Steven asked us. "My 'fro, my coolness, my suspicion of the man. This explains so much."

"Well, what about me?" I crossed my arms over my belly.

"This explains a lot about you too. You love their culture and music and had a crush on Michael Jackson."

No one really knew about that, not even Eric or Michael. I hated how Steven exposed me and I felt embarrassed.

"I do not have a crush on him! I just thought he was so cool and a very good dancer!" I defended myself.

"Well, Mr. Barnett, please sit anywhere you'd like on this big day," Eric said. William, Kitty, and I sat on the couch while Michael and Eric stands. Red returned to sit on his chair, and Jackie and Steven sat on the piano bench together like before. "After all, how often does a kid get to meet his very own father?"

"So far I'm up to twice." Steven replied, putting two fingers.

I winced, holding onto my belly because I felt a contraction that didn't feel like a Braxton Hicks, but I kept it to myself. I've been feeling contractions off and on today. I just brushed it off as nothing and I didn't want to ruin the moment because I was meeting my real father for the first time.

"Hey, would you like a drink? Perhaps a cool drink for our...cool visitor?" Eric had offered. God, he was such a dork sometimes.

"No, thanks, but I think all of you could use a Scotch." William replied, looking at us.

I still couldn't wrap my head around the extremely obvious fact that my father was a black man. I didn't think I was prejudiced, but it's funny how genetics work. I tried to see anything that was similar with me, him, and Steven. It was like a puzzle I couldn't solve, but Edna put his name onto our birth certificate, so it must be true.

"That's crazy. We're totally relaxed," Eric laughed it off and looked at us. Neither of us looked any good about this situation. I was just confused and so was Michael, but he's also fascinated at the same time.

"Hey, you know what show I love? The Jeffersons. Dyn-o-mite! Right?!" He laughed and I just had to cringe and die a little on the inside.

"'Dyn-o-mite' is from Good Times." Jackie corrected him.

"Oh well, I watch them all. I mean, I don't discriminate."

"So, you're the father to these twins." Red stated.

"Yep." William agreed.

"Well, I...I guess Steven and Rachel must have gotten their mother's..."

"Eyes! Eyes," Kitty had quickly filled in before he could've said the obvious. "Steven and Rachel got their mother's pretty eyes."

"I thought you were going to say they got their mother's white skin." Michael said making everything worse.

"You know, I'm beginning to feel like you haven't had a lot of black people in this house." William noticed.

"Well, I mean, certainly not because we didn't want to." Eric replied.

"Right, right. No, it's just there haven't been any available." Kitty agreed.

"You know, it's Wisconsin." Jackie pointed out.

"Well, I know all about Wisconsin. The only place around here where you'll see white and black together is on a cow." William joked and we all had laughed at it despite the awkwardness that there wasn't a lot of diversity in this state.

"So, William, what kind of work do you do?" Red had asked him.

"I own a chain of record stores."

"Record stores...that's cool, huh?" Of course, Steven thought that. "I was afraid you were gonna be a cop or something."

"I don't like cops."

"I don't like cops either," At least they had something in common. "Hey, who do you think shot J.F.K.?"

"I don't know because they don't want me to know." William answered conspiratorially.

Steven was amazed. "Check it out, man! I'm a chip off the old block! Man, I wish Mom had told us about you."

'Yeah, she never mentioned anything about you," I said. "We believed some other guy was our father who wasn't much of a prize." I hated to just to even think about Bud because of how badly he treated Steven and I.

"Hey, when was the last time you saw her?"

"Oh, years ago. We were dating, and she just disappeared. I guess she married the man you two thought was your father and told him that you kids were his babies."

"Yeah, Mom must have been pretty relieved when Rachel and I came out white, huh?" Steven and William laughed together. I wanted to join in too because that was a pretty good one, but I didn't when the worst had happened to me.

"Rachel, are you okay?" Jackie asked, noticing how uncomfortable I was.

Everybody was staring at me with worry and concern.

"M-m-my water broke."
