Mr. Billy's Wild Ride

The student body of Angel Grove High gathered in the gymnasium for the Homecoming Pep Rally. Every student and faculty member were wearing some form of the school colors, purple and gold, in support for the school. Fastball's "You're An Ocean" blasted over the speakers as the Tigers Dance Team, led by Rocky and Emma, performed their routine. The team of about fifteen students wore similar looking uniforms. The males wore deep purple t-shirts and matching pants with gold lines down the legs and the word 'Tigers' written across the chest in gold letters, along with purple and gold accented sneakers. While the females wore tight purple tank tops and pants, which also had gold lines and the word 'Tigers' in glittering gold across the chest, and matching purple and gold sneakers, and they also wore sparkling purple eyeshadow and gold lip gloss.

Off to the side, Adam and Tommy sat with the rest of the football team, donning deep purple jerseys with their respective numbers on the front and back, as well as their last names on the upper back, all in gold coloring. Tanya stood a few feet away, behind a video camera, recording the performance, wearing a tank top similar to the dance team girls, only the color was inverted, with a pair of dark jeans and yellow flower wedges.

Towards the last run of the chorus, the six dance team seniors stepped forward and continued the routine on their own. Emma and Rocky exchanged glances every chance they could, grinning ear to ear. The three girls stood in front of their male partners, who then lifted them into the air and tossed them up, before catching them just as the final chords of the song played.

"Go, Tigers!" Emma and Rocky shouted, along with the rest of the team, as they stood back-to-back with one arm raised up and the other at their sides.

Everyone jumped to their feet and applauded as the lights came back on and Principal Caplan walked to the center of the court. "Thank you Tigers Dance Team for that wonderful routine. Way to motivate everyone for the big game tonight." he praised, turning to the group of students. "Once again that routine was choreographed by our senior co-captains, Rocky DeSantos and Emma Gilbert." Another round of applause sounded as the two aforementioned teens smiled and wrapped their arms around eachother's shoulders.

Caplan cleared his throat, "Now, on to the next order of business, the spirit awards from this past Homecoming Week." he continued. "Starting with Monday's theme, Pajama Day..."

The five Rangers met up after the Homecoming Rally, Adam slapping a high-five with Rocky, "That routine was awesome guys." he complimented, giving Emma a hug next.

"Thanks." Rocky sighed heavily, slinging his dark blue gym duffle over his shoulder. "Weeks of practice finally paid off. Right Em?"

"Totally." the blonde agreed, taking a swig from her water bottle. Emma and Rocky were both wearing their dance team windbreakers and windpants over their performance uniforms. "Tonight's gonna be awesome."

"I just hope I don't pass out at the dance after the game." Rocky noted. "Jennifer might kill me if I do."

"Right, I almost forgot about the dance." Adam said.

"Well we didn't." Tanya giggled. "Right Em?"

"Right." Emma chuckled. "We bought our dresses a couple weeks ago." The two girls slapped a high five and shared a smile.

"Guess Adam and I are gonna have the prettiest partners on the dancefloor tonight." Tommy pointed out, sharing a look with his teammate.

"Couldn't agree more." Adam nodded, glancing to Tanya.

"Thanks again for agreeing to go with us." Emma said, glancing from Adam to Tommy, who had agreed to be her 'date' for the evening.

"Hey, that's what friends are for." Tommy replied, wrapping his arm around Emma's shoulders.

Adam did the same with Tanya, "Are you two gonna give us a hint as to what you're wearing tonight?" he asked.

"Something yellow and pink." Tanya joked, her and Emma giggling. "Something long and short."

"With straps, without straps." Emma added on with a laugh. She checked the time on her phone and her eyes lit up. "It's almost time."

"Time for what?" Rocky asked as the group of five stopped in the parking lot.

"Time for Billy to come back." Emma answered, slipping her cell back into her purse. "He should be nearing Earth by now."

"Right, he'll be home before we know it." Tommy added with a smile.

"And with time to spare before the game." Adam grinned.

"Let's teleport to the Power Chamber and wait for him." Rocky voted, which was followed by a chorus of "yeahs" from the other four Rangers.

