Skywatcher receives the vision early in the morning, between sleep and wake. He knows he won't get much done that day, but still, he paces himself, waits until the memory of darkness and violence no longer makes his whiskers quiver.
Then he draws Firestar aside and shares that burning secret of starlight.
He looks back at this new Clan of his, the Clan he thought he would die single witness to the memory of, and lowers his head. They will not be injured in the conflict, he prays. This is a message for Firestar of ThunderClan, and he knows that he will return to the other four Clans. Why, then, has StarClan sent this to me? He wonders, but he already knows the answer when he looks within.
Firestar is breaking the cycle of looking out for one's self alone by risking his life to come here, to help bring them back to life. He has left his own Clan behind to help another in need. Now, Skywatcher must bring this message that he has nothing to do with, for another's sake. That is the most SkyClan thing, he thinks, to look out for another at our own risk. He rumbles a long, dry purr, thinking of the tales of their founder Skystar and his own selfishness. Or perhaps it is not. But we are a new SkyClan, and can choose our own path.
