Chapter 12: Chip's Son Makes His Debut
There was a young beaver who stopped by for a visit in Triforce. He wore a cap, a fishing vest, and a tropical shorts. He immediately took out his smartphone and took a couple of photos of the island, including himself. He put it away and took out his fishing rod to catch a fish. Vicki and Robert were very surprised to see this animal. Although, he looked awfully familiar to them for some reason; so, they decided to meet him.
"Um, hello," said Vicki politely.
"Hey, what's up?" said the young beaver. "You two lived in this island, right?"
"Of course, we happened to live here," Robert replied, as he was examining the young beaver. "Say, you looked very familiar somehow, but you're very young though..."
"Yeah, he reminded me of someone we know, but very much younger..." Vicki pointed out.
"Ah, I think I know who you guys are talking about!" said the beaver, as he was interrupting the young couple. "You two must've met my dad before, right? Nyuk, nyuk!"
"Your...dad?" Vicki bit her finger for a second until she found the solution. "Oh, you must be the son of Chip, correct?"
"Yep, that's right!"
"Ah, no wonder you two are somehow related, and I could finally see the resemblance!" said Robert, as he was beginning to introduce himself and Vicki to Chip's son. "Anyways, my name is Robert, I'm the island representative of Triforce. This is my lovely next-door neighbor and my girlfriend, Vicki!"
"Nice to meet you!" said Vicki. "And you are?"
"You can call me C.J.!" the little beaver replied.
C.J. asked Vicki and Robert if they were up for a challenge, but they had no idea of what this was about. He started to explain to them that the challenge was you had to catch five fishes in a row. Whoever completed the challenge, he or she would receive a reward from him. That was the end of C.J.'s explanation, and the two humans accepted the challenge. And so, the challenge began without the time limit.
While Vicki and Robert were fishing at the different areas, Sammy and Jimmy scoffed at the pair and continued walking. Then, they immediately saw C.J. who was walking around with his fishing rod. So, they went to get his attention by bumping into him.
"Oh, excuse me dudes, may I help you?" C.J. asked.
"Um, we were just saying hi, that's all," Sammy replied.
"Yeah, so who are you exactly, shrimp?" Jimmy asked.
"My name is C.J., the son of Chip," C.J. answered. "I'm actually a beaver, not a shrimp!"
"Oh wow, I didn't know Chip-man has a son..." said Sammy unenthusiastically.
"Yeah, no wonder those two are related..." said Jimmy. "He and the old man are very much alike, don't they?"
Vicki and Robert came back to see C.J. after they caught five fishes in a row. They reported to him, and he was very pleased. The little beaver pushed Sammy and Jimmy aside and took the picture of the pair with his smartphone, including himself. Vicki chuckled nervously and Robert made an uneasy smile whether they were comfortable about this or not. After the pictures were taken, he gave each of them a reward as he promised.
"Thank you very much, C.J.!" said Vicki and Robert in unison, as they strolled away with their rewards.
Sammy and Jimmy asked C.J. of how they got the rewards, and the beaver explained to them that they must completed the challenge if they wanted the reward so badly. The twins decided to accept the challenge, and C.J. started to explain the rules to them that they had to catch five fishes in the row with no time limit. They thought it was a piece of cake and started up their challenge.
Up in the sky, Magpie flew around with her spy camera and spotted the young beaver on land. She immediately flew down to Steven who was taking a sip of coffee. She reported to him that there's a beaver in this island, and he found it very amusing. He had a plan to capture C.J., and it was a very sinister one as well. Finally, he made an evil cackle and started to laugh out loud.
Few moments later, Sammy and Jimmy were having a hard time to catch a fish. Neither of them caught a single fish ever since their challenge began. As soon as one of them finally got a bite, all they ever caught was an old boot. They were not very happy about this at all. So, they hurled the fishing rods together furiously, but there's one thing they didn't realized was their fishing hooks were attaching to the back of their pants. When they lured out their fishing rods, they suddenly pulled out themselves and fell into the ocean waves. C.J. witnessed the whole scene that he only took one picture of those cowardly twin fishermen and was starting to burst with laughter. All of the sudden, he bumped into the evil agent who was going after him.
"Hello shorty, care to come with me?" Steven asked politely, as he took out the fishing net from his briefcase.
"Nyuk! W-Who are you, stranger?" C.J. asked, as he was starting to panic.
"Let's just say I'm more of a threat to you."
Steven threw the fishing net right away at C.J., but the little beaver quickly dodged it. He immediately knocked him down with his own fishing rod before he got away. Steven rubbed his back where C.J. hit him, and then he turned his gaze at Sammy and Jimmy who just got out of the ocean.