The five teens ran to the back of the school far from the eyes of the other students. However, just as they were about to activate the teleportation function on their communicators, they heard the voices of an all-to familiar duo.

Bulk and Skull walked towards the Rangers, both dressed like they were going on Safari. The two were talking amongst themselves with their faces buried in a map, that they didn't even notice they were about to collide with Rocky.

"Hey!" Rocky called out. "Careful. Watch where you're goin'."

Bulk and Skull looked up from the map. "Excuse us, but we know exactly where we're going." Bulk informed, and the five Rangers exchanged a glance.

"That's right." Skull added. "As part of our special training, Lieutenant Stone is having us take a course in, Orienteering." he held up a bright green compass and the map.

Bulk nodded in agreement, "We can find our way home using a compass, a map, and our wits."

"Well, one piece of advice, stay close to home." Rocky told them, earning light chuckles from the other four Rangers.

Bulk and Skull just brushed off the remark and glanced at the compass, "What do you say, Skully ol' boy? Shall we head west?" he glanced to his friend.

"West it is." Skull agreed, the two marching forward, heading towards the forest.

"That's not going to end well." Tanya noted with a shake of her head.

"You can say that again." Adam agreed with a nod.

"Let's just get to the Power Chamber." Emma voted. "I can't wait to see my cousin again." Making sure the coast was clear, the five teens activated the teleportation function and disappeared in a flash of color.

In bright flashes, the Rangers appeared in their Power Chamber, startling Alpha-5 who was also anxiously awaiting to hear from the former Ranger. "Yikes Rangers, you startled me." Alpha jumped. He cocked his head to the side, "You guys look...different. Not wearing your usual colors."

"It's Homecoming Alpha." Tanya reminded. "We're dressing in our school colors to show support for the team for the game tonight."

"It's a high-school thing." Emma added, tapping her nails on the console. "Any word from Billy yet?"

"Not yet." Alpha answered, turning a couple of dials. "I'm trying to locate his spacecraft now." The robot punched a few more buttons and a small blip appeared on the radar. "There he is!"

"All right!" everyone cheered. "Billy's gonna be home before we know it." Emma clasped her hands together and couldn't help but smile at the thought of seeing her cousin again.

However, the Rangers weren't the only ones tracking the spacecraft bound for Earth. "Billy's spacecraft is almost within range." Klank informed.

"Our coordinates are locked in." added Orbus.

"Very good." praised King Mondo. "Once his craft is disabled, he will float right up to our royal doors."

"And once we have him, the Rangers will have no choice but to give in to our demands." Sprocket cheered, waving his arms in the air.

"Prepare to fire!" Mondo ordered his two henchmen.

Down in the Power Chamber, Alpha was busy fine tuning the transmission frequency so they could communicate with Billy once he came within range. Soon, the former Ranger's voice came over the speaker system, "Billy to the Power Chamber, you read me?"

A grin spread across Emma's face as she heard her cousin's voice. She slapped a high-five with Tanya and Tommy, "We read you loud and clear, cuz." she responded. "Welcome home."

"Thanks Em." Billy replied, a smile on his face.

Alpha-5 turned a few more dials and Billy's image appeared on the Viewing Globe. "It's great to see ya, buddy." Tommy added.

Billy flipped a few switches in his spacecraft, preparing to reenter Earth's gravity "You have no idea how good you guys sound. Man, I even miss Bulk and Skull." That comment earned chuckles from the Rangers. "I can't wait to get back." he sighed. "First thing I want, is one of your smoothies Em."

"Well, hurry up and get back so I can make you one before the game tonight." Emma replied over the transmission.

As the spacecraft flew within range, the Machine Empire fired their photon blaster, which struck Billy's ship dead-on. The hit was enough to knock out the transmission, cutting off the signal between Billy and the Rangers.

"Zordon, what happened?" Emma asked when the transmission abuptly ended and all that was coming through the speakers was static. "Alpha?" Her blue eyes reflected worry.

"Something is interfering with the signal." Alpha informed as he was trying to retrieve said signal.

Emma took a step back from the main console and clasped her hands together, taking slow breaths, her eyes fixated on the Viewing Globe. "Don't worry Emma." Tommy assured, placing his hand on her shoulder, "We'll get the signal back, and Billy will be just fine."

