House of Mice:

Nina, Fabian and Alfie followed Amber's screams. When they got to the bathroom, they saw Amber lying unconscious on the floor and saw mice walking all over the bathroom floor.

"Amber, Amber wake up," said Nina, as she kneeled down next to Amber.

"Do you think she fainted?" Asked Fabian

"I think so. She's really terrified of mice," said Nina.

"Amber wake up," said Fabian.

"Amber do you hear me?" Asked Nina.

"But Fabs shouldn't you work on the riddle?" Asked Alfie.

"Not Alfie now," said Fabian.

"Why not?" Asked Alfie.

"You can see why right?" Said Nina, as she pointed to an unconscious Amber

"Oh yeah," said Alfie

"Amber come on, open your eyes?" Asked Nina.

Amber opened her eyes and her head was aching.

"Ouch my head," said Amber.

"Did you fall on your head?" Asked Nina.

"I think so. I was just about to was my hand and there were ... MICE!" Screamed Amber.

Amber saw the mice and ran to her room while screaming in terror. The rest of the girls came out of their rooms to see what was going on. Victor was in the hallway with a vase containing a mouse in one hand and a butterfly net in the other

"What is going on?" Asked Caitlin.

"Mice?" Asked Patricia.

"Yes and the whole house is invaded with them," said Victor.

Then they all heard Trudy scream. The girls, Fabian, Alfie and Victor went down to have a look. When they got downstairs. Patricia, Mara, Fiona and Caitlin headed to the kitchen. Alfie tried to talk to Fabian about the riddle.

"Fabs, why don't you go work on the riddle now?" Asked Alfie.

"Now is not the time, Alfie. We now have other problems on our minds right now," said Fabian.

Fabian and Alfie went to the kitchen. Nina thought Alfie's behavior was suspicious. Nina also went into the kitchen. Trudy sat frightened on the kitchen counter. Aaron, Mick and Otis were catching the mice. Jerome was just standing in the corner doing nothing.

"Mice! There are Mice everywhere," said Trudy.

"We're already busy trying catching them Trudy," said Aaron.

"Victor they are everywhere. They're in the cupboards, they're on the stove, I really can't cook like that," said Trudy.

"This requires drastic measures. I only see one solution," said Victor.

"Come on sweeties, we gotta catch them," said Trudy.

"Don't hurt them, they are creatures of nature too," said Fiona

Fabian thought it suspicious that the house had suddenly been invaded by white mice. Then Fabian realized something. Fabian took Nina aside to talk to her.

"What is it?" Asked Nina.

"Nina, white mice have been bred," said Fabian.

"Do you think Victor released the mice in the house?" Asked Nina.

"He was very quick on the scene his butterfly net and his vase," said Fabian.

"But why?" Asked Nina.

Victor went to his office and called Mr. Sweet to say that the Anubis residents would be coming to the school soon and that everything went according to his plan.

In the meantime, all residents, except Amber, were busy catching the mice.

"I refuse to catch these mice, if Victor is going to kill them," said Fiona.

"Do not act so stupid! There shouldn't be mice in the house. We live here, this is our house," said Amber

"Look Amber here is one of your new roommates," said Otis.

Otis held one of the mice close to Amber's face. Amber saw the mouse and ran out of the living room screaming. Jerome had gone over to Alfie to see if Alfie had any answers.

"And?" Asked Jerome.

"Well, I've nothing, because Fabian hasn't come further with the riddle," said Alfie

"Then make him solve it," said Jerome.

"How?" Asked Alfie.

"You've to push more," said Jerome.

Then Alfie saw Nina looking in his direction and had to think of something quickly to make him look less suspicious.

"Listen, just leave me alone!" Said Alfie.

"What did you say to me?" Asked Jerome

"I'm not your friend and I don't want to be your friend anymore!" Said Alfie.

"Alfie!" Said Jerome.

Alfie stormed out of the living room and Jerome followed him.

"What do you think you are doing? Would you help me remember? Or do I need to tell Fabian and the rest of your friends, that you're a rat," said Jerome

"Relax, I didn't mean those things I said, I just said it, to give Nina the impression that we're arguing. She's watching me like a hawk," said Alfie.

