One day, Logan was in Lisa's room shirtless and hooked up to a reading machine Lisa put together. She was analyzing his body for any abnormalities in his growing body.
Logan:(Yawn) Are we done yet, Lisa? I'm bored!
Lisa: Almost done, youngest sibling.
Logan: Why must we do this every month?
Lisa: We need to make sure the chemicals that made you super strong and durable didn't also give you drawbacks or inconvenient mutations.
Logan: You really take this seriously.
Lisa: Of course I do. I mean, I hate for something to happen to you.
Logan: Is that because mom and dad don't want you experimenting on family members?
Lisa: That is one of the reasons.
Logan: Well, it's not like you hit me with that goop on purpose.
Lisa: But I do feel responsible for it. Tell me, how much do you remember of that incident?
Logan: Not really much. I was very little.
Lisa: Well I remember it perfectly.
(Flashback, Lisa's POV)
When you were still a one-year-old infant, I was having issues with my short stature even at age five. It was always an issue with me but it was at a critical point where I took actions that led to the incident.
I remember trying to reach the cookie jar from the top of the kitchen counter but having trouble. Then brother Lincoln came into the kitchen holding you as an infant in his arms.
Lincoln: Need some help there, Lisa?
I tried to ignore him but fell back on the ground. Then look at him.
Lisa: I prefer not to!
Lincoln: Nothing wrong with asking for help.
Lincoln then got me my cookie from the jar. I reluctantly took it.
Lisa: Thank you. I really wish I wasn't still so short. I felt I should have hit a growth spurt by now.
Lincoln: Don't you have gadgets and stuff to help with this?
Lisa: It's not like I have them all the time.
Luan then pops her head though the doorway.
Luan: They also seem like a short term solution! Hahahaha!
Lisa: Not the time, Luan! But that's sadly accurate.
Then I had what I felt was a brilliant idea and ran to my room.
The next few days (I lost track of time at that point) I was working on my chemistry set to come up with a concoction that could increase my size. Not like accelerating my age because even I found that unethical. I was so focused I didn't even get that much sleep or food. I'm sure the family was concerned but I didn't care.
Soon, I was close to what I felt was a breakthrough. It was still hard to tell since I didn't have live test subjects and I couldn't use my siblings again. They were still not fond of the time I somehow turned us into anthropomorphic bunny rabbits. That's a story for another time.
What I didn't notice was my room door was slightly opened and you somehow crawled in. I believe you were chasing a ball that rolled in and then was mesmerized of the bright colors of the beakers.
Just then, the beaker with my prototype formula on a bunsen burner was bubbling. Before I could turn the burner off, the beaker fell over and shot some of the content out like a geyser and it hit you in the face. Then you started crying and that's when I noticed you were in the room. I rushed over to check on your condition. At that point, the formula was already absorbed into your skin.
Lisa: Logan! Why are you…? Are you…?
And that's when you started regurgitating between crying. I was able to prompt you to an empty steel barrel I was planning to use for any toxic waste. It was a good thing cause you spewed so much. I didn't know where it was all coming from. There was no way our toilet would handle all of it.
While this was happening, all I could do was rub your back to ease the pain. I felt guilty for not making sure the environment was secure. It was reckless of me because other times I made sure to secure the area so no one in the family would interfere or be harmed during my experiments. But I was so focused on my goal of getting bigger and now the worst possible scenario accured. You, the youngest sibling, was harmed.
After what I believed was half an hour, you finally stopped regurgitating. But you still cried as I was guessing your body was still aching from the effects of the concoction. I wasted no time getting to work on something to ease your pain. I felt I was required to as it was my fault you were in that state.
I then whipped up a serum that could help but you were reluctant to ingest it.
Lisa: Please Logan, you need to take this if you want the pain to stop.
I kept trying using a spoon but you would not take it. I was actually sobbing.
Lisa: Please, it's my fault you're like this. Let me make up for it. Please, little brother!
After a while, I then had an idea. I then ran out for a second and came back with a bowl of ice cream. Anyone would take anything if it's on a tasty treat. I poured the serum on it like it was chocolate syrup and you immediately went right to eating it. I felt relieved that you were doing so and it did stop your aches.
(End flashback, Narrative)
Logan: Wait! Was that my first ice cream?
Lisa: Yes, I didn't realize that till afterwards. I prefer not to tell father or Lily about that since they take our first ice creams so seriously. I mean Lily really didn't want your first to be ruined like hers almost was.
Logan: Yeah, I was told about that. It was the reason she freaks out at the sight of pigeons.
Lisa: Anyway, I didn't notice any other effects of my growth serum before but it seemed it didn't take effect until just recently. It did grow something but just your muscles giving you your super strength and endurance. Regardless, I never attempted making the growth serum after that.
Logan: Why not?
Lisa: Well…
(Flashback, Lisa's POV)
When I was getting the ice cream in the kitchen, I of course had an issue reaching the freezer. I knew I couldn't keep you waiting for relief from your pain. I then heard brother Lincoln in the dining room. So then I did what I didn't expect to do.
Lisa: Brother! I need your assistance!
He then entered the kitchen.
Lincoln: What's up?
Lisa: I need you to get me the ice cream.
Lincoln: Whoa! You...are actually asking for help?
Lisa: I know but I need it. Let's just say one is having a bad day.
Lincoln was able to get me the ice cream and it was surprising he didn't ask any further. I guess he felt I was the one having a bad day which was technically true.
(End flashback, Narrative)
Lisa: But it was from that I realized something. I only wanted to get bigger so I didn't need to ask anyone for help. But after just doing it I saw that it's not so bad or demeaning to get help from family. It was not worth getting me or my loved one in danger.
Logan: I see. I mean I need help all the time and I never had problems asking for help.
Lisa: Exactly. Who needs to get big quick when you have a caring family? Okay, I think our tests are done. You can continue your day.
Logan then got out of the machine and put his shirt and belt back on. He made sure to turn the belt back on and hugged Lisa.
Logan: Your great, Lisa!
Then Lily came in.
Lily: You two done already?
Lisa: Indeed. Logan is still in acceptable condition.
Lily: Great. Umm…
Lily was scratching her head looking embarrassed.
Lily: I need help getting though the front yard.
Lisa and Logan look outside and see a group of Pigeons sitting on the front yard.
Lisa: Understood.
