Chapter 9: Big Top Flop: Opening Act
A few days later, after the river had completely cleared up, Kirby, Nocturnal and the twins were walking back from the lake after a recent survey. "The lake has recovered nicely. The fish will probably return soon...hmm?" Nocturnal said to the three. He then heard the sound of an engine, coming across the crossroad. "Again?"
"Again?" Tuff asked.
"For the past few days, Waddle Dees have been setting up something in the northern plains." Nocturnal explained.
A series of trucks, each being driven by a Waddle Dee, drove past the four. On the side said "Dedede's Circus of Amazement!" Plastered on the side.
"Puyo?" Kirby said crooking his head with interest.
"Alright, Let's get everything set up!" Waddle Doo said in a megaphone. The Waddle Dees were setting up a large tent, building size tent. A few cappy kids were watching from a distance. A few trailers were also parked around the area as various noises came from within.
"What are they doing?" One of the kids said looking at the scene.
A large sign was hosted up, on it was a cartoon drawing of Dedede wearing a ringleader outfit and Escargoon wearing a clown costume.
It was at that moment that our heroes arrived and saw the sign. "A circus?" Nocturnal said curiously.
"What's Dedede's up to?" Tiff said suspiciously. Kirby, however, was too interested in the passing food vendors to care about what Dedede's latest plan was.
Suddenly, the sound of a car horn filled the air as a tiny colorful slugbug zoomed by the site. A moment later. The tiny doors on both side opened and a couple of normal size clowns, obtuse shaped bodies and wearing paint make-up, squeezed out.
"Wow, Clowns!" Tuff said excitedly. However one of them looked towards them, they're eyes flashing red before following the trope.
Tiff and Nocturnal were the only ones to see that. "Tiff...was that the effects of my old age or did that clown just..." Nocturnal began.
"It wasn't just you, Those were monsters," Tiff said suddenly now more suspicious than ever. "And I bet anything this is one of Dedede's schemes to get rid of Kirby."
"I agree, But we can't just walk up to them and clobber them without proof," Nocturnal whispered to Tiff. "Plus, if Dedede knows we're onto him, he might make a change in his plans. We should play along and stroke his ego."
Tiff, Tuff, Fololo, Falala, and Kirby nodded as the construction continued.
"A Circus?" Cheif Bookems said looking at the poster. On it said: "Dedede's delightful circus of wonder!"
"Could be another of his tricks." One of the gathering cappas said.
"But it does look fun." Another said against the former.
"I've never been to a circus before." Chef Kawasaki said looking at the poster. He then pulled the poster off from the town tree. "You think we'll get a discount if we bring the poster?"
"Sire, I understand you're into the circus now, But is this really necessary?" Escargoon said to the king behind the dressing screen, The poor snail servant was wearing a ridiculous costume best suited for a rodeo clown. "I feel like one of those murderous clowns, all I need is a red balloon and I'll be the stuff of nightmares."
"Pipe down, If there's one thing about those bonehead cappies. Is that they eat anything up that's new." Dedede said stepping out from behind the dresser wearing a ringleaders uniform. He was holding a lion whip, gripping it tightly. "I'll razzle-dazzle the audience with my spectacular circus before bringing it down onto Kirby!" Dedede laughed, Unaware of the spy camera hidden in the corner of the room.
"It's a good thing I had Fololo and Falala install these hidden cameras in parts of the castle. Now we can plan whenever that lug plots something." Nocturnal said watching the feed.
"So now we have our proof, We can have Bookems arrest him!" Tiff said smiling before seeing the Doctor's concern face. "What's wrong?"
"...We could do that...Or..." Nocturnal then smiled as he said that. "We give Cappa Town the best show ever, It just so happens I also equipped Kirby with a Copy Ability just for situations like this...And besides." Nocturnal then spoke with a not-sorry tone. "Dedede worked so hard on this circus, it would be a shame to not enjoy it before It blows up in his face."
