Ahsoka tried again. "Look, Master Kenobi would be completely fine with me joining in on the interrogation." Ahsoka disliked the fact that she was practically begging the clone trooper to let her in the interrogation room. The fact that she had to resort to begging was ridiculous. She was a Jedi commander!
The trooper shrugged apologetically, "Sorry Commander. General Kenobi gave strict orders that no one but himself or General Skywalker were allowed into the interrogation room. I can't let you in."
"But I'm also a Jedi, Master Kenobi probably meant just the Jedi comman…"
"Apologies, Commander." The trooper interrupted. "We were strictly told not to let you in."
Ahsoka now found herself moving as quietly as she could, doing her best not to make a sound as she crawled through the vents towards the detention center of the ship. SHe couldn't believe that her Master and Grandmaster were keeping things from her. How could she learn to be a better Jedi if they were keeping things from her?
Well, Ahsoka was ready to find out information on her own to show her stealth skills. She was so close! She just needed to make it a little bit further to be close enough to hear what the Rogue Jedi and Master Kenobi were saying.
She was so annoyed when she finally made it above the holocenter where Anakin was watching the interrogation and there was no audio? Really? But now? Now she was so close!
"My name is Luke Skywalker. My father's name is Anakin Skywalker."
Ahsoka barely had a chance to cover her mouth before a small squeak escaped.
"And my sister and Han are currently pregnant. Although they think I don't know because they haven't told anyone. I can definitely say those kids are going to be very strong force users."
Obi-Wan was still stuck on Luke's initial statement.
"Skywalker?" He stuttered out.
Luke looked a bit embarrassed. "Now you can see why I said the information I had was a bit sensitive, not to mention everything else I've told you about where I'm from."
Obi-Wan took a slight step back and sat down. He put his fingers at the crook of his nose and just rubbed. Just processing everything he just heard.
Luke awkwardly sat in the cell with his former Master, just waiting while Obi-Wan tried to keep himself from freaking out. It was a little funny that the one thing that really made Obi-Wan speechless was who Luke's father was..or is.
Obi-Wan, his hand still on his nose, just sighed. "Why does this not surprise me?"
Luke was blinked at that, it seemed like Obi-Wan was very surprised.
"Well, I don't know much about this period of my father's life, but I would have thought that my potential existence wouldn't be so surprising to you knowing that you are..close."
Luke didn't know how to feel. From the little that he spoke to Ben about his Father and the Jedi, he knew Ben and Anakin were close as master and apprentice, close enough that he would have known about anything life-changing for Anakin. Also that Ben was the one to deliver him to his Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru. And close enough that Luke saw how broken Ben was about his father's death. Then again, he did lie to him about that.
Luke realized at this point that he truly didn't know anything about Anakin, Obi-Wan, the Emperor or anything in this time. He didn't even know his own Mother's name. He never took the chance to ask Ben since he was so focused on studying the Force and training to be a Jedi like his father. And there was never a chance to speak with Vader on anything so personal. If anything, he was too scared to try the few times he saw his force ghost after Endor..
All of his feelings of abandonment increasingly fell to the forefront of his mind, and he beat himself up over the fact that he thought he could make some sort of difference in the past. What could he do? Especially since he didn't know anything.
Luke felt lost.
Luke was shaken from his thoughts as Obi-Wan answered him.
"I thought we were close too."
Oh great. Now it was awkward. Luke squirmed in his seat a little.
"Look I'm not really sure what to say. Obviously, I'm not sure when the date of my birth corresponds with your current calendar so maybe he isn't hiding anything?"
It sounded stupid as he said it out loud.
Obi-Wan looked up at Luke. "Perhaps." said Obi-Wan. "Tell me the little you do know."
"Well I know I was born on the day the Empire was created. I know the start of the Empire is not far from the current date...perhaps a couple of years or less? I know the Clone Wars ended with the birth of the empire."
"This is troubling," said Obi-Wan.
