The first thing that Inuyasha felt was warmth. Gentle warmth, a feeling that he could only remember from the time of his mother.

It was a calm feeling that overwhelmed his senses and covered him like a blanket. 'M-Mother?' Inuyasha thought, his hands meeting air as he tried to feel for her. 'No...it's not, but am I floating?'

His feet and hands met air as he tried to feel around for ground, 'I am floating, but how?' Inuyasha thought, as he opened his eyes and looked around, 'Where am I?'

Everywhere was a pale pink-and in that pink there was nothing. No walls, no floors, no ceilings, no trees, no grass, and no people. It was like he was all alone in this vastness of empty space that seemed to go on endlessly. 'Did I die?' Inuyasha thought, thinking back to the events leading up to this. 'I did die.' He concluded as he looked at his hands. 'There's no way I could still be alive after that unless I'm dreaming….' Looking around his surroundings once again.

'Am I dreaming?'

Suddenly a loud cry drew him out of his thoughts as it rang throughout the vast empty space. His ears twitching in response, Inuyasha immediately tried to locate the source of the sound. 'What the hell…' Inuyasha thought, 'Is that the cry of a baby? Where did the baby even come from?'

Inuyasha looked around not seeing anything in sight that could explain the sound of the baby. 'Where the hell is it?' He thought, his eyes searching for the source of the sound until he noticed a huge lump of shapeless flesh that seemed to have appeared from nowhere, floating in the middle of the vast space.

Inuyasha stared aghast at the shapeless lump as it moved like a heartbeat-emitting a violet light from within its form.

'Is that where it's coming from?' Inuyasha thought as he studied the lump of flesh in fascination and disgust. 'Why does it seem that I've seen this somewhere before?'

As Inuyasha pondered on this thought, the cries of the baby became louder than before. The child cried as if it were in pain-terrible pain-a feeling that Inuyasha could even feel from where he stood. And amongst the pain was a sense of desperation-desperation for someone...something. As if acting on instinct, Inuyasha took one, two steps towards the lump before he stopped cold in his tracks. There right before him, the shapeless lump began to suddenly take the shape of a form that he hated the most-a spider.

Flexing his claws that grew at the thought of an attack, Inuyasha snarled as he glared hatefully at the glowing spider flesh before him. "Naraku, so even in here you still continue to haunt me?"

Taking a step towards the flesh, Inuyasha growled, "Well I've had enough you Naraku and it's time that I finally end it between you and me!" Inuyasha poised his claws for an attack and yelled, "NOW DIE! IRON REAVER SOU-"

Before Inuyasha could do anything, there was a sudden movement inside the spider-shaped lump of flesh before the shadow of a tiny strangely shaped figure appeared on its surface through the glow of the violet light. Stunned, Inuyasha watched as the shadow of the tiny figure pounded from within the flesh as the sound of its pained cries grew louder and louder.

Slowly, Inuyasha retracted his hand from its attack position and brought it back by his side. He watched as the small figure continued to pound from within the flesh before sudden deep claw marks appeared on the spider-shaped lump of flesh. Inuyasha watched in horror as the claw marks made their way towards the tiny figure and sliced open the area where the figure was. Instantly, gushes of blood mixed with clear liquid came rushing out of the wound. And in the midst of it all was this incredibly small yet fragile creature whose body was encased in a small thin ball. From where it laid, the tiny creature continued to wail loud heart-wrenching cries despite its small frame.

Drawn by this, Inuyasha slowly approached the child and found himself going onto his knees, reaching to pick up the baby but stopped himself from doing so. Shocked filled amber-golden eyes took in the sight of the small baby on the ground and studied its' fragile body. Everything about the small creature's body was undeveloped the barely formed fingers on its' hands to the two little dots that on its face were in the place of eyes, to the barely formed toes of its' skinny feet.

'I-Is this my child?' Inuyasha thought, unconsciously holding his breath as he stared. 'Is this my baby?'

Inuyasha slowly extended his hands to pick up the child until it was in the palms of his hands. He watched as the baby continued to cry uncontrollably-moving its arms as much its fragile body could allow. Inuyasha felt as if someone has taken a hold of his heart as he watched the baby-his baby move in such a manner.

"Did I do this to you?" Inuyasha asked, "Am I the cause of your pain?"

The infant continued to move uncontrollably as it cried, however, it's cries lessen a bit as it opened its dot eyes. Suddenly the infant extended one of his undeveloped hands and touched its side of the thin layer of tissue that surrounded it-looking straight at Inuyasha.

Inuyasha felt his heart beating carefully at this moment, as he gently moved the infant in one of his hands, and used his free one to touch his side of the thin layer of tissue. The infant's cries died down as it continued to stare at Inuyasha. Slowly, the infant moved its hand around as if it was trying to explore the feel of the finger on the other side of the tissue. Inuyasha felt his heart clench as he watched the child stop moving its hand around and tried to grasp his finger from the other side of the thin layer of the tissue.

