Chapter 11: Choose
Thomas watches as Kodi falls down to the ground as the car takes a turn down a road away from the house and town. "Officer! Where are we going?" Thomas said, looking at the officer from the back seat. The officer chuckled before stopping the car and turning and looking at Thomas. "Hey kid," Issac said with a dark smile. "Issac! What are you doing?! Let me go!" Thomas growled through his teeth. "I thought you would say that, but hey let's talk while we're here," Isaac said before taking a drink of coffee. "You asshole! Let me go! Kodi's hurt and needs me!" Thomas said trying to break free from his handcuffs. "Nah, you see I really wanted to talk to you about what you did to help yourself from me," Issac said with a smile. "What? Jealous about that little trick I did while fighting you?" Thomas said with a chuckle.
Issac laughed as he shook his head. "I've seen more impressive things than that! But I'll give you credit for creativity," Issac said while taking another drink of coffee. "Great! Now can I leave!" Thomas barked still trying to get out of the handcuffs. "You really care for that dog, don't you? I mean the last seeker of the stones also cared for their wolf but he was much wiser than you," Issac said. "Again with the other seeker! I get it he was better than me!" Thomas groaned sitting back in his seat. "Yeah, such a shame he and his white wolf passed away before the events of the first serum run," Issac said before drinking the last of his coffee.
"Wait… before the serum run? Who was this man? And the wolf who was he?" Thomas asked looking at Issac. "She! The wolf was a she!" Issac corrected Thomas before speaking again. "It was a few years before the serum run and well some things happened and Blah blah blah before your time as a seeker for the stones… but I can tell you one thing about the wolf… she had a litter of pups and well her youngest son was the only one who survived and blah blah blah… long story short… he's the father of your little dog Kodi," Issac explained. "Balto was her son?" Thomas asked surprised. "Um yes! Now your all caught up in history class!" Issac said now clapping. "Too bad they weren't around to save your mother from being sick," Issac said looking at Thomas with a dark smile. Thomas was shocked to hear this. "What do you mean by that?" Thomas asked feeling sadness running through his body. "I mean, if the last seeker of the stones and Aniu, yeah that was her name. We're still alive during that time then they could've saved everyone a lot faster," Issac explained. "Why are you telling me this?" Thomas asked feeling a tear run down his cheek.
"I'm telling you this because… you can choose whether who lives and who dies with your stones," Issac said with a smile. Thomas shook his head. "I don't want that responsibility!" Thomas shouted. "Oh, you do! And you'll have to choose someday," Issac said as he snapped his fingers. The handcuffs came off and the car door opened. "One day you'll have to choose who lives and who dies," Isaac said smiling. Thomas shook his head before getting out of the car. "Oh, and Thomas!" Isaac said making Thomas stop and turn and look at him. "Just be careful of what you choose," Isaac said as he snapped his fingers again. A bright light shined blinding Thomas. Once Thomas was able to see again, Isaac and the police cruiser were gone. "I really hate that guy," Thomas said to himself before taking off back home.
Soon after Thomas was taking away by Isaac in disguise Alan picks up Kodi and takes him into town to get his wounds checked on. Dusty and her sons were with her waiting on how their mate and father were doing. Dusty let out a sigh as she paced back and forth. "I'm sure dad's fine mom," Jack said while watching his mother worry. Dusty sighs before turning to her three boys. "You're right if anything he's like your grandfather and can take on anything," Dusty said catching her breath. All three of her sons nodded. Alan walked out of the vet's office and looked at Dusty. "He's going to be alright just some bruising and cuts, but he'll live," Alan explained. Dusty let out a sigh of relief. "I know dad would be okay!" Nova said out loud.
Suddenly Alan's phone started to ring. "Hello?" Alan said as he answered the phone. "Thomas!" Alan said on the phone. Dusty and her son's all looked at Alan. "is Uncle Thomas okay?" Nova asked looking to his older brothers. "I don't know," Jack said looking to his brother then back at Alan. "Alright son just be careful," Alan said as he hung up the phone. Alan sighed as he looked turned and looked at Dusty and her son's. "Thomas is alright, but my boss is really behind this," Alan said as he sat down in a chair feeling the stress from all of the things that have happened in the past few hours. The Vet then opens the door and walks over to Alan. "Your son's dog is fine, is just been a little stressed out," The vet explained. Dusty sighed with relief. "I knew dad would be alright!" Nova cheered. "Just let him get some rest and he should be just fine," The vet said with a smile. Alan nodded as he went into the room to get Kodi. "I just hope Uncle Thomas is doing okay," Eli said looking to his family. "I sure hope so too son," Dusty replied.
(Meanwhile)
Berry and Ozzy sit on top of a coffee shop talking. "I can't believe I did this to my friends… my family…" Berry said as he looked down. "Look on the bright side," Ozzy said with a purr. "What bright side?" Berry said looking at Ozzy. Ozzy then lost his purr and looked at Berry. "Um… well…" Ozzy tried to find the words but couldn't. "I thought so," Berry said as he laid on his back. "Berry!" Thomas shouted from the streets of Nome. Berry perked up and looked down at the streets of Nome. "Thomas?" Berry said as he jumped down from the shop's roof. Ozzy also joined Berry and made their way down. "Thomas?" Berry said from behind Thomas. "Berry!" Thomas said as he ran over to Berry and picked him out and hugged. "Heh, I missed you too buddy," Berry said. "Look, I'm sorry how things turned out," Thomas said.
"Where is everyone else?" Berry asked. "Kodi's hurt and needs our help," Thomas said Berry was surprised by that. "Then what are we waiting for? let's go!" Berry said as he jumped on Thomas's shoulder. Ozzy also jumped into Thomas's arms and then they were on their way to the vet's office.