"And thinking about it now, perhaps it's not the best plan, but we were thinking maybe we can actually make a difference since we are in the past and keep the Empire from existing in the first place."
"My dear Luke, I don't think you understand the kind of complications your course of actions could create. Terrible things happen to Jedi who meddle with time."
The last thing Ahsoka suspected to hear from the interrogation room was Luke's name. A rogue sect of Jedi maybe? Crazy hermit Sith deciding to come out of the woodwork in the middle of a war. Possibly? Someone claiming to be Anakin Skywalker's son? A someone who is definitely older than him. Definitely not. Not at all!
This Luke kept going on and on about an Empire and the Jedi being gone. Which is impossible. The Jedi and the Republic have been around for over a millenia. There was no way. This guy was definitely off his head.
What's worse was that she convinced Rex and Fives to let her sneak past if she told them what she found out. And a bunch of nonsense from a crazy rogue Jedi was not going to cut it.
Until she heard it… "Terrible things have happened to Jedi who meddle with time."
Time? Time travel?
It's ridiculous to think about. Time Travel doesn't exist. If it did then the Jedi would know about it. Wouldn't they?
And the clones being a part of some Empire? And that's why these time-travelers were going off and killing Rex and Fives' brothers? That is not ok. This whole situation was not ok. This rogue was probably actually a Separatist and just gave Master Kenobi the run around.
Ahsoka realized that she lost the feeling in her arms from trying to stay still enough to hear what was going on. She started moving back toward where she came from as quickly as she could without making noise.
She needed to tell Anakin what was going on right away.
"I understand." Luke nodded. "It's happened to me. I'd seen a vision of the future and by trying to stop it I made it happen and made things worse. But this is different! The future we live in is horrible. If there is any way we can make it better, maybe it's worth it to try.
Luke took a deep breath and looked at the ceiling and then back at Obi-Wan trying to keep his emotions in check, trying to convey to Obi-Wan how serious he was.
"There has to be a reason that the Force sent us here. It can't be a coincidence that we were sent to this period of time. The last year of the Clone Wars is the catalyst of all the horrors I've lived through."
Obi-Wan looked into Luke's bright blue eyes, eyes identical to that of his former padawan's. But there was something about Luke that was different from Anakin. A sort of intensity that was similar, but felt like much more. Like the Force itself was telling him to stop and listen.
"What do you intend to do?" Obi-Wan questioned simply.
"I intend to do everything in my power to keep the Emperor from gaining his position in power. To keep the Republic from turning into an Empire. To keep the Jedi Order from being eviscerated from existence and to hope for a better future."
"Our first step was to take care of the one thing we knew was against us. We needed to take the StormTroopers out of the picture, they are the army of the Empire and without it, will be severely weakened."
Obi-Wan interrupted right then. "So you mean to say all the attacks on Republic stations throughout the Outer Rim, you and your accomplices initiated because the clones will be soldiers for the Empire?"
Luke shrugged a little self-consciously. "We didn't really have much to go on when we first got to this time. We didn't really know where we were, and we recognized their image from a news source. They look slightly different from the ones we know, a stormtrooper is a stormtrooper. We don't really have a proper timeline to work with."
"Leia, Han and I were discussing potentially reaching out to the Jedi Council as our next step. I guess this is where you come in."
Obi-Wan snorted. "Well you definitely got our attention with all your 'sabotage' excursions."
"This wasn't exactly the plan, but at least something is working out. Truthfully, I would prefer to speak to either you or Master Yoda. You're who I trust in within the Jedi."
Obi-Wan looked puzzled. "And not your own father?"
Luke at this point had refrained from telling Obi-Wan about what happened to Anakin. He knew at some point he would have to tell him, to recruit his help, but there was already so much new information for Obi-Wan to deal with at the moment. Luke would tell him soon.
Luke just answered. "There are just some things I would rather tell my master than I would tell my father."
"Help me Obi-Wan." Then Luke gives a little smile. "You're my only hope."