The vision in his eyes became cloudy as tears fell from them. Inuyasha wanted to hide his tears, but he was too overcome with grief to do so.

"I'm sorry." Inuyasha said through the midst of his tears. "I'm so sorry that I did this to you. I'm sorry."

Right there Inuyasha broke down in sobs knowing very well that he was the cause of the child's pain-the child that he had been trying to get rid of since it was first conceived. "I'm sorry." Inuyasha continued to cry.

Suddenly the pink surroundings changed into a violet color as the pink airless ground that Inuyasha had earlier walked on, morphed into a soft fleshy ground. Suddenly the ground and the violet surroundings began to move as if it were part of a heartbeat.

Slowly and without drawing the attention of the InuHanyou, Inuyasha's body began to float. His body settling into a fetal position as he gently cradled the infant close to his body- close to his heart. Inuyasha continued to cry but this time whispered his apologies over and over again, and the infant fell asleep to them.

It was in this state that Kagura and Kanna found Inuyasha in, as they loomed over his unconscious body. Inuyasha was clothed from his shoulders to his waist while his legs remained free from his pants. His body was now cleaned from his earlier activities with the spider demon body and was laying in a soft futon. However, instead of his body lying flat on his back, Inuyasha laid sideways in a fetal position with his arms wrapped around his stomach and tears streaming sideways on his face.

"I'm sorry….I'm sorry…" He whispered repeatedly.

Kagura and Kanna watched the InuHanyou in silence before the door to the room slid open as Naraku entered the room.

"Has Inuyasha awakened yet?" Naraku asked, walking towards the part of the room where his two incarnations sat near his fallen prisoner.

"No, he's still unconscious but what do you make of this Naraku?" Kagura asked, tearing her eyes away from the InuHanyou to look at her Master. "He keeps apologizing over and over again but shows no sign of waking up. You would think he's sorry for almost killing the child, but why would he?"

"Hm..." Naraku said, "Is that so…" Saying this not as a question but as a statement as he took in the state of the unconscious Inu-Hanyou.

"I'm sorry….I'm sorry..."

"How Interesting."

Inuyasha woke up with a start as he quickly sat up and looked around the room. He felt a slight pain in his abdominal area and looked at it. However, before he could touch it, a voice spoke.

"So you're finally awake?"

Inuyasha's ears twitched at the voice of his enemy causing him to look in his direction. There, Naraku stood by the door of the room, leaning on the wall as the spider demon's crimson eyes never left his body.

At the sight of his enemy, Inuyasha's body relaxed a little, and gently rubbed his abdominal area with one of his hands.

"Is the baby alright?" Inuyasha asked, with soft eyes downcasted towards his abdominal area.

"Now you care about the child." Naraku sneered, as he walked towards Inuyasha.

"Fortunately for you, the child will be alright." Naraku said, "However if this were to happen again, I'm not sure if the child will be so lucky-neither will you." Saying the last part as he narrowed his eyes at the InuHanyou.

As if he didn't hear the possibility of future danger in the other's words, Inuyasha nodded as he continued to rub his abdominal area.

His eyes never leaving the InuHanyou beside him, Naraku spoke, "Inuyasha." Watching how his captive's ears twitched at his, the sound of his voice while the InuHanyou kept its eyes downcasted below. "It's time for you to come to an understanding about your situation here. If by chance you succeed in killing this child next time. I'll just simply impregnate you again until a child made from the both of us has been born. Am I understood?"

"Yes."

"Don't think for a second that you will ever be free of me, for I hold your life in my very hands and if for any reason your existence becomes a bother to me, you will die. Am I understood Inuyasha?"

"..."

"Inuyasha." Naraku said, his voice sounding as promising as his threat. "Do you or do you not understand me?"

"I do," Inuyasha said, keeping one hand on his abdomen while he clenched the other one into a fist by his side. "I understand Naraku."

"Good." Naraku said as he stared at the InuHanyou for a few more moments before he began to move away. He reached the door of the room, slid it open and stopped.

"Tomorrow, Kanna will fetch a healer to see how well your pregnancy is coming along. During the visit, I expect you to be on your best behavior. Am I understood?" Naraku said, glancing at InuHanyou with cold eyes.

"Yes." Came the reply.

Naraku gave Inuyasha another hard look before leaving and closing the door behind where he sat, Inuyasha could hear the guards going back into place outside the door. Reminding him of the reality he now lived in.

With a sigh, Inuyasha kept his eyes on his abdominal area and began to rub it. "Normally, I would've used my claws against Naraku to show how much of a rat's ass I give about his threats, but for your sake, I didn't. I'm willing to put up with anything and anyone—including your father—to make sure that you are safe and out of harm's way."

Inuyasha's hand went still on his stomach as he spoke the words that vibrated from the bottom of his heart, " "That includes protecting you from me. I will never hurt you again. You have my word."

A soft smile appeared on Inuyasha's face, as he kept his hand on his abdominal area.
