A/N: I just want to confirm that Athena has equipped Widget as always, but in stories set in The Critique Universe including this and RWBY's Nostalgia Commentary Collection, Widget has been put in silence mode, though the Mood Matrix is still. This will be one in some instances where Widget communicates, set in the same universe.

In this twelfth game review of the story, Athena Cykes takes a look at the poor quality behind the game Master Chu and the Drunkard Hu for the NES, with a little help from her AI Widget.

Athena Cykes' Game Review of Master Chu and the Drunkard Hu

Athena said as the game review started, "Okay, Widget. This will be the first time we're gonna be reviewing a game together, and we both know we've done a lot of research on investigations and trials lately, so please be on your best behavior?"

"I'll do my best, Athena. Or better yet, maybe you should do your best, Athena.", her AI companion and personal computer Widget insisted.

The orange-haired attorney said, "That's what I thought you said...", before asking, "Hey, Widget. What are your opinions on nostalgic, classic 8-bit games?"

"Although they may act as a consumer in both time and finances, I can't see why they're very most enjoyable for most players young and old.", the artifical intelligence necklace stated to its companion.

The female lawyer then questioned, "So, do you like Nintendo? Do you think it's the powerhouse of classic gaming?"

"I do. In fact, Mario seems to be the highest selling point for the company without a doubt."

"But have you ever heard of this game called Master Chu and the Drunkard Hu?"

Widget doesn't reply to this, as it said after a moment of hesitation, "You mean the 1989 Chinese video game also named Bandit Chief in translation to its Chinese title?"

"Yeah...", Athena sighed, "So, yeah, it's a weird game, and you can just tell, just by the cartridge. And it's one of those weird baby blue cartridges, so you can tell right off the bat that it's a big piece of fucking shit.", pulling out said game with the NES cartridge.

Her AI assistant commented, "Agreed. You could tell just by looking at it, even by the title screen..."

"Anyway, the story involves a legendary siamese twin, Shiva from Hindu religion. She has filled the world with evil spirits.", summarizes the orange-haired girl.

Widget implied, "You may consider her as the game's main antagonist."

"Your best friend, Master Chu, has failed to stop them. And he's resorted to drinking, so now he's a drunk.", the female lawyer continues.

The AI companion joked, "You could see why they called it Master Chu and the Drunkard Hu.", laughing while Athena rolls her eyes and smiled down at her AI necklace.

"However, Master Chu has not given up hope. It's up to him to put an end to the evil Shiva.", synopsized Athena.

Widget playfully says, seemingly saying Athena's thought out loud; "Sounds pretty shitty."

"Hey! I was about to say that!", dismayed the orange-haired attorney before going on, "There's really only one reason to buy this game, and that's to be able to say, 'I own Master Chu and the Drunkard Hu', so people can awkardly stare at ya."

The AI added, "And then inevitable laughter will ensue. Mario is considered 100% better than this."

"Your objective each round is to locate all the yin-yang symbols in order to fight the boss.", the female lawyer informed.

Widget referenced, "Like the jigsaw pieces in Banjo-Kazooie."

"You can shoot energy outta your hand, then you can upgrade to two shots of energy at the same time. You wanna try, Widget?", offered Athena Cykes to her AI assistant.

It said, "I wish I could, but I can't."

"So what do you think of it?", the orange-haired girl said alternatively.

The blue-colored AI suddenly turned red-colored with anger, "SHIT!"

"Exactly.", agrees the female attorney, "Instead of pressing A or B to jump, like in most games, you have to press Up, sorta like in The Karate Kid. Maybe the control's so shitty because the programmers were tryin' to make Chu seem drunk. Or, they were drunk themselves! There's endless waves of spiders, snakes, and other unnameable things that come after you."

Widget says, "That sounds nearly impossible. Not to mention the graphics on the other hand..."

"What do you mean by that?", asked Athena.

Her AI assistant reminded, "Just saying. The graphics..."

"Oh yeah, a-absolutely. The best effect in this game is that when standing still, Chu's clothes wave around in the wind. Now let's talk about the sound design. It sucks! And it's the same for every stage. Just stereotypical Chinese music playing over and over in a loop.", told the orange-haired lawyer.

The personal computer necklace comments, "Very repetitive..."

"So after you beat the first level, the rest of the game is just the same repetitive thing, over and over again. I mean, it's more fun takin' a shit!", the female attorney says.

Widget then said, "Very, VERY repetitive.", turning from blue to red again.

"Each board, you collect eight yin-yang symbols, you fight the boss, and then you get the key. And by the way, the key in this game is called The Flaming Key of Freedom. Flaming, huh? Kinda like the flame whip in Simon's Quest. The boss fights aren't even challenging because all ya have to do is is stand on the platform until they turn their back, then you drop down, land a few hits, and then you repeat.", summarized Athena.

The AI says, "Now that sounds easy."

"Now you're telling me... For the last boss in the game, Shiva, I was expecting something a little better. I don't know why, but, all you get is this weird statue. And why the fuck is it green? I mean, could they have picked another putrid color but green?", mildly ranted the orange-haired girl.

The personal computer replied, "They would've."

"So after you beat the boss, you get to see the best ending in video game history. What a piece of shit!", finished the female lawyer.

Widget finally replied, "More like a waste of time."

"Okay, it looks like our review's over. Silence mode.", said Athena as she configured her AI settings to silence mode.

She then takes the game out once again and turns off the console, putting the game away as the review ends.
