Kim was shaking, Leah had just pushed her out of the kitchen with Rachel Black. Kim didn't understand what was going on and suspected Rachel knew even less. Taking a deep breath, she grabbed Rachel's hand and pulled her to her car.
"Kim, what's going on? Leah told me something happened to my father, but the scream."
"Rachel, please get in the car." Kim said. She unlocked the door with her key and leaned over to pull the lock for the passenger door. Rachel just stood there.
"Rachel, please, I can explain some things, I can explain some things in the car, but I need you to get in."
"Is she on drugs?" Rachel yelled.
Kim shook her head, "Rachel we're in danger, please get in the car. If I don't get us both to safety, there will be hell to pay."
Rachel hesitated then she heard the howling. She and Kim both looked towards the tree line, emerging from the trees were two huge wolves. They stared right at her, Rachel opened the door and got in. She shut her eyes.
"Kim, what's going on?"
Kim put they key in the ignition, the car sputtered. "Come on," Kim pleaded. "I need you to work right now," she turned the keys again pleading the car to turn over. Just as the engine roared to life, something landed on the hood of the car. It was an arm, it slowly crawled up the hood of the car. Rachel screamed, Kim threw the car in reverse and sped out of her parking spot. Gravel shot out as she sped out of the parking lot.
"Kim. That was an arm. The arm moved. The arm fucking moved." Rachel repeated.
Kim's mind went blank. She sped all the way to Emily's home. There was no one out on the rez. All of the homes were shut up, lights were off. Kim almost cried at the sight of Emily's porch light. She pulled into her usual parking spot and turned the car off.
"Where are we?"
"We're at Emily's" Kim said. She opened the door and got out, she walked over to Rachel's side and opened the door for her. Rachel reluctantly got out, she stood there as Kim walked to the door and turned to her.
"Come on, there are no wolves here." Kim forced a smile.
Rachel trudged after Kim confused and scared. Kim pushed open the door and entered.
"Oh there you are Kim, I was so worried, Sam told me you would be coming." Emily came around the counter and embraced Kim. Rachel looked at her feet, a bit embarrassed at the intimate moment. "Hello Rachel, I had hoped we'd meet under better circumstances. I'm Emily, I'm Leah's cousin."
"What's going on?" Rachel looked from Kim to Emily.
"Does she know anything?" Emily asked looking at Kim.
"I don't think so," Kim said.
"Know about what? I demand that you tell me what's going on." Rachel's voice was shaky, but she hoped the power was there.
"Okay, I'm going to get some cookies and some milk and we can sit down and talk about what's going on. I'm not exactly sure, but I can tell you the basics." Emily said.
Kim collapsed into the couch, she still had her apron on from work. Rachel hesitated near the door, but followed when Emily pulled out cookies and milk. Emily came over with glasses and a plate full of cookies and sat down across from Rachel. She looked at Rachel and admitted that she didn't know where to begin.
"Do you remember the legends? The legends of your ancestors and the spirit warriors?" Emily asked.
Rachel nodded, "what do the-" Emily cut her off.
"They're real."
