We have finally reached the end of the story. I hope you all have enjoyed this story and like this ending. I really wanted this story to focus on how Olivia and Trevor started to reconcile and giving Olivia the happy ending she deserves since the writers on the show seemed to do the opposite. Thank you, to all who have stuck with this story. Well enjoy:)
Chapter 11- Epilogue
One Year Later
Trevor walked into the kitchen to find his beautiful wife and son enjoying their breakfast. To say the past year was a roller coaster of events and emotions was an understatement. With Noah being in and out of the hospital, Ms. Jackson's critical home and hospital visits, then dealing with the news that Noah's biological father is Johnny D and then having to face him in court and Olivia dealing with Nick and Amanda's issues just added more stress on him and Olivia. On top of all that, they were working on their marriage which had gotten stronger, probably even stronger before their separation. It was like being separated helped them realize what the other person meant to them and appreciate each other even more. Yes, it had definitely been a crazy year but to Trevor it was well worth it. Trevor smile grew when his wife looked up at him and returned his smile. "How are my two favorite people doing this morning?" Trevor asked as he walked over to his wife giving her a kiss before kissing the top of Noah's head who was enjoying his cheerios and berries.
"We're doing great, how about you?" Olivia asked her husband watching him as he poured himself some coffee. She would have never envision being at this point more than a year ago. Even during the last year there were moments when she thought she was going to not only lose her son but her husband too. Working on their marriage proved more of a challenge than they had initially thought, but they fought hard and it paid off. Their marriage was stronger than ever now.
Trevor turned to face his wife as he took a sip of his coffee. "Just perfect." Trevor replied answering her question.
"Mama," Noah said stretching out his little hand that housed some berries.
Olivia gave him a big smile, "Is that for me sweet boy?" Olivia cooed as she allowed Noah to put the berries in her mouth resulting in him giggling. "Thank you." Olivia said after eating the berries.
"Dada," Noah repeated the same action towards Trevor who like Olivia allowed him to feed the berries causing the toddler to giggle even more.
Olivia let out a content sigh, "I can't believe this day is finally here. We will officially be a family, Noah will be ours permanently." Olivia said as a couple of tears slipped down her cheeks.
Trevor leaned down kissing Olivia forehead, "It's been a long year, but we made it through it and will continue to make it with this little fella." Trevor said as he ruffled Noah's hair. "And this little lady in here." Trevor added as he set his free hand on the swell of Olivia's stomach where he felt his daughter kicking up a storm. Both him and Olivia had been surprised when after feeling fatigue and sick for weeks, the doctor told them that Olivia was pregnant. To say they were nervous was an understatement. They were so nervous that they had bought a Fetal Doppler and every day they check her heart rate, and this has eased their nerves a little. They just cannot wait until their daughter make it into the world safe and sound. "She is really kicking in there." Trevor added as he started to rub Olivia's stomach.
"Baby," Noah squealed excitedly as he bounced up and down in his highchair.
Olivia could not help but laugh, "Yeah, that's your baby sister in there on a sugar high." Olivia cooed and laughed even harder when she saw a confused look on Trevor's face. "I had some orange juice with my oatmeal this morning and that got her going. I realized that when I drink orange juice, she gets a sugar high." Olivia explained.
"Ahh, I guess she'll be a sugar lover when she's born." Trevor said giving Olivia's bump another rub before standing back up. "I can go get Noah dress and then we can head out to the courthouse." Trevor added as he drunk the last little bit of his coffee, setting the empty mug in the sink, before making his way back over to Noah lifting him into his arms." "Come on Noah lets go get dress." Trevor turned to his wife holding out his free hand to help her stand up. With Olivia being thirty-eight weeks pregnant she found it hard to move about lately.
"Thanks," Olivia said gratefully. "I'm going to go take a shower and get dress." Olivia said as the two made their way up stairs.
Two hours later found the trio sitting outside of Judge Lindens office, waiting to be invited in, to finalize Noah's adoption. Noah sat on Trevor's lap but was quickly getting inpatient just sitting there. Thankfully, Judge Linden's door open revealing the judge, "Sorry for the wait, come on in." Judge Linden said as she smiled at the small family.