Moments later, all residents were gathered in the living room.

"As you can see, we suffer from mice. And because of that I'm forced to take drastic measures," said Victor.

"What kind of measures?" Asked Mara.

"You leave the hose and go to school, Mr. sweet is waiting there for you," said Victor,

"But it's Sunday," complained Mick.

"Yeah and we're all still in our pajamas," said Aaron.

"Can't we get changed and pack some things?" Asked Amber

"No, you put on your shoes and go to school," ordered Victor.

"This is ridiculous," said Aaron.

"This doesn't make any sense. We haven't had mice in years and suddenly white mice are swarming here. Wild mice are gray, white mice can be bought at the pet store," said Fabian.

"Shut up you. And now everybody get out of the house and go to school," ordered Victor.

"Oh no one of my worst nightmares comes true, going to school on a Sunday, I swear if my 3rd grade teacher is there too, we're really in trouble," said Otis.

The Anubis residents left the house and walked to school. During their walk to school Nina saw this a good opportunity to talk to Fabian about Alfie behavior.

"Fabian, I think Alfie is pushing you way too much about solving the riddle," said Nina.

"He's just overly enthusiastic and curious. We're talking about Alfie here," said Fabian.

"Yes, I know Alfie can be enthusiastic. But his curiosity looks just like Jerome's curiosity and that's not a good sign," said Nina.

"Nina come on, we talked about this," said Fabian.

"I know that. But then I got him talking to Jerome and it looked suspicious," said Nina.

"They were fighting," said Fabian.

"And I still think that something is going on," said Nina.

When the residents arrived at school they went to the drama room there were six camping beds with a sleeping bag and a tube of toothpaste and a toothbrush.

"What is all this?" Asked Amber.

"This is the Amun Academic Boarding School emergency plan. In case of calamities, the school will serve as an emergency shelter," said Mr. Sweet.

"This ridiculous," said Patricia

"Yeah, did we have to leave our house because of some mice?" Asked Otis.

"White mice. We may speak here of a new and dangerous albino breed," said Mr. Sweet.

"What? that sounds ridiculous," said Aaron.

"Now those mice must be examined and for that they must first be caught," said Mr. Sweet.

"They can't do that, those mice are nothing more than innocent and scared animals," said Fiona.

"Until the mice are caught, the school will serve as your home and no one can go back to the house," said Mr. Sweet.

"No, but all our stuff is still there," said Mara.

"And what about our clothes?" Asked Amber.

"Trudy will bring your uniforms tomorrow morning," said Mr. Sweet.

"And where are we gonna sleep?" Asked Mara.

"Girls will sleep in the drama room and the boys will sleep in the history classroom," said Mr. Sweet.

Nina and Fabian realized they were in trouble if they couldn't get into the house.

"The Ankh pieces," said Nina.

"Victor is behind this," said Fabian.

In the meantime in the house. Victor was searching Nina and Amber's room. He messed up everything but couldn't find anything and Victor became frustrated. Victor left the room and went to Fiona and Caitlin's room.

Back in the school, all the Anubis residents were sitting in the drama room and were bored.

"I'm bored," said Mick

"Can't we do something to pass the time?" Asked Mara

"Yeah, watch a movie or something," said Mick.

"I've no objection to you children watching a movie. But unfortunately we can't watch a movie anywhere here at school," said Mr. Sweet.

"Yes we can," said Otis

"Where Otis?" Asked Mara.

"Here in the drama room. The drama room has a projector screen, all we need is a beamer, a laptop and a few cables," said Otis.

"Where are we going to get a beamer?" Asked Mick.

"I think the movie club has a beamer. I just need to get it work," said Otis.

"But we don't have any movies," said Mick

"I do have some movies in my locker," said Otis.

"Okay Otis I put you in charge of setting up everything for the movie," said Mr. Sweet.

Otis and Mr. Sweet left the drama room to collect the stuff for the movie. Fabian saw this as an opportunity to talk to the club. The club, minus Alfie, left the drama room. Jerome saw the club was gone and thought they were having another secret meeting. Jerome was looking for Alfie so he could spy again. Alfie, Fiona and Cailtin were having a sleeping bag race and seemed to have fun.