The blonde glanced up at him and nodded, reaching up to place her hand on top of his. "Yeah." she muttered.

The Machine Empire fired a second shot from their photon blaster, and it was enough to knock the small spacecraft out of it's trajectory towards Earth and knock it into the gravitational pull of the moon instead.

"Right on the money!" cheered Sprocket, who jumped up and down in excitement.

"Perfect shot, my darling." chuckled Queen Machina in praise.

"Now, we must prepare for our victory." noted King Mondo. "And the annihilation of the Power Rangers."

The five Rangers stood around Alpha as he was frantically trying to reach Billy's spacecraft. "Zordon, what happened?" Tanya asked.

"I am afraid that Billy's ship has lost all maneuvering capabilities." Zordon answered.

Alpha turned a few more dials, "Wait!" he shouted, "Something is coming in over the audio channel."

After a bit more fine tuning, Billy's voice came over the speakers, much to the relief of the Rangers. "Billy to Zordon, can you read me? Billy to Zordon."

"We read you Billy." Zordon relayed. "Can you hear us?"

"I hear you." Billy answered, sighing in relief once his craft stopped spiraling. "I'm alright."

He heard a collective sigh over the transmission, "Good." Tommy said. "What happened to you?"

"I don't know. Something hit me hard." Billy replied, checking his systems. "All of my systems are down and I've vented almost all my oxygen reserves. My thrusters are offline, and it's starting to get cold. My heaters are down as well."

Down in the Power Chamber, the five Rangers exchanged worried glances. And what Billy told them next, was enough to make their worry turn to fear, "Guys, I can't navigate." their friend's voice was laced with a hint of fear.

Emma bit her lip and reached out for the hand closest to hers, interlocking their fingers and giving it a squeeze. It wasn't until she glanced beside her that she realized the hand she grabbed was Tommy's.

"Can we get a directional fix on him?" Adam asked, glancing up to Zordon.

"It's not good Rangers." their mentor answered. "It appears his ship is heading straight for the Machine Skybase."

"He has to turn around." Tanya noted, exchanging a glance with Adam.

"If they get a hold of him." Emma started to say, before taking a shuddering breath.

"That's not gonna happen." Tommy reassured the blonde, giving her hand a squeeze. Using his free hand, he turned the two-way communication back on, "Look Billy, we need to find a way to turn you around. You're heading right for the Machine Skybase."

"Billy, do you have any control at all?" Zordon asked.

"None." he answered. "And in about five minutes, I'll hit their gravity and get pulled in, but I'll get out and push before that happens." That comment gave Billy an idea, "Wait, that's it. If you guys can push me out of this trajectory, I just might have a chance."

"Alpha, raise the remote tractor beam." Zordon ordered.

"Of course, we'll use it to push Billy back towards us." Alpha followed. "I just need to punch in the coordinates."

As Alpha-5 was doing his part, Adam, Tanya, Emma, and Rocky helped out.

"Coordinates locked on." Emma stated.

"Tractor beam position set." Tanya followed.

"Power's up." Adam relayed.

"Tractor beam ready to fire." Rocky shouted.

However, the Machine Empire were monitoring the Power Chamber and their efforts to help rescue Billy. "Their tractor beam is no match for my photon blaster." Mondo boasted. "Fire again, this time target the Rangers' tractor beam!"

"My pleasure daddy." Sprocket replied. "The Rangers are in for a surprise." the young machine chuckled.

"Guys, uh, you mind speeding things up?" Billy questioned over the communication system. "My oxygen level's dropping faster than I thought. Pretty soon I'll be holding my breath."

Tommy stood in the center of the Power Chamber, "On my command...Fire!" he ordered, and Alpha activated the tractor beam.

At the same moment the Rangers' tractor beam fired, Prince Sprocket fired the Machine Empire's photon blaster. When the two blasts collided, the recoil not only fried some of the Power Chamber's systems, but it also knocked Billy's spacecraft on a different trajectory away from the moon.

The recoil from the two blasts knocked the Rangers to the ground and caused some sparks to fly from their consoles. It took the five teenagers a few minutes to shake off the attack and get back on their feet.