Trevor and Olivia took the two seats that sat in front of Judge Linden's desk. Olivia watched as the Judge made her way around her desk and sat down. This was it; Noah was about to be legally theirs and no one could take him away.
Judge Linden sat forward resting her arms on her desk as she smiled at the family that was growing in front of her. "After reviewing the home studies from Ms. Jackson and taking into consideration her recommendation and from what I've observe, I am going to sign off on the adoption." Judge Linden saw the smiles on their faces grow even bigger if it was possible. "Do you Trevor and Olivia promise to love, care, and raise Noah as if he was your own flesh and blood?" Judge Linden asked.
"Yes, we do," Trevor and Olivia said together as Olivia wiped away tears that were falling down her cheeks. "This is really happening," Olivia whispered.
Linden nodded trying to hold back her own tears, she knew how hard the couple had worked to make this happen. "Yes, it is really happening." Judge Linden assured Olivia as she cleared her throat trying not to get overly emotional.
Olivia smiled gratefully at the judge as she accepted the Kleenex that the Judge offered her, "Thanks." Olivia said
Judge Linden nodded, "Congratulations guys and to you Noah Porter Langan." Linden said smiling at the toddler who seemed more interested in Trevor's tie. "Also, congrats on the new little bundle of joy that will be here soon." Judge Linden said glancing down at Olivia's stomach.
"Thanks, we cannot wait for her to arrive." Trevor replied as he grabbed Olivia's hand giving it a squeeze.
Judge Linden let out a small sigh, "I have to admit, a year ago I was worried that this wasn't going to work. I am glad I listen to my gut and ignore my mind. I am genuinely happy for you three, well actually you four." Judge Linden said as she blinked away the unshed tears that had threaten to fall.
Olivia nodded in understanding, "Honestly, we thought we weren't going to make it to this point either, but I am glad we fought through it and didn't give up." Olivia said as she looked over at Trevor and Noah.
Judge Linden took a deep breath as she stood up, "Well, I do not want to hold you three up for much longer, go and enjoy your first day officially and legally as a family."
Trevor stood up before helping Olivia stand up, "Thanks again." Trevor said as they made their way out of the Judge's office. As they stepped into the elevator lift, Olivia began to moan in pain. Trevor rubbed her back. "Another Braxton Hicks contraction?" Trevor asked only receiving a nod from her as she breathed through it. "How many have you had so far today?" Trevor asked once he saw Olivia relax.
Olivia let out one last breath before facing Trevor. "Only three, this was the third one." Olivia said as the elevator doors opened, and they stepped out of the lift.
"So, I was thinking maybe going by our favorite little German bakery and picking up some Franzbrotchen before heading home." Trevor laughed when Olivia moan at the mentioned of Franzbrotchen. "Noah, I think mommy wants to get some Franzbrotchen." Trevor said looking at Noah hearing Olivia laugh.
"We also should stop and get a milkshake." Olivia added
Trevor laughed again, "Yeah I think our little princess is going to have a sweet tooth." Trevor said as he opened the door for Olivia.
"Going to, she already has one." Olivia said as Trevor hopped into the car after getting Noah buckled into his carseat.
After stopping for milkshakes and picking up some Franzbrotchen from their favorite German bakery, they proceeded to make their way home to enjoy some much-needed family time. After pulling into the driveway Trevor put the car in park and glanced over at Olivia who was finishing up her cookie and cream milkshake. "Was it good?"
Olivia nodded in satisfaction, "Oh yeah, it was delicious." Olivia said as she drunk the last bit of her shake. Olivia turned to look at Noah and laughed. "I think someone is going to need a bath when we get inside." Noah had managed to get some of his shake all over his nice shirt and face. Yet, to Olivia he was adorable.
Trevor got out of the car and helped Olivia out, before getting Noah out also. "Come on Noah, it's bath time." Trevor said as he grabbed the Franzbrotchen and followed Olivia up to the front door. Trevor and Olivia both almost had a heart attack and Noah squealed when they entered their home to find it full of family and close friends who threw them a surprise party. "What in the world." Trevor finally said when he got over his shock.