"Hey you two, have either of you seen a beaver who was young and very energetic of taking photos?" Steven asked. But the only response Sammy and Jimmy gave him was a fearful scream before they ran away from him. "Ugh, I should have never asked the normal, weird humans like those two...I mean, why do I bother asking them?"
Steven was looking for C.J. who was hiding somewhere in Triforce. He was searching behind the trees, bushes, and even buildings, but there's no sign of him. Luckily, C.J. was hiding under the bridge and finally came out of there before he was discovered. Magpie immediately saw him and warned Steven that she found him. So, the evil agent went after the beaver and immediately caught him by the short legs. C.J. tried to wiggle himself rapidly from Steven, just like a child was starting to throw tantrums in front of the adult.
"Stop your squirming, you little pipsqueak!" Steven argued. "You're coming with me!"
"G-Get your hands off me, you big bully!" C.J. shouted. "Just let me go right now!"
Suddenly, Vicki and Robert saw Steven capturing C.J. who was making a fuss. They quickly hid behind the building and started to transform right away. Phantom Angel immediately threw her tiara at Steven's back. This was the second time someone hit his back with something in order to stop him. C.J. was finally released after the agent rubbed his back once again.
Why is it that someone keeps hitting my poor back with an object? Steven thought, as he crossed his eyes and grumbled.
"Dude, you'd better leave the kid alone!" Masked Swordmaster exclaimed.
"That's right, C.J. has nothing to do with you!" Phantom Angel exclaimed. "And now..."
"The Duo of Justice are finally here!" said the dynamic duo in triumph.
"Oh, why is it that you two have to interfere my plans?" Steven asked, as he slightly changed his subject. "Henchmen, go get them now!"
While the Duo of Justice were fighting off against Steven's henchmen, the agent found C.J. hiding behind one of the palm trees. He was chasing after him one way or another. C.J. immediately threw some fishes, he caught before, at Steven so he could slow him down a bit. After the dynamic duo defeated the henchmen, they went after Steven who was chasing C.J. all over the island. As soon as they finally stopped his tracks, the young beaver was saved by the duo.
"Not so fast, Steven!" Phantom Angel exclaimed. "You're not taking C.J. from this island!"
"Fine, I'll stop..." said Steven calmly. "But at least, I have someone to back me up though."
Phantom Angel and Masked Swordmaster turned around to see of where Steven was pointing at. They saw Magpie taking C.J. and flew up in the sky. The angel had to rescue the young beaver and the bright knight had to fight against the evil agent. Phantom Angel was chasing after Magpie without using her magic attack because C.J. was captured by the evil crow. In that case, she found another way to stop her. She used her reversal magic to lower the crow down and saved C.J. right away. Phantom Angel caught him just in time and left Magpie fell into the sand. Masked Swordmaster gave Steven a punch and knocked him to the sand where Magpie just got out of here. But instead, she got squashed by the fallen agent and didn't move this time. C.J. immediately took a picture of the fallen villain; and then, he took many pictures of the Duo of Justice, including himself.
"That's totally awesome, way to go, nyuk!" C.J. exclaimed. "You two are, like, the legendary heroes from the story! I can't believe that I met the real magical girl and the superhero for the first time! Flick would've been jealous if I showed him this picture!"
Masked Swordmaster rolled his eyes and pursed his lips. Do I look like a superhero to you? he thought abruptly. For your information, I'm more of a magical boy, less of a superhero, dude. Although, I can't complain about this, but thank you very much!
It's been an hour after Steven and the others retreated from Triforce, it's time for C.J. to take his leave. Vicki and Robert were sad to see him go. But the beaver told them that he would come back at anytime.
"The important thing is I'll be hosting the fishing tourney on the third of Saturday in every three months," C.J. explained.
"That sounds interesting!" said Vicki happily.
"Does that mean you're taking your dad's place as the host of the fishing tourney?" Robert asked.
"That's right!" C.J. answered. "Since my dad's retiring now, I'll be the new host of this tourney! Nyuk! Nyuk!"
"H-Hey C.J., what about our challenge?" Sammy complained, as he and Jimmy got all wet after they've been through all the trouble to complete their challenge. "We've already completed it, so give us a reward before you leave!"
"Yeah, where's the reward?" Jimmy asked.
"Fine, settle down, you two..." said C.J. flatly. "I'll give each of you a reward, so here..."
C.J. handed the reward to Sammy and Jimmy and took a single picture of them, instead of multiple shots. The beaver set off with his boat and waved goodbye at the residents of Triforce. When Sammy and Jimmy opened up their rewards, all they got were the fish models which they did not pleased them. Vicki and Robert ignored their complaints as they waved at C.J. who was sailing away from the island.
