"I say, look at that man!" the boy suddenly said, getting Harry and Gabrielle's attention.
He was pointing to the window, where Hagrid had now returned. He waved to Harry and he was carrying two large ice cream cones.
"That's Hagrid," Harry told the boy, already knowing this without whatever that unexplained magic was.
"Oh. I've heard of him. He's a sort of servant, isn't he?" the boy asked.
"He's the gamekeeper," Harry responded with a hint of irritation in his voice. He was liking this boy less by the minute.
"I heard he's a sort of savage," the boy continued regardless. "Gets himself drunk regularly. He often tries to use magic and ends up setting fire to his bed."
"I think he's brilliant," Harry said firmly.
"As do I," Gabrielle added.
Harry looked at Gabrielle in surprise. The other boy, on the other hand had decided that with that declaration that these two losers were no longer worth talking to and began ignoring them.
"Wait, you know Hagrid?" Harry asked Gabrielle.
"Non, but at Beauxbatons, which is where my older sister goes to school, ze 'eadmistress is a 'alf-giant, just like 'Agrid," Gabrielle explained.
"Beauxbatons?" Harry asked in wonder.
Gabrielle nodded. "Yes, it's a major wizarding school, just like 'Ogwarts. It's located in souzern France. I myself am from France."
Harry grew more surprised and rather impressed the more Gabrielle told him. He very much wondered now why Gabrielle was going to attend Hogwarts when her sister didn't. Especially since this apparent other school was located in another country.
"If it's okay to ask, how come you're going to Hogwarts when your sister is attending Beauxbatons?" Harry asked.
"Originally, my papa didn't want me to go to 'Ogwarts because 'e is concerned for my safety, but 'e decided to let me go because I really wanted to go to school in a different county," Gabrielle told him. "I feel zat by going to a different school from my sister's zat I can get more out of ze experience and do my own zing."
As Harry listened to Gabrielle's story, he had to admit that he was developing some respect for her. It was quite cool to him that she was seemingly so independent, and that she took her education so seriously.