Veronica and Alex stepped forward, "We decided to throw you a surprised party, to celebrate one year of reuniting, having Noah officially part of the Langan family and a baby shower all in one." Veronica explained with a slight laugh.
"Wow, guys I don't know what to say but thanks." Olivia choked out as she tried to fight back her tears but failing.
"You guy's deserve it, no thanks necessary, you guys had a long year but we're all glad that you made it through it all." Alex added as she hugged her longtime friend.
"As much as I would love to get started partying, this little guy needs a bath asap, so I'll be right back." Trevor said before departing upstairs with Noah.
Evelyn approached Olivia giving her a big and tight hug. "How are you feeling Livia?" Evelyn asked, "I want the truth too." She added knowing Olivia would not be completely truthful.
"I'm tired, excited, happy and wish these Braxton Hicks contraction would go away already." Olivia admitted as she rubbed her stomach.
"I never understood why Braxton Hicks contractions have to exist, I mean, that's just torture." Evelyn said making Olivia, Alex, and Veronica laugh. "Livia, why don't you take a seat, relax and let other's come to you." Evelyn suggested.
Olivia nodded as she took a seat in the recliner that was near them. Veronica kneeled next to Olivia, "Hey who's the woman with Fin? Veronica asked as she looked over at Fin.
Olivia followed Veronica's line of sight to find Fin talking with Cragen, Amanda and Nick. "That's his new girlfriend Rita Calhun." Olivia said
"I thought he was with that red head." Evelyn said slightly confused at the change of events.
Olivia bobbed her head, "Yeah…" Olivia breathed out. "They broke-up like nine or ten months ago. Casey got drunk and slept with someone else. Fin broke up with her and the last I've heard she lives in Jersey." Olivia was really shocked when Fin told her what had happen, and of course Olivia was on Fin side with this. He is like a big brother to her and he was heartbroken over it. She is happy that he found the love of his life, someone who makes him happy. Fin and Rita are perfect for each other surprisingly. They are polar opposite of each other, but they work so well together.
"Olivia," Rafael Barba said as he walked over to them. "Congrats, I am really happy for you guys." He said as he bent down to give his friend a hug.
"Thanks, Rafa, I appreciate it." Olivia said as she scanned the room and saw Melinda talking to Cragen's wife before seeing Cragen approach her. "Hey dad," Olivia said smiling.
Cragen's heart always swelled with joy when Olivia called him dad. "Liv, congrats." He said as he gave her a hug. "I am really happy for you and Trevor."
"Thank yo…" Olivia stopped mid-word as another Braxton Hicks contraction hit her or at least that's what she thought. This one felt a lot stronger than the others.
"Liv, are you ok?" Cragen asked, concerned laced in his voice, this caught the attention of everyone.
Olivia shook her head as she tried to breathe through a contraction. "Get… Trevor." Olivia gritted out as Alex rushed upstairs to grab Trevor. Within seconds a very wet Trevor came running down the stairs.
"Liv, baby what's wrong?" Trevor asked as he kneeled in front of her.
"I think… it's time." Olivia breathed out as the contraction subsided. She finally relaxed and took in Trevor's appearance. "Noah must have really enjoyed that bath," Olivia said with a little laugh.
Trevor nodded with a laugh, "Yeah, he sure did." Trevor said as he stood up and held out his hands for Olivia to take. "Come on, let's go have a baby," Trevor said with a big smile.
Olivia returned his smile as she took Trevor's hand and stood up and that is when she felt it. "Oh snap," Olivia said looking down before looking back up at Trevor. "My water just broke." Olivia whispered.
"Let's get you to the hospital Liv." Trevor said as he began to guide Olivia towards the door.
"Trevor I'll drive so that you can sit with Olivia." Veronica said as she took the car keys from Trevor.
Olivia stopped abruptly, "Wait, what about Noah, someone has to…" Olivia moaned as another contraction ripped through her.
Trevor started to rub her back and whispering, 'you're doing good Liv,' into her ear.
"Livia, don't worry about Noah, I'll look after him." Evelyn said, "You guys just keep me updated on things, ok." Evelyn said receiving a grateful nod from them before heading up the stairs to help Alex out with bathing Noah.