"What was that?" Rocky groaned, rubbing the back of his head.

"Did the tractor beam work?" Emma asked, looking up at the plasma tube. "Is Billy alright?"

When Zordon didn't answer right away, the Rangers grew even more worried. "Zordon, tell us what happened." Tommy pleaded, standing beside Emma.

"It's not good news, Rangers." their mentor stated. "Something from the Machine Skybase intercepted our beam, and the collision has pushed Billy into a new orbit."

"A new orbit?" Tanya repeated, glancing between Rocky and Adam.

"To where?" Adam asked.

"It appears that Billy is now on a direct collision course with the sun." Zordon answered grimly.

Emma let out a shuddering breath and lowered her head, her hair falling over her shoulders. Tommy reached over and rubbed her shoulder, trying to give her some comfort.

"Uh, guys." Billy's voice said over the communication system. "I know I said I was getting a little cold, but this isn't what I had in mind." He cast a worried glance out the window, seeing how close the sun was getting.

"Ay-yi-yi-yi Rangers." Alpha cried as he walked back into the Power Chamber, holding something out for them to see, "Things may have just gotten worse."

"What is it, Alpha?" Tanya asked, her and the others scared to actually know the answer.

"That explosion crystallized our fuel cell." the small robot informed. "I'm afraid we won't be able to fire it again."

"Well, can we replace it?" Rocky suggested.

"Only if we can locate the replacement cells." Alpha replied.

Billy's voice came over the communication line again, "Could you guys speed things up?" he asked. "My heat shields won't last much longer."

"Hang on man, we're not gonna let you down." Tommy assured. "We just need to get a hold of the replacement fuel cells."

"I think I stored them in one of the university warehouses." Billy informed.

"Well what are we waiting for?" Tanya looked to the others. "Let's get going."

"Rangers." Zordon halted. "King Mondo will most likely send forces to intercept you. Be prepared for battle."

The five teenagers exchanged looks and nodded, activating their Zeonizers.

"Zeo Ranger I, Pink!"

"Zeo Ranger II, Yellow!"

"Zeo Ranger III, Blue!"

"Zeo Ranger IV, Green!"

"Zeo Ranger V, Red!"

The five Rangers teleported to the warehouses and checked their surroundings. Of course, King Mondo wasn't gonna let them get what they needed and sent down a dozen Cogs and the Mechanizer monster.

"Your heroic days are over Rangers." Klank taunted, before ordering the Cogs to attack.

"We've heard that before." The Red Ranger chuckled, leading his team into battle.

The Rangers held the Cogs at bay for as long as they could, but the Rangers knew they had little time to waste on a fight. "We need to find those fuel cells." the Green Ranger reminded as he and the Yellow Ranger kicked back a few Cogs.

"You guys go, we'll hold them off." the Blue Ranger said, glancing to the Red and Pink Rangers before knocking a pair of Cogs through the wall.

"Thanks Rocky." the Red Ranger gave a thumbs up, turning to his teammate, "Let's go Em."

"Right." the Pink Ranger gave a nod and followed the team leader deeper into the warehouse.

Out of their blind spot, Mechanizer attacked and knocked the both of them into a pile of boxes. "Splendid job, Mechanizer." Klank praised from afar. "If you destroy the Rangers, King Mondo will give you a handsome reward."

"I don't care about any of that." the piranha-like robot replied. "I just want to destroy." Mechanizer went in for another attack, keeping the Pink and Red Rangers on their toes. "I will start with you."

Mechanizer lunged at the Pink Ranger, who flung her palm out and covered part of the monster's face in ice. "Yeah, I don't think so." she scoffed, jumping into the air and kicking Mechanizer, which sent him flying back into a wall.

"Nice one, Em." Zeo Ranger V praised, preparing a fighting stance alongside his pink-clad teammate as the monster got back on its feet. The rest of the Rangers joined in after beating the rest of the Cogs.

"Feel the fury of my laser blasters." Mechanizer growled, firing a lightning-like blaster, which the Rangers dodged. However, the blast struck a container which erupted into flames.

"Mechanizer, destroy the building!" Klank ordered before he and Orbus teleported back up to the skybase.