"Alfie here," ordered Jerome

"He's not a dog, you know. 'Alfie, here boy'," said Caitlin

"Yeah Caitlin is right, Alfie is his own person, And doesn't need to listen to your orders," said Fiona.

Alfie got out of his sleeping bag and walked over to Jerome.

"What are your little friends up to?" Asked Jerome.

"What are you talking about?" Asked Alfie.

"They just sneaked out. Follow them. Find out what they're up to," ordered Jerome.

"Caitlin is right. I'm not your dog, you know," said Alfie

"Oh, yes, you are. If I tell you to jump, you jump and then roll over," said Jerome.

The club walked to their lockers to have their meeting.

"We have a problem," said Nina

"What kind of problem?" Asked Patricia.

"Victor is alone in the house and so are the Ankh pieces," said Nina

"But they are still safely behind the panel, and only you can open it," said Aaron.

"Yes I know. But Victor suspects something that is in the attic. So that's why he let all those mice loose in the house," said Nina.

"That's so not fair," said Amber.

"Victor is a bad guy, bad guys never play it fair. That's why they're bad guys," said Aaron.

"And what are we going do now? Asked Patricia.

"As soon as the lights go out, Fabian and I go to the house to see if the Ankh pieces are still safe. And you have to stay here and distract Sweetie," said Nina.

"Leave that that up to us," said Aaron.

"Yes, we will come up with something," said Patricia,

"And we have one more thing to discuss with you," said Nina.

"What is it?" Asked Aaron,

"Wait stop, shouldn't we wait for Alfie?" Asked Amber.

"That's what we wanna talk about. It's about Alfie," said Nina.

"Yeah, I think Nina could be right about Alfie," said Fabian.

"What that he cannot be trusted and that he spies for Jerome?" Asked Patricia.

"But Alfie's so nice and he's taken an oath," said Amber

"Yes, I know Alfie is nice. But Jerome is very crafty and I wouldn't be surprised if he has something to blackmail Alfie with," said Fabian.

"Are we gonna kick Alfie out of the club?" Asked Patricia.

"No I think it's smart to lead him to a dead end," said Fabian.

"What does that mean?" Asked Amber.

"That we are going to tell him something that will lead nowhere. Then when we see that Jerome is also on a dead end, we know that Alfie cannot be trusted," said Fabian.

"Shh Alfie is coming," said Aaron, as he saw that Alfie, was coming.

"Hey, said Alfie," as he walked up to the club.

"Hey," said Patricia.

"I thought you were going to say, that the meeting would be here," said Fabian.

"Me? No I was not one to tell him, You Amber?" Said Aaron.

"No, not me," said Amber

"Stupid misunderstanding," said Fabian.

"It can happen," said Alfie.

"Hey while you're here, we can discuss something with you," said Fabian.

"What?" Asked Alfie.

"I think I know where the demisphere is," said Nina.

"Where is it?" Asked Alfie.

"I think in the fireplace," said Nina.

"In the fireplace?" Asked Alfie

"Yeah when I was catching some mice, I got close to the fireplace, I got a weird feeling from it," said Nina.

"Yeah and it makes sense. Fire is light and fire is power," said Fabian.

"So you think the riddle leads to the fireplace?" Asked Alfie.

"Yes, that's what I think," said Nina.

Alfie seemed happy with the news and walked away. The club knew that Alfie had taken to bait. Later Alfie met Jerome in the boys bathroom to tell him what he thought was the answer to the riddle.

"So they think that we need to look in the fire place," said Alfie.

"And that's where the treasure is?" Asked Jerome.

"Or the next Ankh piece or a new riddle," said Alfie.

"Good work Alfie," said Jerome.

Alfie was about to leave the bathroom, but Jerome stopped him.

"What? I helped you didn't I?" Asked Alfie.

"Tonight you're going to the house and you're going search the fire place," said Jerome.

That was the last thing Alfie wanted to do. And from the way Jerome looked he was very serious about Alfie going back to the house. What was Alfie going to now?