"Yeah, Liv, we'll hang out here for a while and help look after Noah and wait for updates. Just worry about delivering a healthy baby girl." Amanda said once she saw Olivia relax from the contraction.
Olivia gave them a grateful smile, "Thanks guys, you're the best." Olivia said as she finally allowed Trevor to guide her out of the house and to the car.
Thirty minutes and three contractions later they finally pulled up to the hospital. Trevor quickly jumped out of the car and helped Olivia out. "Veronica, I'll text you the room number," Trevor said receiving a nod in response before closing the car door and guiding Olivia into the hospital while Veronica parked the car.
Six hours later found Olivia, Trevor, and Veronica in the delivery room. Trevor and Veronica was on either side of Olivia holding her hand as she pushed. "Come on Liv, you can do it." Trevor encouraged as the doctor encouraged Olivia to push a little harder.
Olivia let out a shaky breath when the doctor told her to stop pushing and to breathe. Veronica took the face cloth that she had and wiped the sweat from Olivia's forehead. "Ok Olivia, I want you to give me a big push and the head will be out, ok?"
Olivia nodded as she prepared herself to push again. When she was given the go ahead, Olivia pushed as hard as she could. She let out a slight scream as she felt that ring of fire as her daughter's head came out. Olivia took in a couple of deep breaths when she was instructed to stop and breathe. "Ok Olivia, one more push and your daughter will be here." Olivia nodded and once again prepared herself to push one more time. When the doctor gave her the go ahead, Olivia took a deep breath and held Trevor's hand tightly before pushing with the last bit of energy she had. "You're doing amazing Liv." Trevor whispered encouragingly. A couple of seconds later the room was filled with the most beautiful sound to Olivia and Trevor ears, the cries of their daughter.
The doctor laid the screaming baby girl on Olivia's chest. Olivia broke into tears of happiness as she kissed the top of her daughter's head. Olivia looked up at Trevor, "We have a daughter." Olivia said with the biggest smile on her face.
Trevor had tears streaming down his face too as he gave his daughter a gentle kiss before being instructed on how to cut the umbilical cord, then returning his attention back to his wife and daughter. "My little princess." Trevor choked out, "Your big brother cannot wait to meet you." Trevor whispered before giving Olivia a kiss, "You did amazing Olivia, absolutely amazing." Trevor said giving her another kiss.
Veronica took a couple of pictures of the three, "She's beautiful guys." Veronica said as she wiped away her own tears. She shot a text to the group back at the house letting them know that the baby was here and healthy.
A nurse walked over to the couple, "Sorry but I'm going to need to take this little bundle to get her cleaned up and checked out." The nurse said gently, hating that she was interrupting the moment.
Olivia gave her baby girl one last kiss before allowing the nurse to take her. "Go with her Trevor." Olivia said receiving a nod from Trevor who followed the nurse.
The next morning Trevor and Olivia laid cuddled up in the bed as they watched their baby girl nurse. They looked up when they heard a knock and saw Veronica, Evelyn, and Noah who squealed in excitement as he started babbling 'mama and dada' when he caught sight of them. Olivia's smile grew when she saw her son. "Hey sweet boy, want to come and meet your little sister." Olivia said as she finished up nursing her daughter. Veronica sat Noah down on the bed who crawled over to see this new person.
"Noah, meet Serena Evelyn Langan." Trevor said glancing up at his mother who had tears in her eyes.
"Thank you," Evelyn choked out as she wiped away the tears that had fallen. "She's beautiful, she looks just like you Olivia."
"Yeah she does, but with blue eyes." Olivia said as she pulled Noah closer to her and watched as he leaned over and kissed the top of Emma's head, which just melted everyone's heart. Olivia looked around at everyone and stopping at Trevor smiling at him, who returned the smile. "I'm so glad you walked into the squad room a year ago." Olivia whispered.
"Me too," Trevor said as he leaned down and kissed Olivia. "I'm glad you agreed to meet me for dinner that day," Trevor added. Yes, he will always be grateful for that faithful day, the day that not only brought the love of his life back into his life but was the beginning of expanding their family.
The End!
