"Remember how Batman saved me?" Joker nodded. "Well, Batman is..."

"Stop." his voice sounded strange to her, panicked almost.

"You need to know the truth. All of it."

He turned his back to her, she didn't dare move. Tessa waited for him to decide. Finally after what seemed like hours, though it was less than a minute, he turned back. "Don't say another word about it right now." he moved down to look at her, face to face. "Let's just get you to the hospital, and get the baby back, hmm?" he kissed her lightly, "Then we figure out the rest."

She nodded, not knowing what else to say. He carried her to the car and had one of his guys drive them to the hospital. They sat in the back seat of the car together. She still ached all over and felt weak and shaky. She leaned her head on his shoulder it seemed to weigh a ton and took a deep breath. The familiar smell of him was comforting.

"It's a boy."

He hummed. She continued talking, "What should we name him?"

He looked down at her now. "What names do you like?" his hand was on hers, his thumb rubbing soft circles on her skin.

"I don't know. Any you are partial to?" her eyes felt heavy, her lips slightly numb tingling lightly.

"Anything but Bruce."

She laughed. The movement hurt. "I like Vincent."

"Vincent?"

"Mhm." she was feeling light headed.

"Vincent is nice." his voice sounded far away, like he was talking down a tunnel.

Tessa woke up in Gotham General. She had been admitted instantly and checked out. The doc had to give her a few stitches inside her. She had lost a bit too much blood, but she was healthy. She told the hospital what had happened and the police were there within a half hour. She had given her statement. The detective looked at her with a mixture of pity and disbelief. She had written out a statement with a shaking hand. They had put out an Amber alert instantly. Tessa smiled at the fact Harley's face was out there. She had a chance to get her baby back.

The guy Joker had drive them to the hospital, had made a statement to the cops. He told them he found her on the side of the road, by the storage buildings. The police had found the lovely trail of blood leading them back to the storage unit. Inside, they had found everything they needed to corroborate her side of the story.

Bruce had called her back on the cell phone that Joker had given her, the one she had called him from before. She burst into tears as he explained that Harley had been spotted in Bludhaven. She told the detective and they reassured her that they had contacted the police department there.

Now she was waiting. She was allowed to pace her room, once she had held down food and no longer felt dizzy. Boy was she was pacing, the room was about 8 steps across, if she paced the long way, she could get in 12 steps. She had walked the route obsessively, the movement helped with the soreness of having given birth. She was deep in thought, hating that the entire experience had been so awful. Her phone rang, she grabbed it, not bothering to see who it was.

"Hello?"

"Any news?" It was Joker.

"She'd been spotted in Bludhaven with the baby. That's all I know right now."

The line was silent. "Are you okay?"

She couldn't stop the smile. "Yea, I'll be released in the morning."

"You scared me when you passed out in the car."

"This entire last year makes me think I might be harder to kill than most people."

"I knew you were special, like me."

She laughed now. She wanted him there with her. Her mind was in that strange place again and she just wanted him, and her baby. Well no, that's not all she wanted.

"I want her dead." she whispered into the phone.

"I know. First things first." She loved him, he didn't make her feel like she was crazy, he accepted what she said, without judgement. There was a sharp knock on her door.

"I gotta go." She hung up. "Come in."

It was the detective from earlier. Her heart was suddenly in her throat. She felt sick to her stomach as the man stepped inside and a woman followed. He looked upset, she froze, waiting for whatever he was about to tell her.

"Tessa, we have good news, we have your baby, he's fine, at the hospital in Bludhaven getting checked out. Once they have the all clear he will be brought here."

She nearly collapsed, her knees weak. She leaned on the bed and looked up at the detective, "And Harley?"

He frowned at her. "She had dropped him off at a fire station and sped away. We are still looking for her."

She was so full of warring emotions. Her baby was safe. He was alive and safe. She would have him with her soon. She felt a tear slide free from her eyes. It felt like fire as it rolled down her cheek. Harley was still out there, she was still alive. Tessa had never felt hate for another person before. It was a strange feeling. She had disliked people, but never had she wished death on a person. It felt like a pool of lava was bubbling in her belly.

The hate kept her from breaking down into a mess of tears and snot. She would cry later, now was a time for hate.

"Thank you detective. I could never repay you for getting my baby back to me."

"It's part of the job. I will keep you informed for when we find Dr. Quinzel."

"Yes, thank you. If it's alright, I want to rest now, I need to be ready for my baby."

"Absolutely."

She watched the two leave the room and she moved to the phone again. She called Joker back.

"Well?" he said.

"He's safe but Harley got away."

"Don't worry about her, let me take care of that. You get the baby and come home."

"I will get the baby and I will take him home, my home, that hasn't changed." she heard him almost growl. "I'll let you know when we get there."

"Tessa."

"We talked about this. I will see you later. I love you." She hung up.

She moved to the shower, trying to clean the medicine smell from her body. She needed to be ready for her baby.
