"Where … where am I?" Asked Usagi. She'd woken in a spaced filled with white fluffy clouds. It smelled of fresh rain and morning glory flowers. "It's so peaceful here. Where are my friends Where's Mamo?"

"I'm here with you, inside your mind, Usagi. It is I, Sailor Pluto from further in the future than you would have known me…"

"What…then you were reborn?," asked Usagi.

"Something like that… and it was me in the visions appearing as Queen Bellona, using your luna pen given to me by Neo Queen Serenity…"

"What?" said Usagi.

"Do you remember what happened just now?," asked Pluto.

"Yes, we all fought… there were five youmas… almost invincible … but we defeated them … and then we were getting ready to go get something to eat and… oh no, I collapsed, that darn heart condition. I thought I had more time. Pluto, am I…" said Usagi her eyes wide.

"Not yet, Usagi, but you are fading. Do you remember in school ever learning about the cycles of the moon?"

"Sounds vaguely familiar," said Usagi scratching her head.

Pluto giggled. "Let me jog your memory. When a new moon is building toward a full moon it is gaining energy until it is at full power. This is called waxing. When you fought against Galaxia you reached your full power potential as Sailor Moon. And ever since that time your energy, your light, has been depleting. This is called waning. It will not stop until the light is completely extinguished. We had no choice but to orchestrate the youma attacks and Queen Bellona's presence otherwise the process may have begun too late and we could no longer continue to wait…"

"Who's we?"

"Neo queen Serenity and me… nobody else is aware of our plans."

Usagi gasped. "What?!"

"There was a very small window of time we could take you away, and allow time for the other guardians to be ready before the time of the great ecological disaster on Earth that brings about Crystal Tokyo."

"I… I don't understand," replied Usagi.

Sailor Pluto sighed rubbing Usagi's shoulders and embracing before her looking her in the eyes to say…

"Usagi, as you've grown as Sailor Moon, each time you leveled up you did so at great cost to yourself. You've grown leaps and bounds. When you saved Sailor Galaxia even though everyone else you knew and loved was gone in order to preserve the world… that was the ultimate sacrifice. You've always had such a pure heart. Now you have a pure heart AND wisdom and experiences beyond your years. You are ready to ascend to the throne as Neo-Queen Serenity and gain your true eternal powers. Some of your other guardians… and your prince, Mamoru, the future King Endymion, have a bit more to do before they are ready. It is actually through your death, and absence in this world that will allow this to happen.

"What, No… I don't want Mamo or my friends to suffer… I won't allow it," cried Usagi.

"I thought you might say that, Usagi. And pleas know, none of your friends were truly hurt. Sailor Mars will be returned once our business here is finished. Ultimately this is your choice, but the coming danger will only be defeated if all of you have reached your full power as guardians and protectors of Crystal Tokyo. You are ready, though some of the others are not. If these trials are not able to happen the whole world, the future … including your friends and family will be destroyed. The future Neo-Queen Serenity and I have looked into many timelines, and this appears to be the only way. Right now, your human body is dying. For in order for Neo Queen Serenity to live and reign on earth and attain her full powers, Sailor Moon — Usagi Tsukino, must die. Neo Queen Serenity cannot attain full power in a human boday. It must be fully Lunarian/ I'm so sorry. You can choose to use the power of the silver crystal to heal your body and live on as normal for a time. Or you can choose to let go and be reborn as Neo Queen Serenity and save everyone. But please know, if you choose this path nobody must know that you will return one day. As far as Mercury's computers will know is that your pediatric cardiomyopathy progressed much more quickly than the doctors thought it would and ultimately took your life. They must believe you will be gone forever. They must evolve on their own, without your influence."

Usagi's eyes filled with solemn understanding and drive, the look of determination that often filled her eyes when she was ready to take on the enemy no matter the cost to her own well-being. "I undertsand, Pluto, I know what I must do now. I'm going to miss them so much."

Sailor Pluto touched her cheek gently as her form started to fade away, "I know my queen… They may not not it now, but one day they will understand."