"We have to find those fuel cells before the entire building goes up in flames." the Yellow Ranger pointed out.

"You guys get out of here, I'll get the fuel cells." the Pink Ranger shouted, running deeper into the building, ignoring the protests of her friends.

Another explosion sounded and the building began to shake as parts of it began to crumble. The Yellow, Blue, and Green Rangers ran out and jumped over the second story railing, narrowly escaping being crushed under some falling debris. Once they hit the ground, they de-morphed.

"Everyone alright?" Rocky asked, glancing between his two teammates. That's when they all realized they were two Rangers short.

"Where's Tommy and Emma?" Adam questioned, looking around.

"They must still be inside." Tanya guessed. "Emma did say she was going to get the fuel cells." The three teenagers looked up, just hoping to see their two friends make it out in time.

The warehouse was quickly filling with smoke, and the Pink Ranger tore open a large box. "Yes, got it!" she giggled, pulling out a fuel cell.

"Emma!" the Red Ranger called out, running to her. "Emma, you alright?"

"Yeah." she nodded. "And I've got the fuel cell."

"Alright, let's get outta here." Zeo Ranger V voted.

The two Rangers kept close together as they ran towards the exit, narrowly missing more falling debris. Another explosion sounded and the pair barely made it outside before their last exit collapsed. They jumped over the railing and flipped in mid-air, demorphing as they landed on the ground.

"Well, that was a bit exhilarating." Emma chuckled, glancing up at Tommy, who nodded in agreement. "Now, let's get this back to Alpha so he can install it, and we can bring Billy home." She looked at fuel cell she was holding tightly against her chest.

"The fuel cell is in place." Alpha announced as he entered the Power Chamber, and the Rangers scrambled to get everything ready. "Hurry Rangers, we only have time for a single shot."

Adam set the coordinates as Rocky powered up the tractor beam, while Tanya worked on locking the beam onto the coordinates. Emma tried to align the dish, but an error message kept popping up. "Oh come on." the blonde grumbled, but again the same error message appeared. "Damnit."

"What's wrong, Em?" Tommy asked, running up behind her.

"I can't align the dish." Emma answered, slamming her hand down on the console.

"The blast from King Mondo's last attack must've fused the motor." Zordon deduced. "We can't align the tractor beam from here."

"Then I'll just have to do it manually." Tommy concluded, glancing to Adam. "Be ready to fire on my command."

"Got it." Adam nodded.

"Okay." Tommy activated the teleportation function on his communicator and teleported to the base of the tractor beam.

Before he could get close, a group of Quadrafighters flew down and began firing on the mountainside. Tommy dodged the blasts to the best of his ability, but lost his footing and slid over the edge. He grabbed hold of the ledge and chanced a glance down, realizing it was a long way to the ground.

The rest of the Rangers watched this unfold on the Viewing Globe, and Emma narrowed her eyes. "I'm gonna go help him." she told the others, taking a few steps back.

"Emma, all due respect, are you out of your mermaid mind?!" Rocky shouted. "You can't take on all those Quadrafighters by yourself."

"Yes I can." the blonde retorted, activating the teleportation function on her communicator. "Remember, I'm the only one of us who's got powers when they're not morphed. I got this, just be ready to fire that beam when we give you the signal."

In a bright flash of pink light, Emma was on the mountainside and ducked to avoid being blasted. She dove behind a large boulder and held her palm to the sky, and focused her powers, and soon two of the Quadrafighter jets were covered in a sheet of ice and crashed into eachother.

"Take that Mondo." the blonde chuckled, a smirk crossing her lips. She made her way down and stopped shy of the ledge, getting on her knees and looking over, "Need a hand?"

"Emma?" Tommy questioned, shocked to see her. Emma just smiled and grabbed his hand, helping him up. She fisted the fabric of his shirt and leaned back as Tommy pulled himself up the rest of the way, finding a narrow foothold. With one last push, Tommy fell into Emma and knocked her on her back, their faces inches from one another's.

Tommy pushed himself up onto his knees and helped Emma, the two clearing their throats. The sound of the Quadrafighter's jets caught their attention as they came around for another series of attacks. Tommy grabbed Emma's hand and the two ran up towards the tractor beam at the top of the mountain as the mechanical footsoldiers fired at them.

