Josh sits at the table for one in the farm house, having some hash browns and milk for breakfast. He takes a quick scan around the house, with all his furniture in view, given that the inside of his farm house was essentially one whole room; like a studio apartment in the city. He remembered that Robin was talking about house renovations a while back, and decides to walk to the carpenter's shop to enquire about it.
At Robin's house, Demetrius and Robin were in the kitchen having breakfast, so Josh spends some time in Maru's room, where she is working on another one of her robots. This one was quite small in stature, and looked like it was a cleaning robot.
"I don't think Sebastian really likes me," said Maru. "I've always wanted a brother, but he doesn't act like one."
"He's your step-brother, right?" asked Josh. "Sorry, I'm still trying to figure out everyone's family here."
"Yeah, he was from my mum's first marriage," she replied. "He's just a little older than me, but we never really got along. It's a shame. Anyway, I know you're not so much into robots and building gadgets, but it's nice knowing that you appreciate it, at least. Hey, I wonder if I can make something useful for farmers?"
"Well, I've recently started to grow more crops on the farm," said Josh. "I think it's about fifty or so. I don't mind watering them all manually, but it can get tiring with so many of them."
"At least when it rains, you wouldn't have to worry," replied Maru. "Also, winter's coming up soon, so you can have a break from tending to crops!"
Maru then pauses, before lighting up with a wondrous expression. "Hey, why don't I install some kind of sprinkler system on your farm? I think my dad would like to help, too."
"Oh no, I'd feel bad," said Josh. "Your dad's a scientist who's always busy studying nature, and I'm sure you have better things to do."
"I've never done something like this before," said Maru, "it would certainly help me as a young inventor."
Josh thanks Maru, before walking over to Robin's counter at the carpentry shop.
"Okay, so I can expand your house with a new kitchen, as well as including another room," said Robin, explaining her blueprints. "You might want to make that your new bedroom, and then the existing area will be the living room."
"That sounds good," replied Josh. "I'll finally have a kitchen, it was strange using a portable stove to cook some breakfast."
"So, I can start the renovations tomorrow, it will take about a week," she added. "Are you all good with that?"
"Yes, that's cool with me," he responded.
"Great, thanks for doing this, Josh," said Robin. "I've really felt alive again with all your carpentry projects, I was starting to feel bored before you came here. At least I'll be done before the Stardew Valley Fair next week."
"The Stardew Valley what?" thought Josh.
The next morning, Josh receives a letter from Lewis about the Stardew Valley Fair. It was going to be the highlight of the year, with carnival games, a petting zoo, Gus' barbecue, as well as a grange display contest, where up to nine items could be displayed. It could be a good opportunity for Josh to showcase his efforts on the farm.
The whole town gathers at the town square for Leah's art show. It was like an outdoor art museum, with everyone looking at Leah's sculptures and paintings on display; the bashful artist explaining her inspiration behind the works. Alex stares carefully at a painting of the beach and a cabin, which almost resembled Elliott's humble abode.
"I don't really get it," he tells Josh. "It looks exactly like what you can see down at the beach."
"Well, think about the message that the artist was trying to convey," said Josh. "How did she feel about the beach? Also look at the delicate brush strokes of the sand, contrasting the rigid detail of the beach house. I think it evokes a sense of comfort that was very real to Leah."
"You talk too much," remarked Alex. "It's obvious that Leah just painted this because that's what she could see in front of her."
"Well, there's actually no wrong or right way to interpret it," laughed Josh. "That's the beauty of art."
Leah walks up to Josh, almost out of breath from talking about her artworks.
"Josh, I just wanted to say thank you so much for coming up with the idea of this art show," she said to him. "People seemed to really enjoy my paintings and sculptures; I definitely feel a lot more confident. Hopefully someone will buy something, huh?"
"No worries Leah, I'm glad that I was able to help," replied Josh. "I remember on my first day, you told me why you moved here. I hope now you feel supported and loved in everything you do."
"It's all because you believed in me," replied Leah. "Thank you, Josh."
Leah leaves for a short moment, and returns to Josh with a simple wooden sculpture in her hands.
"This was the first sculpture I ever made when I moved here," said Leah. "I'd like you to have it."
Josh thanks Leah, and admires the new piece of artwork that he can finally display in his new farm house.
