Baby I'm Yours

Killian woke again a few hours later, he was pleased to see that Emma was still in bed next to him. He wanted nothing more than to protect her, and hearing about her past made him all the more protective of her. To think that Emma, his Emma, spent a year in prison for something she didn't do was beyond devastating. He understood where her defensiveness came from, and he vowed to himself in that moment that he wouldn't let anyone ever hurt her again.

"Hi love," Killian whispered, nuzzling into Emma's shoulder and kissing it as he noticed her stirring.

"Hi," she said back kissing the side of his head. She felt much better after her breakdown this morning and getting more sleep. It felt amazing that he was still there, he didn't run, he wanted to really make this work. "Listen," she started. She wanted to apologize; the way she reacted this morning hadn't been fair to him at all.

He shook his head no and brought a finger up to her lips. "You have zero to apologize for. Water under the bridge," he told her.

Emma shook her head in agreement. "We really should get up though," Emma told him.

He growled at her which made her giggle. "Fine," he ended up saying, "but only if you make me breakfast."

Emma rolled her eyes, "I have time for coffee, some of us have to work for a living." She slowly got out of bed and threw a sweatshirt and shorts on

"Work is for losers," he told her with a yawn, getting out of bed and stretching his arms above his head. Emma couldn't help but sneak a peek at his abs and chest. He caught her staring and winked.

"Guess I'll have to marry rich then, maybe a nice lawyer," She teased. Killian dramatically grabbed at his chest, "Right in the heart Swan, right in the heart."

He grabbed her hand as she walked past and pulled her into his arms, "Thank you for last night and for this morning. I'm not going anywhere, what we have is different," he murmured into her hair.

She kissed his chest and whispered a thanks. She was still scared, terrified really. But him sticking around and fighting for her really made a difference.

"I really do need to work though," she said after he had been holding her in his arms for nearly five minutes. "Party pooper," he said.

"Busy tonight?" he asked as he began putting his clothes on.

"I have a hot date with that lawyer I mentioned earlier," she said laughing as she ran from the room. "Oi!" He called after her.

The work day had felt like the longest one in existence. Every single customer had an attitude or was completely unpleasant.

"What is going on today?" Ruby asked when they finally closed the diner at 8 that evening. Emma shook her head as she counted the register. "Everyone sucks." She said simply.

"True," Ruby agreed laughing. "So, what are you and lovely Killian doing tonight?"

"Nothing exciting," Emma replied, "Probably sitting on my couch watching movies."

"Sounds fun," Ruby said though not actually meaning it.

"How about you and Robin?"

"Oh, you know, having dirty, dirty sex," Ruby said. Emma threw the towel she was holding at Ruby's head and yelled "TMI!"

"Ruby was the most open person she knew. Too open in many cases. Especially when it came to the details of her sex life.

"So, have you guys?" Ruby questioned.

"You guys what?" Emma said.

Ruby wiggled her eyebrows suggestively, "Got it on."

"Ruby!"

"What!? I'm just curious," she said not even looking slightly sheepish.

"Yes," Emma admitted feeling her face turn scarlet as Ruby did a little cheer.

"And," Ruby said prying for more information.

"And it was lovely," Emma responded simply, "and then I had a complete meltdown this morning."

"Wait, why?" Ruby asked. Emma knew exactly what Ruby was thinking. That Emma always did this. Pushed away any guy who got too close or showed too much interest in her.

Emma shrugged, "I guess I just got overwhelmed. I ended up telling him everything." It was partially true, she told Killian everything that Ruby knew. She had never told anyone about the baby she gave up for adoption. It was too painful, and Emma refused to let anyone pity her. Not even those closest to her.

Ruby covered Emma's hand with her own, "I know that must have been hard for you. I really do think Killian is great for you. Seeing you happy…it's just…I don't know. You just deserve the world."

Emma squeezed her hand back and smiled. Ruby and Mary Margaret were her family, and one day she would truly let them in and tell them everything. The right time would come, Emma just knew it.

"So," Ruby announced taking a seat at the bar across from Emma, "I have an extremely important question to ask."

"What's up," Emma asked.

"Will you be my maid of honor?"

Emma was slightly taken aback but felt so much love towards her best friend. "Ruby," Emma started, "I would be honored to."

Ruby threw her hands up in celebration, "Oh Emma, you have no idea how happy that makes me."

Emma couldn't help but laugh. "Was there really ever a choice?" she teased.

Ruby crinkled her nose and giggled. "Nope," she stated, "and now I can force you to go wedding dress shopping with me next weekend."

Emma groaned dramatically. She couldn't think of anything she would rather do less. Emma was never the type that dreamed about her wedding day. Even when she was in deep with Neal, it was like a far-off thought, nothing she ever seriously considered. However, Ruby was her best friend. She always supported her, and it was Emma's turn to do the same. "I'll go," she said simply.

Emma listened to Ruby talk about her perfect dress and the vision of her dream wedding as they closed up the diner. Ruby had visions of sparkly taffeta and flowy chiffon; Emma could only think about how itchy she would be in her maid of honor gown.

Later that night

Killian and Emma sat curled up on the couch, a glass of cheap red wine in each of their hands, as they watched Frozen.

"I still can't believe you never watched this movie before," Emma said.

Killian laughed, "What kind of single man in his thirties watches Disney movies?" he countered.

"I know for a fact Robin watches them with Ruby all the time."

"Robin doesn't set the bar very high for manliness," Killian said causing Emma to laugh into her wine.

"Don't let Ruby hear you saying that," Emma said getting off the couch to go check on the pizza in the oven.

"Grab more wine from the kitchen please," Killian called out to her. He laid his head back against the couch and smiled. This girl was full of surprises. When the cold exterior melted away you were left with a woman who had a sweet tooth, who loved watching Disney movies, and was just a good person.

Emma came into the living room minutes later, juggling two plates of pizza and the bottle of wine.

"Thanks," he said grabbing the wine and food from her. Killian really couldn't believe the ease of it all. Being with her felt right and natural. He realized that he wanted nothing more in life to be curled up with her, eating pizza and drinking shitty wine. Just being with Emma.

"So," Emma said between mouths of food, "Ruby asked me to be her maid of honor today."

Killian smiled at her, "That's great. Robin asked me to be his best man as well."

"I think they are trying to set us up again," Emma laughed.

"I think it's working."

Emma looked over at Killian and the strangest thought crossed through her mind. Home. She felt like she was home when she was with Killian. It both freaked her out and made her feel hopeful at the same time. She was trying so hard to suppress the instinct to flee and ruin everything. Deep down she didn't want that, but the feelings still remained.

"What's on your mind?" Killian asked, interrupting her thoughts.

"Hmm," Emma answered focusing in on him again, "Oh, nothing. Just thinking about what ridiculous dress Ruby is going to make me wear." She lied not wanted to bring down the lightheartedness of the mood, not ruining a perfect evening.

"You will look gorgeous in anything," Killian told her.

"Oh yeah, keep that in mind when I look like a cupcake at her wedding." This caused Killian to let out a bark of laughter.

"Well you will be the hottest cupcake around," he said, putting his arm over her shoulder and pulling her in close. "Tonight has been special, thank you," he whispered into her ear.

Emma snuggled in closer to him, feeling a love in her heart that she hadn't felt in a very long time. Maybe Olaf was right, maybe some people were worth melting for.