When they stopped at the base of the dish, Emma let her hand fall from Tommy's and turned to face the machines coming right at them. She took a deep breath and let the wind blow through her hair as she flexed her fingers, twisting her wrist ever so slightly, the wind suddenly changing direction and increasing in speed. Her eyes flew open and she turned her wrist towards her body, the wind moving in the same direction and caused the two Quadrafighters to crash into eachother.

The rest of the Rangers watched via the Viewing Globe as Emma uses her mermaid powers to deal with Mondo's forces. "You go girl!" Tanya cheered.

"That's our Emma." Rocky grinned, slapping a high-five with Adam.

Tommy and Emma worked together to try and push the leaver that controlled the tractor beam dish, but were having a bit of trouble and time was running out.

"Just a little bit more." Tommy grunted as he and Emma pushed on the leaver until it finally clicked forward.

"Yeah, we got it!" Emma sighed, looking up to see the dish move into position.

The tractor beam fired and the two teens jumped up in victory. Tommy and Emma slapped a high-five and hugged eachother, as they vanished in red and pink lights.

Emma and Tommy were teleported back to the Power Chamber, pulling apart from their hug before joining the others at the main console. Alpha turned on the two-way communication, "Billy, come in." Emma hailed. "Can you read us?" The only sound they heard was static and the blonde lowered her head.

"Try again Emma." Zordon encouraged.

The blonde nodded and tried once more, "Billy, can you read us?" she hailed again. "Billy, are you there?"

A few seconds later, a voice came over the transmission line, "I'm here, I'm alright." Billy responded, much to the relief of his friends. "That was a one in a million shot guys, thanks."

The Rangers high-fived and hugged one another in celebration, with Emma and Tommy hugging last and keeping their arms around eachother's backs.

That night Billy sat in the bleachers next to Tanya as they watched the Angel Grove and Stone Canyon game, with their team pulling ahead in points. Every time the Tigers scored, the dance team would perform a quick routine that ended with the guys tossing their female partners into the air and catching them.

When halftime rolled around, Angel Grove was up 35-17 and the football players moved to the sidelines as the dance team took the field. Since it was Homecoming, the dancers went a bit of an extra mile to show off some school spirit, some had purple and gold streaks painted in their hair, while others had football numbers painted on their cheeks.

The Tigers Dance Team stood in the center of the football field as the music blasted over the speakers and they dove into their routine that soon had everyone on their feet. As the music came to a close, the dance team struck their finishing pose, with Emma and Rocky standing front and center, back-to-back with one of their hands on their hips and the other on their knee.

The play clock was running down the thirty seconds of the game, with the Angel Grove Tigers leading by at least twenty points, but they were going for a record break this year and it looked like it was going to happen. On the sidelines, Rocky and Emma glanced to one another and clasped hands.

Just twenty yards from the end zone, Tommy called the final play and once he caught the ball, he ran right into the end zone, thus winning the game. Everyone in the stands jumped to their feet and shouted in triumph as the words 'Tigers Win!' flashed across the scoreboard. Billy and Tanya embraced and threw their fists in the air, as Rocky and Emma did the same on the sidelines. In the midst of the cheering, no one noticed two certain Junior Policemen stumble up to the fence, covered in dirt with tears in their clothes.

Adam and Tommy removed their helmets and slapped eachother's shoulders before exchanging high-fives and fist bumps with the other members of the team. They made their way to the sidelines to meet up with Rocky, Emma, Tanya, and Billy, who all congratulated them on the win.

After hugging Adam, Emma wrapped her arms around Tommy's neck, "Great job." she told him, rubbing his upper back before pulling away and brushing her bangs from her face. "Six straight wins! That's amazing!"

"That wasn't all me." Tommy reminded, "It was the team."

"Spoken like a true leader." Adam noted, lightly slapping the quarterback's shoulder.

Emma's parents came down from the stands and congratulated Tommy and Adam, and Lisa pulled out the digital camera from her purse. She motioned for the six friends to stand close together, so she could snap a photo. The six friends wrapped their arms around eachother's shoulders and smiled ear-to-ear.

A/N: Almost 1/4 of the way done, yay.
