Gumball and Katia

Nicole puttered around the house dusting and humming to herself.
Today was the day!
After being away at summer camp for several months, her Gummypuss was coming back home. She was so excited to see her little boy after so long. And she was so proud of him too – he had a girlfriend, and Nicole smiled at the thought of her little boy growing up.
She was also excited to meet this Katia Managan girl. Gumball had told Nicole very little about her in his messages home. Nicole could tell he was head over heels for her over the phone though. It was all in the dreamlike way he talked about her, and the way he savoured the sound of her name whenever he spoke it.
Nicole heard an engine and looked out the window to see a car pulling in. Gumball had said he'd be getting a ride back. She smiled and watched her son get out and then the driver got out too. She was a cat too, almost the colour of gold.
She was quite visibly pregnant too. Nicole furrowed her brow.
Who was this? Then it dawned on her and she smiled. Of course! That's who it was.
Nicole put away her duster as she heard Gumball open the front door and walk in. Nicole came out into the hallway and hugged her son tightly
"Oh my Gumball I missed you!"
"Heh, I missed you too mom" He replied eagerly, hugging her back.
Nicole straightened and looked at the woman standing awkwardly by the door.
"Oh, my apologies" Nicole said, reaching out to shake her hand "You must be Mrs. Managan, Katia's mom. Thanks for giving Gumball a ride back from the bus station."
She took Nicole's hand and lightly shook it, her face frozen with a nervous smile.
Her eyes darted to Gumball and back to Nicole. Nicole raised an eyebrow.
They stood like that for a moment before letting go of each other's hands as Gumball walked over and stood next to the woman and spoke up. "Mom. Uh…"
Nicole's eyes darted to Gumball, and back to the woman, and back again. Something made her feel deeply uneasy all of a sudden.
Gumball swallowed, glanced at the woman and gave her a nervous smile of his own.
"Mom." He said, mustering all his courage "I'd like you to meet my girlfriend, Katia."
Nicole blinked. She looked at Gumball. She looked at Katia. She looked at Gumball. She looked at Katia's belly. Her heart screamed. Her eyes became wide as saucers and she started to tremble.
Nicole licked her lips and took a shallow breath before uttering a single shocked answer "Gumball…What did you do…?"
Gumball looked incredibly guilty and just mumbled a "We, uh…we…" and squeezed Katia's hand.
Then the shock faded and Nicole almost yelled "What did you do?!"
